"God made us to always be His link to authority and activity on the earth." (Dutch Sheets, Getting in God's Face, Page 20)

One of the first books I was recommended as a young Christian was a Dutch Sheets book called Intercessory Prayer. This is is an excellent book on how God can use your prayers to move heaven and earth. I agree with some of the other reviews on Goodreads that this book had much of the same information found in that book; however, this book is targeted and reworded for the young people of our generation. I believe this book was written to stir up intercessory prayer and revival in our young people. I believe this would be a great gift to a young person who desires to know how prayer works. It answers some of the greatest questions on prayer. For example, why does a Sovereign God require us to pray? Can't He just do what He wants? Actually God requires you to pray "His kingdom come, His will be done on earth, as it is in heaven." Why is this? This book answers this question and so much more.

To the young person who wants to change their world and their nation.

Subtitled: How Prayer Really Works this is a manual explaining that intercession is the act of standing in the gap on behalf of another between them and God for the situation. As I started reading it, I thought for sure that I’ve read this before and yet I knew I had not. When I started reading comments such as “when your parents ask you…” and then saw the Youth Interests / Prayer heading on the back cover, I realized that this is a version of his Intercessory Prayer book (that I’ve read multiple times) repackaged to make it appealing to a teen audience. I don’t intend for that to be a bad thing; it’s actually a good thing. This adult found it to be a fresh reminder and it boosted my own prayer life as I consciously tried to remember what I’d read as I went to prayer about the things that are close to my heart.

This book is apparently written for the older teen or young adult with only few telltale signsthat it is not for adults . I do believe it is based on another book on prayer by Dutch Sheets. The clarity of writing, examples, and sheer excitement concerning possibilities in prayer, culminate in this book being a simple necessity on the topic.
The end of each chapter has a short prayer and discussion questions. Easily, this could be used a a base for a class but one that is practical, not merely intellectual.
I am convinced that the average Christian knows little about the workings of prayer. This simple book will change that and leave the reader hungry for more.

Really readable, I love Dutch's style, he makes things really accessible and able to be acted on. Loved the concept of prayer filling bowls in order to release God's power, it's the first time someone's made sense of the need for persistence in prayer for me.

Aimed at young people in particular, and slightly US-centric, but plenty of application outside that too.

This is a book on prayer that is oriented toward teens. It tries to be cool and young, but isn't. The info is good. And I think it is a good book for people to read. But it isn't good at being cool.
