Rate this book
Welcome to the Clown Motel. The stage is set. The audience is waiting. And you are the main event.

For cynical branding consultant Amelia Vance, the infamous Clown Motel in Tonopah, Nevada, is just another job. Hired to bottle the lightning of its kitschy, roadside horror for a new corporate chain, she arrives armed with a professional eye and a deep-seated disbelief in anything that can’t be explained on a spreadsheet. Her deconstruct the motel's unsettling charm and turn it into a marketable asset.

But from the moment she arrives, the performance begins. The townspeople offer rehearsed warnings with unnerving winks. The dead-eyed clerk, Silas, greets her as if she's an expected guest of honor. And the lobby—a suffocating congregation of silent, watchful clowns—feels less like a collection and more like an audience. When a phantom birthday party lures her into a sealed basement where time stands still, Amelia discovers the horrifying the motel isn't just haunted. It’s a sentient theater, a psychological prison that feeds on memory and regret.

The motel doesn't want to kill her. It wants to cast her. As the building redesigns itself around her, redecorating her room with the artifacts of her greatest failures, Amelia is offered an unspeakable promotion. Join the show's demonic management and become the new Artistic Director, or be rewritten entirely, forced to play the lead in a new, eternal tragedy for a spectral audience of the damned.

Armed with only her wits and a camera that can capture the truth behind the performance, Amelia must navigate a labyrinth of backstage horrors and face the grieving, furious ghost at the heart of the curse. To survive, she can't just be a spectator—she must become the director of her own damnation.

A chilling blend of Stephen King's The Shining and the surreal, psychological horror of Black Mirror, The Curse of the Clown Motel is an unforgettable supernatural thriller about the stories we tell ourselves and the roles we are forced to play. Check in. Your room is ready.

Do you like scary clowns? Obviously, with a title like this, clowns will feature heavily in this book. But it's quite a lot more than just another scary clown story.

A woman who works in branding for big companies finds this unique weird motel online. As part of her job, she'll travel there to take photos and get a feel for the aesthetic of the place.

But checking in is creepy enough and it doesn't take long until she finds herself trapped in a nightmarish world of grief and pain. The Motel changes and she's forced to play her part along with the ghosts of past guests and children who are suffering over and over in their pain and misery.

Yes, clowns are going to play a role but this is more of a supernatural fever dream with grief being the factor behind these macabre scenarios.

This is a really creepy book that you'll be able to read in a day and I highly recommend it.
