Tobias felt her presence before he saw her. Sat alone by the window eating. Asher and Levi’s discussion faded into white noise as his attention focused on the odd-eyed woman nearby. If he went over and spoke to her, would it be harassment? Possibly! However, he did not care. Her overpowering female essence pulled him in like an invisible wire—cutting deep. He had no choice.
He’d been born into brutality and died by it.
Cruel, beautiful and privileged was how people commonly referred to Tobias—evil another. Until fate took a turn and a chance encounter with Phoebe turned his world upside down. Could she be! What?
Between Lucifer, the Goddess and his punishment curse, what hope did he have? Should he accept this gift? Only time would tell.
Josephine Wrightson was a new author to me prior to reading Damned & Denied so I went in with no idea of what to expect and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The book primarily centres around Phoebe (Human) & Tobias (Human turned Demon) but there is heavy involvement from other characters too, namely Lucifer...yes, THE Lucifer! This is an intricate story of redemption, healing from past trauma, jealousy and Fated mates to mention just a few of the tropes. For you Paranormal lovers there are Demons, a Goddess, and even some Wolves. Damned & Denied gives the reader those moments of comfortable predictability of what to expect next with the occasional need to skip back a page and re-read because suddenly something changed that you didn't see coming. Oh and there is a sprinkling of spice in there too for those of you who love it when things get a bit steamy!
Overall this was an enjoyable read for me and I look forward to reading more from Josephine Wrightson.

Fabulous continuation of a great series (I think it can be read as a stand alone because it introduces new characters but I would highly recommend starting at the very beginning) The story is about Phoebe who is thrown into the supernatural world very suddenly and Tobias (Who is a Demon) who discovers she is his Mate. Phoebe has been through a lot and Tobias must learn that he is worthy of redemption and he has to realise his love for Phoebe (He is so stubborn is Tobias lol) Loved reading this one and read it fast too! Can't wait for more I don't want to spoil anything of course so I will leave it at this thank you for another great read Josephine!
I enjoyed reading this fantasy tale of Phoebe, a human, and Tobias, a demon. The couple are strangely drawn together from the very beginning, and it does appear to be a case of love at first sight, even given their different lives. Tobias has led a brutal life and is still paying for his mistakes. Phoebe has also been through a lot and is wary of trusting any man, let alone a demon! The characters are well-developed, and the story incorporates others from previous books by the author. However, this book can easily be read as a standalone novel. A fascinating story.
Josephine Wrightson. You have done it again.. I devoured this book. He characters, the chemistry, all of it so wonderfully put together. I so hope there is more... Thanks for giving me the chance to read this.
#BookREVIEW #DAMNEDandDENIED I have been #reading ‘Damned and Denied’ and it’s REALLY good. If you haven’t already picked it up, go and grab a copy from #amazon. The tension will have you on the edge of your seat, ensuring you turn the next page. 5-stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ @josephinewrightson
I have to say I really loved this book. Partly I have to admit it was because the author and I both write demon books, and we have some concepts in common (Lucifer, Asmodeus, the possibility of repentant demons, humans as commodities, Lucifer having multiple demon spawn, demons being able to read thoughts, etc.)
But also I just loved the story. When Phoebe, who had a fair bit of abuse in her life, tries to help others in the same situation, that tugged at my heartstrings. When she fell in love with Tobias, a man who in reality, was a demon who didn't feel worthy of her, that struck another cord with me. I was in his corner from then on. The author says: "Humans, although intriguing, could be idiots." Lol. The same could be said of the demons. (Although I liked how they stuck together to help one another, whether they were human or demon; even Lucifer, who is a far more likable Fallen in this story than he is in some.)
Without giving away too many spoilers, Sariel, a full Demon/ fallen angel with no redeeming qualities, is after Tobias and his allies, and he does a number of evil things to achieve his goals, almost killing Phoebe and a number of Tobias' companions. In order to save her life, Tobias, and one of his allies who I won't spoil the story by revealing, has to give her their blood to heal her. It not only changes how her body heals, it changes her perspective.
She loves Tobias, enough to fight to the death to save him. And he does the same for her. In the end, their love and their selfless acts may change Tobias' fate, give him a chance at redemption and the two lovers a chance at love.
The passion scenes are great, as are the battle scenes. The world building and character development are good. And I expect more books from this author. Nice work.
Damned & Denied is an addictive, fast-paced paranormal fantasy that completely swept me up from the first chapter. Josephine Wrightson blends demons, humans, curses, danger, and forbidden love into a story that is both dark and incredibly heartfelt. Tobias, a cursed demon with a tormented past, and Phoebe, a human carrying her own emotional scars, are the kind of star-crossed characters you instantly root for. Their chemistry is powerful, their tension is electric, and every obstacle thrown in their path only makes their connection more compelling. The author balances savage action with emotional depth, giving you both high-stakes supernatural conflict and intimate moments that stay with you. The worldbuilding is rich without being overwhelming, the pacing is tight, and the cast—including Lucifer with his sharp humor—adds layers of charm and danger. Once the story gets going, it becomes a full-on, nonstop ride through the darker corners of fate, magic, and love. This novella is the perfect quick read that leaves you wanting more. If you enjoy demon romances, cursed lovers, or paranormal adventures with heat and heart, you NEED this book on your shelf. Another fantastic story from Josephine Wrightson!
DNF @ 1% for God-awful writing. The book opens with the literary equivalent of leaning against a wall in a trench coat muttering, “You wouldn’t understand.” We don’t even know the POV character’s name, but we know he’s way too cool for us and burdened by the ennui of immortality. “Nothing matters,” the book tells us, at the exact point in a story where the one most important job of the author is to quickly tell us why something—anything—about this story matters to keep us reading. The hook is “whatever, you don’t need to keep going if you don’t wanna.” And then we’re straight into the tragic backstory of a man we don’t know yet, but we’re switching from first to third person in the middle of a chapter so I guess it’s not the POV guy? In the passive voice, while committing a felonious amount of crimes against semicolons, we are told the story of A Sad (Cool) Man who lived long ago. Too cool to love, there was only one woman he wanted—She Who Would Be Fridged. “Not that it mattered to him, or that he cared.” WTF, book. Way to violate the reader’s trust by flattening every would-be emotional moment into a big PFFFT.
Action Packed! Wow, this story was quite a ride. There never seemed to be a lull in the action. The romance was a fast burn and hot. I picked this novel up not realizing it was part of a series. There were a multitude of characters from what I assume are previous books making cameo appearances. I want to know more about Phoebe’s background and how her name (Bishop) was linked to Tobias. I want to know more about Tobias’s backstory, and I definitely want to know how/why Phoebe’s eyes do not match. I found Lucifer incredibly intriguing. I mean, he’s the prince of darkness but is helping humans in his own way. The world-building for this book was obviously completed previously, so I would recommend reading in order for better enjoyment and understanding. That being said, it is also a solid standalone. Who doesn’t love steaming hot demons with wings!?!
I do,wish this book had a little better editing. There were a lot of,exclamation points that made me feel like the characters were always yelling. There were places there periods were used that should have been commas and pulled me out of the story a bit with the sudden stops. There was also a lot of information tossed at me in the very beginning that made it a bit intimidating, but I think that is a me problem. With that said.. I hate the fated mates trope, but this one didn't make me want to throw the book. It was done well, and I enjoyed the read. The world and lore was very interesting and I saw that we may get to see a new love story with another character. I'm looking forward to that. Loved the take on demons.
Josephine Wrightson's Damned & Denied is a wild ride. Combining humans, demons, wolves, a Goddess and Lucifer himself, fans of the paranormal are in for a thrill. The cursed demon Tobias and the human Phoebe are, to say the least, star-crossed lovers, both with tormented pasts. Savage conflict between supernatural figures? Check. Super powers? of course. Lusty sex? It's in there. But Wrightson has a light touch too. Tobias and Phoebe are three-dimensional and deftly drawn. Lucifer, who goes by Luke when in human form, has a wry sense of humor. Did you ever ride a terrifying roller coaster? You were smiling at the end and probably wanted another go.
Damned and Denied is a well-written supernatural story, with fabulous well drawn-out characters that stick in your mind and that's a good thing. The story focuses around, human, phoebe who unexpectedly finds herself amidst a supernatural world. And Tobias (demon) who has walked a brutal path thus far leaving a wake behind him. Their fate is intertwined almost immediately as they are drawn to one another, but can phoebe trust Tobias, and all that comes with him. They each have their inner battles to navigate. This was a fast paced story that I enjoyed. Great read.
An exciting page turning read. Really enjoyed this book. Phoebe finds herself thrust into the world of demons . Then you have Tobias a demon who feels drawn to her. But no this can't be. She is human and not meant for this lifestyle. He is demon with a curse on him. They can't be together. And that's only the beginning of their problems. Dive 8nto this suspense filled supernatural story by the very talented @josephine Wrigtson.
A well-paced, exciting paranormal fantasy of humans, demons and, not surprisingly, Lucifer (or the ‘Boss’), sensual in places, savage in others. There’s a love story here. The book draws from other works of Josephine Wrightson’s but can be read as a standalone. As a novella, it makes for a quick read and leaves a desire to have more. All-in-all, a very good and enjoyable read.
Sensual and spellbinding, this book pulled me into the depths of a world so enchanting and complex, it left me wanting more. The pacing was beautifully done, and the characters were layered and crafted so well. I truly enjoyed the journey.
I'm not usually a fan of this kind of book but once I got reading I couldn't stop. The author has thought out every little portion of the storyline and you can tell that by the way the story has been written. Great work. Well done.
