Wish #4

Rate this book

5 star Review If Stars Were Wishes (Wish #4) by Audrey Carlin
This is the final book in the series and was a good way to end the series. This is Catori Ross’s story and it was a great addition to the series. This was such a well written, emotional story that drew me in and held me captive from the first chapter to the last. Although this is a stand alone, I recommend you reading the books in the series as I believe it will add to your enjoyment of If Stars Were Wishes.
Having read her daughter’s story I could not wait to dive in to Catori’s story and what a rock road she travelled. There were so many up and downs throughout her life that brought me to tears and to laughter.

Her life was full and meaningful, she packed a lot into her adventurous life and I loved her spirit and desire to take on the world. She may not have had a long life, but she certainly made every day count and I admired that.
This book had all the emotions tugging at my heart and I found myself with a book hangover once I finished. Thank you Audrey Carlin for writing such a beautiful and emotional story.

My journey has been rife with uncertainty, joy, fear, love, hate, strife, sacrifice, and everything in between. I’ve experienced unbelievable pleasure and gut-wrenching pain. Some may despise me for the choices I’ve made. Some may applaud them. Either way, I lived for today.

You've seen the adventures of my 3 talented, exceptional daughters - Suda Kaye, Evie and Isabeau.
My name is Catori…and this is my story.

Such a beautiful and emotional journey Catori takes us on in this poignant finale to the Wish series!

“Because you are the most stunning woman I’ve ever seen. Because you dance as though moving with music gives you life. Because when I looked into your eyes, I knew I’d seen my future.”

Audrey Carlan has an amazing gift for story telling, and I admire her for writing this complex, moving and unconventional story of a woman and family living by their own rules - it’s simply awe inspiring.

I am left with so many feelings, this story spoke to me in many profound ways and truly touched my heart.

If Stars Were Wishes
Audrey Carlan
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Absolute perfection! This story held so much I’m struggling to put into words, that make sense, share my feeling, the impact this had in my life. If you’ve read the previous stories in this series, you’ll already know about Catori, her children, but what we didn’t know was her journey! A journey filled with laughs, loves, and tears, like gut wrenching tears. I haven’t read a story that left the “feels” this one did.

Catori Ross was always a free spirit, she was the light of her parents lives, she didn’t stay in one place, she was made for travel, to love her truth… That truth led her into Adam Ross’s arms, a place filled with more then life had given her. Marriage and a child following quickly, beautiful Evie pathing a new path into motherhood. But as she returned to the Reservation that was home with her mother and father, and her husband Adam returning to the armed forces on deployment, she feels missing pieces everyday day… With her mother’s blessing Catori takes to the world again, sewing her life’s loves, and finding another love that to created another life!

While he next child enters the world, it’s clear that the “Creator” has his sights on a full life for Catori, another daughter Suda Kaye. She is the fruits of her wild ways, but a blessing to the Comanche people, and another child for her trailing mother to love! While Catori lives and loves in spades it doesn’t change her lifeline. With the same gene as her mother, catori only had a short life and she lived everyday like it was her last…. While beautiful, and filled with laughs and hard love, it was definitely so very sad!

Huge cud’s goes to author Audrey Carlan, this can’t have been an easy story to write and create but to journey with her and Catori, it is a blessing. I may even gaze up at the stars tonight 💫

I don't even know where to begin. It's been a few days since I finished Catori's story, and I still don't know how to put my feelings into words. After reading the stories of Catori's daughters I had an image of Catori that I wasn't sure I really liked. But this story, learning about Catori's background, changed everything! Do I agree with all of her choices...nope! But can I say with absolute certainty that if I was in her position I wouldn't have done the same things....nope!

Catori has always had a desire to spread her wings and fly! To see everything of this world and have as many experiences as possible in the time that she's got. When she locks eyes with a stunning man named Adam while dancing with her dance troupe, her entire life changes. Their relationship is far from conventional, but for them it works. The love and trust that they have in each other is inspirational.

I thank Audrey Carlan for sharing this amazing love story with us all. This story shows the absolute unending love that exists in all forms. Love between a man and a woman, and the all-powerful love of family.

My God this store is deep, intense in a good way on so many levels. If you want to feel all the feels this is the book for you. Catori many may not feel this way, but I do so here we go. I felt like Catori should be a part of all of us on this earth. We should live life as if it was our very last day. Catori in my heart was selfless to those that she loved the most. She knew that her life would be different from her time of birth. Being born on a reservation with all the belief system that we have. She was able to pass this down to her children but all with the help of her mother and Father. I broke down a few times while reading this book because of all the love that I was able to feel. I am in awe of this women for being able to believe so hard on the Star’s to make these wish. The fact they came true was so beautiful. Audrey has a God even gift to be able to write the way that she does. She pulls you in and breaks you while building you up. This store was filled with love, compassion and dreams. It was also filled with facts that have truly taken place in many lives that have walked before us. The fact that she was able to long like no other, fight for her dream and the lives of those around her made me love her even harder. Life is way too short and this has been proven. We must live each day like it is our very last and we might just be that much happier, and I am thankful for these stories that have filled my heart. Update: Please don't discredit the Author because you may not like what a character does with their life. Think about this for a moment if you lived this life what would you do? This store bring about a view that someone has walked through in life. If it each day could be your last I would hope you lived it to the best of you ability with love and light.

Love, acceptance, family, living for others while also living for yourself.

Living loud, loving fully.

Taking what you can't understand and adapting it to accommodate the life that's right for you and your partner.

Super unconventional and will rub you the wrong way simply because of beliefs that have been ingrained in us from day one about the roles people are supposed to play in our lives.

This book was very hard to read at times. I didn't agree with a lot of the decisions Catori made but, being honest, I certainly could understand them. You may think of it as putting off responsibility onto others...but, also see it as knowing the cards dealt to her and her not always putting her own wants and needs in a cage. She wasn't afraid to put herself first while still being capable of loving others fully. The epitome of free spirit. So, while she is a character that I can neither love nor hate, she is certainly a character that I can recognize and even identify a bit with!

Adam, however, was a character I could love...love and respect. Cause, while he wasn't perfect, he WAS perfect for Catori! Halves of a whole soul. He had so much strength and understanding, which was exactly the kind of person Catori needed in her life to balance her out. They are so very similar and yet so different. Such a unique love/relationship.

The family aspect in this story was simply beautiful...all of it. I loved the history there. And, not just that of Catori...also the family relationships she created on her own journey. They really gave the book a lot of light and warmth. The book was full of so much emotion. Having read the others in the series, it was really good to read Catori's (and Adam's!) story.

I'd like to say that I agreed with everything the main character did... but that would be a lie. Let me also add that I sat on this review for a few days b/c I didn't know how to put down words for what I was feeling. Back to the main character, Catori. Catori is such a  diverse individual. Without adding spoilers, let's just say some of her actions had caused me to have a wtf reaction. Was she selfish? No. Was she loving and caring? Absolutely. I believe her intentions were pure. However, I couldn't imagine doing some of stuff she did. But that's the beauty of a book and when a author can write a story soo complexed and different from others? You have no choice but to sit back and enjoy and say would I have done the same? Overall, If Stars Were Wishes, was beautifully written, page turner and of course 5 🌟.

The final book in the Wish Series and what a perfect journey to end this beautifully written series on. This is Catori Ross’s emotional story and it was a story I couldn’t wait to read because after reading her daughters journey I needed more, I needed to know the woman who has given up so much for her talented, exceptional daughters. Catori’s journey is emotional yet entertaining and it’s a journey I highly recommend you join. This can be read as a stand-alone but I think you would get more out of this book if you read the previous books first.
This is a woman who life is adventurous and meaningful, she has a strong desire to live her life her way and no one will break her spirit. Her life may not be long but she made everyday special…….
Ms Carlan has an amazing talent for drawing us in to her beautifully written stories, for making us feel every emotional as we join the often bumpy road to happiness. She gives us characters we are bond with and who stay with us long after the final words have been read. This book touched me on so many levels, I cried, I laughed and honestly I felt every emotion possible as joined this very special ladies journey. I haven’t had a book hangover like this in so long, so I thank you Ms Carlan for finishing this series with the woman who started it all Catari Ross!!!!

I was blown away by Catori's story.

Catori is a sweet and loving young woman who wants to experience more than the Native American Reservation she lives on can provide. Catori knows her time on Earth is limited and wants to live life to the fullest.

Leaving with her dance group to travel the country, Catori takes the opportunity to feel free and open to learning from the new world around her. While in Atlantic City, Catori meets Adam, a career military man, is immediately drawn to him like no other, and realizes that he is her soulmate. On a whim, they get married. Catori and Adam are very open with each other from the beginning and know the road ahead will not be easy, but they love each other and are willing to work through the difficult times.

Catori and Adam begin their life together with a big surprise. Becoming a family of three was not originally the plan but one they embraced. Moving back to the reservation to have Catori's family for support is a key to their future happiness.

Things take a turn when Adam leaves for a long deployment and Catori begins to question whether she is a good mother and has the ability to bond with Evie. At the instance of her mother, Catori once again joins the dance group where she finally begins to feel like herself again, free and light. While away, Catori meets Ian and bonds with him on a physical level and finds herself in a happier and healthier place. After her time with Ian, Catori is once faced with making hard decisions that will change her family dynamic and her future. With her husband by her side, choices are made and her future is set in place, once again.

Warning: Read with a box of tissues in hand.

I loved reading Catori's story and seeing her strength and love for her family flourish.

A must read in the Wish Series!

If Stars Were Wishes by Audrey Carlan is an arduous read.

Why?

So many emotions. And so much depth.

Carlan takes her readers on a journey. One that’s not easy. But one that is filled with Catori’s truths.

And these truths will impact every reader who takes this journey.

Catori, aka Tori, knows she won’t live a long life.

So she sets out to explore the world around her.

Along the way she meets the love of her life Adam.

Adam is not perfect, and is away a lot serving his Country.

But their love is real and it is strong.

As Catori lives the life she has to live, she will make decisions and mistakes that will gut you. But they are hers to make.

She also has four girls that will live on, knowing that they were loved and that they have her strength within them.

You will get angry in places. You will cry in others.

But at the end, you will know you’ve experienced a book that will resonate with you always.

I absolutely loved reading Catori’s story. After reading the first 3 books about her daughters I did feel like we hadn’t really known or understood why Catori did the things she did. This book is stunningly wrote and you really get to know Catori, you will go through the emotions with her, you will eventually understand why she was the way she was.
You will cry reading this, you will laugh, you will smile and you may find that Catori gives you a part of her - she may be fictional but Audrey writes so beautifully that you sometimes feel the characters are real.

An absolutely wonderful, heartwarming book that I will be recommending to everyone.

Audrey did it again, another 5☆ read. I really enjoyed Catori's story and learning of Catori's and Adam's love story and the beginning years for Evie, Suda Kaye and Isabeu. It made me come to understand Catori's wishes and brought closure to the rest of the books in the Wish Series.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when starting this book. If you have read the 3 other Wish Series books, you have learned about Catori and some of the challenges the girls faced pertaining to their mom. This also isn’t the typical romance book. This book is about the journey Catori takes seeing the world, meeting her soulmate Adam and their unconventional life together. Many may not like some of the choices Catori makes in addition to their unconventional life and relationship, but Catori and Adam are perfect for each other. They also support and love each other for who they are and love their family above everything else. I really enjoyed getting more insight into Catori and Adam since their point of view is of course different from their daughter’s points of view that we saw in the previous books. This is a standalone but I do think it is probably much better after reading the first 3 books in the series. Another great book by Audrey Carlan.

This book...Wow! Catori knows she must live her life leaving the Indian Reservation she has known and loved her entire life. Giving into her wanderlust she goes to experience life and the choices she makes will define her life.
Her life may have taken a turn she may have not have intended, being at peace with choice with those choices she made is something she must look into herself and decide how it will define the different aspects of her life.
I could not put this book down when I stared reading it. In reading this book I saw bits in pieces of choices that I choose in my own life. I thought about them as I read this book and realized they are what made the person I am today.
This book is full of emotion, I laughed I cried, my heart hurt. Audrey Carlan has away to make a book speak and mean something personal.

NO spoilers in this one!

Audrey you really touch a part of me I hide! I love reading your books they have so much meaning to them. I thought Catori was kind of selfish but after reading this book she was just surviving after learning her fate. She loved how she wanted and her family backed her up. She did not know she would fall in love and marry the man. She was a free spirit. She did not see kids in future because she wanted to see the world. The Creator had other plans for her. She has love in her life. Adam Ross spotted her and was mesmerized. She too was taken by him. They have a love most people dream about. When I read the other books she seemed kind of selfish leaving her girls and traveling. She has given the most amazing gift and not ask for nothing in return. Prepare to understand Catori and shed some tears along the way. This is an amazing back story to understanding Catori better. Congratulations Audrey you truly outdid yourself!!

On avait découvert Catori précédemment.

This was a difficult read for many reasons but if you understand the complexity and depth of the first three books you’ll understand just how necessary this story was. A rich storyline written beautifully, If Stars Were Wishes chronicled Catori’s life, flaws and all. A strong woman with an equally strong backstory. She may have wandered but her deep connection to her spirituality keep her a constant in the lives of the ones she loved most… her girls.

A beautiful ending to the Wish series! Throughout the series I've had a hard time connecting with Catori, unable to imagine how a woman can live such a carefree life and not be extremely close to her children.

If anything, this story has taught me that everyone has a past, and their own way of living, definitely brings a new meaning to "don't judge a book by it's cover!" This was such a beautifully written and poignant story about the many relationships Catori had, and her adventures in life.

I almost want to go back and re-read the entire series all over again, knowing what I do now, so if you haven't read any of them yet, you're in for a captivating journey unlike any other.

Audrey Carlan is a true writing genius and has woven such an enchanting tale, it will stay with your heart forever.

Audrey Carlan wrote a beautiful prequel story. We met her beautiful daughters, but Audrey has now given voice about the adventurous, loving, and selfless mother, Catori.

Even if others judge her unusual relationship dynamic.

Catori new at a young age that she was not meant to live a long life. So, when she was old enough, her parents encouraged her to go out and fly free. Live a life without regrets.

Upon doing so, Catori meets Adam Ross and falls in love. They get married but she informs him before the nuptials of her limited time and her rules.

This story catalogs her soul searing love for Adam, her love but heart breaking difficulties with her daughters, her unconditional love for her parents, her people, her community.

Every persons story is a wish made on a star, living life, watching it unfold, until the universe eventually grants that wish. And Audrey Carlan wrote about it beautifully.

From Chapter 1 I was enamored with Catori and her story. The way that her and Adam Ross meet and the chemistry between them is blazing off of the page. I was all in and invested.

Catori is such a special character because her evolution of character is so unique and so
much her own. She takes no prisoners and lives her life to the fullest knowing that time is precious and we never know how long we are on this earth.

You come to understand her. You love her. You are angered by her, but you come to realize that her path was forged by a destiny that needed to be lived.

I think that is what I got from the book. I got to understand that life will always throw you kinks, but you choose how you work through those kinks.

Audrey Carlan writes Catori’s story from her soul. And you can not help but fall in love with the journey that has it all.
