To Save the Few

Rate this book
Protect your family. Save your friend. Buy your freedom.

For nine years, this has been Seren Clare’s only goal.

But when a deadly mistake thrusts her into the Fae Realms—accused of murdering a Fae Lord—everything changes.

On the run with her sister and best friend, Seren is forced to trust five mysterious Fae soldiers, including the enigmatic Eiran, whose loyalty may come at a cost. As they journey through magical lands and face down deadly creatures, a new danger emerges—one that threatens not only her life, but her heart.

Torn from her loved ones in a brutal ambush, Seren finds herself in Terra Sola, a hidden Fae city cloaked in illusion. Disguised by risky magic and trained by the infuriating yet magnetic warrior Astrophel, Seren begins to question everything she thought she knew—about the Fae, her past, and herself.

But when the chance to save her family resurfaces—at the risk of everything she’s built—Seren doesn’t hesitate. Because freedom has a price. And love might be hers… if she’s willing to fight for it.

About the author

Elvie Grace

Elvie is a UK-based romantasy and urban fantasy author who loves writing emotionally rich, character-driven stories with grit, magic, and heart. Her debut novel, To Save the Few, blends brutal worldbuilding, slow-burn romance, and powerful themes of sisterhood, survival, and the blurred lines between good and evil. When she's not crafting worlds where fae and mortals clash or vampires stalk the streets, she's working in events at a university, wrangling spreadsheets by day and plot twists by night.

Outside of writing, Elvie lives in a happily chaotic home with her puppy, three mischievous cats, and an extremely zen tank of fish. She’s autistic, proudly neurodivergent, and passionate about creating stories where outsiders find belonging, power, and love—often in the most unexpected places.

You can usually find her daydreaming about her next book, sipping too much tea, or whispering sweet nothings to her plot bunnies.

4 . 5 🌟

omg, this book turned my world upside down.

I loved Seren, fiery & loyal to a fault.

I loved the whole plot, traveling across the realm, witnessing all the crazy creatures in the fae world.

THE ENDING THOUGH. I am a sucker for a cliff hanger and this had me SCREAMING

This was my first proper fantasy read ever. I normally really struggle to get into them but I was recommended this book and decided to give it a go. I was hooked. It was amazing but I am struggling so much right now not having more of it!

Elvie Grace has crafted a story that’s equal parts breathtaking worldbuilding and chaotic, raw internal dialogue. The pacing is fast and immersive, but Elvie knows when to slow the story down and let a scene breathe—giving us moments that linger at just the right moment.

At times, I found myself racing through chapters where little “happened” plot-wise, yet I still felt like I’d been carried through a roller coaster of emotion and discovery.

Yes, there are a handful of editing hiccups—but the strength of the plot and the heart of the characters easily outshine them. Seren, in particular, is unforgettable. She’s gritty, hardened, and flawed, sometimes lovable, sometimes infuriating—but always compelling. Beneath that exterior, you can feel something luminous fighting to break free.

The supporting cast is just as strong. The best friend banter sparkles, the “why choose” tension among the male leads adds irresistible friction, and Seren’s found family quietly steals the show as the low-key MVP.

One of my favorite aspects is the imagination poured into the world itself. From whimsical fae horses and mischievous sprites to the grounding presence of fireflies, Elvie’s original species and creatures feel both magical and lived-in.

And the ending is perfect. It ties up this arc beautifully without cheapening it with cliffhangers, still leaving space for another adventure.

I enjoyed the read. It was quite simple, but I didn’t mind. It is the kinda book what you don’t have to overthink, sometimes don’t even have to really pay attention, just sit back with a hot tee and enjoy the story.
There were some parts though which felt like a repetition. Like, okay, I get it you are a human in a fae world and everyone is using magic. But I kinda felt that our fmc is a bit dummy sometimes. I mean, it was quite obvious sometimes what is going on, she was the only one who didn’t fogure it out.
Te world building is rather basic, we don’t learn so much about the world, and not even about the background of our fmc, not even at the end, where she learns where she is actually from.
I think it is a nice book, and if it gets a sequel I will probably read it, but it was also not the best I read in this category. I still give it a 4 star, because it did what it promised, it made me escape from reality into another world and just have fun.

This book is still living rent-free in my head!!!

The slow burn! The tension! The characters! AHHHHH I could honestly scream about this book forever. I was in a bit of a reading slump and picked it up, hoping it would be something I could get into. I did not expect it to be so compulsively good!

Seren is an unbelievable FMC! Even when she makes choices that make me want to lose my mind, the writing reels you back in every time, and you find yourself even more engrossed. I love the found family element to the book; the relationship dynamics were so well-written and felt incredibly relatable. Go read it because it will be the best use of your time!!

I need book 2 and I NEEDED IT YESTERDAY!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I DNF-ed this on page 20. The reason I write this review here is that I think it's important to.

If I in any way shape or form paid for this book and got writing and formatting that's identical to fanfication, I'd be beyond disappointed. Also, right off the bat swear words seeped in. "Fuck" is featured 5 times on page 1 alone. The word bitch is on page 7 and then on page 10... And it only continues in the spirit, constat swearing that's excessive - coming from someone who also uses profanities daily. I don't want them in my books - it speaks of poor taste and writing. Gave me an instant ick and I had to put it down. The only nice thing is the cover. I would not recommend.

i absolutely INHALED this book. seriously. i don’t know that i’ve ever read a 500-page book THAT quickly. it had absolutely everything i want from a fae book: different types of fae, different powers, warring courts, and evil queen, headstrong, foolish girls (iykyk), betrayals, and giant, show-stopping fights.

but it also had things i didn’t even think i could want!! familiars (cool af ones, too), intriguing magic systems, different races of magical people, and bloodline magic!!!! how can you turn any of that down???

the vibes for this one were immaculate. seriously, this was such a joyride of a read. i was having the absolute best time the entire time. LOVED it. brava, elvie 👏

3.73 rounded up! I read this book in a few days and very much enjoyed the overall FAE vibe and new takes!
yes some of the storyline is similar to what’s in the market now, but there was quite a lot of freshness there.

I would love to see this world explored a bit more. Will there be a book 2? Would love to learn more about her sister, the familial magic, the smaller creatures, the familiars and goodness the love story too…. A lot of this could be opened up and I would def dive into it.

Well done on a debut that read fast, kept me guessing and has me ready for more of the world!

I was a little hesitant to crack into this because romance is really not my jam but oh my lanta, this is a true fantasy novel with an undercurrent of romance. Seren is a delightfully frustrating FMC and her love and care for her small circle of family is gut wrenching. This is a beautiful debut novel and I look forward to her future works!!!

This needs a sequel

Selfish I know but this book needs a sequel. The magic is fun, the system is good, the side characters are well developed, and I thoroughly enjoyed getting lost in this world. There were a couple pacing problems, some general editing misses but nothing that would take a reader out of it. Personally I loved it and highly recommend if you like fae or fantasy.
