I’m continuously confused by the marketing for this book. It was being released before Seven Seas started their Steamship line (for steamy josei series), but then they switched it to their Ghost Ship line instead? Especially when it’s definitely a josei series.

The way this series has decided to push the marriage/housewife perspective so hard as it gets closer to the ending is so weird to me. I like the couple and have enjoyed this series for the most part. But the fact that Ryo decided to quit her job in the previous volume (because he hurt his arm and was unable to care for himself…?), and now has fully devoted herself to caring for him long term and even getting a dietitian certification in order to make better meals for him… It’s just a bit much for me. I don’t hate this by any means, but I’m glad we’re finally nearing the end.

I’m freeing myself of the shackles of this series 💀 I know there’s only like one more volume for the series to be completed…but I can’t be bothered.

Mostly it’s because at this point I find these two incredibly boring. To add to that, it doesn’t sit right with my spirit that Ryo gave up on her dreams and chose another dream based entirely on Souma 💀Girl, stand up.

I mean I always found Ryo annoying because of her very typical “demure” woman vibe where she finds most things embarrassing…but you add to that a complete shift to becoming a housewife? Spare me. There’s nothing wrong with being a housewife, to be clear, but it doesn’t sit right with me when this wasn’t already a goal of hers.

And again! These choices all stemming from the fact that Souma got injured, and for some weird reason we’re acting like Souma can’t be a firefighter in another country, girl bye 🤦🏻‍♀️

it’s fine and i’m glad it’s near the end, but im not big on the whole giving up her career and becoming a housewife thing. there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s just the way it’s happened in the story is weird

cute? yes. wholesome? yes. sexy? yes. but ryo turning into a housewife and then into a possible mother.....I personally cannot relate.
