If you've been following my reviews, you'll know that I often choose books based on their covers, and I have a bit of a commitment issue when it comes to series. However, here I am diving into the first book of a series, and I’m all in!

He stole from a deadly gang, prompting their violent retribution. Meanwhile, a rogue detective pursues him, and Claire is set to discover the dark truths about her husband and her own hidden secrets...
This captivating narrative unfolds through several points of view: Mason, Claire, Brady, Picasso, and Serena. From the very first page, I found myself completely engrossed. The intricate storyline pulls you in, allowing you to piece together the bigger picture, and there’s so much to unpack! The author has done a fantastic job of developing each character, making it easy to recognize their distinct personalities.
Mason is the nearly retired cop who finds himself drawn to Claire, wanting to keep her safe after everything she’s endured. Brady is the shady husband, burdened with secrets from both his past and present, and as the story unfolds, everything comes crashing down. Claire, married into wealth, discovers that her husband is hiding dark truths, while she herself has secrets of her own. Then there’s Picasso, the menacing character who commands respect; crossing him is a dangerous game, as being a crime boss comes with its own challenges. Lastly, we have Serena, the crooked cop whose greed leads her to pay a hefty price. I could go on, but I truly want you to read this book because it’s nearly impossible to put down. The twists keep coming like a relentless storm, and if you can keep up, the pace will leave your Kindle feeling scorching hot—nobody can turn the pages fast enough!

This story reads like a gripping movie or a real-life experience, making it easy to visualize throughout. The author immerses you in these scenarios as if you're watching another SVU episode, right there alongside the police in a chase or a standoff. What a thrill it is to be so close to the Miller family!
This book is a perfect fit for anyone who enjoys fast-paced chapters featuring morally ambiguous characters, intricate personalities, gang members, and a mix of honest and shady cops. If you like trying to figure out who to trust or who to steer clear of, along with solving puzzling cold cases and cases involving money embezzlement, this series will keep you on your toes. What you see is what you get here—plenty of lies and deceit, no unnecessary drama. I really enjoyed this writing style, and it left me wanting more! This was an outstanding first book, and I can’t wait for the next one! I might need a drink or two to keep pace, but I’m ready for book two now! Ha!

Blood Debt had me hooked from the very first chapter. The story is packed with suspense and intensity, making it a fast paced and engaging read that was difficult to put down.
One of the highlights for me was the cast of well developed characters. Their depth and strength made them feel authentic, and the family drama added another layer of intrigue that kept me invested in the story from beginning to end.

Blood Debt is a suspenseful and intense read. I enjoyed the multiple POVs as well as jump between past and present that slowly pieced together the story. The action and tension were great. Some part’s the characters did questionable and weird things but overall a great crime read!

Dark and gritty. Those are two apt words to describe this book. Mason is a detective who gets the job done but uses some not-so-legal methods and is such a flawed character. When Brady and Claire Miller are introduced into the story the author did a good job of misdirecting me from the truth of what happened. The dual timelines and multiple POV really helped to paint a picture of the characters and how they came to be the way they are. The tension was high as the story progressed which was enjoyable. I’m looking forward to the next installment to see what happens next with the Millers!

What Claire doesn’t know is that her husband has been living a dangerous double life, and enemies from his past are coming to collect. As secrets unravel, both husband and wife are forced to confront the truths they’ve kept hidden.
I loved the writing and narration. The multiple POVs and dual timelines between past and present reveal the characters histories while keeping the suspense high. No one feels entirely innocent everyone is shady, with hidden secrets and motives, and that ambiguity adds depth and unpredictability.
The plot is incredibly well written, constantly introducing new revelations and twists that kept me engaged and eager to know what would happen next. Throw in gang violence, investigations, and plenty of cat-and-mouse tension, and I couldn’t put it down.

What starts off as a cut and dry home invasion gone wrong, quickly reveals the secrets Brady has been fighting hard to keep.

The ending was definitely not expected and I can’t wait to read what comes next for the Millers as they try to pick up the pieces of their once perfect life..

Wow.. this was a fun and suspenseful ride! AND, a debut??!! The characters were so well developed. I truly didn’t know who to trust even the police. I loved the multiple POV’s. It was very fast paced and I could not put it down, even more so than other books I’ve read. It had everything that I enjoy in a thriller! Especially twist after twist after twist! I can’t wait to see what the Miller family has in store for them in Book 2!! If you enjoy fast paced thrillers, with multiple POV’s, lies and secrets and the police procedural aspect, I highly recommend this book!

I loved reading this book. Blood Debt had me hooked from the beginning. It is a fast paced read that I always hated to put down. It is the type of book that makes you say, "just one more page" when you are reading it. I could really picture the Miller family (and those trying to find them and protect them) running around North Carolina trying to stay alive. I've never even lived there, which I think speaks to the author’s ability to write a great story. The author does a great job of developing the characters in such a way that I was never sure who to cheer for more. Just when I thought I had figured everything out there always seemed to be a great twist to keep me on my toes. I am looking forward to book 2 to see what the Miller family is up to next. Check out Blood Debt. You'll be glad you did!
