A sweet little historical novella of romance in Sweetwater Springs. A Scrooge behavior and a second chance. They both find amusement in her grandson’s behavior. A bit of shared sadness but hope for the future make this an enchanting romance. Can be read without the series. I listened to an Audible version included in the Sweetwater Springs Christmas anthology, although this story is not in the print version.
This short story didn't have the character development I'm used to from Debra Holland. Still, I enjoyed this Christmas themed sweet romance. It is a romance between two older people a window and one of her former beaus who never married. The town miser gets his own holiday redemption and a second chance like Scrooge.
This series is my “relax and go back in time” pleasure. I love reading these books as a break from heavily emotional books, and I saved this one for this time of year. Better than warm milk for getting me sleepy and ready for bed. I feel like I know the people in this Montana town. Social history is fascinating.
I love all Christmas stories. This one does not disappoint. May the warmth of the holidays last though out the year. And yes, I am awaited the next installment of the Montana Sky Series due out in a couple of weeks. And of course, the one afterwards. It is due in August. I truly have enjoyed each addition. The Characters are like family now!
This brings readers two new characters in Sweetwater Springs. It does include a few secondary characters readers are familiar with. It's a quick warm fuzzy Christmas story😊
Loved how he was able to come out of himself and find a way to remind her how much they had loved each other! Loved how her grandson helped bring them back together!
Debra Holland has written a very sweet tale of lost love to happiness found. Loved this Christmas short and the return to Sweetwater Springs.
Elias Masters is known as the town miser. Never spending a penny more than he has to. And it was that stubborn pride that lost his one true love 35 years ago.
Widowed and now raising her 8 year old grandson, Marian is facing a Christmas of loneliness and heartbreaking memories of her husband and daughter. When her grandson, Noah starts spending time with Elias, she doesn't know what to think. With Christmas coming, and him spending more and more time with Noah, Elias decides he needs to change and go after his hearts desire once again.
When Elias goes all out and sheds his miserly ways, can Marian trust him to be the man she fell in love with? Will she grant him his Christmas wish and give them another chance at happiness?
Sad but then hopeful. I loved Elias and Noah. The story was sweet, the angst seemed real rather than manufactured. Marion was stiff but thawed in the spirit of love and Christmas. The only Sweetwater Springs story I've not read is the contemporary. I am quite sad as I have truly enjoyed this town and its residents. I usually read much more explicit contemporary romance but this series along with Caroline fyffe's offerings of some of the mail order bride books that are interwoven have been heartwarming, lovely and a breath of fresh air.
She did it again! Debra Holland is a great author, every time she has a book release it just keep getting better and better. I loved the message of new beginnings and forgiveness for past mistakes. Her character are always real and easy to relate with and Marian and Elias were written as real people with real emotions, and courage to fix their lives.
As with all of Debra Holland's books you are taken into the story and when it ends you feel very happy about the trip and the people you met. Can't wait for my next adventure.
I love stories that have a Christian story line. Also that the people in the story are real and have human failures band need to see that they need God in their lives like we are do. Please continue to write stories like these.
Sweetwater Springs Scrooge is about how love makes a difference in our lives even if it takes 30 years. You will be uplifted by this story. If not, then maybe ,you are Scrooge. Enjoy!
What a wonderful take on past first loves and Christmas Carol/Scrooge. The love of Marian for daughter and grandson and husband that she lost too was AMAZING and that Elias accepted all was good.
Debra Holland writes so fluently I felt like I was there experiencing the events of a harder but genuine lifestyle. The Montana sky series is truly a gem.
