Rate this book
Live Fast, Die Loud

God built the myth.
The fan archived it.
Then he bled for it.

Jesse Grady—known online as Red—was never supposed to be seen.

He was just a fan. A digital ghost. An obsessive eye locked on the chaos of the band DISASTER, especially its frontman: the untouchable, unhinged Chase Riot.

But then the legend looked back.

Now Red’s face is on every feed. His obsession has a spotlight. And Chase? Chase wants more.

More control. More devotion. More destruction.

Dragged into a world of fame, fire, and brutal intimacy, Red becomes a target, a trophy, a mirror. The deeper he falls, the sharper the game cuts—until the persona cracks, the truth leaks, and the audience demands more.

This tour won’t end with redemption.
It’s a slow burn toward detonation.
A vicious callout of parasocial culture.

Perfect for fans of dark celebrity romance, toxic obsession, fandom horror, and razorwire banter.
Obsession is currency. Fame is a weapon. You came for the show—now bleed for it.

Nico Verce

Nico Verce writes emotionally damaged disasters and calls it fiction.
His books deliver sarcasm, psychological chaos, and at least one character you’ll regret catching feelings for.
He refuses to stick to one genre—but you can always count on dark humor, bitey banter, and something getting set on fire (emotionally or literally. Probably both).
When not spiraling through drafts, Nico is usually somewhere he shouldn’t be—riding too fast, dancing too hard, or making questionable life choices in the name of narrative research.

“The myth, the fan, and the collapse.”

This isn’t your typical rockstar romance - it’s not even really a romance at all. It’s obsession, performance, and self-destruction wrapped in a glittering stage light. Nico Verce didn't write a love story: he wrote a cautionary one about what happens when adoration curdles into ownership.

This book is dark, gritty, and painfully self-aware. It digs into the toxicity of parasocial relationships. What it means to watch someone until you think you know them, and what happens when the curtain finally falls. It’s messy, haunting, and disturbingly real.

There’s no romance, no redemption, no happily ever after. Just stage lights, blood, and the unhinged truth that sometimes being seen is the most dangerous thing in the world.

If you want something soft and healing, this isn’t it. But if you want something that’ll make you question how far you’d go for connection...this book stares right back at you.

Omg this book is like a chaotic car crash you can’t look away from.

Little old me seen this and thought “oh dark rock star romance, I’ll give it a go.” Nuh uh. This is not a romance, repeat NOT A ROMANCE. To be fair, it doesn’t pitch its self as that either, there are warnings, and it’s my bad for ignoring that, but I’ve read so many books that have targeted themselves as “dark, brutal, savage” and I’ve barely blinked an eye at the “trauma” they try and sell.

This booked consumed me. It was dark, gritty, mean, and full on gaslighting at its worst. And I ate. It. Up.

At first the writing style irked me a little, as the sentences were too short. Chopped. Like this. Not complete. Missing words.

But then by chapter 3, i was far too invested in the story to give a damn and realised the chopped sentence structure was adding to the gritty nature of the story and actually loved it. If you like your books to give you a mild panic attack, give this book a chance, it’s dark, gritty, traumatic and you won’t be able to walk away, much like Red with Chase.

The only this stopping this from being a 5 star read it lack of background information. We have no idea how old Red is, Chase I worked out is around 27, but Red seems much younger, but is he? Where are Reds family? No one noticed him missing for over a month? What happened to them? How famous is the band, and how long have they been around? AT the start it seems like they’re failing, washed up? Or never that big to begin with? But other than those small details missing, amazing story.

This is a book I will never forget. It felt honest & real. If you're a fan of rock group documentaries you can think this might be true & hard to believe. This is a book about Red a fan of the rock group Disaster especially lead singer Chase. He gets invited by Chase to join the group to see what it's like to be on tour. It's not pretty. Fair warning this is NOT a love story. It's self destruction to the umpteenth level. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Okay so the only reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars is I rarely give books five stars. Otherwise this was perfect! It was face paced and I devoured it in only a day. I liked the story plot and it had been turning pages late into the night. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

First words out of my mouth once I read the last line:
Fuuuuucccckkkkk

This was intense. Brutal, obsessive, controlling.
Red caught in the fantasy of how it would be. Chase showing him the reality of it all. His craziness.
I loved it.

I received an ARC from Book Sirens for my honest review.

"Disaster" by Nico Verce was... well, the title says it all. This was a complete disaster of a novel.

I've never had such a boring experience reading an MM story before. It's sad because I usually like MM stories and thrillers, but this one was such a complete waste of time that I regret even starting it. Nothing about the book seemed well thought out or put together. It honestly felt like the author didn't put much effort or care into his own work, and it shows in just how messy and ridiculous this book is from start to finish.

First off, this isn't what you'd call a love story, but even beyond the lack of romance, there were still opportunities for this book to win me over. A book doesn't need romance for me to enjoy it, but it does need something to catch my interest and make me care about the characters. This book didn't manage that at all.

Even though it's supposedly a "thriller," it didn't feel thrilling or suspenseful in any way. Instead, this book is a chaotic, poorly executed mess with no real redeeming qualities. What's left is a hollow, disorganized story that never delivers on a single promise. The so-called "thrills" are really just band drama. The book wallows in rumors, leaked secrets, and a horde of chronically online social media users flipping out over scraps of gossip about Chase Riot (frontman of the band DISASTER) and his fan-turned-boytoy, Red.

I read the whole book to give it a chance, but kept running into the same annoyances in each and every chapter. The author's style is nothing more than an incoherent mess. Throughout the book, he continuously reuses the same sentence structures and other awkward writing quirks:
- Parallel sentences like "Not just this, but that."
- "No A. No B. Just C."
- Overusing the rule of three
- Short pseudo-questions immediately followed by an answer
- Out-of-place em dashes
- Choppy sentences
etc.

There's also the awkward dialogue between the characters. Questions are answered with more questions, and every attempt to sound clever or "deep" and philosophical completely falls flat. It was like reading an angsty middle schooler's diary. No actual adults talk like that in real life.

It seemed like the band was supposed to have a dark, edgy vibe, but the author forces it so much to the point where it comes off as childish and embarrassing. Note to Red: "keep my myth out of your mouth" is not that impressive of a line to get tattooed on your own body. Overall, the author's descriptions of the band (especially Chase) try way too hard to portray them as "badass" and tough, but it's extremely cringe-worthy instead.

In addition, the book is full of vague sentences that are completely pointless, contributing nothing to the story except for more fake deepness. It's not an exaggeration to say some of the lines didn't make any sense at all and just came off as silly. For example, one scene includes the line "pinning him back against the wall with the kind of force that feels like gravity"... seriously? Did we forget that gravity literally IS a force? Who thought that was a good description?

If this only happened occasionally, I could overlook it, but every chapter had several sentences that were stiff and formulaic. Some paragraphs didn't even sound like they were written by an actual person. It was incredibly distracting and made the scenes feel clunky and awkward. Obviously, this negatively impacted my experience as a reader, and the book ended up feeling like a pain to finish.

The final chapters are so mind-numbing, I was more excited about finishing the book than anything happening in it. It also ends on a cliffhanger, but that hardly matters since I won't be picking up anything else by this author ever again. "Disaster" earns a single star from me, only because zero isn't an option.

Obsessed rockstar and obsessed fan… well that fan definitely found out about the wrong star. Nothing can shatter your reality like fining out a star is not who you think they are. Let’s just say that Red/ Jesse found that out the very very hard and disturbing way. Even when he was invisible he was never safe until he locked eyes for the first time with his greatest obsession, Chase Riot. Then he all goes down hill from there. Chase somehow knows everything Red/ Jesse. What he apparently wants to where he even lives.
I would have like to see more of a build up on how Chase even knows where Red/Jesse lives because we never get to see that little detail. It literally went concert, bar, sleep together, wait a few weeks and mental breakdowns later… to Chase coming back, etc. I feel like the premise was there but it was too fast to build up on and left you wondering what you just read… It was a crazy obsession with the darkest of sin on their lips. Each ride was a void looking to be filled… Be it good or bad.

I understand what the author was trying to do with how they wrote this story – it seemed to be aiming at being an insight into parasocial links, complete with hashtags and ‘reactions’ from people to things that were happening. I have also been a hardline ‘stan’ of various groups in my life, so I get it.

This did not work for me even remotely. I kept waiting for something more than dramatic statements and unhinged fan reactions, something between the two leads that wasn’t just toxic situationship behaviour and it never happened. I literally finished reading this book because it was an ARC and I didn’t want to give up too easily. I wish I had. I can’t see me reading anything by this author again, at least not willingly. I received an ARC through BookSirens.

This is definitely not your typical rockstar romance. If you’re expecting cute or happy… nope, this isn't the book for you!

This one is dark, messy, and all about toxic obsession. You really see how Red gets sucked in, and that whole slow slide into chaos feels way too real. Red and Chase aren’t romantic at all — it’s pure drama and toxicity.

By the end I felt drained, but honestly, that’s the vibe of the book. If you want something raw and unsettling instead of sweet, this will scratch that itch.

This certainly not the typical "rockstar roamnce". This is not a romance at all. But it is an obsession between two men. I cannot even believe that I even read this, but I could not put it down. You just had to keep reading to see what happens next. Thank you BookSirens for the advanced copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I want to thank the author to authorize me to read this arc.

But the book was not really not for me and I think that both of them are crazy and they both need to go to a hospital for phycological problems.
