Westbury’s attics aren’t the only places harboring secrets …
Maggie Martin isn’t hosting Rosemont’s annual Christmas potluck. Her Christmas cheer has vanished until an exciting piece of news and a call for help propels her into action.
Meanwhile, Anita Archer’s sewing machine museum is rapidly becoming a reality. She’s purchased an abandoned building on the town square, and renovations are ahead of schedule and under budget. Until they’re not. The shocking discovery of an illicit enterprise would have been enough. When pipes freeze, the resulting flood exposes a discovery that puts Westbury on the map in a whole new way.
Sunday Sloan and Josh Newlon are immersed in wedding preparations. The gown she bought online arrives, and it’s not the one she ordered. Sunday knows she’ll have to make do with the dress she received—there’s not enough time before the ceremony for her to find the dress she’s dreamed of since childhood. The women of Westbury will hear none of it. With the clock ticking toward the big day, a circle of determined women turns disaster into a shared triumph of friendship and skill.
Welcome back to Rosemont, where every chapter feels like coming home.
USA Today Bestselling Author Barbara Hinske is an attorney who recently left the practice of law to pursue her career as a full-time novelist. She inherited the fiction gene from her father who wrote mysteries when he retired and told her a story every night of her childhood. Barbara is the bestselling author of the beloved Rosemont series; the acclaimed Guiding Emily series; a collection of murder mystery thrillers in her "Who's There?" collection; and her sweet Christmas novellas The Christmas Club (adapted for the Hallmark Channel in 2019), Paws & Pastries, and No Matter How Far.
She and her husband share their own Rosemont with two adorable and spoiled dogs. She is besotted with decorating, entertaining, cooking and gardening. Now that her novel The Christmas Club has been made into a Hallmark Channel movie, she is completely star-struck and thrilled to have her work on the screen.
Another sweet visit to Westbury! I thoroughly enjoyed the latest entry in the Rosemont series. We are back with Maggie and friends in the charming town of Westbury but the focus of this story is on Sunday Sloan, rare book librarian at Highpointe College, and her upcoming wedding. We also get to follow Anita Archer, owner of Archer's Bridal in her efforts to open a sewing machine museum! I got all the vibes with descriptions of winter and holiday decor. I loved the kindness exhibited by the characters and cheered at their acheivements. I could relate to the character's long held dreams and enjoyed how the story developed. This book is perfect if you are looking for a clean cozy read, light mystery, and sweet romantic moments.
First of all, this is the first book I have read by this author and I am absolutely enchanted by her heartwarming way of telling a story that engaged me from beginning to end. Although this is part of a series, I was able to read and enjoy this book without having read the others in the series, but I am certainly interested in returning to Rosemont and reading the previous books. This is the story of various people in a small town who support and help each other. It is the fascinating story of a sewing machine museum, a wedding, and the love that can only come from people who know and accept each other just as they are. I enjoyed the pace of the story which was perfect and allowed me to get to know the characters as they became friends in my mind instead of strangers. All of the characters are realistically portrayed, and my favorite was Sunday, the bride with dreams but who was also willing to compromise her dreams if she needed to do so. The older characters, Maggie and John, were the ones I related to because they are in my generation, but I enjoyed reading the story of each person ini the story and got invested in reading to their happily ever after. What a wonderfully uplifting and encouraging book to read, and I highly recommend it to anyone who needs to be assured of the goodness and generosity of people to others. I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a positive review, and all opinions expressed are my own.
There's something utterly magical about returning to Rosemont, and this installment delivers all the warmth and comfort I've come to love from this series. From the moment I opened the first page, I felt like I was catching up with old friends over coffee. The story beautifully weaves together three interconnected storylines. Maggie Martin has lost her Christmas spirit until a call for help pulls her out of her funk. Anita Archer's sewing museum project hits unexpected snags when renovations uncover both an illicit enterprise and a shocking historical discovery. Meanwhile, Sunday Sloan faces every bride's nightmare when her online wedding dress order goes terribly wrong just weeks before her ceremony. What absolutely captured my heart was watching the women of Westbury rally around Sunday, refusing to let her settle for anything less than her dream wedding dress. The author has a gift for creating cozy fiction that feels genuine rather than saccharine. Yes, there are mysteries and secrets being uncovered, but the tone stays light, hopeful, and heartwarming throughout. The Christmas setting adds an extra layer of coziness without overwhelming the story. This is comfort reading at its absolute finest, the kind of book that leaves you feeling uplifted and believing in the goodness of people. If you love stories about genuine friendship, small-town charm, and the magic that happens when a community comes together, this book is for you. It truly does feel like coming home, and I'm already counting down the days until my next visit to Rosemont.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I think I found another series to get lost in. I know I’m late to the party, but just think of the fun I can have catching up! The series is the Rosemont series by Barbara Hinske. I just finished Threads of Kindness, the eleventh book in the series! Don’t be afraid to jump in anywhere because I just did! Ms. Hinske is so talented that you never feel lost when you pick up any book she’s written. How great is that?
Threads of Kindness takes place during the holiday season. Holidays are different this year for some. There is a new museum coming to town and some fun discoveries in the old building that is going to house it and another couple is busy planning their wedding. There is so much happening in this book and I was so engrossed with learning the new characters and all the kindness being shown to each other.
One of the best things about this series is it takes place in the small town of Rosemont. You know me, I love small towns. Rosemont didn’t make me feel like I was home, but it definitely is a town that I would consider living in. I love how the people are so kind and caring. I also love that there are distinct differences in their seasons.
If you are a series fanatic like I am, you will love this series. There is even a special Facebook group that is all about Rosemont for those that love the series. I haven’t looked into it yet, but I plan to. I definitely think you will enjoy this story if for nothing more than a great book to read for the holidays. Grab a copy for your nightstand! You can thank me later. Until next time…Happy Reading!
Don’t forget to support the authors you read by leaving a review.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. The opinions I have expressed are my own and I was not required to write a review. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.
Oh My Heavens! This book has so much to it.. From Maggie Martin not hosting the Christmas dinner. To the marriage of Sunday Sloan to Josh Newlon. Anita Archer, owner of Archer's Bridal, has decided to open a Vintage Sewing machine museum. Looking to find the best place to make this a reality was an easy decision. But, will it work out? Will there be obstacles?
Poor Sunday had ordered her dream wedding dress online. When it arrives, it isn't the dress she had ordered. There isn't enough time to get the right dress she has dreamt of since middle school. In steps Anita with a good solution.
David Wheeler returns from California on break from Guide training school. Frank Haynes shows everyone at Forever Friends Animal Shelter the plans for "Forever Guide" and how the ground breaking to building will take place. David will need to finish his schooling, and it will take about 2 years to build the Guide Center with some extras added to the original thoughts by a generous anonymous donor.
Through it all, all of your favorite friends and residents of Westbury are there through thick and thin helping each other out with their problems and solutions. Once again, Barbara Hinske delights the readers eyes with wonderful words to read. The mind to enjoy being back in Westbury. I highly recommend this book to be on your next To-Be-Read pile.
A heartwarming story involving friends and family coming together in times of need.
Maggie was feeling down about not hosting the annual Christmas potluck but gets involved in other ways that bring her Christmas cheer back.
Anita’s dream of opening a sewing machine museum is closer to becoming a reality. She’s found the perfect location, which comes with quite a few surprises. She helps the library gain additional business by hosting an exhibit and talk about the sewing machines in her possession.
Sunday and Josh are getting married, and she’s ordered her dream dress. But the dress that arrives isn’t even close to the one she ordered. With time running out, she’ll just have to settle for what she has. Or will she? Anita and her employees come up with a plan that benefits the wedding, the sewing machine museum, and the library.
There’s also talk about the new guide dog school that will be built, young David’s role in the endeavor, and a generous surprise that has come his way as he returns to school.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
THREADS OF KINDNESS is the eleventh book in the Rosemont series and I can’t wait for more. Barbara Hinske has crafted a beloved town that I would welcome to call home. Filled with characters I have grown to love, I can’t wait to see what they are up to next.
Maggie is once more at the center of much of the action but many others were in the spotlight due to their kindnesses but also their place in their town. So many are working together to get things done personally, professionally and with a civic mindedness. I loved the small town feel and how the businesses are always involved. The addition of all the fur babies is welcoming and Alistair is the friendliest ghost going and also thoughtful.
There are a few surprises and unexpected twists but the reveals were nicely portrayed. There is romance in the air even between some married couples and I loved how we saw one love go from dating to engagement to their wedding. There was some closure and a happily ever after but the book fell short in that there is so much more story to tell but left us with a cliffhanger or two.
I rated the book 4.5 stars but rounded to 5 stars here and on other sites.
Anita Archer - Owner of Archer's Bridle Shop Gordon - Appraiser Sunday- Librarian- bride Josh- works with animals- Groom
Anita wanted to open her own sewing machine museum. But finding the right location to do museum. She found the right place. Sunday was getting ready for her wedding. Between helping with a wedding Anita found time to get the museum found many different things going on in the museum. Gordon found time from is work as an appraiser to be with Anita. I enjoy reading this book with many interesting things going on. Barbara wrote a fascinating story. She made characters perfect to be together. Will Anita get her museum opened? Will Josh and Sunday have everything they want for a wedding. I recommend this book to other readers like me.
Threads of Kindness by Barbara Hinske is the Eleventh Novel in the Rosemont Series but the first I had read. The book begins on Christmas Day covering so much about the characters from the last ten books. From Maggie Martin not hosting the Christmas dinner. To the marriage of Sunday Sloan to Josh Newlon. Anita Archer, owner of Archer's Bridal, has decided to open a Vintage Sewing machine museum. Much of this is normal everyday living until a big discovery is made.
The author has given some of the background on each of the characters but still I felt a bit like the newcomer in a small-town community. There are a lot of characters and couples to keep straight. The story is well written, interesting and overall a flowing easy read. Still I wish I had read some of the couples’ previous books. So for fans of the series Threads of Kindness is a must read.
I was allowed to read Threads of Kindness as an ARC and have to say it did not disappoint!! I love Barbara's books and always come away inspired by the kindness and closeness of the characters. The Rosemont series is absolutely one of the best. The characters are caring and down to earth. This book had so much going on but was not rushed or confusing in any way. It warmed my heart to see a town continue to come together and meet the needs of those in their community and react to bring about the best for all. If you've not read any of the series, I encourage you to do so, you will not be disappointed! Thank you Barbara, I'm already looking forward to coming back to Rosemont in the next book!!!
Threads of Kindness is Christian, contemporary, women's friendship fiction at its finest! I have fallen in love with Ms. Hinske's fictional town of Westbury and the kindnesses shown by the town residents. I especially enjoy the books where Frank and David and their furry friends make an appearance. You will learn more about Anita's sewing machine museum than you ever expected. In this well written novel, Josh and Sunday's wedding is soon to occur. It is wonderful how the women solve Sunday's wedding dress issue. Whenever I get a new book from Ms. Hinske, I clear my day's schedule so I can lose myself in the day to day drama of these wonderful people and their town. I do not want interruptions!
I love these Westbury folks so much. They are so special in how they care for each other and in the things they do for each other – without being asked to. Sunday and Josh were front and center in this book. They are such an awesome couple. I love the animal rescues and the seeing eye portions of this story. Both are very close to my heart and so important in our world today. What a wonderful idea – a sewing machine museum. I have sewed on a treadle machine. How many of you have? I remember loving it. If you haven’t met the good people of Westbury, I hope you do so soon. I think you will love them as much as I do. I received an ARC of this book, but my opinion is my own.
Wow book 11 and just as wonderful. I received an ARC but the views are mine. Go back to the town of Westbury and enjoy the visit. It was hard to put the book down, eagerly wanting to know what happened next. It seemed strange to not have Christmas at Rosemount, but it worked out. There is another wedding in tis book, what's a wedding without some changes and surprises along the way. Who knew that buying the Old Candy store would be so exciting?! Sewing machine exhibit draws lots of interest. Frank, Josh and David talk about forever Guides. David is relieved that Frank and Josh are planning on details that he thought they might expect him to do.
A sweet love story as Josh and Sunny plan their wedding. Fun details of wedding planning included. Maggie is searching for a property to open a museum of antique sewing machines. She think she has the perfect setting but encounters more than one problem.
A ghost in the house at Rosemont adds some humor. A small town setting and the holiday season add more magic to the story.
When Sunny’s dress arrives, and it is not the wedding dress of her dreams, Maggie plans a surprise. Who would think a live stream of sewing a wedding dress would have such a big fan base?
Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.
Threads of Kindness is the first book I’ve read by Barbara Hinske and I don’t know why I didn’t find this author sooner. This book has some of everything: a little romance, people who care about each other, a wedding and the opening of a unique museum. The characters are ordinary people who are KIND. In today’s world so filled with hate and nasty words the kindness and caring gave me a strong feeling of hope.My advice to readers -turn off the news and read Threads of Kindness. It will help your mood and blood pressure. As this was my first read in the series I must go find some more books by Hinske.
Threads of kindness are woven through threads of friendship in Westbury. Whether it be the friends gathering together for a Christmas potluck, pulling together for a new guide dog school, for finding hidden treasures, or gathering together to give Sunday the wedding of her dreams, the admiration and love shown by the characters make Barbara Hinske’s Rosemont series a special, and endearing read. I received an eARC from the author of this wonderful book without remuneration. This review is my personal opinion.
What a perfect title for this book! The theme of Kindness is prevalent throughout the story. From volunteering to babysit, to offering to sew a handmade bridal gown, to donating a car to a young man leaving for college, there are so many thoughtful gestures made by the characters in Threads of Kindness. Surprises abound as well, with significant discoveries in unexpected places and heartwarming acts of compassion and inclusion toward each other. Thank you, Barbara, for this newest installment in the Rosemont series. Such a pleasure to reconnect with the characters we have come to love.
A short visit to Westbury for the holidays and to catch up with friends and neighbors. That is the feels one gets reading Barbara Hinske’s latest novel about this precious town that I would like to visit. Where else can you see your friends start a museum, make a wedding dress from scratch and discover dinosaur bones in the cellar? There is just enough catch up with the characters we have grown to love. And Barb leaves us wishing for more as Sunday and Josh walk down the aisle after their vows!
Unfortunately for me, this is the first book in the series I have read. Yes the story jumps right in with unfamiliar characters and history. But everything is so well written that it was easy to pick up the pieces of the story. I just love how the whole town comes together in every circumstance. Anita and her desire for the museum is so beautiful to read, along with her solution for Susan. So many beautiful scenes of love and friendship. Beautiful story. I received this book from the author and this is my voluntary, honest review.
Threads of kindness is a charming feel good story. It is the 11th book of a series that I have not read prior to this one. For that reason, my review might be a little skewed. My impressions were of feeling lost, not knowing who the characters were or their connections. The author did do some explaining, but I was just really not connected to the characters. It was a nice read as far as people helping other people and that just gives you a warm fuzzy feeling. I am giving a rating that exemplifies a well written book. And I think if I had read the series, it would have been a higher rating.
Another delightful visit to Rosemont. Barbara Hinske invites us to share in the love that Westbury provides all of its residents and their visitors. Share in their love, struggles, successes, mysteries, and joy. This 11th book in the Rosemont series is one of the best. It can be read as a stand alone, but you should really read the whole series to become familiar with the characters and their background stories. You will come to love the Westbury residents, and find yourself anxiously awaiting the 12th book, which is sure to be coming soon!!
Threads of Kindness is exactly what its title promises, a gentle, heartwarming story woven together by everyday moments of grace. Barbara Hinske has such a gift for creating characters who feel genuine and kindhearted, the sort of people you wish you could know in real life. There’s a deep comfort in reading about their simple conversations and small acts of care, the kind that remind you how much goodness still exists in the world.
Threads of Kindness is the kind of book that leaves you feeling calmer and more hopeful by the final page.
Thank you NetGalley for this heartwarming ARC for my review. I really enjoyed this book. There is so much going on with this story. My favorite thing is how they all come together to help each other no matter what the need May be. I loved watching the characters development along their interesting journey. Barbara Hinske will leave you wanting more in her upcoming new release Threads of Kindness.
It's Christmas time in Westbury. This is the story of community pulling together for each other. The characters know each other well and do what they can to show support, neighborliness, and love.
Barbara Hinske writes inspiring books about human kindness and love for their neighbors. It's always a pleasure to read her books. You do not need to have read the previous books in this series to enjoy this one.
I’ve read every book in this wonderful series, and while I’ve enjoyed them all, I believe Threads of Kindness is my favorite. This story felt like coming home. Westbury came alive for me—the familiar characters, the town square, the charming shops, and Rosemont itself all felt deeply familiar, as though I had grown up there. Thank you, Barbara Hinske, for creating a place that feels like home and for taking me back there once again.
I so look forward to Barbara‘s book s They always have a catching storyline and I just love all the characters in the Rosemont series. Very heartwarming I find myself smiling when I read different parts. I can just envision what her house looks like during holidays for her Christmas buffet. be sure to start this series you will not be disappointed. I cannot wait until the next book. If you love this series, you’ll definitely wanna check out her other books. They are just as great as this one.
I adore these stories by Barbara Hinske that take us back to Westbury and a wonderful group of characters that feel like your friends. There is a lot packed into these pages: Christmas, a wedding, a sewing machine museum, dogs and so much more! I am anxiously waiting for the next one! Highly recommend! I received an advance copy of this book from the author, however, I voluntarily wrote an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
This was an amazing book! Just when I think the author can’t possibly outdo the previous book, she does! Reading this series is like visiting old friends. I wish there really was a place like Rosemont. This time I found myself wishing it was a picture book so I could see the vintage sewing machines, the museum building and all the historical items it held and especially Sunday’s bridal gown. Definitely a 5* read.
One of my favorite things about a book series is the opportunity to revisit a place and a group of characters I’ve grown to love. This 11th book in the Rosemont Series was a delightful read. Life in Westbury continues to move forward with lots of new developments, surprising turns, and unexpected discoveries. It was truly heartwarming to soak up all the goodness and acts of kindness included.
Threads of Kindness, book 11, in the Rosemont series by Barbara Hinske, is a heartwarming, charming, continuation of old and new characters, which reunite the townsfolk of Westbury and the exciting things that are happening in all of their lives! There’s so much going on, you won’t want to miss it! As always, with Hinske’s writing, I couldn’t put the book down and I’m left wanting more!!!!
