The Dragon 2

Rate this book
Worship.
Power.
Control.
And the woman bold enough to take it all.

Tokyo’s most dangerous mafia king, Kenji Sato, commands empires with silence, precision, and blood. But ever since Nyomi Palmer—a bold Black American author determined to expose Tokyo’s underworld—steps into his world, his obsession has turned feral.

One dream—her on a throne, his mouth between her thighs—and the Dragon shatters.

Jet planes. Private chefs. Decadent suites. He offers her the empire—but not freedom.

But beneath the luxury and lust, a war is building. With his father—the Fox—threatening his empire, and spies whispering at every border, Kenji must decide if Nyomi is his ultimate weakness. . .or the weapon he needs most.

As the ropes tighten, secrets unravel, and desire transforms into devotion, Nyomi will discover just how far a Dragon will go to possess the woman who dares to master him—and how much blood he’ll spill for her name.

Not what I expected….Spoilers

This book was entirely too long when it didn’t have to be. Over 400 pages and half of it focused on this 1 date. There wasn’t any backstory provided on how she came up with the idea, location and meeting the people who “coached” her. The part of him telling her about the twins he might be expecting was just glossed over and forgiven after a kiss?? That’s quite unbelievable and there was no real dialogue between the 2 all they talked about was sex and nothing else. I’m wondering if this is just a BDSM book series.

This was a panty‑wetting, clit‑throbbing good time, and I mean that with my whole chest. Kenji is a man who knows how to yearn, and the way his yearning finally gets rewarded at the end had me kicking my feet. Nyomi steps fully into her role as a sexual goddess, and the way she brings Kenji to his knees is everything I wanted from her and more. This story ends with a soul‑snatching climax that left me staring at the page, trying to recover, and then Kenya Wright hits me with a cliffhanger that made me immediately ask, “Who is outside the door?” because I need answers. The continuation of the Tokyo Empire is so damn good, and I’m already desperate for the next book.

Wooo, what a rush!

Do I like it or dislike it?! Does a bear shit in the woods?! I LOVED it!! I'm so glad the story was expanded! I ate up the original but this one is slow torture that I relished! Her writing style just sucks you in and the imagery alone made it difficult to pause because I wanted to stay in that world. Perfect escapism for me.

First off, let me just say that I am absolutely loving the story within the story. The way both narratives are developing alongside one another is so well done. They mirror each other without feeling repetitive, and it adds another layer to an already engaging plot. Every time the story shifts, I find myself just as invested in what's happening there as I am in the main storyline.

Now, I have a sneaky suspicion about who is behind all the chaos plaguing Kenji's operations. I'm not saying I'm right, but I'm also not saying I'm wrong. I've got my eye on a certain someone, and I cannot wait to see if my theory pans out.

Can we also talk about Zo? Because I love Zo in this one. Every character needs that ride-or-die friend who will tell you the truth, support your foolishness when necessary, and still have your back when everything goes sideways. Zo is that friend.

And somehow I keep falling for Reo. Every single time he shows up, I'm reminded why he's become one of my favorite characters. The man is loyal, intelligent, dependable, and somehow manages to stay cool while everything around him threatens to burst into flames. Reo is a real one.

Now listen...I'm minding my business, fully immersed in the story. Everything is flowing. Everything is glowing. The pacing is hitting. The tension is building. Then Kenji decides it's the perfect time to make a confession.

Sir.

What?

Like, excuse me? That's what we're doing now?

I literally had to stop and stare at the page for a minute. Kenya Wright really said, "Here's something for you to process," and then kept the story moving like she hadn't just dropped a whole bombshell on readers. We're definitely going to see how that one plays out because I have questions.

And finally, two words:

**Bento. Boxes.**

If you know, you know.

That's it. That's the review.

The people who have read it are already laughing, and the people who haven't are about to find out exactly why those two words are enough to send readers into hysterics.

This series continues to keep me entertained, invested, and constantly guessing. Between the mystery, the character dynamics, the humor, and the moments that make me yell at the book, I'm having a great time.

4.5 stars!

Let me start with a PSA: this is book two in a series. A very intense, emotionally layered, soul-gripping series. If you skip book one, you’ll be lost—like showing up to a firework finale without seeing the fuse get lit. Trust me, you need the buildup.

Now, about that ending… whew. Cliffhanger city. I don’t do well with waiting, especially when the tension is high. But according to Amazon, Ms. Wright is dropping book three in October, and I’m already pacing. Fingers crossed she blesses us with an Audible version, because this story deserves narrators who can match its heat and depth.

Books one and two are pure poetry. Kenji embodies a powerful man—smooth, poised, and calculated in every move. His presence is magnetic, and when he speaks to Nyomi? It’s like the sun itself leaned in to listen. His mind is a masterclass in desire, and how does he paint his intentions? Scorching.

Nyomi doesn’t just match his energy—she commands her own. She stands her ground, refuses to be consumed, and dances with Kenji like a Tiger to his Dragon. Their chemistry is a beautiful, erotic tango that left me breathless more than once.

And my favorite part? Near the end of book two. I won’t spoil it, but let me say this: have your BF, rose, or BOB fully charged and within reach. You’ll need it. “Intense” doesn’t even begin to describe it. I was on the edge of my bed, heart racing, and had to walk away to catch my breath.

This series is not just a read—it’s an experience. And I’m so ready for book three.

Damnnnnnnnnn!!

Ok Kenji is a beast ,my mistake he is a dragon . Naomi just didn't know what she signed herself up for .I love that she has found her voice and she is Claiming her truth and is standing firm as the Queen that she is .Unfortunately for her a true alpha like Kenji would never willing kneel for anyone except the woman that owned him .He knew that's what she needed so he willing gave it to her and his devotion. A true King only does that for his true Queen .Ok so now I'm going to say something that may piss some people off because the Lion is loved by so many but I really didn't care for his story line in the first book .The great thing about the world is that some people can be really good at slot of things but no one person can control everything. The lion in his books is the man but just for me I felt he didn't belong in these books. Let him have his rule his world in the many best sellers books that he has had but its time to let someone else be great too ..I do think the madam did a phenomenal job getting Naomi ready for Kenji and the life that she is now apart of because the woman that was destined to be his queen couldn't be soft his world would eat her up and spit her out .I also really hope we get more on Kenji brother girl and of coarse reo ,I really want to know if he will ever taste Nyomi mac and cheese or any of her food again .I can't wait for book 3

Good book, but not Great...gives tease of Lei from the Diamond Syndicate series

I enjoyed seeing Kenji and Nyomi/Tora get to know each other. The mixing in with the French gangsters Jean Pierre from the Lion and Mouse series...before the Mouse came on the scene clearly. You get to really see how powerful, rich, and dangerous Kenji is, but get to know his inner circle, more of his background. Love Reo and Hiro😍. I also loved seeing more of Nyomi's backstory, her skills and coming into her power as a woman and her ability to "bring em to his knees."

However, a big "NO" for me was some of the religious references to being gods, worshipping people/worshipping body parts, being "holy" in sexy scenes…that became a thing after 50% mark and was heavier the more intense they got. It feels very sacrilegious and offensive in many ways. 2) KW is still gone drag on a few days/one event for a whole book…over 400 pgs for one date that wasn’t even completed really🙄. 3) And “the secret” that is a major game changer was dropped in like an inconvenient detour on a trip, came out of no where, and was glazed over like a cake…as a woman, irl, this game changer could end the whole relationship and they just move on to the next food course😒?!?! Kinda disappointing for A KW book, she usually does a way better job at plot twists and realistic to the situation and characters.

WOW

Yay this is hilariously passionate and I loved enjoyed then loved this even more. Kenji and Nyomi in book 2 is absolutely incredible. It's a magnificent experience of violence, romance and humor. What I really felt that stood out with this series is the depiction of loyalty towards Kenji Hiro, Reo, the Claws and all of Kenji's Crew. Plus I just love Zo and Nyomi banter they had me laughing so hard. And oh my the second date was off the chart. There is lots of action and steamy scenes plus the over the top dinner Nyomi cooked and the way Kenji devoured each dish wow just wow. thoroughly enjoyed reading this dark romance. This story is totally engrossing and it captured my interest from the very beginning. There's so much that keeps you turning the pages in this story. Well this is only book 2 and it's another one with a cliffhanger but still I couldn't put my reader down and talk about a ending wow. You really should read this story actually the entire series. This book is definitely a must read!

HOT!!

I've never read a romance that dedicated 40% of the book to a date between the MCs. Normally, I would probably get impatient to get to the next thing but this was very satisfying. The MCs got to talk and get to know each other, to see what ways they grew up similarly even though they were across the world from each other.

I loved that the FMC planned the 2nd date (the only date in this book, 1st date was in book 1). I loved that she put so much thought into every aspect. The food, the music, the drinks all told the MMC another piece of information about whom and where she came from.

The whole part where the MMC was so nervous and giddy about the date the FMC had planned for him was adorable and hilarious. The MMC was so unused to not being in charge. He kept asking Reo and he wouldn't tell him even one detail and he was so pouty about it. Cute.

Spice and kink (the tiny bit there was) was sexy.

Ugh. I hate to say it but I didn’t love this one. While the first book in this series was great and it left me wanting more, I found this second book to be underwhelming. It felt like 90% of the book was Kenji and Nyomi having dinner. I didn’t care for the addition of the Hiroko character. It just dragged on for wayyyy too long. Every chapter was another course, more tension and Hiroko in the corner watching. By the time they headed upstairs I was ready for it to be done, but then it was chapter after chapter of recapping Hiroko’s advice and this game of who’s dominating who. It just wasn’t for me. It picked up towards the very end— ending of course with a bang, on a cliffhanger, reigniting my interest all over again.

I love the Lion and Mouse series, and the Ruthless Legacy series, and I’m hoping my opinion changes with the next book, because, yes, I do want to read the next one in hopes of it getting better.

Topping expectations

OK! Given how this ended, I have to say the climax of the story in this book took it up a notch for me. OMG. At one point, Nyomi was screaming and I was too. I'm not usually one for this type of power exchange in partnership, but I got there given the way Kenya walked the build of their individual approach to the relationship dynamics, and the subtle interactions during each exchange if you will. I'm ready to get to the next book.
However, I need a slight reprieve to get my own act together. My goodness! BTW - I had no idea Kenji was really trying to play for top lover like this. I think I'm starting to see him really clearly now, though. I just need to see both on display next -- chief gangsta and supreme lover. He doesn't need to play with my Lion either! If so, we gone have problems.

I remember reading this book...

I remember reading this book before but I see its been revised. I like the revision in terms of their relationship and the angst, but I'm sad we lost the plot of her being an author there to research and write a story about the sexual underworld. The tension and lust between Kenji and Nyomi is hot. But I wish you kept the element of her still being interested in writing her story. No more mention of the tape recorder, please bring that element back in the 3rd book. Its not fair Kenji's life and job is taking up the story and all we are getting from Nyomi is her lusting after him. You put more into the dragon and moon part than Nyomi's interests of writing.

WELL DAMN… A Master Class In Stoeytelling

WHEW CHILE’! Where do I begin with this second book! The slow burn, the longing, the sexiness of the wording was absolutely exquisite! Kenya Wright literally kept me on the edge of my seat, at times infuriatingly so with the IS HE OR ISN’T HE GOING TO BEND, IS HE GOING TO HIT THAT OR NOT! This story was so sensually told, and the descriptive way in which each scene unfolds just pulled me in more! I can’t wait for book 3!❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

Whew Baby this is definitely a Fire Starter!

Anybody Got Any Water 💦 Wow this was electrifying! I love the chemistry between Kenji and Nyomi and the Dragon and his Tiger. I love the fact that Nyomi brought her A game for their date. Again thrust into KenyaVerse will have you feeling all sorts of things . The character's development is Awesome, the suspense, the creative intellect in creating this world that you can easily visualize. The heat that these characters give is just combustible! I love it. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Coming fresh off of their first date wakes up and it’s still reeling over their amazing time together. Their world transforms after she decides she wants to plan a date and keep Kenji in the dark. Everything is going well until their date is rudely interrupted when they’re on part two of dessert and everything changes. The book within the book it’s even better in anticipation is revving up for book 3. Continue reading the series you will not regret it whatsoever.

I am very invested in this series but this installment was lacking. I read about 150+ pages of Nyomi and Kenji eating 2 courses of a meal. It was a 4 course meal described but it was just something about the description of everything that seemed to dampen the reading flow. The story was unnecessarily drawn out, repetitive, and grossly over detailed. It didn’t start getting interesting until the very end which did leave me on the edge of my seat.

Things are heating up!

I have to wait a whole month? I can’t. Can I? Unless she shows mercy on us. Please show mercy! 😂 This couples dynamic is one of the best I have ever read. It’s about so much more than physical attraction. It’s about learning each other and opening up to each other, even when the world around you is threatening to burn. I can’t wait for the next book.

Well, Damn

Kenya Wright seduced me with her pen. I’m familiar with her “universe” and, as such, appreciate how characters from other stories are emerging in this series. But when The Dragon returns to Tokyo…the book slows, anticipation builds, and I locked in. She did that! Brava! Eagerly awaiting the 3rd installment!

🔥🔥🔥Wow

Really digging this series, I love how she shows her world through her food!

I love a dominating male and Kenji definitely scratches that itch. However I’m like get it girl and proud of Nyomi for stepping out of her comfort zone and embracing something she wanted to play out.

The dominatrix sado/maso 😌🤏🏾

I tend to just read alien smut but this was amazing!!

Beautiful , just Beautiful

Talk about a erotic, dang. No but in all seriousness this was a delicious slow burn. From start to finish in this second part I was hooked. This is how you write a love story, this is how you introduce readers to not often talked about concepts. This was delightfully sinful.

Omg that ending!!!!! Kenya what are you doing to me. Your writing is so beautiful. I have yet to read an author like you and I have read a lot of books. It's almost like reading poetry with the way you describe things. I loved every minute of this one. To the point I didn't realize I was at the end. That's the sign of a great book.

I am in awe with the way KW writes. This book was a slow burning, erotic love story with some gangsta stuff in the background. So happy I found this author. Looking forward to reading the next installment in this series.

I love this book - the details are amazing. I don't want it to end with book 3 - keep it coming. I want more of this couple. I want to see what happens with Kenji's father and the Russian and how his relationship with the Nyomi evolves. This is really only the second date lol.

What a seduction!

Kenya seduced me as well in this installment of The Dragon! The heat between the Dragon and his Tora could burn down a building. I did feel that the date and seduction was a little too long BUT I can't wait for Book 3!
