I wanted to push thru with this one, but sadly I did DNF. I made it 100 pages in and just can’t finish it. For me it’s falling very flat with the writing style, and I cannot get past the fact that Stephanie is only supposed to be underage. I can handle all the pitch black and dark triggers out there, but glorifying a child being put into that type of relationship and romanticizing it as a beautiful experience is not right in my book. It also creeped me out that they alluded to viewing her as their adopted child almost. Even in fiction that doesn’t sit right. I am however not bashing this book for anyone else to read. Not in any way. I read many different things that most people would run from.
I do think I will continue to read this at some point and more from this author later on. Llianne shows great potential as an author, and knows exactly what us fellow pitch black/dark romance girlies crave. The writing style was just not grasping me, I felt like I had to read between the lines a lot to know how we got there. Wasn’t very descriptive with settings and surroundings, I was left wondering where and how we got there at a couple points. I was hesitant to write this as I do not like writing a “negative” review, but that’s what these are for, to get all the opinions and keep writing us amazing books to escape to. I am giving this ⭐️⭐️⭐️ because less is unfair since I DNF. The book does have great potential and I will finish it at a later date. Just couldn’t fall into it because of my own icks.

Captive Series - Llianne Olivo
I will always and forever be obsessed with this author’s writing. This author can write such an intriguing and engaging story with rich and complex characters and some of the most interesting settings. This is absolutely one of my favorite authors. I loved the story when it was an original Novella and it has grown and involved so much and I love every word and page. I honestly cannot recommend this book enough, and I’m so glad that it’s out to the public now.

It was a hot quick read, with an intriguing set up. Sadly it felt too shallow to really become invested in the characters and the time jumps didn't really help with this. I know there are other stories from different characters, that likely fill this hole, but I needed a bit more embedded into this story to be fully swept into it.
I personally don't like the pregnancy trope and was caught off guard by that and the breeding kink, since it wasn't mentioned on the otherwise extensive trigger list. That definitely made me lose interest to those parts of the story.
The writing was beautiful though and overall I enjoyed reading it!

A perfect blend of darkness, spice and romance. The first page had me hooked and I finished this in a couple of days. I love how each story started from where the last ended. That ending of the final story had me in shock. Remember to read the trigger warnings. Thank you Llianne Olivo, I really enjoyed all of these.

this was definitely way darker than im used to, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. a couple of troupes I wasn't too fond of but you're always going to have that. it was intense and the spice was to the max. excellent writing!

When I started Captive by Llianne Olivo through BookFunnel, I knew immediately this wasn’t a “safe” dark romance. The author warns readers that this book might offend and she wasn’t exaggerating. But instead of pushing me away, it pulled me in and refused to let go. If you like your romance truly pitch-black, this book will feel like home.
Normally, I don’t care for age-gap romances, but here it never felt like the focus. Vanessa isn’t passive; she pushes back, sometimes even dominating Jake, and her awakening is raw, dangerous, and liberating. Written with striking authenticity, her journey shows that power is the real currency, not age.
Vanessa’s transformation goes beyond her own awakening; her role in creating the empire takes on generational weight, with consequences that ripple through every character.
What starts as an erotic billionaire story morphs into something much darker: an initiation into BDSM, a saga of obsession, power struggles, and twisted desire. Can someone explain to me why this book is not viral? How come ya'll make anything virual but when a really good book comes around it just sits there? I don't understand the dark romance community. This book has been criminally underrated and ignored. I never read anything like it before and i don't think Ill be recovering any time soon. Leston is not just a morally black MMC but he IS the definition of having no morals at all but loving a woman twice his age like never before. This is a reverse age gap romance that i never thought id read. There are no safe words. The BDSM of Captive is not your typical BDSM. Its diabolical and human. Every character either has claws or gets clawed alive. Love or die. Ride or die. Fuck or die. Every word is a like a prayer of sin. True to its subtitles. Between part 1 and part 3 the only thing you can do is breathe and hold on for dear life because youll be horny, angry, sad, stressed out, and feeling like glory all at once. Maybe its a blessing this book is hidden.

This book was not what I expected in a good way. Llianne told me it’s dark but my screwed up brain found it to be a beautiful story.
Despite what this man’s mother went through in the beginning and how he grew up he found love with the woman he always wanted. Sureee there’s a bit of an age gap just like there was with his parents however I was rooting for him and his butterfly.
I’ll admit that there is a lot and I mean alot of questionable and messed up situations throughout the book but I feel it only made them stronger. Major character growth and the messed up parts is part of what made this a beautiful story at least to me. Everything fell in place I promise!!
I laughed, I got angry and I cried but the fact that he really found love and decided not to let his past and upbringing make him a messed up person in the end was Amazing. The letter she wrote him tugged at my heart.
I highly recommend this because it’s oh so good and will have you in a chokehold too

Definitely check your triggers before getting on this ride. It was a lot for me at some points, but it doesn't take away from the complexity of the story.
My favorite character was Vanessa. On the surface, it seems she's just a shallow rich girl. You quickly learn that is not the case. I love how the author showcases the depth and duality of her character. Dark vs Light. Submissive feminine vs her dominant side and finding who she truly is despite the expectations placed on her. She found a way to get everything she wanted. But it still came at a price.
The parallels between her and Leston are heartbreaking. While Vanessa found strength, Leston found heartache and darkness.
They both had the expectations of keeping the family legacy alive, but Leston finds his own way, his own legacy.
I would love to maybe see a novela about Jake before it all. I think that would be an interesting story to tell.
Overall it was a great story and I love the author's writing style. Very poetic.

I love how the author showcases the depth and duality of her character. Dark vs Light. Submissive feminine vs her dominant side and finding who she truly is despite the expectations placed on her. She found a way to get everything she wanted. But it still came at a price.
The parallels between her and Leston are heartbreaking. While Vanessa found strength, Leston found heartache and darkness.
They both had the expectations of keeping the family legacy alive, but Leston finds his own way, his own legacy.
I would love to maybe see a novela about Jake before it all. I think that would be an interesting story to tell.
Overall it was a great story and I love the author's writing style. Very poetic.

If you don't read pitch black romance, this may not be the book for you!!!
This was dart, twisty and intense, I really liked the story and the believe there is great potential in the writing, but, there was something that I felt was still missing and I found it hard to have a connection with the characters. Not to say this is bad thing, but, when you have interconnected stories and you feel as if bouncing around, it leaves some things unfinished.
Vanessa is such a bad ass - She loves the spotlight, she presents to be fearless and unshakable until you meet the other side of her.
Jake - Enigmatic and a mystery - I need to know more about this character.
I will be picking up more from this author- I am intrigue with her writing and I know she will have some bangers of stories.

CAPTIVE is a Dark (very dark) pitch black romance. Olivo has left nothing off the table. The story is captivating and raw and unlike anything I've read! That being said read trigger warning ⚠️ before reading the book ( I have no trigger). I inhaled this story! It is darkly beautiful! It held me Captive!
To quote one of my favorite quotes in the book,
"Welcome to our world, bitches. Come in only if you're ready to serve. Stay if you want to be born again."

I really liked the book! Loved the amount of spice and darkness in book 1. I do wish there was alittle bit more to the story like more info on both characters and more drama between both characters lol that’s just my preference! Book was great though I read it in a few hours!
Book 2 was my favorite so far! Again I wish there was more to the story but I loved the relationship between the characters and the dark spicey bits!!!
I have not read book 3 yet but can’t wait to! All and all so far this was a great read and had lots of dark and sexy parts and I do highly recommend giving it a read!!!

If you're a fan of pitch black romance, you've found your home. This book starts out dark and just keeps bringing you to new dark heights! The characters aren't lovable, but they're absolutely addicting. A fan of never knowing where things are going next? You'll find that here and be so glad you are. This is one of the darkest romances I've read, and I'm still in awe of how well it was written. The pages just suck you in. I won't give any spoilers, but just know you need to check your triggers. I don't have any, so I was free to love this book completely.

From the very first page, this book completely captivated me. The writing style is simply breathtaking and the storyline is so compelling that I found myself completely immersed in the narrative. I was particularly impressed with the character development; the personalities felt incredibly authentic and relatable, making it easy to connect with them on a personal level. The book was so engaging that I found it almost impossible to put down once I started reading it, and I was truly sad to reach the final page.

This was my first read from the author and I can't wait to read more. If you like darker spicy reads, this is definitely for you. Vanessa seemed polished and perfect, at least for the cover of magazines, but as soon as Jake walked into the room, her thoughts were only on him. This book has me at the first chapter, it was a short read, but definitely kept me interested. Can't wait for the next.

the story line was captivating and I enjoyed the characters, but I did struggle to read it because I wasn't a fan of the writing style. the mmc is still a mystery and I'd like to have known more about him. decent spice.

Reading this didn't get me "bothered" like most kink books do. This book had me so invested in the well being of its characters I almost didn't need the spice... almost. I thoroughly enjoyed the spice.

A book which has perfect blend of dark romance and spicy 🥵.. It's too good. I completed reading it in one sitting. Recommended for community to read who are fan of Dark romance and forbidden love.
