✨ Gah! This is a must-read! Book 1 kicks off with four brothers, and you just know each of their stories is going to be amazing. And don’t worry — Hunter already shut down the “why choose” trope with Maddie (haha, in case you missed it, they don’t share).
Hunter + Maddie = fire and ice. 🔥❄️ From the moment Hunter and his brother crash the terrible wedding, you know sparks are about to fly. What they didn’t expect was Maddie — full of fire, ready to spread her wings, and absolutely determined to have him. Honestly, what’s more unforgettable than a naked marriage proposal from her?
I loved how the brothers stood behind Hunter every step of the way. Mace and Reid were charmed by Maddie from the start, while Ash took a little more convincing. Watching Maddie win them over just made me love her even more.
I couldn’t get enough of this story, and now I literally cannot wait for Mace’s book. The way it’s shaping up, he’s about to become the ultimate stalker hero — and his heroine won’t stand a chance. 😍

Well goodness did i need this.... OMG miss Anna J Valentine where have you been all my life!!
Lets start by saying PICK THIS UP, and be prepared to wait with bated breath for the other brothers in this series.
Okay.. first lets talk about HUNTER.. i love a broody man and that's morally grey and you get that from the jump.. But he's also captivated and soft (even though he tries not to be) When he sees Maddie. And the way he brings out the strength in her and supports her.. UGHH!! I need a Hunter Griffin!
Oh Maddie.. to see her go from abused to backbone is awesome! To watch her be kick ass and sassy and unwavering in the midst of some grumpy alpha-holes is the BEST! Her fighting back and for what she wants warms my heart!
This book had the suspense, the angst, the twists and the SPICEEE!!!

Wretched Heart is book one in the Wretched series and is the story of Maddie and Hunter. This is a morally grey, enemies to lovers, marriage of convenience romance.
About to be married off to save her family's paper mill, Maddie is shocked to have her wedding interrupted by the hottest man she has ever seen. Not only does he object to the wedding, he proceeds to embarrass her in front of the few guests in attendance. Mortified and angry, Maddie runs away only to be tracked down by the man who ruined her wedding.
Hunter and his brothers have a reputation as guardians and protectors. Although Hunter is not sure that Maddie sees them as that as they stop her wedding to one of their sworn enemies. Hunter must track down Maddie and make her listen to their proposition to save her family's failing paper mill. What Hunter and his brothers do not expect is to find Maddie more scared of someone else than she is of them. Working together is the only option to save the paper mill but when options are limited to make that possible, Maddie makes a proposition to Hunter that he cannot refuse and doesn't want to. Hunter and his brothers made a pact to keep love from making them vulnerable and weak but is that living or is is unrealistic?
This was my first book by this author and I was not disappointed in the slightest. I loved the writing and the emotional connection she was able to build between Maddie and Hunter as well as Maddie's connection with his brothers. The slow burn and pining Hunter had for Maddie while trying to resist the powerful chemistry the two shared was so damned good! The spicy moments as well as the heart melting ones left you in a puddle and sweating. The storyline itself was different and well written. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the characters, the angst and the well deserved HEA for Hunter and Maddie.

Maddie runs away from her wedding and escapes to a hotel to figure out what she truly wants from life. Over the course of the story, Maddie grows into an independent, strong woman who dares to use her own voice. Hunter, meanwhile, realizes that Maddie is not easily swayed. Maddie also wins over Hunter's brothers with her charm, and for the first time in her life, begins to feel loved for who she is.
This book is definitely worth reading and an engaging start to the series of 3 more books. While it doesn’t end on a cliffhanger, it does leave threads open for the next installment—so be ready to dive into the following books.

Omg! I loved this book. I was hooked from page one. I was annoyed I had to work and sleep.
Anna J has an amazing talent.
You think Maddie is going to be a wussy weak female but I should have known better than that, Anna J doesn’t do weak heroines. Maddie isn’t annoying either - I get frustrated with those who start off strong but then turn into a weak mess. Maddie knows what she wants and goes after it, even if Hunter doesn’t agree. He puts up a hell of a fight, but Maddie is stronger!
There are twists and turns everywhere. You think you know where the story is going then it diverts in a different direction.
I can’t wait for Mace’s book.
It is the best book I have read this year (and I have read 284 of them 🤣) xx

I was lucky enough to get the ARC for this and it DID NOT disappoint!! As a first time author for me, I was totally not prepared for how this book grabbed me.
Hunter is the grumpy morally grey man we all love, who's only soft for her and Maddie is the spit fire who knows exactly what she wants, Hunter. No one is going to stop her, even him.
The brotherhood in this book is perfect 👌 They way they all support and stand by Hunter and each other. Their love for Maddie just also melts my heart, she fits in like the sister they never had. I'm so excited for the others to get their own stories!!
This is a must read for anyone who loves when a man does everything in his power to support the love of his life.

I can’t express how much I loved this book! All the characters are so well written, I could picture them all interacting in my head. Maddie is now firmly one of my most favourite FMC’s of all time. Her sharp wit & ability to stun even the grumpy Griffin brother with her words had me giggling. Hunter has so many walls up, but Maddie has no problem scaling them & getting to his core. I don’t want to say too much & give away the plot as then there’d be no point you reading this - so I’ll leave it short & sweet & plead that you give Hunter & Maddie a chance to work they way into your heart, just like they did with mine.

Maddie really grows into a strong, powerful leading woman and can hold her own especially after a living under her brother's control. This book has great spice and twists throughout. It is a great book, and Im excited for the rest of the Griffin brothers stories.

Ok I have no regrets reading this book. I mean how well written this book is.
I’m just in love with everyone in this book. Specially Hunter and Maddie. Gosh what a power couple they are. And Maddie what should I say about her. So fierce and strong that doesn’t let anyone dull her personality. From the very first chapter I was hooked to this book and was kept reading without any pose. I didn’t wanted it to finish this soon and want more of Hunter and Maddie. Their story will make you swoon. Interaction between other characters was wonderful. I can’t wait for next ones in this series 😍😍

I discovered a new author, and this book was so amazing I didn’t want the story to end. Meet the Griffin brothers—this one focuses on Hunter. Barrett needs to be stopped, so they plan to crash his wedding. Maddison is only going along with this to save the Mill, but her wedding is suddenly interrupted by big, burly men. One of them annoys her and demands she get in the car outside. Hunter soon learns Maddie never does what she’s told. As he gets to know her, he realizes she’s strong and full of sass. Maddie’s humor will definitely come in handy with his brothers. I can’t wait to read the second book in the series—I highly recommend it!

Maddie and Hunter's growth throughout the book was such a joy to read.I won't lie, there times I was crying and yelling at Hunter to get his act together. Also, holy plot twist!
This book has me on pins and needles for the rest of the series!

Well written and did not disappoint! I loved Hunter and Maddie’s story, and I can’t wait to see what the other Griffen brothers have in store.
Maddie is definitely not one to underestimate and it was refreshing to watch the development of her character without being completely shadowed by Hunter. Now don’t get me wrong… Hunter deserves his own spotlight and would do ANYTHING for Maddie. The chemistry between them is hot and intense. Definitely worth the read!

This book was bringing mafia vibes without the mafia. I loved Maddie and Hunter. The BANTER 😂! I appreciated how Maddie came into her own & that she has a strong and sharp mind, so she can keep up with those boys. I loved how Hunter appreciated her for not only her body but also for her mind. The spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️ can’t wait for the other books!!

Intrigued from the beginning

Anna does it again! This new series pulled me in from the very beginning. The hint of a mystery as to why the Griffin brothers wanted to sabotage the wedding, it kept me interested and wanting more. The banter between Mace and Maddison made me laugh out loud several times.
And the twist at the end? She's their mother? I can't wait for the 2nd book and to see what else the brothers get into

Anna does it again! This new series pulled me in from the very beginning. The hint of a mystery as to why the Griffin brothers wanted to sabotage the wedding, it kept me interested and wanting more. The banter between Mace and Maddison made me laugh out loud several times.
And the twist at the end? She's their mother? I can't wait for the 2nd book and to see what else the brothers get into

** I got an ARC copy of this book, I am so glad I did!** Give me a morally gray billionaire with a touch of mafia that fights his feelings any day of the week! Hunter is one of those *almost* perfect man that we love to hate to love and swoon over. What I loved the most is seeing Maddie grow in her fierceness. Amazing! Can’t wait to read the next one 😁

Wow.. that was such a great book for the beginning of the series. 1st time reading from this author, and now I’m hooked and can’t wait to read her other books. Couldn’t put the book down. Maddie and Hunters story will pull at your heart strings all the way through the book. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.

We’re do I begin Hunter Griffin thought he was going to stop the wedding of one of his enemies but in the end The Bride Maddie makes him a a proposal to help her family business since he just stopped her arranged marriage that was suppose to do just that . It was a marriage of convenience. The Banter between these to is fantastic . Hunter thinks he has the upper hand thinking he can just wait it out and keep Maddie at a distance but the push and pull between them he’s slowly loosing the battle . 10/10 recommend this book . Once you read this one you will have to read the others !

I received this book as an ARC. This is my first time reading something by Anna J. Valentine and she didn't disappoint.
I was hooked from the very beginning.
When the action starts in the very beginning, with Hunter and his brothers storming into Maddie's wedding. A wedding that is a business arrangement, by her abusive brother.
But instantly there is something between Hunter and Maddie. Love their chemistry from the beginning. Hunter can fight with himself about Maddie all he wants, but she wasn't going to allow it. She didn't everything she could to get him to give into her. Even proposing marriage.
I don't want to give too much away, this definitely had a good story all together.
Between having me on the edge of my seat with the action, the amazing chemistry between these two and falling in love with all four brothers. I can't wait to read the other three books when they come out, to get more of the other brothers. Bring on Mace, Reid and Ash ❤️

Hunter and Maddie!
I loved their dynamic. Maddie was serving him a piece of fire that he needed to receive the love that he deserves. The insta lust turned into something so much more! I also loved the way Maddie wormed her way into the Griffin brothers’ hearts!
The underlying plot was very intriguing and I am hooked to know how it’s going to unravel.

I loved this story so much, I decided to reread! From the very first scene, the characters had me enthralled! Their chemistry, their banter, I loved everything about them. The snippets of the brother's that we got to see has me looking forward to each one's story. This had such a good plot and kept pulling me further in and I felt I was on an emotional rollercoaster. So good!

I was lucky enough to be an ARC reader for this wonderful book, it is written so well you get imensed into the story about the four griffin brothers, wretched heart starts with Hunter and Maddies story, and what a story it is I would highly recommend this and cant wait for the rest of the griffin brothers stories.

This was my first book by this author and I am officially hooked! From the very first chapter, I was pulled right into Maddie’s world—about to be married off to save her family’s failing paper mill, only to have her wedding interrupted by the hottest man she’s ever seen. Hunter crashing in to stop the ceremony was dramatic, intense, and honestly addictive. I knew right then I wasn’t putting this book down until I finished it.
Maddie is such an easy heroine to root for. She’s thrown into a nightmare situation and still finds the strength to push back, even when her choices are limited. Her fear and determination felt so real, and I loved seeing her interactions not just with Hunter, but also with his brothers. They added so much to the story and gave it that “found family” vibe I adore.
Hunter, though… wow. The slow burn between him and Maddie was everything. The pining, the tension, the way he tried to fight what he felt—it was deliciously frustrating in the best way. And when the chemistry finally snapped? Sparks. Everywhere. The balance of spicy scenes and heart-melting moments was perfect. I was either blushing, swooning, or smiling like crazy the entire time.
The plot itself stood out, too. It wasn’t just romance for romance’s sake—there was danger, tension, family loyalty, and real stakes that kept the pages flying by.
