Story of Sami, former cop who mays Anna on Spain and they spend a few wonderful days together but drinking and doing drugs. One morning he wakes up laying beside Anna, who appears dead and bloody. Samis dad convinces him to speak to no one and get on the next flight home. 22 years later Sami thinks he spots Anna and chases after her. He finally speaks to her and her family. They said she’d been kidnapped years ago and suddenly returned but Anna claims she doesn’t remember anything. Her family hires him to find out what happened to her but the family is keeping their own secrets.
Fantastic book! Mr Coben continues to create stories that start with what might be a normal moment and then expands and creates a compelling yet believable conclusion. It is almost impossible to figure out what has happened and the dual storylines here created two surprising outcomes. What a brilliant writer! Now it’s time to wait for his next book!
