I let the family’s consigliere ruin me for a week. In hotel beds. In limousines. In the back of a five-star restaurant. Marco Salvatore was my forbidden fantasy. And I let him turn me into his filthy little secret.
Then he vanished. No goodbyes. Just a shattered heart… and two pink lines.
Now I’m hiding from the Lombardi family. And from the man whose twins I’m carrying.
But when they come for me, it’s Marco who kicks down the door. The man who once used me is now my only protector. And when he touches me again, I forget why I ever ran.
This isn’t just about lust anymore. It’s power, betrayal, blood—and a baby bump I can’t hide for much longer.
He promised to keep us safe. He swore no one would touch me again.
But as I watch him walk straight into a trap… I realize I’m the only one who can save him now.
I thought this was a good read. We follow Sophia who develops an unlikely relationship with Marco.
Both of them are such fiery characters, you wouldn't think that their relationship would work, but it sort of does. There is a nice flow to this book, and the danger that surrounds these characters make this a very compelling read.

What a wonderful book. I really liked the dynamic between the main characters, Marco and Sofia. The main character annoyed me a little at the end of the book because he made a decision that wasn't right, but in the end it ended well. What a wonderful book. loved it. well written, richly detailed, exciting, dangerous, violence of war was well described as well as what the survivors and medics were going thru running out of supplies hope with no rescue in sight. emry is a stubborn human medic trying to keep the last of the planets survivors alive while the planet is ravaged by war. renn a reaper crashes and is badly injured but emry rescues him and treats his injuries. while she goes back and forth from med tent to hidden outpost treating renn, feelings develop and renn starts to realize she is his mate. but time is running out for everyone. renn cant get ahold of his crew for rescue and the factions at war are closing in ready to kill every last civilian alive. emry fights to keep everyone alive and refuses to leave anyone behind. i loved renn's character. he is a tough warrior reaper yet once he realizes shes his mate he becomes more tender, softer and vulnerable something that was hidden all along until he met the mate fated for him. feelings he never thought he'd feel or experience change him fundamentally and while he continued to be the strong alpha blood thirsty warrior he always was ready and willing to protect emry at all costs, I loved that he found his more loving nature with emry. emry was stubborn to the point of dumb at some points though refusing to give up when there was literally no hope of survival. instead of demanding to stay and keep patching up survivors until everyone was dead in a no win situation, she should have been working to find a way to get everyone off world. she really was blinded by her own fears and attachment to the planet to reality. luckily there's a happy ending.

Sofia and Marco come from completely different worlds. She’s a journalist determined to take down the criminal underworld, while he’s part of the biggest crime family, doing whatever it takes to survive. But there’s something between them, a fire they can’t ignore. After a few intense hookups, they call it quits. Fast forward five years, and fate brings them back together. The pull is still there, just as strong, and this time, neither one of them is willing to let go without a fight.
Sofia was someone that I had beef with. She was incredible in so many ways... until she’d do something reckless or start second-guessing everything. She’s a runner. When things get tough, she bolts. But I did appreciate her growth. Eventually, she stops running and faces her problems head on, and I really respected her for that.
“It’s the way I breathe, the way my heart beats, the way every part of me pulls toward her like a force I don’t have the strength—or the will—to resist.”
Marco, on the other hand? Loved him. He’s the kind of man who doesn’t shy away from challenges. He’s fiercely loyal, incredibly protective, and deeply in love with Sofia. He also has a way with words that melted me. I just wish we got to know him a little better. I wanted more insight into his backstory and what shaped him into the man he is. He was compelling, but there was room for more depth.
One thing that I do have to note is that the description of the book was not aligned with the content. Marco did not disappear on Sofia, neither did he find Sofia by “kicking down the door”, in fact it’s Sofia who contacts Marco YEARS after hooking up and reconnects. Even with the time jump, it felt like a chunk of information was missing…so I’m a little confused for the discrepancy but perhaps it’s an evolution of plot error and needs to be updated to reflect the book properly.
With an intense storyline, incredible chemistry, and moments that make you fan yourself, this book deserves recognition. It’s emotional, steamy, and filled with the kind of drama that keeps you turning pages. Even with a few hiccups, I still had a great time reading it.
This book is action-packed from start to finish. Sofia, an Investigative journalist and best friend of Valentina Salvatore, is piecing together information in the hope of taking down one of the worst crime families, the Lombardis.
Marco is the brother and consigliere to Luca Salvatore. While attending a gathering at the Mansion, he comes into contact with Sofia, someone who goes toe to toe with him, who excites him with her passion, her fire, and tonight is the night it ignites between the two of them. A one-time deal, they tell themselves, but once the fire starts, they are drawn back to the flame repeatedly.
Sofia, who is still on the trail of the Lombardis' gathering intel, becomes a target herself, putting herself in danger, which in turn infuriates Marco. Will she ever learn not to put herself in the crosshairs? Does she have to be so independent? Being reckless to get the story written.
Sofia and Marco have to work out what they mean to each other. Sofia needs to lower her walls and let the person who loves her protect her. She needs to listen instead of being rash. Marco needs to listen to what Sofia needs and not what he thinks is best for her. Compromises and open dialogue are needed. But Marco has to realise, he is attracted to all that Sofia stands for, he can't dull her flame. Sofia has to take the good and the bad that comes with Marco. Yes, he may be a part of a mafia family, but the ethos that the Salvatores have is to protect all those who align with them.

Nothing and I mean nothing triggers me more than a author who incorrectly describes their book. It like false advertising 🤷😅 It makes it seem like Marco and her and s3x and secret meetings and left her pregnant with twins. And that simply isn't at all how it went down. She left when she found out she was pregnant but was found shortly after. And we don't even know it's twins until literally the epilogue. Well other than the title lol. Technically she doesn't see pink lines. She does a hospital/drs visit blood test. Which now a days that's hardly ever done to confirm pregnancy. Even drs do the pee test. And the description says he kicked down the door and saves her, which he does when she gets kidnapped before she's even pregnant. So there is literally no hiding no freaking baby bump. He knows she's pregnant, or rather finds out after she runs. Basically the only thing the description got correct was the last two lines 😅😅 If the description was more truthful it would have been a hands 5 star read. But like I said the lies triggered me and knocked it down a star lol.
Ok but my real review. I absolutely loved Marco. Sophia was a bit annoying when she was fighting fate. But once she gave ini loved her. Lol.

Sofia (h) is a relentless investigator with a haunted past. Marco (H) is the brooding underboss of a powerful crime family, raised for violence and bound by loyalty. When Sofia uncovers dangerous secrets, Marco is told to keep her close. What starts as surveillance turns into obsession. What begins as a threat becomes something neither of them expected.
Lines blur as enemies close in. Sofia's family is more connected to a mafia feud than she ever knew. Marco becomes her fiercest protector, even as war pulls them deeper into a world soaked in betrayal. Love born in fire forces them to choose each other again and again.
Survival becomes the only rule as chaos closes in. Marco risks everything for peace, and Sofia refuses to be left behind. Marco risks everything for peace, and Sofia refuses to be left behind. Side by side, they fight to reclaim the life they've bled for.
Sofia grows from a guarded loner into a bold, loyal partner and mother. Marco sheds the weight of vengeance to become a man willing to love without armor. Together, they go from enemies bound by duty to soul-deep equals shaped by survival.
A dark, steamy, enemies to lovers, mafia romance exploring blood, betrayal, family, identity, loyalty, survival, love, revenge, redemption, and love that refuses to die.
From the first page, The Underboss’s Secret Twins pulled me straight into a world of danger, desire, and deliciously forbidden temptation. Marco Salvatore isn’t just any man—he’s the family’s consigliere, the kind of power you’re not supposed to touch… which of course makes it impossible not to. The heat between Marco and the heroine is instant and unstoppable. Those first stolen nights together? Off-the-charts. But what really hooked me was how quickly lust gave way to something deeper—and messier. Because when Marco disappeared, leaving nothing but heartbreak and a secret pregnancy, I felt every ounce of her fear and anger right along with her. When he bursts back into her life, it’s not as the cold man who left—it’s as the protector who will burn the world to keep her and their babies safe. The stakes stay high from start to finish—betrayal, blood feuds, and the constant danger of being tied to a powerful crime family—but the heart of this story is the fierce, undeniable connection between two people who should never have been together… yet can’t stay apart. This book delivers it all—passion, danger, loyalty, and just the right amount of emotional gut-punch to keep you invested in every page. If you love mafia romance with protective alphas, high stakes, and a heroine who finds her strength in the storm, this one’s a five-star read.
The Underboss's Secret Twins is the intense Mafia romance between Marco, the underboss for the Salvatore Mafia family, and Sophia, an investigative journalist who is working to uncover information about the Lombardi crime family who are the rivals of the Salvatore. Sophia plans to keep the Salvatore family safe since her best friend is the Don's wife. Marco is obsessed with her and they have a sizzling romance which results in an unexpected pregnancy, however, Marco leaves before the news. This intriguing and well written book has realistic characters, plot twists, kidnapping, violence, danger, and sizzling passion.

Sofia is a detestable character, she's annoying from start to finish. I hated every second of this crap. And the synopsis is a farce because I only read it because of the pregnancy plot, and it only happens at the end, and then SHE RUNS AWAY AFTER DISCOVERING THE PREGNANCY IN THE DUMBEST WAY EVER!
The author simply repeated the same thing from the previous story: she discovers she's pregnant, runs away, and then they meet again and all is magically forgiven. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't forgive someone for taking my child away from me.
She's in danger and decides to leave the only safe place she could be. Seriously, I hate characters like that.
She gets into a horrible car accident, and you want to tell me she didn't lose the baby? This story is horrible.

This is another great story from this amazing author. Sofia is an investigator who is working to bring down a crime family. Marco is the head of the crime family who is bound by loyalty. He becomes obsessed with Sofia.
There is so much chaos going on in Marco and Sofia's story. They are both taking risks to be together. Sofia grows to be a loyal person to Marco and a mother. They work together to survive their world.
If you enjoy a great mafia romance filled with loyalty and survival this one is for you. You don't want to miss it.

We're drawn into the lives of Sofia and Marco. They briefly had a hot and steamy forbidden romance because they have no future together. She's hurt when he disappears without a word. After a while, she discovers she's pregnant with Marco, not only by her own name, but also by twins. The shock of this is that she's become the target of a rival family. Can Marco save and protect her, and will they get a second chance? A fantastic story with plenty of action, suspense, danger, romance, and plenty of steam and heated moments.

This is the second book in the Underworld Heirs series. They are standalones that are interconnected. With that out of the way, I think I would risk a round of pregnancy, even with twins, to spend the week that Sofia got to spend with Marco. This book was full of sizzling tension (definitely a slow burn), great story, an MMC that most of us would do unspeakable things for, and healthy amount of spice. I'm not a big fan of secret baby trope, but I was willing to put that aside and enjoy the book thoroughly.

One forbidden relationship leads to two pink lines and Pandemonium. Sophia and Marco had me glued to the twists and turns this story takes. She is an investigator who uncovers dangerous secrets that places her life in jeopardy. Will Marco come to her aid once again and will they finally get their chance for happiness. This story is filled with action-pakced drama that had me connection with Sophia and Marco.

In this book we are taken back into the Mafia lives of Luca and Valentina but this time it is with his underboss Marco and Valentina's best friend Sofia. But Sofia is an investigative reporter and is trying to take down the rival family without taking down Luca at the same time. A hit is put out on Sofia and Marco is caught between her and his family. But as things get more serious between them choices have to be made. Great characters and I would read any others that might come along.

The Underboss’s Secret Twins by Lisa Cullen is the story of Marco and Sofia. Whew…the story behind these two is twisted and convoluted….but, oh so compelling!!! I couldn’t stop reading this intensely riveting read!! Sofia is the key to it all. But, she’s cunning, sharp, relentless, and dedicated. Marco has always been devoted to his family. Nothing else matters…not even love. The horrors that follow them, the relentlessness, the betrayals, everything culminates in a huge shocking situation!!!! Great read!!!
This is part of Cullen's Underworld Heirs, and our main characters are Marco and Sofia. These two come from completely different worlds and somehow come together with a bang. She's a journalist set to take down the criminal underworld and he's part of the biggest crime families there is. A well written and captivating romance full of action, danger and desire. A great read!

What a good read about Marco and Sophia. It is an age gap romance between a a reporter and a man that is part of what she is trying to take down. I really love how their story develops from beginning to end. The story has a little danger and suspense with passion, a surprise and some good twists and turns. I really enjoyed seeing the change and character development as they each found more in life.
You know those books written about the hero who will literally burn the world down for his woman? Who will do anything and go anywhere for her, to find her, and keep her safe? This is one of those books, with Sofia and Marco. Full of mafia family and mafia drama, there is darkness but also plenty of love and steam. Loved it!.

This is the 2nd book in the series and it is very good. The h is the best friend of the h from the previous book and the H is the brother of the H from that book as well. The h is a journalist and is digging for information on a rival family. They start a secret affair which is a complication for him. She is kidnapped almost killed but he always rescues her. They face many problems before they got their HEA.
Lisa Cullen writes a great story, but an edit for continuity would be good. There are scenes where the action doesn't make sense. For instance Victoria's son Leo comes into the kitchen and she picks him up, holding him in her arms. In the next line she tells Sofia she must go check on Leo. That's one example of many. But the book is worth reading, and it's very smart to end it with a cliff hanger.
This is a gripping tale of life in the Mafia. One woman's journey to find the truth and bring the Mafia down. It is a story full of danger, death and kidnapping. It does include a romance with surprise pregnant and the one man who will do anything to keep her safe. Happy ending with a cliffhanger.

Book 2 in the Underworld Heirs is The Underboss's Secret Twins. It's Marco and Sofia's story. It's an engaging, steamy story that keeps you glued to the pages from beginning to end. Plenty of action, danger and intrigue as well as surprises keeps you flipping the pages anticipating what comes next. An enjoyable read!
The chemistry between Marco and Sophia is interesting and will have you wondering at times if they can have the life together they both won’t or if everyday problems will spoil everything.
