The Residency Boys Book 9 • (MM)MMM • Romantic Suspense • BDSM • International Crime • D/s Chosen Family • Primal Predator/Prey • K-Pop MC • Interracial Romance • Trauma
Extradition. Charges. Murder.
Just words, but they rang inside Jun’s head, flooding his veins with ice water. His hands curled into fists. A sense of unreality slid over him. Distance. There was a glass wall between him and the words. He stared at them the way someone stared at a lion, if there was nothing else to stare at, and the lion couldn’t quite reach, but one couldn’t quite get away.
Damian and Jun have weathered several storms since they returned to the US, but the largest and most dangerous one has arrived. The only way out is through. And The Residency is right beside them, for better or for worse.
Playing against their shadowy enemy means dangling Jun and 5N as bait for a predator that has no mercy and vast resources. Figures from Jun’s past have stepped out of the void. Dangerous offers have been made. Freedom is in one hand and destruction is in the other. Can Jun trick the criminal masterminds into believing his ruse while they play for time? Is Damian’s self control strong enough to watch Jun lure them into the trap while dancing on the edge of a knife?
Or will the trap be turned on them?
Read this final volume in the Damian & Jun serial to find out.
This serial is a modern MMM+ BDSM chosen family romance intended for mature audiences only. While Damian and Jun are the central romantic pairing, there are additional characters. There is no cheating. If you like your romance kinky and spicy, then this story is for you.
Ciara Darren is a contemporary romance author writing primarily MM+, but also MX, MF, and FF. Her stories are intense, slow burn serials with chosen family, high heat, power exchange, kink, and diverse representation.
The best place to start in her contemporary romances is Collin: Episodes 1-3, for a gentler introduction to polyamory and kink. Damian & Jun is a sequel serial that can be read on its own but is best after Collin: Episodes 13-15.
For darker work in the same line, look for Sanctum: Prior Claim, coming out Spring 2026, a second-chance romance about escaping the criminal underworld and surviving to thrive. This is a stand alone tie-in serial to The Residency Boys universe and contains spoilers for both the Collin and Damian & Jun serials.

This final installment picks up right where the last left off, with Damian, Jun, and their close circle once again under threat. Between dangerous enemies, an escaped convict, and old wounds resurfacing, the stakes have never been higher but the Residency always has each other’s backs.
I loved watching Damian and Jun’s dynamic deepen here. Jun’s switchy side really shone through, and seeing him grow closer to the other residents added another layer to the found family vibe. The play scenes were written beautifully, some left me wanting more, and I’m sure we’ll see that in future books.
The plot itself was edge-of-your-seat. The climactic concert scene had me holding my breath, and Jun’s interaction with his father was both intense and emotional. I also really appreciated how a certain family’s situation was handled, it wasn’t what I expected, but it made perfect sense.
What stood out the most was how this conclusion tied everything together: the villains finally facing justice, the Residency pulling tighter as a family, and Damian and Jun fully embracing their devotion to each other. The balance between the suspense and the BDSM dynamic was masterful.
Overall, this was a fantastic finale to a gripping serial. I highly recommend the whole series, it’s dark, intense, and full of love, found family, and resilience. I can only hope we get to revisit this group again soon!
I was very much looking forward to this book to see how it would be wrapped up. While I will miss these two I do believe we will continue to see more of them if this continues. At some point I need to go back and reread from the beginning and I mean 1 in The Residency, not just Damian and Jun 1
This book picks up where the last one ended. We still see the men protecting each other and their tight group of friends. They are under attack from several different groups. It does not help when someone escapes from jail, but as close as things get these men have a hand on it.
I was especially pleased to see how a certain family was treated. I was not expecting that after all they had been through but in a way the other family had also been lied to.
I loved the play scenes that we got in this installment. Some leave you wanting more and I think there will be in the next set of books. I loved the continued building of the property.
(I want to reread at least these 4 all together and then come back and update this review. I read the first three over a month ago so I do feel a little separated in the story line. I hope to reread this week.)
Note: This spoiler-free review covers all 16 episodes of the Damian & Jun serial.
When I read the previous serial set in this world, I was pleasantly surprised by the multiple layers of story encompassed in the episodes. I enjoyed the characters enough to happily return for another peek into their world. Once again, Darren takes a handful of familiar romance tropes and elevates them with a solid external plot and satisfying character development. Even better, Damian and Jun are nothing like Colin, giving us brand-new relationships and dynamics to explore along the way. Though they had already begun a tentative relationship before this story takes place, the inciting conflict of this serial seamlessly intertwines with the romance aspects, giving each man the opportunity to support the other regardless of the power exchange nature of their bond. Darren doesn't shy away from the darker elements of what Damian and Jun face; while readers should mind the content warnings, details are used with care and for relevance rather than as an emotional shortcut. I adore this unique found family and the numerous secondary characters who are adopted into the fold, and I'm already looking forward to a return following hints of another relationship I want to see find their happily ever after as well.
Disclaimer: I received digital review copies of episodes 9-16 from the author.
This was an awesome conclusion to the serial. I loved seeing Jun and Damian fall into their dynamic, and seeing Jun's switchy side come out. I also really loved seeing Jun's developing relationship with the other people in the residency. The plot portion of the whole serial has been amazing, and this one was no exception. The climax scene after the concert had me on the edge of my seat the entire time, and I loved seeing Jun's interactions with his father. Things were set up for a few side characters, and I don't want to give any of that away, but I'm so excited for their stories.
This story keeps you out of breath and at the edge of your seat while wrapping you in a warm blanket of community and love. It was a great conclusion to what's been going on in these last 3 books but it left some things a little vague which definitely frustrated me. I really liked seeing everything come together and am intrigued by some of the possible next stories. The bond forming between all these people was a nice thing to witness. I would have loved seeing a little more Residency "downtime" but was also happy with what we got.
In this final installment, the found family that is the “Residency” now has to come together to protect themselves and all their loved ones against the great evil that has abused and traumatized so many people over the years. It is great to see all the relationships continue to build and the devotion to each other for Damian and Jun. As always the BDSM dynamic is amazing and the details to hopefully ending the rein of terror of the villains was masterful. I loved all of these books in the series. Hope to see this group again soon. I highly recommend this series. Enjoy!
It's very bittersweet to be reading the end for these characters. I absolutely loved the found family aspect and it was absolutely needed now at the end more than ever. The villains get their just dues with everyone having a hand in protecting each other from the barrage of danger coming at them from all sides. It was wonderful to see Damian & Jun further develop their dynamic and also find some new areas to explore while also seeing Jun finally getting to know the others better and finally settling in.
This final volume of the stories about Damian and Jun wrapped things up marvelously. It makes me want to dive into the other books about The Residency Boys. I can’t begin to describe it because so much happens and I would be giving things away. The whole series is a great deep dive into a story and I adore all the characters in it in addition to the story itself. Be aware of the warnings and definitely start at book one to enjoy it completely. If I could review the whole series in one I would give it ten stars.
We made it, guys. The ending was everything I had hoped for, and I was so happy to see Jun get justice. I still have a few unanswered questions, but overall am quite happy where things have been left. Really excited that Jun received a small amount of closure regarding a certain missing individual, and that Damian gained kernels of truth surrounding his own family, and peace about the future. This was a great read!
This book lived up to the expectations set by all the others for wrapping things up in a most satisfying fashion. Damian, Jun and the rest of the Residency still have some dangerous hurdles to overcome here and just like Damian, I was on edge watching Jun act as bait to draw their enemies out to be beaten. The action plot was matched by the romance here, getting to see Damian and Jun draw ever closer and Jun become more a part of the Residency family. A wonderful series all the way through.
We come to the end of Jun and Damian’s chapter, where many long-awaited answers finally unfold. Jun takes a step closer to finding peace within himself, proving that family isn’t always defined by blood. Sometimes, it’s the bonds we build—the found and chosen family—that shield us best from dangers coming at us from every direction. It’s a bittersweet ending, but one that leaves our characters stronger, braver, and forever changed.
It seemed like Damian’s family drama was just left hanging and unresolved after a lot of build up about the abusive father and sister. Also, it was hard to suspend disbelief on the incestual child plot because children born from one of their own siblings always have serious health and developmental difficulties and often don’t live a full life expectancy. Overall I enjoyed the books but the church Reno thing never came together for me either.
I received a free copy of this ebook from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest opinion. The final book in Damien and Jun's story. What a fantastic series! The author really put in a little of work. The story is well rounded and finishes with no loose ends. I love the main characters. Their personalities and struggles made them feel real.
Such a fantastic series following Damian & Jun's journey. A definite re read now all the books are out incase I missed anything! A must read series that I highly recommend I received a free arc copy and this is my honest review
