Beach balls, bonfires… and blood-curdling screams!
Who says October has all the funerals? This anthology brings the horror to the heatwave—where every campfire story might be true, every splash in the lake could be your last, and something wicked is always waiting just past the sunscreen.
Six tales of sunny terror guaranteed to leave you more than sunburned!
DNF Summerween Scream by Brody Butcher is a collection of short horror stories. After reading it, I realized short stories just aren't for me.
Most of the stories ended before they felt complete, leaving me wanting more context and a real resolution. The first story starts with a lifeguard discovering a body and trying to solve the mystery himself, but it ends on a cliffhanger before anything is truly resolved. That was my biggest issue throughout the collection.
If you enjoy open-ended stories and using your imagination to fill in the gaps, you might have a better experience than I did. Unfortunately, I prefer fully developed plots with satisfying endings, so this collection wasn't a good fit for my reading taste.
This summer themed horror collection will get you in the mood for the spooky season. These authors each bring something unique to the theme. I look forward to more from each of them.
It's pretty rare to find an anthology where all of the stories are 5 star stories, but these short psychological thrillers come pretty darn close.
My favorites came from one author I was already familiar with and another that is completely new to me.
- A.V. Donaldson with "Murder on the Rocks" - Andy Holberry with "School's Out"
A shout out to Brody Butcher - I was really into "Kasper Bay", but you left me hanging! Are these characters part of a series you have? I would love for this to be a full-fledged novel or even turn into a series with these characters.
Definitely an anthology full of summer themed thrillers!
Summerween Screams takes everything you love about summer—beaches, bonfires, and late-night swims—and turns it into nightmare fuel. These six stories are short, spooky, and full of surprises. Just when you think you’re safe, something sinister shows up. It’s the perfect read if you like your summer fun with a side of chills!
These stories are so good. I just love reading these and getting a different aspect of writing styles from different authors. And this is a perfect Halloween summertime book.
