The Prettiest Of Lies

Rate this book
She escaped Fairy once. To save her daughter, she must go back.

Giselle swore she’d never return to the realm that stole her childhood. But when the Fae take her daughter, she has no choice but to step back into their glittering, vicious world.

Fairy is all sharp smiles and cruel bargains, ruled by a king who delights in turning love into a weapon. To survive his games, Giselle must rely on her wits—and on a charming, reckless Fae rogue whose silver tongue hides more secrets than truths.

As danger closes in, every choice brings her closer to losing the one thing she can’t live without. In a kingdom built on lies, the only way out may be to play along.

Perfect for fans of The Cruel Prince and An Enchantment of Ravens, The Prettiest of Lies is a darkly romantic fantasy of treachery, desire, and a mother’s fight to reclaim what was stolen.

Thank you so much to the author for the advanced copy of this book! I loved the premise and the exploration of what it is to be a mother. This book has good pacing and lots of secrets which kept me reading. There was just something that didn’t personally suck me in about it but overall it’s an enjoyable read to help escape reality lol

⭐️ 4.5 stars for me!

A few chapters in, I thought I wouldn’t like it. But wow, I was so wrong. I ended up loving everything about this book! The characters, the world-building, everything just worked so well.

The chemistry between Locke and Giselle? Chef’s kiss. I loveeeee the playful banter, the apologies, the care, the anger, the trust.

‘The things I could do for you. To you.’

And when I say I did not expect the ending, I really mean I DID NOT EXPECT IT. Rebecca, where is the next book?! I need it right now, please.

Absolutely Devoured this book!

I found this book through the authors Instagram, and I absolutely devoured it. I truly enjoyed the world she built and how intricate it was. There is so much opportunity for growth inside of the series, and I am truly excited to see where it goes.
The world building and characters growth was fun to submerge myself in. I’m so excited for the potential of this series.

THE WHIMSY!! I liked the cruel prince, but this is something else entirely. A main male character who is funny and charming and a brooding female main character- yes! But also like what a unique concept and the author pulls it off so well. We need more stories about mothers in this genre! Plus that ending! I need the next book yesterday!

love the world building and the dynamic established with the FMC and mmc. Only thing I hated is it ending and having to wait for the next one!

I absolutely adored this story! It had just the right amount of angst, action, adventure and romance (definitely wouldn’t have argued with more romance though, lol). The world of Fairy is something else entirely.. like a mix of maybe The Witcher and Lord of the Rings if I had to try and describe it, given the beauty and ugliness of the places, characters, and creatures. And despite some of the heavier elements, I feel like the book was pretty fun and lighthearted given the interaction between certain characters. Speaking of characters, Locke is hands down my favorite! The banter between him and Giselle was so much fun! I loved their chemistry and the tension between them, and can’t wait to see the rest of their story unfold. The ending was definitely a cliffhanger, but one that I loved to hate where cliffhangers are concerned. I honestly cannot wait to read the next book! Chefs kiss 🫶

I was fortunate enough to be an ARC reading for this book and I could not get enough!

The story played out like a movie in my head as I was reading. The characters were so relatable with their charm and wit that they really drew me into their world. I rooted for the characters, felt let down when they did, and cheered when victories came their way. I was hooked until the last punctuation mark and even that left me wanting more.

I devoured this book and I am eagerly awaiting the next one.

The Prettiest of Lies has a bit of everything - humor, romance, mystery, fantasy, and it will certainly keep you on your toes. Do yourself a favor and buy this book!!! It is worth it!

Let me start by saying this book was a breath of fresh in the fantasy scene. It’s absolutely worth the read. I was delighted by so many aspects: the quest element, the witty characters, and the dazzling MMC.

The first few chapters were a bit slow, which I expected, but the story really picked up after about 30%. At times it felt a little overwhelming and busy, yet overall it was such a fun read!

I’ll definitely be waiting for book two.

I’m so grateful to have been an ARC reader for this amazing book.

The whole concept is so original! Rebecca’s writing was very immersive with the right amount of detail. This book has everything from fairies to trolls and witches. The fmc shines light on feeling like you’re never good enough. Something that I feel a lot of women struggle with and I really appreciated that. I loved the plot twist and am excited for the sequel!

I want to thank Rebecca for sending me a copy of this book to read. I was super excited to read this and so thankful to get my hands on it before release day!

The Prettiest Of Lies follows Giselle, a human, who is fighting to get her child back from the King of Fairy.
There are adventures, trolls, elves, an enemies to lovers slow burn, and constant reminders of how a mother will stop at no end for her child.

I rated this book 3.5 stars, but rounded it up since we can’t rate at halves.

The world building is excellent and my favorite part. I personally like it when an author details the world they’ve created so I can envision it while I’m reading the book.
The character development of the fmc and mmc are very well done, which is another personal favorite of mine. It helps the reader be able to develop a vision of what the character looks like and their personality.
There were some small typos throughout with spelling, so during the moments reading them, I did go back a few times to see if it was the same character or a new one when it was a name.
The plot was very well thought out, the book very well paced. I didn’t feel like it dragged on just for the sake of it. I have read books where it felt like the author was just trying to make the book longer, but this one never felt that way at all.
I’m super excited for book two, so I hope it will be released in 2026 because I’m definitely reading it!

The first in the series, The Prettiest of Lies does a phenomenal job laying the groundwork to decadent worlds in the land of Fairy and provides character backgrounds gradually, building them as the novel goes. Locke & Plum (Giselle)’s story begins as she searches for her child and develops well throughout every trial and challenge they face together. Giselle’s character develops tremendously throughout the journey as she deals with haunting demons from her past as she tries to overcome what she’s always believed, and always been told, and reconcile that with what she wants for her future and how Locke sees her. Locke is a complete sweetheart & I fell in love with him almost instantly. A constant rock for Giselle, his Plum, Locke fights through his own past demons to provide unwavering support and love. His background remains somewhat of a mystery as the novel ends on a cliffhanger, but his belief in Giselle and how adamant he is to help her see herself as he does is so heartwarming. The banter between the two is phenomenal and thoroughly entertaining throughout their journey and adventures. I am looking forward to the next installment of this series to see how their journey progresses and see if they can escape the harrowing situation they in which they find themselves at the end of the book.
My favorite quote of the book:
“You are so much more than you think, Giselle…I refuse to let you believe otherwise.”

English below :
Wow ! Quelle lecture.

Wow! What a read.

I loved it from the first pages. A story that keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. A perfect blend of quests and romance. Giselle, a broken woman who doesn't let herself be easily approached, and Locke, a handsome, dark, and sharp-tongued man, won me over from the very first pages. The banter between the two is delicious from beginning to end.

The title of each chapter represents a sentence that a character will say. It's a little teaser from the author for each chapter, and I quickly found myself wanting to discover the sentence in question.

The ending... what an ending! Rebecca, write the second volume quickly!

✨ ARC Review ✨

I had the chance to read an early copy of The Prettiest of Lies by Rebecca Fazzio, releasing October 1st! 💌 First off, a big thank you to the author for sending me this ARC—I always feel lucky to dive into a story before release. 📖

This book definitely had its strong points: the premise was intriguing, the secrets had me hooked, and the pacing kept me curious to see how it would all unfold. There were moments I really enjoyed, especially when the tension picked up! 🔍✨

That said, it didn’t completely hit the mark for me. While the concept was strong, I found myself wishing for deeper character development and a bit more emotional punch to really connect with the story. For me, it landed at ⭐⭐⭐/5.

Still, if you love a twisty, secret-filled read with a gorgeous cover, you may want to check this one out on release day! 🎉

Thank you again Rebecca Fazzio for the ARC—I can’t wait to see how other readers feel about it once it’s out! 💕

This book is giving classic fantasy done right—magic, mayhem, and a heroine who could probably slay a god before breakfast. What makes this story stand apart is the absolute powerhouse that is Giselle. She’s fierce, unapologetic, and doesn’t waste time playing nice. From the first page, she’s fire and fury wrapped in a body that could ruin kingdoms. The woman gives zero f*cks, and I love her for it.

And then there’s Locke. Sweet merciful fae heavens. This man is the definition of “you’re gonna be my downfall, but I’m smiling while I fall.” He’s sexy, dangerous, and radiates that dark, broody energy that makes you want to risk it all. The chemistry between him and Giselle? Let’s just say it should come with a hazard warning and a fire extinguisher.

The story itself flows like a dream lush worldbuilding, snappy dialogue, and just enough tension to keep your heart rate doing cardio. The ending? Let’s just say I audibly gasped and immediately needed the next book.

This isn’t just a fantasy; it’s a full blown experience. A delicious mix of heat, heart, and high stakes that’ll have you clutching the pages and whispering, “just one more chapter.

Thank you for the opportunity to let me read the book before release. First of all I absolutely loved the concept of the human world blending with the Fairy world. I really enjoyed reading from the beginning about the lingering darkness and the beauty of the Fae magic through the protagonist's eyes—the worldbuilding is beautiful and the descriptions of places and settings were really strongly written.

However I had a bit of a difficulty connecting with some of the characters, particularly with the protagonist and her contradictory feelings in the early chapters. I would love some more descriptive and extended character development and/or focus on the protagonist's internal conflict and her thoughts in the first chapters. I loved her interactions with Locke and I would love to read more about her past in the Fairy world from the beginning and more of how her past and conflict shaped her to the person she is now.

All in all, though, this book was pretty enjoyable to read. If you want a blend of the human and the whimsical and the fantastical, it's definitely a book for you.

This book was absolutely fantastic! So full of magic, twists and turns. I tried as hard as I could to make this book last as I dove in and became hooked. It lived in my head throughout the day as I would wonder what would happen next!

Giselle: she is simply, perfectly imperfect! I looove her character so much! Strong, courageous and a little bit of a feral mother loves inside of her! I loved seeing her desire grow more fiercely as the days went on!

Locke: I kinda love him. He is so playful! The descriptions of his look and demeanour is *chefs kiss* 😘
His dark friends are so intriguing! I would have loved to go deeper into them and what they all do and are capable of! The desire he has for Giselle is something else!

And the ending…. WHAT WAS THAT!!!!! Ahhhhhhh what a cliff hanger!

What a job well done! I highly recommend this book! The characters are all so fantastic!

I had the pleasure of being able to ARC read this. The cover is stunning and the writing is fantastic. I wondered if I was able to get this read in three days and I was! I just did not want to put the book down! I love fantasy and adult themes and this book was thrust into my lap as a Beauty and the Beast/Labyrinth inspired Fantasy and I can confirm it definitely fits the bill. The author did a wonderful job at making a villain I loathed, it's not every day that happens.

I felt like I could envision the scenes and was there watching the journey. The two leads have a deliciously excruciating slow burn, but I'm glad for it as I've read so many books where the FL gets with the ML within the first 10 chapters. I would definitely recommend buying a physical copy, just to have the stunning cover adorning your shelf, I know I most likely am going to order the hardback.

I have just finished The prettiest of lies and my mind is blown. We meet some great characters and some not so great characters, from the slow start to the middle my heart would flutter with excitement whether it was from danger or something else and I appreciate the slow burn romance and nothing too in your face. I just couldn’t put it down. There was not much not to like apart from the ending (I really did love it), I really needed more and didn’t want it to end and now I sit here wondering and waiting for the next book so I get to know what happens. Like I said my mind is blown, the twist at end I wasn’t expecting that at all, I NEED MORE. This story is very well written and I’m looking forward to reading more from Rebecca Fazzio especially the continuation of this series, I am well and truly invested in whether it goes the way I really hope it goes. 🤯

Rebecca Fazzio delivers a gripping and emotionally charged story that pulls you in from the very first page. The Prettiest of Lies is a dark, addictive blend of love, deception, and raw vulnerability. The characters are beautifully flawed — haunted by secrets and tangled in choices that blur the line between truth and manipulation.

Fazzio’s writing is sharp and atmospheric, capturing both the pain and the passion of her characters’ journey. The twists are unexpected yet perfectly timed, keeping you second-guessing everyone’s motives until the very end. It’s one of those stories that lingers long after you’ve finished, making you rethink who you can trust — and what love really means when it’s built on lies.

If you enjoy dark romance with emotional depth, a haunting tone, and jaw-dropping reveals, The Prettiest of Lies is an absolute must-read.

A solid start to a dark fae fantasy series with strong emotional stakes. The story follows a human mother whose baby is kidnapped, forcing her to navigate a cruel fae world and join forces with a mysterious male fae to get her child back.

There’s excellent world-building and a rich magical atmosphere, with themes of motherhood, survival, and transformation woven throughout. The FMC’s growth—from traumatized and helpless to determined and strong—was one of the highlights.

That said, the pacing was slow at times, and the writing style could use refinement. Still, there’s plenty of potential here, and I’m interested to see how the story unfolds in Book 2.

Perfect for readers who enjoy: fae magic, high-stakes maternal quests, and slow-burn character development.

Easily one of my top three favorite reads of the year! It usually takes me hundreds of pages to get into a new book, but this one had me from the beginning. The world building is easy to follow and flows well with the storyline. The banter is amazing… and hello, shadow daddy!! I also love that the main female character is a mom, and you get to see some of the intimate moments of motherhood, like breastfeeding and questioning whether you are enough. Rebecca’s writing style is easily digestible, and she paints the perfect picture of the world and all of the creatures within. The 10ish minute chapters just had me saying “one more chapter won’t hurt” every time! I cannot wait for the next book!

From the very beginning, I wasn’t sure if this story would grab me—but it completely proved me wrong. I adored every aspect of this book: the characters, the immersive world-building, and the way everything tied together so seamlessly.

The dynamic between Locke and Giselle is simply brilliant. Their banter, their moments of vulnerability, the passion, the trust—it all felt so alive and real. I couldn’t get enough of their chemistry.

And that ending? Absolutely jaw-dropping. I did not see it coming at all, and it left me desperate for the next installment. Rebecca Fazzio, I need book two immediately!

Rebecca Fazzio! Well done!
This book was a breath of fresh air! I absolutely loved every second I was reading! I found myself enamored with the fresh new world and the creatures as well as the various fae! I found myself rooting for Giselle. I love Locke and the banter between characters! I don't want to throw any spoilers out there. I know, I'm being vague!
However, I really want to protect the story!
This is a hands-down must-read!
If you enjoy fae, witches, created creatures, trolls, and many other things you will enjoy this book! Loved, loved, loved this book!

SUCH A FUN READ!!! The characters are great and easy to like, the world-building is immersive and very well thought out, and the twist is TOP TIER!

And the chapter titles are super funny. Just want to make sure to give credit where it's due 😂

Couldn't recommend this book more highly if I tried! Fans of fae fantasy, wonderfully suspicious witches, a deliciously slow burn, and a genuine golden retriever shadow daddy will LOVE it!

From the very first sentence I was hooked! This is a fantasy and I'm not big on fantasy because they are typically hard to read, but not this book its not only an easy read but it brings you on an adventure with the characters. On the adventure you get to meet all kinds of different creatures and what you think you know about them... you don't. There are twists and turns, lies and schemes, laughter and gasps and everything in between! This book kept me sitting on the edge THE WHOLE TIME!! Can't wait to see what the second book has in store for us!

The Prettiest of Lies was a fun read, a human woman named Giselle runs away from the land of Fairy after being tormented and impregnated by the cruel king. Her daughter gets taken back to Fairy by the King, and Giselle must travel back to Fairy with the help of Locke, a mysterious fae who needs her help to get back to Fairy. I loved the world-building, the MMC and the creatures a long the way. At times, I felt the story dragged or failed the keep my attention, but there are very strong bones to a good series. I’m looking forward to reading the next book!

I had the pleasure of reading an early copy of this book. I can say that I was leary when I started reading this because I thought the FMC was a bit self-absorbed. However, it didn't take long for the plot to draw me in. If you like an intriguing and unique story with Fae, Trolls, Dragons and Mermaids, then this is a book is worth picking up and reading. I was pleased to see the growth in our main FMC and loved the charm of the MMC. I can say the plot twist at the end threw me and I cannot wait to see how things unfold in the next book.

was hooked from page one! The Prettiest of Lies delivers a delicious mix of angst, action, adventure, and just enough romance to keep my heart fluttering (though I wouldn’t have minded a bit more, lol). As the first in the series, it masterfully sets the stage for the lush, unique realms of Fairy, weaving in character backstories with a slow-burn elegance that never feels forced. The world-building is rich, the stakes are high, and the emotional depth hits hard. I’m already craving the next installment!

Love it!

I loved every page of this book. The world-building, the characters, & the storyline are all wonderfully written. My only complaint is that it wasn't long enough because I need more!

I'm not the girl who breaks down every plot point and character in a review, so don't expect that here.

I'm only going to say that I'm very proud of my friend for writing this book and that I absolutely cannot wait for the next installment. The ending is bananas! I cannot believe she did that. I need the next book now, please and thank you.

A smoldering fae fantasy with incredibly unique world building and characters.

The Prettiest of Lies absolutely swept me off my feet from the very first page. Giselle is unlike any FMC I've ever known—strong but vulnerable. This book is an ode to the burden of guilt mothers carry. With richly immsersive prose and fantastic romance, I could NOT put it down. Locke is playful and full of depth. I'm obsessed with him, and so excited for book two!
