I received an eARC for my honest opinion.
From page one, The Palace of War and Waves swept me away into a dazzling world where politics crash against tides, magic hums in every whispered secret, and war isn’t just a battle—it’s a force of magic. This was everything I love in epic fantasy: sweeping scope, richly drawn characters, unpredictable plot twists, and moments that made me gasp, cheer, and clutch my heart.
There’s more than war here. Relationships—whether friendships or love—are woven with tension, respect, trust, and betrayal. The romance isn’t tidy or easy; it’s dangerous, necessary, and doesn’t sidestep the cost of love when war is on the horizon. The rise and fall of interpersonal stakes mirror the external ones, making the romance feel like an essential part of the story, not just a subplot.
It’s hard for me to write this review because it marks the end of a journey for Allorie, Maxus, and their friends. I also don’t want to give away too much, since this is the final book in the series. What I can say is that this installment takes readers on an unforgettable adventure across kingdoms—seeking allies, facing betrayals, forming new bonds, and fighting a war against the Bloodless and a ruthless king determined to rule the world.
Stephanie’s writing continues to shine with vivid detail and emotional depth. She paints every scene so clearly that you can see the world unfolding before you. The pacing is steady throughout—slower in a few moments, but always for a purpose, often leading up to powerful revelations that hit hard when they land.
Allorie’s growth in this book is phenomenal. She finally finds the missing pieces of her heart, and witnessing her transformation and strength at the end was incredibly rewarding. And Maxus… I still adore him. He’s steadfast, supportive, and always the grounding force Allorie needs, reminding her to pause and breathe even when the world is falling apart.
That’s all I’ll say—no spoilers—but if I could go back in time and read this trilogy again for the first time, I absolutely would. It’s been a breathtaking, emotional, and magical ride from start to finish.
I want to thank Stephanie Fernandez for the opportunity to review this book.
