MM EROTIC HORROR

Some stories aren’t just painted in blood—they’re carved into flesh, leaving nothing but ruin in their wake.

I survived his world, but not without changing me. Not without sinking me with him into the void. Turns out, sometimes, in order to set something free, you have to destroy it.

The game isn’t over. The lessons aren’t finished. And the deeper I go, the harder it is to tell where he ends and I begin.

THIS IS NOT A ROMANCE.... THIS IS STOCKHOLM... TOXIC WITH NO - ABSOLUTELY NO HAPPY ENDING.. THIS IS MORE OF PSYCHOLOGICAL EROTIC HORROR.

Painter’s Obsession Vol. 2 is not something you casually press play on while doing chores. This audiobook is dark, heavy, and immersive, and it demands your full attention.

I did an immersive read and the duet narration by Joe Arden and Corvin King, with Mia Moreno, is phenomenal. The performances are controlled and emotionally grounded, which makes the darker moments land even harder.

Also, the Blue Nose Audio production is polished and seamless: clean sound, strong pacing, and nothing that pulled me out of the story.

If you enjoy dark romance / erotic horror and audiobooks that fully commit to the tone, this one is absolutely worth listening to.

Ren and Byron’s story was a wild, painful ride.

This book is truly dark and depraved. This is not a HEA love story. It is a legitimate erotic tragic horror. I had the opportunity to listen to the ALC, and Joe Arden and Corvin King absolutely crushed it. Their performances made you feel every ounce of pain and trauma Ren and Byron endure and somehow managed to make you connect with Ren even when you don’t want to.

Please, for the love of all things holy, check your trigger warnings. This book is not for everyone, and it does not hold back.

Byron’s letter at the end had my heart in pieces, and that Gabriella twist? Completely blindsided me 😅 If you’re an unhinged reader, you’ll enjoy this one.

The rating came easily with this book, five stars hands down. The review is where I’m struggling. I read the first book of this duo and as expected after that, this book is full of Stockholm syndrome, gore, PTSD, and chaos. There’s some sensory deprivation, there’s some cannibalism, and there’s plenty of non con and unaliving. The first half of this book tracks with Ren and his psychopathic tendencies because of his past trauma. We got more light shed onto that. But we also see more about Byron’s past trauma. There’s a ton of dark humor in the first 2/3 as well, like y’all I howled laughing because Ren is crazy but he’s also hilarious. However, his character arc is everything. His cracks begin to show. They deepen. And Byron, our boy is losing it. The amount of growth they have in this book is wild and everything. It’s traumatic. It’s gutting. But this book is so much more than an erotic horror, it’s also a beautiful tragedy for two men who are so broken there’s no saving them. And definitely no redemption for a man like Ren. There’s nothing in the world that could prepare me for the ending even tho I saw on the triggers there’s no HEA. It shattered my black heart and physical tears were shed. And I was feeling so raw and then I got to the bonus chapter and I reached a whole new level of broken. I have never cried in a book as hard as I did in that bonus chapter. The bonus is supposed to be healing and in its own effed up way, I suppose it is. I’ll never get over this book, these characters, or the level of artistry it took for the author to weave this story together so intricately over two books. Massive fan. There is a love story here, and I’ll die on this hill… the love Byron had for his sister and the lengths he would go to to protect her.. it made me feel everything, especially their childhood flashbacks. Does he succeed? Only way to find out is to read it. This book is past pitch black MM, it’s gross, it’s violent, it is NOT a romance, and it’s not for everyone. But it was most definitely for me. A tragic unpredictable ending to a story I’ve been invested in since the first page of volume 1. I’d give it more stars if goodreads would let me.

Update: I got the opportunity to continue this duet through the audiobook and I swear it just does something different to the book when you listen to the narrators bringing the story to life, I absolutely loved it and need everyone to read this book 😍

Wow this book somehow got even darker than the last book and damn I was not expecting what happened in this book but I think it definitely was needed and that the ending all though not being the happiest was a perfect ending for this book but I’m so happy I got the opportunity to read this book 😍

This is EASILY the most f**ked up 5 star rating! I could not but this book down. I literally got it 2 hours ago, locked in and devoured it! This is a very dark book and I do not recommend it to those that struggle with dark things but if you can handle dark and I mean DARK, you need to read this! This duet is easily one of my top reads of all time!

ETA for ALC..

Are you kidding me, I easily gave this book 5 stars after reading with my eye balls, but add in the phenomenal narration by Mia Morena, Joe Arden, and Corvin King and you get this masterpiece of an audiobook! Thank you so much to Blue Nose audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.

This was the easiest 5 stars I’ve ever given a book! As sad as this ending was it was perfect! After how Painters Obsession Vol 1 ended this was the perfect conclusion!

Make sure to check your TWs with this one! There is no romance, there is gore, dub con, this is a static white read.

Ren and Byron have the most tragic childhoods I’ve ever read! Byron has his sister Gabriella to shine some light in his life, Ren however, has no one. His fixation on Byron is just that, it’s something he cannot process. Byron much the same way for Ren is definitely part Stockholm and part wanting to delve into darkness with him. I loved getting more flashbacks of both their childhoods, despite being tragic, it shines light on why they are the way they are as adults. This is the most messed up MM twist in Romeo and Juliet you’ll ever read.

There is no HEA, but the epilogue was such a beautiful conclusion.

Thank you so much to Luna K Wicked for allowing me to read this in exchange for my honest review…also, F Kevin…

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (pitch black)

This book absolutely destroyed me… and I mean that as the highest compliment.

This book picks up immediately where volume one ends, and there is no time to breathe. Ren and Byron’s stories continue to unravel in the most brutal, heartbreaking way possible.

Ren’s obsession isn’t romanticized, it’s pathological. He doesn’t know how to process attachment, love, or survival any other way. Byron, on the other hand, feels like a slow descent. Part survival, part surrender, part wanting to understand the darkness even as it consumes him. Watching them come undone together is equal parts horrifying and mesmerizing.

The flashbacks were devastating but leveled the story up for me. They don’t excuse the men they become, but they explain them which creates a love for these characters. And Luna Wicked does this so well.

Let’s be very clear: this is not a romance and it is NOT a HEA. This is an erotic horror tragedy. It’s violent, grotesque, disturbing, and emotionally brutal. There is gore, non-con, unaliving, cannibalism, sensory deprivation, PTSD, and absolute chaos. If that list makes you uncomfortable, this book is not for you.

And yet… there is a love story here. Not a healthy one. Not a redeeming one. But love exists in twisted forms. Byron’s love for his sister gutted me. The lengths he would go to protect her broke something in me, especially when paired with their childhood scenes. I will die on that hill.

The ending is fucking tragic. I knew there was no HEA. I was prepared. I was not prepared for that. I cried. Like real tears. Sat there in silence, cried again, thought about it later, cried more. And then the bonus chapter was healing… but in the most messed-up way imaginable.

I listened to this as an immersive audiobook as I did with volume one, and holy hell — Joe Arden, Corvin King, and Mia Moreno delivered one of the best audio performances I’ve ever experienced. Absolute perfection. They elevated an already brutal story into something unforgettable.

This duet is artistry. It’s ugly and beautiful and painful and haunting. I will never forget Ren, Byron, or the emotional damage this book caused me.

Five stars. Hands down.
But enter at your own risk. 🖤

Painter’s Obsession Volume II was the piece to the puzzle that I very much needed. Volume I was intense, depraved, and unhinged. Volume II gives the raw insight, the foundation that built the monster. A story doesn’t need to have a happy ending to be satisfying. I crave the unconventional and the twists. For me, the Painter’s Obsession story collectively felt like a beautifully dark piece of art. Highly recommend if you enjoy reading something with a deeper meaning that leaves you thinking.

Audiobook ♾️
Spice 3🌶️
Story ♾️

Before we even start, please note that this is a review of the second part of this duet, and I highly suggest experiencing Volume I. Please note that this is a dark Horror erotica book and please read TW and CW. This is not a story with a Happily Ever After!

This audiobook is a truly intense experience of passion and performance that will leave you in awe of these 3 amazing voices and what they can do. Joe Arden as Ren is taking a sociopath to another dimension, and yes i dare say a sociopath, because he wasn’t born like that, his past created and moulded him this way. Joe has imbued his own essence into this character and you can really tell he loves what he does through this godly performance.

Corvin’s King performances are always powerful but I think in this second part we see a different side that Byron has allowed him to become, the vulnerability, the conflict and the trauma made this performance absolutely chilling. Byron and Ren together share a bond, a trauma, in a pitch-black sea I choose to see their connection as a beacon. They need each other more than they know.

In addition to the story, we have Mia Moreno voicing Ren’s mother and Gabriela, Byron’s sister. Mia has poured her heart and soul into these characters that are completely opposite to each other giving us an impressive range of her skills and probably the best side character performance of this year ( yes is early, but it will be really hard to beat).

This book as a story is already exceptional, Luna is a brilliant writer and she understands horror and the elements to create a devastating story. But this audio is by far one of the best audiobooks, it is the perfect example of how an audiobook can elevate a story through the performance, production and perfect editing. Joe, Corvin and Mia fed on each other’s energy and acting, it even makes me wonder if this one was recorded at any point live together.

Luna please never stop writing, you were made for it!
Thank you Blue Nose and Luna for allowing me access to this ALC, my opinions are my own.

Even though I forced myself to finish book 1, I still picked up book 2 hoping I’d like it more. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. I didn’t end up DNF’ing it like I thought I might (like with volume 1), but it still didn’t fully work for me.

I went into this duet hoping it might come close to or even beat my love for Danse Macabre and My Name Is Tryst, but sadly, it didn’t.

This is dark and definitely not a romance. Check the trigger warnings

I was prepared for blood and gore, but I wasn’t prepared for the heartbreak. I loved this so much, but I was definitely not ready for the ending. I liked getting to know Ren more and seeing him struggle with his need for Byron. And Byron, doing everything he could to keep Gabby safe. In the end, even though he “chose” Ren, he did it for his sister.

OMG I’m a wreck after finishing this book!!! The broken boy and the psychopath. This book answered a lot of questions we really get in to depth of Ren’s past and the way his mind works. Ren and Byron both have trauma from their parents and that definitely plays a big part in who they are. This is extremely dark but it also tragically beautiful. This was a perfect ending to their story!!

’A ruined canvas…still begging for the artist.’

Re-read as an audiobook -yeah, I had to listen to the second part as well. I'm probably in the minority in not liking this audiobook version that much. It's not even that the narrators didn't do a good job, but I'm just not a fan of Joe Arden as Ren; to me, he just didn't suit the role -I had imagined something different.

On my second reading, I realized that I don't really like either of the main characters, or any of the supporting characters for that matter 😂 their actions kind of frustrated me, especially Byron. And as I said in my previous review, this second part was very similar to the first, following the same pattern. The ending really saves the book though; it's touching and just the right way for this to end.

Like with part 1 this was more close to 3⭐️ but decided to not change the rating now since the audiobook might’ve affected the experience.

Previous review:

The second book wasn't as good as I thought it would be. I would have given it a lower rating, but the ending got me and saved the whole book. I was eagerly awaiting the second part after finishing the first book. I didn't know what to expect, but I was a little disappointed. The content was pretty much the same as in the first book, and it started to get a little boring—although that's not really the right word to describe this book, repetitive?

However, what was better about this one was that Ren's facade starts to unravel and we get a better understanding of his trauma -the book goes a little deeper into Ren's psyche. And also Byron’s.

The ending is one of the most touching I've read in a long time, and it left me feeling empty—but I regret nothing.
__________

”I didn’t need his terror. I wanted his submission as partnership in my darkness. I didn’t need his light shining through my cracks. I needed to remind myself who I am. And that’s fucking Ren Sato.”

”He looks so beautifully broken. Byron is a mosaic of shattered pieces—rough around the edges, his own masterpiece built from pain and violence.”

“Ren,” he begins, but I bring my finger to his lips, soft and warm like it’s never been touched by blood.
”Shhh. Don’t ruin the moment. For one second, let’s play pretend. Let’s pretend this isn’t ruin. That there’s hope. That I am not Ren and you’re not Byron. We are just existing.”

”If I only get this moment with him of whatever this is—I want to indulge in it. I want to consume it. I want to burn it into me so the void has something to choke on. I want to feel the warmth of his light, even if it’s temporary. I want to believe the sun is touching me, not passing through. I’m so tired of the void. So tired of it chewing holes in me, of it dragging me back every time I try to reach for something beautiful.”

I can’t even think of where to begin with this !!! First off if you looking at these reviews deciding your next read .. this is beyond pitch black … it’s static white …. Full of so many triggers that if you need to scroll through to make sure it doesn’t hit one…. Just assume it does .. ok….‼️‼️ If that’s an issue maybe find a hockey book or Wild West story . This isn’t for you !! THOSE that are still reading !!! 👀👀 LOOK❗️⚠️ What a beautiful f*n nightmare this is …. Psychotic Romeo and Juliet. Scratch that Romeo and Romeo Remix taken place in Hell! Ate this whole thing up ! Luna Killed this in the most poetic way! It’s everything and more .. I’m still trying to find the emotions and I’m currently still in the wrecked and numb stages and can’t move on .Forever in my heart will it live … and all its Emotional Damage.. obsessed with every piece of it . Out did her self honestly ! -And don’t let it fool you thinking it’s not a romance .. in the unconventional way it’s romance at its best if you’re into the not happily ever after but the vision of it ! And the BONUS CHAPTER …. Yall ain’t ready for that !!! No spoilers here enjoy the f*n ride and hold the hell on !!!

Edit to add: I reread this as an audiobook as a reread and I did volume I followed immediately by volume II and I am absolutely WRECKED. I literally cried at the end even though I knew what was coming but with Joe Arden and Corvin King?! I honestly have to say one of the BEST audio duets I have EVER heard. Pure perfection.

This book absolutely WRECKED my heart and soul; straight tore it to pieces that I LITERALLY cried and had to go for a run I was so overwhelmed.

I absolutely loved the first one, and begged to have a continuation because of the way she ended the first one. I knew this wasn’t going to have a happy ending, I just didn’t think it was going to end the way it did. The way it ended though is incredibly fitting, just hurts! This book picks up immediately after where book 1 ends and flows very well. You watch how both MMCs break and come undone, one willingly and the other not completely understanding what is happening to him. Ren is my absolutely favorite and my heart broke for him the most. While both mmcs upbringing was rough,REN went through it to where it made him who he is, while Byron hid and became what his sister needed. You watch REN unravel but not fully understanding how or why; since he never understood or learned what real love was, to him it was a sickness that needed destroying 😭 so when he unraveled he was clueless but he didn’t fight it,. Byron was never my favorite as he would never cave to Ren, and that frustrated the shit out of me 😂 but in PO2 you see him, understand his truth and accept it. The way he finally chose Ren over his sister made me SO happy.

This book is NOT a HEA. The ending is fucking tragic and causes so much devastation but it is a perfect duet.

i didn't think it was possible truly to top volume 1 for me but hey again,words are failing me,volume 2 has topped it ten fold.. i'm literally writing this with tears scrolling down my face,never did i ever think horror could be so beautiful,never did i ever think a story so dark could break my heart in a way this has,these characters... i cried.. i cried so much..

when i tell you - non HEA,is an understatement and usually i would be a hater,but this... this is so gut wrenching but so perfect,the ending is right, it feels right. it is how it should end but when i tell you,letting go of these characters is going to be so hard for me.. they are so special to me,i have a place in my heart for these boys,always. not a love story yet i felt love from it,in a fucked up way,it's a tragic love story... a one built on tradegy and loss and truly,i don't know why i didn't read sooner because they are the most beautiful fucked up stories i've come in to contact with,so dark,so depraved,so incredibly raw.. guttural raw is all you feel when reading this.

although an erotic horror,i was indeed horrified but i felt something more,i can't even explain it,i rarely read books in one day (short attention span queen x) so it has to be good,the minute i finished volume 1 i was already thinking about volume 2,i had a brief intermission & i literally when i tell you i dreamt about these characters,i replayed the story in my head,i cried,so many times.. these characters truly have got into the fucked up part of me,they're engrained in their and i'm not letting them go,they're mine now i guess.. they'll forever be a part of me,as will this story,it feels to me a story of understanding,a story of carnal desire,a story of self acceptance,a story of love (however tragic) & for that,if anything is a testament to luna and her work,her work is art.. these books are a work of art,in so many ways. a story so beautifully fucked up is all i can say,5 stars for me⭐️

let's rate i guess? it's probably obviously but here we go :

characters? 5⭐️ ren,byron,gabriella (especially in this book).. they all are just characters i feel a pull too,call me crazy,call me whatever you feel is fitting but just something is special to me about them,they showed me.. darkness can also be beautiful.

plot? 5⭐️ such a great plot,a novel with a plot that truly will have you gripped from the beginning,it's a story written to perfection not only in the artistry but in the wording,in the format,in the speed + pace of it.. all of it is perfect. a story of depravity,lined in spice,lined in power and control.

spice? 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ a story of control of power,of a power dynamic most wouldn't understand,a dynamic on pain and desire,a dynamic most wouldn't enjoy but as somebody who is immersed in this world,luna wrote it perfectly,down to the wording,to the descriptions,the spice showcased standalone the story and the realtionship these boys have. and for that,i applaud her,not many can capture such a dynamic so perfectly & as somebody immersed in the world,beautiful to me honestly,raw carnal desire. it was beautiful and i highlyyyyy rate the spice,from beginning to end.

gore? 🩸🩸🩸 not as gorey as book 1 as i feel but definitely gorey in a different way,the gore took a different turn,the gore took a more horror way and i personally loved it,it was perfect for this story,no shock value,just an art in writing fucked up shit i guess,so luna,we love you for that!!

overall?? 5⭐️ easily 5 stars,a story i'll hold near and dear as my first erotic horror duet,as a story that showed me the darkness,that truly pushed me into the void,and quite frankly.. i don't see this stopping,i've finally found my soul author,luna,you write the most beautiful stories and it is an honour to read your darkness and feel just so seen and not judged at all,we're all just a little warped together.🩶

Audiobook Review:
Produced by Blue Nose Audio:
Performed in duet by…
✨Joe Arden
✨Corvin King
featuring Mia Moreno.

This is volume two of the Painter's Obsession duet by Luna K. Wicked. And it ripped out my entire soul smushed it into a thousand pieces…an utter divine torment!

Hold onto your headphones for this incredible audio experience. You will be tested time and again! This is a truly dark experience from beginning to end. We start where we left off in book 1 with the continuation of these incredible characters stories.

Book 2 in this series is for me, a multitude of levels darker than book 1. It has taken me so much longer to process… I absolutely loved every soul destroying moment… The range of emotions this masterpiece takes you through with each chapter is incredible. You will find yourself sobbing and uncontrollably emotional with these phenomenal performances that bring you deeper into this narrative, the heartbreaking storylines and the incredible and profound talent of these unrivaled voice actors. One of the most profound audio experiences to date.

Both Joe Arden and Corvin King give such deeply emotional and heartfelt performances they are truly inspiring and incredibly powerful. I found myself unable to stop listening and certainly didn’t want to. And in the darkest moments these performances made me feel utter overwhelming sadness and empathy for both of these amazing characters. Absolutely phenomenal and somewhat haunting, just wow!

Mia Moreno was utterly brilliant and so integral to the overall narrative. An incredible talent and amazing performance that brings this brutal story to another level.

I don’t want to give anything away, but I urge everyone to double check your triggers! this is not a romance and there is no HEA. Prepare yourself!

This is the darkest of dark erotic horror…emotionally brutal, disturbing and all the things that could make anyone profoundly uncomfortable. But, for me, this is absolute perfection!

Bravo… to everyone involved in this production!

📖 Painter’s Obsession, Vol. II by Luna K. Wicked

🎧 Format: Audiobook
🎙️ Narrators: Joe Arden, Corvin King, feat. Mia Morena

READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS ‼️

🗣️ Quote: “Love doesn’t exist here…” 😭

✍️ Non-Spoiler Audiobook Review
No words can properly describe the amount of fck’ed-up-ness this book was… is. What did I just consume? A dark and disturbing masterpiece? Yes… An unforgettable, raw performance by two incredibly talented voice actors? Again, YES! Don’t mind me as I sit here and stare at absolutely NOTHING for a while. Finishing Ren and Byron’s story has left me feeling raw and out of sorts.

🗣️ “A ruined canvas still begging for the artist.” 😭

I cannot stress enough… READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS. This audiobook was dark, disturbing, heartbreaking and uncomfortable at times. Yes, even more so than Vol. one. Corvin King, Joe Arden, and Mia Morena’s performances left me feeling emotionally drained and a bit unsettled. The amount of trauma, fear and hopelessness portrayed was tangible. My stomached ached, my mind twisted and several times I wanted to yell at the mind-fuckery that was taking place.

Painter’s Obsession II picks up right where book one ended and it’s raw and brutal. So many emotions were felt from the past and present. My heart broke for both Ren and Byron. Is it possible to self diagnose Stockholm Syndrome? Asking for friend 😅
Through all the grit and darkness, the manipulation and abuse, there’s a disturbing beauty to Ren and Byron’s situation. Their intense and toxic story may not be for everyone, but if you want to know, definitely listen in audio. The experience of this audiobook is something that will stay with you for several days after you listen to the last word.

🗣️ “I’m so tired of the void…” 🥺

If you have not listened to this duet yet or at least added it to your TBL, THIS is your sign. Painter’s Obsession is a Dark, MM Erotic Horror that is in no way a dark romance and definitely not for the faint of heart. Joe and Corvin deserve all the praises for their amazing acting talents because…
Mind. Fck’ng. Blown. Their transformation into these unstable and emotionally skewed characters; absolutely brilliant.

More than 5 stars.

This duet destroyed me. I bawled my fucking eyes out. This is not romance y'all. Dont come here looking for emotions or love. This is a VERY DARK story about obsession, trauma, and two people who were both broken long before they met each other.

What happened between Byron and Ren was unhealthy, traumatic, painful and destructive. And the thing is.. that their story is not devastating because *SPOILER* they both die in the end. Its devastating because you realize this was the only ending they could ever have.

Byron was literally walking trauma and Ren is what happens when abuse shapes someone into a monster instead of a survivor. Like you're not meant to like Ren. You're not meant to understand his actions even after you see all the abuse he went through.. but somehow i still felt really sad for him. Like that boy had no chance to a healthy future. He didn't get a chance to escape and become someone else.

And you'll notice that when Byron enters his life.. its too late. He couldn't save Ren or change him. Because Ren wasn't just evil at that point, he was repeating the only shape of "love" he had ever received in his life. And that shape of "love" is one of the most disturbing, sick and toxic things you've ever encountered.

Byron specifically broke my heart bc he was so damaged that he chased Ren not because he wanted him but because he was craving the end he knew only Ren could give him.

Again.. this duet destroyed me. If you ever come across it and decide to read it have in mind that its MM horror erotica. Not romance. It's disturbing, heavy and full of triggers. If you expect healing or redemption, this is not that book. This book is gonna make you sad. Its gonna make you cry. Embrace it because honestly its worth it.

You have to read Vol. 1 in order to care about what is happening in this book. Yes, vol1 has a bit of MF but Ren is a straight serial killer who has been heavily damaged by his mother's depravity so he kills & screws some ladies - it's not a big deal. On to this book - I developed quite an obsession myself with this duet. I know I only gave book one 3⭐ but I felt the immediate pull to go onto this book.
“FUCK YOU!” I scream as I continue to punch the mirror, the sharp glass continuing to penetrate my skin, but it’s not the physical pain that’s killing me... destroying me... it’s what’s inside. The feeling I can’t rip away. My commotion must have woken up the monster, feeling his warm arms wrap around me. It’s like water splashing on fire. Sun and moon colliding, creating the perfect bloody eclipse. “Shh,” he coos in my ear. “I’m here,” he says, as if that’s supposed to be reassuring or comforting.
There is literally no warmth or cute moments bewteen the MCs. Every time Ren feels feelings coming on he does something awful to Byron. Byron? Well he's equally obsessed with his captor but both these guys are so freaking broken by their pasts that they really have little hope of making it out of this in a happy way.

No, there is no romance but yes there is sex. Sometimes messy sex. There is also murder and cannibalism and torture etc.

I was so sick of hearing about Byron's sister Gabriela but that girl proved she was worth her weight in gold during the epilogue. She did not have to do what she did, but because she loved Byron so much she did it. And that elevated Gabi up to superstar status in my book.

If you enjoy crying over no HEAs in great stories you're going to enjoy this dark tale. Book 2 is better than book 1 in my opinion.

After sitting with this for a day, I’m back because I had more to say.

First, thank you to Blue Nose Audio for the ALC. I rated both the story and the narration five stars, and I stand by it. People might think I’m unhinged for saying this, but for me, this is ultimately a story about love and there are so many layered, uncomfortable truths woven into it. Love isn’t always soft or beautiful. Love can create monsters. Life isn’t black and white; it exists in endless shades of gray, and this story embraces that fully.

At its core, Painter’s Obsession is driven by the pure, unwavering love Byron and Gabby feel for each other. That bond is the emotional heartbeat of the entire story. Ren sees it, despises it, and cannot understand it. He hates what he believes should be easy to destroy, yet isn’t.

Then there’s Ren’s obsession with Byron. Because Ren is a psychopath, he lacks the emotional depth to understand what those feelings truly are. In this volume, we watch him grapple with emotions he has never been taught to process, because he was never shown what pure love looks like. We get deeper insight into Ren’s inner dialogue, the thoughts that haunt him, and the experiences that shaped him.

And I know this take may get me roasted, but even Ren’s mother loved him. It was twisted, depraved, and deeply abusive. She was undeniably a horrible person, but even Ren acknowledges that she struggled. That complexity doesn’t excuse her actions, but it reinforces the book’s central theme: love, when warped, can still exist… and still cause devastating harm.

This story is dark, disturbing, and emotionally challenging, but it’s also layered, intentional, and unforgettable.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am unwell. This book destroyed me. At the very core of this story is love. Some pure, some twisted and depraved.
The audio enhanced the experience, and the narrators really brought the story to life.
It’s not over for Ren & Byron
Having escaped the evil, Ren Soto, Byron has bought a beautiful house with his sister, Gabriella, and he goes to meetings to deal with the trauma of what Ren did to him. He’s become a person that others who have gone through similar situations, can look up to. He thinks Ren is gone .. for good but what he doesn’t know.. yet.. is that because he’s been speaking out publicly… Ren has been watching and waiting for the perfect moment to take back what belongs to him. Ren is determined to bring Byron with him.. into the void.
I loved that this book pieced together so much of the puzzle that is Ren and Byron. I cannot stress this enough.. you must, MUST, check your trigger warnings. This is NOT a romance.. it’s not even a DARK romance.. it’s MM Erotic Horror and it does NOT have an HEA. Ren and Byron’s story is toxic to the max. It’s Stockholm Syndrome at its finest. The narrators did such an amazing job at embodying the characters’ personalities. There’s even dark humor involved that had me chucking cuz Ren? He’s truly sick AF.
I can honestly say I enjoyed every moment of these 2 books. From all the sick and twisted shit that happened, to the torment and the anguish. But what I did NOT expect what that ending?? Literally CRIED!!! I was not expecting to cry for these characters and I was in public while listening and I couldn’t help it.. the raw emotion, th feelings, all the events ultimately culminated into one seriously tragic ending.
Now if you don’t mind a 2 page list of tropes, a psychopath, painting with blood, and lots of gore? I DEFINITELY recommend this duet!!
🎧Audiobook Review🎧Painters Obsession Vol I & II by Luna K. Wicked
𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆: 5 🌟
𝙒𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙄 𝙍𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙙? YES!
𝙃𝙤𝙬'𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙎𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙚? Not sure how to answer this 🫣
WHEW!!! I’m honestly not sure where to begin. Did I love it? Fuck yes!! Am I questioning myself for loving it? Also, fuck yes! Luna you absolutely nailed this book and the narrators you chose were absolutely perfect. Corvin King, Joe Arden and Mia Moreno performed this book…they didn’t just narrate…I felt as though I was there witnessing it right before my eyes.
I have to say up this is a close tie to The Boy I Loved as far as the most unhinged and deranged book I’ve ever read. The story of Ren and Byron is NOT a romance. I repeat NOT A ROMANCE! This is pitch black erotic MM horror. Both MMCs have major trauma that has forever scarred them and shaped who they are today. They are both vulnerable and tortured in their own ways which is why I think they were “drawn” to each other. I’m not sure if that’s the right way to describe it but I feel like they were. This ended the way it always should have. I gotta say I never saw the small twist at the bitter end. But the letter from Byron had me sobbing.
That’s all I can really say…you must experience it for yourself. I highly recommend the audio or maybe an immersive read for the full experience. ⚠️But please HEAR ME - CHECK THE TRIGGERS…This isn’t for the weak or a newbie to dark romance/erotic horror⚠️
An erotic horror tragedy. Ren is so broken by his mother and father that is outlet is creation through death. Byron was physically and emotionally abused by his father due to his sexuality that he spent his whole life hiding from his truth and the person he is. His sister was his strength. His purpose. The only thing he loved. Byron becomes Ren's obsession, and Ren soon becomes Byron's. These men are so broken and find themselves in each other. This isn't romantic love. This is true obsession and it's truly tragic. I devoured the second book and audio, and I didn't expect to feel it in my bones. It was painful and the way I cried for what could have been if they weren't Ren and Byron but just two people existing in another life. The epilogue had me an absolute mess and it was definitely one of those 'stare at the walls for hours' kind of ending. Painful yet cathartic.
Luna K Wicked did an outstanding job writing this book, it's even better than the first one and that's saying a lot because the first was an outstanding dark read!
The book is pitch black & beyond. The characters and plot will take your emotions, twist them and throw them back at you in your face. This is not a bad thing but damn!
Ren was not my favorite character in the first book but as of now, he's written in pen at the top. Luna gives us so much into Ren & Byron in these chapters. A true deep dive into the pits of hell. So much is explained about their lives growing up to now. We get to see who they are and what they desire so deeply.
There are warnings from the author, read them, maybe twice. Thank you Luna K Wicked for your fabulous dark stories, I'm going to patiently wait to see what you have for us next!!
I was so excited to have a second book!! Ren is my man!!PO volume 2 is darker, deeper, and even more disturbing than the first—and that’s saying something because i love dark stuff, beyond dark! This is psychological horror meets pitch-black obsession, with no happy ending in sight. Ren and Byron’s story takes a gut-wrenching dive into trauma, identity, and desire. Luna is amazing at peeling back the layers of the characters broken pasts, leaving you raw. If you're into extreme dark romance/horror, this one will wreck you in the best way. ‼️‼️Check your trigger warnings‼️‼️
Still trying to process…honestly? This audio was so toxic and brutal, but written so damn well. It’s pain, it’s torture, it’s obsession, it’s everything my twisted mind craves, but then Luna K Wicked gutted me like a fish. This book absolutely destroyed me.
The emotion Joe Arden and Corvin King brought to this audio was incredible. They gave me absolute chills. Two men losing themselves in the obsession. This book wasn’t easy to listen to, it’s messed up. Probably one of the darkest I’ve read, but if you’re into that, tread lightly.
I had so many emotions for every character in this book, even Wren. Seeing him fight his own demons and the way his character written was phenomenal, and Joe Arden gave him justice…honestly I can’t imagine any other narrator for this book. It just..it was perfection. Mia Moreno did a phenomenal job with the female characters. God her emotion guts you. I can’t say enough about these narrators!
But like it says in the beginning. This book is not a romance. It’s dark, deprived, and twisted. And it’s written to make you uncomfortable, and it hit its mark thoroughly. But it sticks its claws in and keeps you hooked. I will NEVER forget this duet
Thank you to the author and blue nose audio for the ALC in exchange for honest review!
