Catalina Arismendi knows better than to fall for a player—especially one like Rogue Gallagher. Grumpy, gorgeous, and ridiculously talented, the team’s star goalkeeper is ten years older, completely off-limits, and entirely out of her league. He’s moody, mysterious, her total opposite, and somehow, the one man she can’t stop thinking about. But Rogue isn’t the only one invading her thoughts. Late-night messages with a stranger on a faceless dating app have Cat hooked—sweet, attentive, and dangerously easy to fall for, he sees her in a way no one else ever has. Now, Cat’s stuck between two The fantasy she’s falling for fast... And the broody, real-life goalkeeper who might just wreck her—or be the one thing worth the risk. An age-gap, grumpy/sunshine sports romance full of secret longing, anonymous tension, and the slowest of slow burns, The Keeper will have you falling hard—maybe for more than one guy.

This was my 1st book by R.G. Prince, but it definitely won’t be my last period I love a broody, grumpy MMC who only softens for his girl, and Rogue was giving exactly that. Watching Rogue and Cat slowly learn how to communicate and build a relationship first was honestly so sweet. Their relationship felt genuine, and I loved seeing them open up and really show who they are underneath everything. I had such a great time reading this one and loved every minute of it! Huge thank you to R.G. Prince for the ARC!
Thank you so much to R.G. Prince for this ARC! I had such a good time with this book. It is super cute and sweet. I LOVE grumpy/sunshine. I loved the writing style. I really felt like I was there in the stadium at the practices and the games. This was my first contemporary sports romance and it won’t be my last. I loved the dual perspectives. The yearning was soooo good. The slow burn was perfection. The side characters were also excellent! I got a lot of laughs from them. I definitely recommend this book
I loved this book! I adored the relationship between FMC Cat, June, Bri, and Marianna! RG Prince does a wonderful job of creating a strong sisterhood along with romance in her books!
I like the combining of her two series since we get plenty of presence from the Spring Fling Sisters. I am very much looking forward to Junes book because her energy in this book was intoxicating. She knew just how Cat needed in every moment though the two of them are still building their relationship as coworkers and friends.
Rogue, he was my favorite kind of grumpy character. Grumpy to the rest of the world but caring and gentle with the people he cared about. His attentiveness to Cat and awareness to her feelings was everything!
Cat, I feel like she was highly relatable as she was a thicker girl. And it’s hard to trust that people have good intentions when it comes to romantic relationships when you are a little outside of societal norms.
And last but not least, THIAGO. My favorite character if I am being completely honest. The literal embodiment of joy and sunshine. I hope he gets everything he deserves!
RG Prince, you hit it out of the park with this one girl! I can’t wait for the rest of this series and The Spring Fling Sisters.

This, book had me on the edge of my seat with anticipation. the tension between Rouge, and Cat, had me in an dizzy spell! It is very rare for a book, to bring me back to my Highschool years, The Keeper did just that R.G Prince is such an amazing story teller, and I just couldnt stop reading this book, it sucked me in, with the Age-Gap, and the work place romance, isn't everyone ladies dream for a man to fall first. It is for me! I can't wait to read more, of Cat and Rouge. The mystery between the Veil messages, was also got me in my giddy younger self. All of the other characters made this book, what it is also! Thank you R.G Prince.
I was given this book for Free, as an ARC Program, there was no money spend on my part.

this is a lovely and sweet soccer romance with just the right amount of spice to make it hot exactly how I like my books. If you love sports romance, you have to pick this one up. The MMC? A grumpy, Irish goalkeeper named Rogue who calls the FMC Lass and Kitten (I actually screamed). 🤤 And when he starts talking about her curves?? YES PLEASE. Curvy sunshine FMCs forever. 😌✨ This book is full of those gasp “he did NOT just say that” moments and double gasp “there’s no way this is happening” scenes. And the love triangle? Completely unexpected. In the best, most chaotic way. Cute slow burn, a bit of tension, forced proximity, and a third act that keeps you hooked page after page I was fully invested. Okay. Yes. I’m done now. 😌💕
Thank you R.G. Prince for sending me ARC for this book!
This book gave me everything I needed: great romance, delicious slow burn, sport that was written in a way I could actually understand, and a grumpy x sunshine dynamic — one of my favorite tropes. The tension between Cat and Rogue made me absolutely giddy; I had to fight not to wear a full-blown silly grin the entire time. The supporting characters were also wonderfully developed — I found myself connecting with them even though this is only the first book. I can’t wait to read more from this author!
Absolutely love this book! The Book was well written and I love the writing style it felt like I was right next to the characters. The relationship between the characters was also good with the grumpy/sunshine vibes. I can't wait to see what's next! If you love slow burn sport romance books I definitely recommend this one! I had the pleasure of reading this book early!

Where do I even begin with this one? I loved the way R.G. Prince combined the romance with the sport aspect! In a lot of contemporary sports romance books the sport just comes short but this one delivered - and I don’t event like soccer? But I was swooning over the boys and felt envious of the girls lol.
Catalina (Cat), our FMC, is a real sunshine and I love the relationship she has with her sister Marianna (Anna) and her best friend Bri. I also really loved to see how she and June formed their friendship and how June’s sisters, April and May, started to play a role in it as well. The Spring Fling Sisters in full swing! 🤭
Cat was sometimes a bit unsure about herself and I loved how our Irish MMC, Roger aka Rogue fecking (hah) Gallagher assured her and made her both feel seen and loved. Their love was tender, raw and just so honest (if we ignore their little quarrel that was absolutely reasonable, by the way - there, I said it).
Rogue is a little bit rough around the edges and pretty shut off for the first few chapters, but as we get to know him better and see him interacting more with Cat, his walls fall down and we get to see the soft guy beneath the facade. I loved how he wasn’t portrayed as the perfect superstar goalie all the time, but instead as someone who carries the world on his shoulders and has to do it all alone until her.
Also: I loved the little interactions between Cat and the soccer players, especially Thiago. He just stole my heart. Such golden retriever vibes!! 🫶🏼
To be fair - I saw the plot twist coming from miles away, but that didn’t soften the heartbreak I suffered. The incident was well executed and necessary for the story as a whole, but it got a bit repetitive by the tenth mention of it. I get it, you need some drama to spice things up, but they should’ve talked about it and they, kind of, never really did? Not on page at least. That’s something I really would’ve wished for, but I still loved the way it finally resolved and played out for them in the end. So cute! 💗
I am so excited for the next books in this series and will definitely keep reading this author’s books (especially the Spring Fling Sisters, I’m invested now and I need to know more!!).

The Keeper is an adorable soccer player x social media manager grumpy/sunshine romance that pulled me in from the very beginning. And thank you R.G. Prince for sending me ARC for this book!
Plot: Catalina “Cat” is a social media manager for the Great Lakes Strikers Football Club. Roger Gallagher is the team’s star goalkeeper, grumpy, insanely handsome, and unbelievably good at his job. Cat knows better than to fall for a player, especially one as handsome and impossible as Roger. So why would either of them ever go for each other, right?
Things get complicated when late-night messages on a faceless dating app spark a deep connection neither of them expects. As feelings grow, Cat and Roger find themselves torn between the person they know in real life and the one they’re falling for behind a screen.
Thoughts: I loved the tension that started building right from the start. Watching them slowly fall for each other without knowing identities was such a fun and emotional experience. Even before they reveal, they were already connecting on a deeper level, while also being undeniably attracted to one another in real life.
Their dynamic was incredibly sweet. I especially loved how supportive Cat was of Roger and how she genuinely wanted to help him reshape how people viewed him, both on and off the field. The slow-burn romance worked really well here, and the strong presence of side characters added so much heart. The friendships and team interactions gave the story a wonderful found-family feel that I really appreciated.
This book hooked me from the start and kept me invested in Cat and Roger’s relationship. While I truly enjoyed the journey, I did feel the ending was a bit unsatisfying. It felt like the plot didn’t fully wrap up, and I was left with quite a few unanswered questions, which took away from that sense of completion I usually look for in a romance.
That said, The Keeper is still a charming, feel-good romance with great tension, lovable characters, and a fun premise, perfect for readers who enjoy sports romance, grumpy/sunshine dynamics, and slow-burn love stories.
✨ARC Review✨ I absolutely loved it! This is exactly the kind of sports romance that gets me every time—tender, angsty, quietly emotional, and packed with moments that just linger.
The slow burn is chef’s kiss. The kind that unfolds through stolen glances, loaded silences, and forced proximity that makes every single interaction feel charged. The grumpy x sunshine dynamic worked beautifully, especially layered with the workplace romance and the age gap. And yes—he falls first. Softly. Protectively. In ways that completely melted me and made my heart ache in the best way.
This was my first soccer romance & I loved there’s a field layout & positions in the front of the book. It helped pull it all together. The soccer setting added atmosphere and intensity without ever overpowering the heart of the romance. The tension, emotion, and energy were so well written that I felt like I was standing on the sidelines, heart pounding right alongside the characters.
Rogue is the definition of a book boyfriend. 🥰 Cat is so deeply relatable. Their connection felt real— the stolen glances, the inner dialogue, the stolen moments where they opened up - gah it’s all just so good.
This book was an escape I didn’t even realize I needed—and I loved every second of it. I’m fully invested in this series and already can’t wait to continue. I’ll be recommending it to my friends.
Two of my favorite quotes that are living rent-free in my head:
“She touched me and now solitude feels like starvation.”
“Some days, I love myself loud and proud; other days, I shrink a little.”
I’m so thankful for the opportunity to read The Keeper first & can’t wait to read book 2.

I had the privilege of receiving an ARC download of this book, and I'm ready to buy many more copies to gift to friends. The Keeper is the first sports romance I’ve ever read—and I’m pretty sure I’ve just discovered a brand-new genre to love.
This book delivers a deliciously slow, slow-burn romance. The pacing is perfect—just restrained enough to keep you aching for more, turning pages late into the night while feeling every moment right alongside the characters. Rogue is the ultimate book boyfriend. Truly. Cat is so deeply relatable that I found myself wishing I could know her in real life. And the love story? PHENOMENAL. I’ve never read a sports romance before, but I am absolutely in awe of RG Prince’s ability to put the most exhilarating soccer match I’ve ever read onto the page. The tension, emotion, and energy were so vivid that I felt like I was standing on the sidelines, heart pounding. This book was a gift—an escape I didn’t even realize I needed—and I devoured it completely.
100/10. I will be recommending this to every book friend I have. Thank you, R.G.Prince, for such a beautiful, immersive reading experience. I will absolutely be rereading and revisiting these characters again and again.
Some of my favorite quotes:
“She touched me and now solitude feels like starvation.”
“My camera clicks, but my pulse is out of focus.”
“It’s bright and unguarded and beautiful. I feel it low in my chest, like I’ve swallowed sunlight.”
“Some days, I love myself loud and proud; other days, I shrink a little.”

From the moment I picked this up, I was instantly hooked.
I am not normally a sports romance reader but this one caught my attention with just the blurb alone and I knew I needed it.
Cat and Rogue are the definition of what it means to let yourself truly fall again when you’ve been through the trenches with past relationships.
From the moment we meet our grumpy MMC, Rogue absolutely steals your heart. He is the true definition of a grumpy book boyfriend with a soft side. The absolute softness he shows towards Cat will make you swoon and fall in love with him even more.
Catalina, or Cat as she goes by (or Kitten, in the case of Rogue and his adorable nickname for her), is the true definition of a strong FMC who deserves the absolute world. She’s proof that you do not have to be a stick figure model size to find your happiness with someone. She’s also proof that while life may throw you curve balls in love, never give up because someday, you’ll find that someone who makes you light up like the morning sunrise.
Through the entirety of this story, I was kicking my feet and squealing like a little kid with the absolute adorable banter between Cat and Rogue.
And Thiago? He is just the absolute best “little brother”/“wingman” out there.
This was my introduction to the world of RG Prince and I look forward to diving even more into her world.
I absolutely devoured The Keeper by R.G. Prince. This book is everything I want in a sports romance: tender, angsty, and quietly emotional in the best way.
The slow burn is chef’s kiss—the kind that builds through lingering looks, unspoken tension, and forced proximity that makes every interaction feel loaded. The grumpy x sunshine dynamic worked so well here, especially paired with the workplace romance and age gap. And yes… he falls first, and it shows in the soft, protective moments that completely melted me.
What really stood out was how grounded the romance felt. The soccer setting added just the right amount of atmosphere without overpowering the emotional core of the story. The characters felt real, flawed, and easy to root for, and the payoff was deeply satisfying.
I’m docking just half a star because I wanted slightly more in the final stretch—but honestly? I’m already invested in this series and can’t wait to continue.
If you love: ⚽️ Sports romance 🔥 Slow burn tension ☀️ Grumpy x sunshine 💘 He falls first 🏠 Forced proximity
📖 The Keeper (Hearts on the Pitch Book #1) by R. G. Prince
✨ Main Characters: Rogue (Roger) & Catalina
❤️ What I liked
I do love a sports romance however, when you throw in a grumpy, rugged 6’4” Irish goalkeeper, consider me hooked. Rogue and Cat’s immediate chemistry literally jumped off the page, and I found myself blushing on Cat’s behalf any time Rogue looked at her. Then I had to remind myself that these characters were fictional and to pull myself together. Now, I don’t want to give away any spoilers, however I will mention that the whole Veil app aspect had me swooning so hard, I was worried I’d give myself vertigo. Loved this story and will definitely be reading more of this author’s back catalogue.

Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy of this to read. This is my honest review.
OMG Cat and Rogue literally stole my heart from the second this book started! Their chemistry leaps right off the page and you just can’t help for their happily ever after! Of course together they’re absolutely amazing but even individually you just can’t help but love these characters Cat is full of sunshine, and love for anyone and everyone. She’s also not afraid to chase her dreams while bossing around lovable soccer players all day! Then you have Rogue the Irish grump who has one last season before he retires from the game he loves the most. A man who has made it his mission to keep his personal life and public one very much separate. The man who wants a future but just doesn’t feel like he has it yet… and who has a soft spot for the rookies on his new team who feel genuine in a way he hasn’t experienced in a while. Honestly if you’re looking for a book filled with amazing relationships both romantic and platonic, found family, a grumpy/sunshine romance that you’ll devour, and a beautiful happily ever after then I highly recommend grabbing a copy of The Keeper today!
This was such a fun read that I breezed through in a day! I honestly couldn’t put it down!
This book has a broody MMC, a strong and independent FMC with dreams and a fun group of friends! All of my favourite things to find in a book!
Rogue is a strong, broody Irish man that knows exactly what he wants from the get go. Cat is a brilliant social media manager that adores her job and and the broody type 👀
I loved the mystery of the online texts and the deep conversations. It really brought a depth to the characters.
I also loved how much Cat loved her job and how everyone respected it, especially the team! It was lovely to see how supported she was by everyone on a daily basis!
I would like to thank R.G Prince and her team for giving me the opportunity to read The Keeper as an advanced copy! I am excited for the rest of the series!
”All I can see is her smile—soft, unguarded, brilliant—and the way the sun hits her face like it’s choosing her over the whole city.”
”for the first time in my life, forever doesn’t sound like a fairytale. It sounds like her.”
”one touch from him has me falling, and I’m not sure I ever want to hit the ground.”
R.G. Prince did it again! I am so thankful to have been one of her ARC readers! The Keeper was absolutely beautiful. I love R.G's writing style, all the details are perfect, and how she captivates your attention through the characters makes the reading experience feel so real. The FMC Catalina is sweet, hardworking, and very relatable. The MMC Rogue... holy cow he's beautifully hot, sweet, has that Irish accent, and is feral for the FMC! This story makes me want to start watching soccer 🤪 He falls first and hard. She falls quick but questions it. I loved the twist towards the end and how it all unfolded. I felt their emotions and love how Cat and Rogue found eachother. This was beautifully written and if you love a very slow burn romance that bursts into flames, filled with excitement through their adventure with The Stikers soccer team, with a touch of heartache, and a whole bunch of yearning and love.... you will enjoy Cat and Rogue's story too!!! Oh and I will forever remember this story at the mention of the word "kitten". 🤭 IYKYK
This was a new to me author I found on instagram and I had to read it just for the shoulders on the MMC on the cover alone! I am so glad I did. This book was an adorable slow burn that was hard to put down. Catalina is a social media content creator for the Strikers football team and Rogue (Roger) is the famous goalkeeper who just joined the team. He's a typical grump, no smiles and short answers but he opens up for Catalina especially. I loved the build up of their relationship and the ways she brings him out of his shell. Also I think the hidden gem of this book is Thiago (the backup goalkeeper) and his relationship with Rogue as well. He is adorably a fan of Rogue, and doesn't really ask to be his friend, he just accepts that they are besties. Catalina's friends and her sister are huge parts of this book as well, and their friendships are highlighted beautifully. The scene at the salsa club made me want to dance as well. I have never really been a fan of football, but I may just be after this series. I can't wait for the next one.
I absolutely love how RG blends humour, heart, and vulnerability into one incredibly engaging story, and I was completely sold with the slow, gradual connection between the FMC and MMC.
Our FMC is a social media exec tasked with working alongside a broody goalie MMC who desperately needs to look more approachable. The tension was immaculate - lingering looks, meaningful conversations, and unspoken feelings got me grinning and feel warm. The football setting added just the right amount to make it feel alive without stealing the spotlight from the romance. The supporting characters were wonderfully written—supportive, endearing, and full of heart. You gotto love RG for creating lovable casts.
This is my first RG book, and it definitely won’t be my last. I completely fell in love with the writing, the characters, and the heart behind it all. 💛 Thank you for the opportunity to read this in advance.
Ooooooh how I loved this book!!! It's a cozy, feel-good soccer romance with a HEA and leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy!
÷ Grumpy x Sunshine ÷ Curvy FMC!!!! I love this!! ÷ He's Irish, yummmm!! ÷ Age gap, but she's in her mid 20s so it's not weird ÷ Miscommunication, but no horrible love triangle drama
Cat is the social media coordinator for the Strikers team, and she's amazing at her job. But that leaves her zero personal time, so she downloads an anonymous dating app. Hijinks ensue ;)
Rogue is the grumpy new goalkeeper, ending the last year of his career with a new team and hopefully helping them find their way to victory. He's the strongest silent type, and he's pretty much forgotten how to smile. Unfortunately for Cat, this makes her job 10 times more difficult. And just like that, we have the perfect setup.
I was fortunate enough to receive an advanced copy of this story, and I am SO GLAD I did! I was hooked from the cover straight to the end!
Had the absolute joy and privilege of being an ARC reader for this story and wow how lucky am I? (Luck. Irish. Rogue. Get it?) Speaking of Rogue, he's our tall broody, Irish keeper. Super swoon worthy and I love the fact that there is more to him that meets the eye. Now the bane of his existence, Catalina. Our social media Latina baddie. She was super endearing and i loved how dedicated she was to her job and her family. A genuinely good heart and I was rooting for her the entire time. Now put these two together and you have a beautiful sports romance. Catalina and Rogue are precious together and the banter, the connection is so evident from the beginning. The little quips and details that are specific to their relationship are so cute. And that little twist? LOVE IT.
I am so happy I read this story and miss Rogue and Catalina already. <3
I will start out by saying that I was given an ARC copy to read and am giving my own opinion. This was such a cute, heartwarming, and cozy read and I enjoyed every second of it! Parts of the book were absolutely swoon worthy (especially the MMC, Rogue) and made me giggle and kick my feet like a schoolgirl just reading it. The tension, slow burn, flirting, and banter between the two main characters was amazing (not forced or drawn out, but just right). I am a sucker for grumpy MMC x sunshine FMC and this story delivered it: Rogue is a grump who is a secret softie with a heart of gold while Cat (the FMC) is sweet with a side of sarcasm. I wish I could read it again for the first time just to experience it all over again. Thank you so much to RG Prince and her team for letting me read the book! I really enjoyed it and appreciate the opportunity!
This is my second book by R.G. Prince and my first time as an ARC reader, and I can honestly say I’m becoming obsessed with her writing. The Keeper did not disappoint at all. I often found myself genuinely laughing at the dialogue and smiling while reading. The banter, the chemistry, and the storyline made it hard to put down.
I also really loved how characters from Layover in Love were woven into this story (if you know, you know). Those little connections were such a fun touch and made the world feel even more intentional and connected.
Yes, there were a few moments that felt predictable, but in true rom-com fashion, it was predictable in the best way. This was an easy five out of five for me, and I cannot wait to see where the rest of this series goes next.
4.5⭐️ Thank you to RG Prince for choosing me to receive an arc of this story! I absolutely loved it. If there’s one thing I love in a book, it’s a broken man that loves like his next breath depends on it. Sweet Cat, the sunshine social media girl for the Strikers FC meets Roger “Rogue” Gallagher, the brooding and guarded World Cup champion goalie, when he’s signed by the club she works for and is tasked with making him look less grumpy. In the process, professional lines blur and for the sake of not giving any big details I way I won’t go into anything more but if you love: workplace romance, age-gap, sports romance, and grumpy/sunshine with a tension filled slow burn that’ll have you on the edge of your seat, this one is for you!!
The Keeper by R.G. Prince is a fun slow burn sports romance! I need myself an Irish soccer player.
I absolutely love Cat and Rogue. Their sunshine and grumpy dynamic worked so well. I really enjoyed seeing their relationship blossom. I liked the humor and chemistry these two had. I also really enjoyed the side characters as well - especially Thiago!
There were parts of the story that felt predictable to me but I still really enjoyed it. The ending to me felt a little rushed but I do love the ending.
If you love a great sports romance book, highly recommend picking this up. Cannot wait for the rest of the series!
Thank you to R.G. for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
The Keeper is a KEEPER! Strong plot, well-rounded characters, humor, and a fun story. R.G. Prince masterfully blends romance and emotional depth, creating characters that feel real and relatable. The slow-burn tension keeps you hooked from start to finish, and the witty banter adds just the right amount of levity. The sports backdrop isn’t just window dressing—it drives the story and adds stakes that make the romance even more compelling. Every twist and turn feels earned, and the emotional payoff is satisfying without being predictable. This is a story that will make you laugh, swoon, and maybe even shed a tear. Definitely a must-read for fans of contemporary romance with heart, humor, and unforgettable characters.
“Please tell me I’ll get to do this again, lass. Please tell me my new reality includes you.” This book called out to me and I'm so fortunate it did because I can't imagine going on in life without having read this honestly. This book consumed me from start to finish. It's STILL consuming me with no end in sight. I loved all the characters. They were all so incredibly endearing. The story was heartwarming, or more accurately bodywarming. It started with my heart and spread throughout causing me to kick my feet. No amount of pages would've been long enough for Cat and Rogue. It's a good think R.G. Prince will be writing more stories in this series because not to sound dramatic, but right now I don't know how'd I'd be able to move on.
Well everyone, R.G. Prince has officially done it. She managed to get me to care about a sport. In all seriousness, I absolutely adored this book. The love story between Catalina and Rogue was deep, emotional, and tender hearted. R.G. Prince has a unique ability to make me obsessed with every character she writes. From the side characters to those without names, I found myself laughing, grinning, and just so into it. I have never been a sports watcher, but the way she describes the game had me genuinely excited and invested. It amazes me that this is only her third book, because her ability to paint such a vivid picture of the plot and characters feels so natural and effortless. I am more than ready for this series to continue. 💕💕
Another amazing book from R.G. Prince!!!! I was given the honor of being an alpha reader on this book. Give me a brooding MMC any day!!! Then add that he is a softy under that demeanor and I am in. The FMC is a strong woman with a fierce loyalty to those she loves. I love how she connects with everyone, especially how she gets under the MMC's skin and makes him reveal every facet of his personality. R.G. Prince makes you feel like you're right there witnessing her characters fall in love. She has become my favorite author!!! There are so many surprises in this book!!! I NEED MORE!!!!
Let me start by prefrencing how honored i am to be given a special preview of this book <3
I had an absolute blast with this book! Seriously, it did not let me down!
The story is such an enjoyable read. I adore the characters; their chemistry was a bit hit or miss, but overall, it was really great. Their humor and the way they support each other made me feel like they were all family. The character development was also spot on, and even the side characters were a real treat, keeping me invested in their stories too.
This is my first book by R.G. Prince, but it definitely won't be the last because, you know, I have a soft spot for a broody, grumpy MMC.
