A decade ago, I was made a promise. Now, I get to watch him make the same one twice.
Hunt. Survive. Fuck.
That’s all I’ve ever aimed for in this life. All I’ve ever needed to keep putting one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward.
Training others to do the same just made sense. No feelings. No expectations.
I never expected for the man I’ve kept at arms length for the last ten years to challenge that with the assistance of my brand new recruit and his sweet cherry pastries.
Is it possible to overcome the past and give up my heart to the two men that have shown me that it still beats?
The Dead Don't Talk is a full-length MMM dark dystopian romance as part of the 1NF3CTION shared world collab. Each book is a standalone containing themes and situations not intended for readers under the age of 18. All characters are consenting adults.
This was... super meh. The utter lack of world-building and character development made it hard to care about the characters or follow their journey. The love? Didn’t find it. At all. It was completely superficial — pure lust, not love.
There are so many missing details that it’s nearly impossible to follow the story correctly. I had to go back and reread some pages multiple times just to try and understand what they were talking about, and most of the time, I still didn’t. 😩
The writing style isn’t great, imo. Plus, too many things just didn’t add up. Amo made mistakes speaking in his own language — Moros even had to correct him! And then out of nowhere, he speaks two other languages? Please. Make it at least somewhat believable. 😑😑😑
This book could have been good, but the writing style, lack of character development, and missing backstory ruined it, in my opinion. The relationship between Moros and Wilson... I needed to know way more about them. We barely got crumbs of their relationship before Amo came along. So many things are missing, and it’s utterly frustrating.
But more than anything, their love story just isn’t believable. Everything between them went from 0 to 180 real real real quick. 😅😅😅 You don’t miss and fall in love with someone who went down on you once for a few minutes. Or maybe I’m just weird, and that’s how the world works nowadays. 😅
I’m gonna stop here before I drop more spoilers — we don’t want that.
Honestly not my favorite in this series. There wasn’t a lot of world building so I was confused for a good bit on what was going on. There also wasn’t any character building so I didn’t connect to any of the MMCs. The spice was a lot but just needed more connection or something. If you want a quick very spicy read this would be for you. If you need a little more world building then I would skip it. Way more lust than love with a very minor confusing backstory. In my opinion 🤷♀️
Jesus Mary and Joseph where did this come from?! This is my first book from Rae Stone and it will not be my last! Seriously fun and sexy I could read a thousand more pages of these three men. I like to go into book blind, I know TW and such but whatever you do you. I personally would go into book blind blind and because of that I’ll leave my review vague. If you want dystopian, darker, hot sex, broken men who find solace in each other. This is the book! Seriously great writing a really fun engaging plot, I could not put it down!
This was so good and I love that we got a MMM dynamic in this series! Moros, Wilson and Amo were such a great balance to one another. In the beginning I wasn’t sure Amo could handle Moros and his surly ways but it became clear pretty quickly that Amo most definitely had what it took to keep up. The introduction to Wilson was so good and perfectly set the tone for these three. He was so much sweeter than I thought he would be and it was a perfect contrast to Moros. The three of them each brought something different to their relationship yet had enough in common to for their connection to make sense.
I really liked seeing Moros slowly let his guard down and embrace what was happening with Amo, Wilson and himself. Even when he didn’t know he cared, he cared and we could see it and it was sweet. The ability to see the history of him and Wilson solidified this.
Cassia was a fun addition as Amo’s bestie and this was a fun read. This series is such a great one. Every book has been a hit!!!
Okay, listen. I did not expect my first read from this author to be an MMM dystopian romance, but here we are and I’m officially obsessed 😭 Amo, my sunshine boy, joins the Guard under the grumpy Moros (who’s all about Hunt. Survive. Fuck.) and somehow ends up catching his attention. Then there’s Wilson… yeah, these three? They just work.
The chemistry? Insane. The tension, the banter they balance each other so perfectly it feels meant to be. What surprised me most is that it’s not just about survival or desire; it’s about connection and finding love even when the world feels like it’s falling apart. I love how the author weaves the past and present, showing how much these men have endured and how their bond becomes something strong, healing, and real.
If you love dark settings and a romance that hits hard and spicy, you need to pick this up. Fair warning though Moros might just ruin you a little (in the best way). 😏💜
The Dead don't talk is book 7 in the Inf3ction series, and this one is all the spice. We're talking smoking hot dirty talking, and I LOVE IT. We follow Amo, Wilson & Moros. Yes, you saw correct three were blessed with the coveted MMM Yes, please, and most definitely, thank you. Amos is the young kind but a bit fiest when needed 23 year old virgin and Moros is your big guy with a bit off a attitude but it works because Wilson is like the sweet teddy bear so it all balances together perfectly. Well, this one is not as dark as some in the series. I dont think that takes anything away at all, and it's definitely a book in the series not to be missed.
First book of the series that is MMM and hmm did I love it! Wilson, Moros & Amo are definitely a match made in heaven for each other. You didn’t get much of the horror aspect like the other books but it was still soooo spicy. I’m glad that Amo got his HEA tho.
I inhaled this! It was a lot of fun and I loved every moment of this story! I would have happily read more of Amo, Moros and Wilson's story. The world this book is set in is dark and dystopian, but this book is a fun rom-com take on dark and dystopian. There are darker moments, but Amo's sass and snark doesn't let the book get too dark. I loved how different all three men were and how they complimented each other. Wilson is a positive sunshine person, while Moros is the grumpiest grump and Amo brings the sassy and bratty element that balances it all out. I loved the banter and I laughed a lot while reading this. The epilogue was the cherry on top, honestly. It just ended the story so nicely and it made me so happy for Amo, Moros and Wilson.
So if you want a rom-com dark and dystopian story this is the one you need to read. Entertainment guaranteed and you'll fall in love with Amo just like Moros and Wilson.
I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review.
If you’re after a fast-paced, spicy, and emotionally charged MMM romance set in a gritty dystopian world this book delivers in spades.
The Dead Don’t Talk throws you straight into the action with Moros, Amo, and Wilson. Three men with wildly different personalities who somehow just click. Moros is the gruff, emotionally guarded survivalist; Amo brings the sunshine and sweetness (and cherry pastries!); and Wilson, adds a fresh dynamic to the trio. Their chemistry is off the charts, and the tension between them is deliciously addictive.
This is the fifth book I’ve read in the 1NF3CTION shared world series, so while the world-building is light in this instalment, I didn’t mind as I already had a solid grasp of the red rain, the infected, and the immune. That said, new readers might want to start earlier in the series for full context.
Plot-wise, it leans more into the romance and spice than deep dystopian intrigue, but honestly? The spice is so good, I didn’t miss the heavier plot elements. The emotional depth and character development more than make up for it, especially as Moros grapples with his past and the possibility of opening his heart to not one, but two men who see through his walls.
It’s raw, it’s hot, and it’s surprisingly tender in all the right places. Rae Stone nails the balance between dark themes and laugh-out-loud moments, making this a standout in the series. Highly recommend for fans of queer romance with a dystopian twist and a whole lot of heat.
Vibes: -Grumpy/Sunshine -MMM -One Bed -Age Gap -Virgin MC -Dystopian -Dark Romcom
I've been very excited to read Rae's contribution to this apocalyptic series ever since it was first announced. Rae did such an amazing job with this story, the characters are fantastic and stand out from one another while fitting together almost seamlessly.
Moros, Amo, and Wilson are full of spice, banter, and lots of action.... Both in battle with the zombies and in bed together. I thought the treehouse setting was unique and creative, there hasn't been a treehouse watchtower yet in this zombie universe yet, and I thought that aspect was cool! I also liked how there was a big battle as well, it added an extra layer of suspense and danger which I enjoyed.
My only critique is I wish there was more relationship building between these three men, I wanted more moments of them getting to know each other, or even something as simple as fighting battles together. There was a lot of spice, which I'm sure other readers will love, I just wish there was less focus on the spice and more on the relationship building. However, having said that, I did still enjoy this book.
The element of Amo being a baker during a zombie apocalypse creating cherry tarts and other baked goods was such a stark contrast from everything else going on. I loved him and I adored how he didn't let his two men walk all over him, he made them work for him, that's for sure.
All in all another great zombie story and I absolutely loved the ending!!
~~~i received an early copy of this book and these are my honest thoughts and opinions.~~~
⭐⭐⭐/5 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️/5 The Dead Don’t Talk by Rae Stone is the seventh installment in the INFECTION series by Mayhem Manuscripts. Each book in this series is a standalone entry, set within an interconnected world. The Dead Don’t Talk is set 76 years after the Red Rain infection took hold, creating a sub-species of infected individuals. Some of these characters are no longer fully human, while others live with the infection, yet to turn. This particular novel is a dark MMM romcom that incorporates elements of an age gap, size difference, and a grumpy/sunshine dynamic, with a virgin main character.
Unfortunately, this book did not meet my expectations. It was riddled with plot holes that made it difficult to connect with the characters or fully invest in the story. The lack of world-building became especially evident, leaving significant gaps in the narrative. The antagonist, in particular, felt underdeveloped—when they were finally introduced, I found myself confused due to the absence of context or character information until late in the book (about 75% in).
Another significant issue was the lack of character development, particularly for the main characters. Though the author attempted to provide some backstory, it felt incomplete and often fell flat. Moros, for instance, had the potential to be a deeply intriguing and angsty character, but his past remained largely unexplored. Wilson’s backstory was even more elusive, leaving me uncertain about his history and motivations. Amo, while better fleshed out, still lacked the depth needed to make him truly compelling.
I was genuinely excited to dive into this book, as it was my first by Rae Stone, but it ultimately didn’t live up to my hopes. The story had potential and the characters had promise, but it felt unfinished or lacking in key details. As a result, I can only rate it 3 stars.
This is a bit of a Dark Romance in a Dystopian setting with some Romcom elements to it but I would check those TWs before heading in because it's still dark at times.
🌶🌶🌶🌶
Amo is a new guard for his community and is training under Moros who has a reputation for being the most bad ass MF around. Amo might also have a little (big) crush on Moros so when the opportunity for some one on one training happens Amo jumps on the opportunity. Even if that training is making the trek out to the village recluse Wilson who lives in a tree house and said to be a "people eater" When Amo gets to the tree house and meets Wilson though he is extremely surprised to find that the man is a giant Teddy bear and oh this is an overnight trip since Wilson has to go into town. Stuck overnight in a tree house with only 1 bed Amo's dreams become reality when Moros tries to "keep him warm" during the frigid night time. Then when Wilson returns Amo learns that there is way more between these two men then he thought there was and instead of being put off by this Amo is ready to be the cherry filling in this hunk pie 😉 This one was twisty turney with secrets and a TON of banter I absolutely loved. The spice was INSANE 🔥 and It even had some heart clutch moments, so you are really getting everything with this one. I left this review purposely obtuse not to spoil anything so just be prepared going in!
I absolutely love the Infection Series. The plot is incredible and the stories that each author brings to this collection has me completely hooked.
This book, still incredible, left me wanting more. The plot felt a bit confusing and dry. I loved that we got to read from three different perspectives, but I wish we got a bit more of Wilson. I feel like what we learned about Wilson was mostly from the third party, being Moros. Wilson was such an intriguing character and I just wanted more.
Amo was a great character. He was a little immature, but I think that was the point. Him being young and inexperienced was why his choices resulted in the outcome. The one thing that took me out was the insta love. I don’t even want to call it that, I didn’t really enjoy how Moros treated Amo the very first time. I think it would have been nice to have a little more insight into the characters thoughts.
I also felt like the anti-lgbtq+ agenda that was pushed in the community for the whole story didn’t really get the impact in the story to make that the big catalyst. It felt like it was building up to it, but on the actual inspection, finding Kyrt “in charge” made that last bit not seem as important as it could have been.
I love this series and each author brings new and exciting stories to each installment. I’m so very excited to keep reading it!
This Book follows Amo, Moros & Wilson. Moros, the ultra grumpy guard. Amo, the 23 year old brat with a sassy mouth. And Wilson, the loner, who lives in a treehouse far away from the other people.
Moros takes Amo with him, trains him to become a guard too. They need to visit Wilson in his remote treehouse.. and Oh My 🤭
While the other books in these series are all slow burns, this one is def not...🥵 In a world where the red rain infects people and turns them into zombies these men are fighting to survive. Guarding the other people from those zombies they live a lonely life. Not always by choise..
Being gay is not appreciated here, yet they find a way to be together. The banter, the dirty talk, the spice is * Chefs Kiss * 🫢
It's one of the shorter books in the series, a quicker read. But from start to finish a wild ride!😜
And yes, there is also time for romance, friendship and little bit of crying (iykyk, Best friend?) 😭❤️
A 5 ⭐️ read!! Oh! And can talk about this playlist?! 🩷
* Grumpy/Sassy/Sunshine *Dark Romcom * First Time * No Kissing * Age Gap * Hurt/Comfort * Size Difference * Dystopian
This book is part of the Infection series. It's a MMM romance set in a dystopian world. A mutli author collab. All books are standalones.
I have read a few books by Rae and I’ve loved every single one of them. This one was a little darker and I was here for every moment with these three men. The way that this MMM was written was so beautiful! I loved the grumpy/sassy/sunshine trope. I’ve never read one like this and it had me hooked from the first page.
I will say to read the triggers because it might not be for the faint heart. I knew what to expect when it came to this book so I totally went in blind.
The chemistry with these three worked so well. From the dubcon to the trying to deny that they didn’t deserve to be with someone, ugh, I was all in. Also, I loved how there was a size difference and oh yes, the piercing. Sign me up for more please!
Amo had me dying with his snarky attitude and Moros was a hoot with his grumpy self. Wilson was just the sweetest cinnamon. I loved how jealous Moros got when Amo was excited to see Wilson in the beginning.
All in all, I highly recommend this book because it really captures you with everything else going on. I felt so sad in one certain scene but the epilogue kind of made up for it. That part was too cute. I really wanted more from these three but what a way to go!
I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.
Holy Hotness, this was the gift that kept on giving!
The Dead Don't Talk follows Amos he has joined the Guard, lead by grumpy Moros there something about him that peaks Amos interest and not just because his bum is nice to look at. Moros has been on his own for a long time all he needs to do is Hunt, Survive and the occasional Fuck, no emotions and ready to train the new recruits, with the occasional visit to Wilson in the tower to have his release.
I absolutely devoured this much like the characters in this book, this entire universe is insane in the best way, I cannot wait to dive into the rest of them, Amos is just the cutest I want to wrap him up in bubble wrap and protect him forever, Wilson is quite literally a teddy bear and would make the best cuddle buddy, and Moros.. Come on he is daddy through and through.
I would highly recommend anything that Rae writes her stories are just pure gold, not to mention she has written some of my favourite books ever! For fans of Dystopian Settings, MMM Romances, Age Gap, and some delicious Spicy goodness.
This book missed the mark for me. It was completely full of plot holes which left me feeling detached from the characters. There was almost zero world building and that became a glaring problem as the antagonist of the story was never truly established. Once the author did attempt to establish an antagonist, it left me so confused. The reader gets almost no character info about the antagonist prior to 75% into the book.
There was also just the simple issue of a lack of backstory for the main characters. The author did seem to attempt some backstory here and there but it just fell flat. Moros could have been such an interestingly dark/angsty character, but the reader was given nothing of his story. We get even less information about Wilson. Even after reading this entire book, I’m not sure exactly what Wilson’s story was before meeting Moros. Amo was the more thought-out character of the three but even with him, we get very limited history.
I so badly wanted to like this book. This was my first Rae Stone book and unfortunately it just wasn’t what I was expecting. I wanted to love these characters and the story had the bones but it seemed unfinished or incomplete. I can’t give this book more than 2.5 stars.
- MMM - Post-apocalyptic zombie-infected world - Unserious romcom - Pierced - One sweet talks and the other degradation - Homophobic community
I really enjoyed the beginning of this book, it was really unserious/silly in a good way, and super spicy, but then the book totally lost me…. First the community is homophobic and Amo has never met anyone else gay, but then this killing spree the guys went on years ago changed things but no one ever knew about it and there are queer council members? And then they say assaulting an elder is punishable by death yet they killed elders before??? Then I feel like scenes were just so quick or skipped I questioned how we got to where we were. This was super hard to follow.
I wish the author focused on fewer things and perfected those, rather then throw a bunch of stuff together that would happen in only 213 pages. There just wasn’t enough time to flush out everything that was happening.
The author sure didn’t mess around with the spic though 🔥. There were a bunch of scenes and they were verrrryyyy spicy. Wilson loved to talk to sweet but Moros was the king of degrading dirty talk 🥵
Well this was delightfully hilarious and sweet! Amo, Moros, and Wilson are absolutely adorable in my eyes, even in their flaws. Moros is such a grump and I was so here for it because man when he cares he cares HARD, and his mouth is devilish and dirty 🥵😈. I mean I basically highlighted every spicy scene 🫣😂, I love me a good dirty talker and Moros is beyond perfect in that regards 🔥.
Wilson is also such a golden retriever, so loyal even when it hurts him in the long run, but thankfully for us he doesn't give up easy because once Amo comes around Moros & him truly start to thrive and live 🥹. I love how easily he fell into Amo.
Amo is such a sassy, bratty little cinnamon roll and the catalyst to this entire dynamic and relationship between the three 💥. I adored him, he made me laugh out loud so much 😂.
Honestly this book is an absolute banger (see what I did there 😏) and definitely a great addition to this world! There's so much spice, and just enough sweetness to keep you wholly invested along with some thrills and action in this dystopian world 💯. These three are electric together and when they finally come together they do so in an explosion of fiery passion that will make you need to drink some water yourself 🥵.
↓↓ OMG, I loved Amo. He was so sweet and happy and the glue that brought Moros and Wilson fully together, in their relationship. He was sunshine and happiness and he made me smile so much.
Moros was a complete a** half the time but towards the end he started opening up, it was very minute but it was there lol also the mouth on him, wheeewww, a little degradation anyone?
Wilson, he was the calm, when not effected by the rain. I wanted more though, we don't get much of Wilson but I feel like I could really love him if his character was expanded on more.
The three of them really balanced each other out. They were hot but also had some tender moments. Hearing Wilson open up and Moros and his past, I was furious right along with him.
The Infected series is coming to an end but I'm not quite ready to leave this crazy world just yet.
The Dead Don’t Talk gave me another look into this multi-author dark dystopian world with the story of Amos, Moros, and Wilson. Moros’ regular routine as the head of the guard becomes complicated when Amos joins and pushes at the emotional detachment he has been trying to uphold for over a decade already with Wilson, making it harder to keep both at bay.
I had a delightful time with these three guys, even with the heavier moments that come with living in their world. They had me laughing, kept me surprised, and in my feelings along with them and their journey to being together in their world of chaos and death. Moros, Amos, and Wilson meshed together quite seamlessly, even with Moros trying not to give into anything real. Wilson was just the kindest, sweetest guy who I instantly loved without a doubt. I loved how Amos met things head on, and I adored how he would show he cared even if he was rightfully angry with a certain someone! These three guys were so lovely together and I adored their HEA.
This is the second book that I've read in the Infection series. The spice was spicin, the characters stood out, and I loved the little bit of plot that this story had. While this book isn't as dark as the other book I read in this series, it's set in the same dystopian setting where the characters are surviving the red rain and zombie infection. In this book, we have an MMM romance between three very different characters. Moros was quite the grump, Amo was a ball of sunshine, and Wilson was a big, sweet teddy bear. Despite their differences, the three of them worked together so well. They had the best chemistry. Their size difference, age gap, and the piercing was oh so good! I love the way that they managed to pull off a relationship despite all the crap that was going on around them. I would suggest reading a book from the beginning of the series because not very much detail goes into the red rain, the infected, and how it all came to be. So if I hadn't read Rotten, I would have been a bit lost in that part. This was an enjoyable addition to this series.
The Inf3ction series strikes again—and it’s scorching hot! The Dead Don’t Talk is another fantastic—and spicy 🌶🌶—addition to this already incredible series.
This story features a poly (mmm) relationship between Amos, Moros, and Wilson, and let me tell you, the spice level practically sizzles right off the page. Phew! While Moros starts off closed off and guarded, he slowly learns to open himself up with the help of Wilson and Amos. I loved how naturally their relationship developed—both as a trio and in their individual dynamics.
Outside of the romance, the plot itself had me completely hooked. The storyline was gripping while staying perfectly connected to the Inf3ction world. Finally getting a glimpse inside the community—and everything that comes with it—was one of my favorite parts. Cue the incense (IYKYK) 🥵
I adored everything about this book—from Moros’s grumpiness, to Wilson’s sweetness, to Amos’s sass (and cherry tarts!) and everything in between.
I was not expecting this. All of the other books in the series had a more contentious plot-line underlying the ‘romance’ so I went into this one expecting the same. Instead, this was much, much lighter. There were still zombies and a corrupt regime, but the focus was most definintely on the physical side effects of the red-rain and the growing relationship between the three main characters. There wasn’t a lot of time/effort given to background characters which meant I didn’t get that invested in any of them. Even the whole issue with the leaders was pushed to the background – this was full of adult scenes, which is absolutely fine. I love a good bit of smut. I think I was just expecting more about the world and the way things had changed. This wasn’t the main focus at all and even though there was some mention of things, it took the background.
I may revisit this one but I am waiting for the release of the last book in this season!
Okay but WOW — this one was SPICY. Like, filthy talking, fan-yourself, check-your-heart-rate spicy. And honestly? Obsessed.
Book 7 in the Inf3ction series gives us an MMM trio and I could not be happier about it. Amo (sweet, sassy, secretly feral 23-year-old virgin), Moros (grumpy, smokey, intimidating but soft… eventually), and Wilson (literal golden retriever teddy bear). The balance? Perfection. The chemistry? Delicious.
I loved watching Moros slowly melt and pretend he didn’t care while caring the most. Amo absolutely held his own (and then some), and Wilson was the heart that tied them all together.
It’s not the darkest in the series, but honestly? It didn’t need to be. It was fun, filthy, surprisingly sweet, and the banter had me laughing more than once.
MMM? Check. Grump x sunshine x bratty sass? Check. Spice that leaves scorch marks? CHECK.
Another hit in an already amazing series. Give me 10 more please.
This fell flat. It didn't vibe with the rest of the series. The characters had no depth and, let's be honest, we never got to learn anything about them other than they like to have sex with each other. The relationships felt forced, but that could be because (again) there is no depth to any of the characters so it felt like "these 3 love each other because I said so". Major instalove which never redeemed itself. No yearning whatsoever, no build up where we can witness the characters falling in love with one another rather than being outright told that's what they're doing. And... what plot? The raiders attacking never made sense and it was just messy overall. This book lacks details in every aspect and while I can appreciate a spice-heavy book, I still expect the book to have substance and be well-written. It felt amateurish. I've been obsessed with this series, but this book just didn't hit.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Amos, Moros, and Wilson are thrown together in the Guard. Amos as a new recruit, and Moros and Wilson having been around for a while. I love the premise and the world that this exists in, but there were elements and relationships that just kinda fell flat for more - or that didn't feel fully developed maybe? I loved the idea of Amos, Moros, and Wilson as a throuple because they were so very different people, but it felt very physically focused and much less developed on the emotional level. And some of the backstory that I think was intended to help build that feeling element, didn't seem like it fully connected the way it was intended (at least for me).
It was a fun read, and I don't have any complaints about the writing, and it was quick to go through in an afternoon. It's such a cool concept.
The Dead Don’t Talk by Rae Stone absolutely consumed me—I couldn’t put it down for a second. This was my first book by the author, but definitely not my last. From the moment I started, I was hooked by the dark, dystopian setting, the raw emotion, and the scorching chemistry between these three broken men who somehow find light and solace in each other. The writing is sharp and immersive, the tension perfectly balanced between survival and surrender, and the emotional depth caught me completely off guard in the best way. I went in blind (highly recommend!) and ended up completely obsessed with this brutal yet beautiful world. It’s dark, sexy, heartbreaking, and full of moments that make your chest ache—in other words, everything I love in a story.
Well I flew through this! My first Rae Stone book and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. This was, despite being a post apocalyptic book with gore and violence, a seriously fun read.
Amo was so sassy and hilarious. And his energy is exactly what’s needed in a violent world like this. He stole the scene every time and he me smiling so much. Grumpy Moros had me chuckling a few times too as Amo had him scrambling. He tried his best to deny what they were turning into, but ultimately failed. And Wilson was just adorable. Such a soft and sweet teddy bear. He definitely balanced out Amo and Moros is the best way. And the spice between these three was chefs kiss.
I got an advanced copy and this is my voluntary review.
