Stronghold Doms #3

Mastering Lexie

Rate this book
Lexie grew up with a crush on her brother's best friend, Patrick. He's gorgeous, sexy, controlling and arrogant, and she knows that he wants what amounts to a full-time submissive. So far, none of his girlfriends have ever been able to give him what he needs, but she's sure she's just the woman for him. She keeps pushing the boundaries of their relationship, until he agrees to allow her into the BDSM club that he owns, Stronghold, and train her. She can't help but wonder, will she be able to prove to him that they're worth the risk, or is she going to end broken hearted?

Hands off. That's what Lexie is to Patrick, and not just because she's his best friend's little sister. It's also because her family is practically his, they share all of the same friends, and he's worried about breaking her heart. The sweet little Pixie he's always known has grown up into a gorgeous young woman, one whom he wants to tie up, spank and control. She's passing every test he sets in front of her, but can she convince him that they'll be able to make it work before her brother comes home and Patrick has to ask his best friend if he can date his little sister. Because if she can't, Patrick knows he'll remain silent on the subject forever. It's just not worth tearing apart the people he considers his family, not to mention the family of friends that he's made, if he and Lexie aren't able to meet each other's needs. For now, he's going to make what memories he can while he keeps his promise to train her. He knows he's toeing the line during her training, but he just can't seem to stop himself, and she's starting to break his careful control.

This book contains hot and heavy erotic scenes, spanking, bondage, and BDSM.

I’m loving this series! You keep getting to know them better with each story. Lexie,i adore her! She’s known Patrick since she was a child and has loved him for só long....But Patrick hesitates to act upon his feelings towards her, because, after all,she ís his best friends little sister. Add the fact that he’s a real alpha Dom and his best friend Jake is totally nót into that kind of thing....and the fact that Lexi’s parents have always treated him as one of their own,now that puts a lot of pressure on him! Hearing from both Lexie and Patrick how they feel and why they act the way they do,was great,i absolutely love that!

Book 3 of the Stronghold Doms Series, Mastering Lexi, includes all the delicious Doms (and Domme) we met originally in book 1. This book focuses mainly between Stronghold club owner/Master Patrick and club greeter Lexi – who is also the little sister of Patrick's best friend, Jake, who is serving overseas.

Lexi has had a crush on Patrick since forever, but she’s out of bounds because she’s his best friend’s little sister. She works at Stronghold so Patrick can keep an eye on her (and try to keep her out of trouble) for Jake while he’s deployed, but she isn’t permitted on the ‘floor’ of Stronghold, in the ‘dungeon’ or in any of the ‘private rooms’ until she convinces Patrick to hold a holiday celebration inside the club.

But all the beautiful submissive’s we’ve come to know and love since book 1 step in to help things along, led by nosy Angel. Angel’s very close friend (irking her Dom Adam) and sadist Dom, Michael (whom Angel calls Pretty Boy – except for when they’re in the club – respecting the Doms/Dommes and all…not that she listens and gets ‘taken in hand’ for being sassy by Adam) arranges Lexi’s first ‘scene’ down in the public dungeon – where Patrick’s hand is finally forced. None of the other Doms of Stronghold would ever agree to ‘scene’ with Lexi because they all know her brother and think of her as sort of like a kid sister. And they all act like over-protective big brothers. Once Lexi’s ‘scene’ with Michael is finally over, Patrick steps in to provide the intimacy of aftercare. Things heat up from here, although there are a few setbacks when fiery little Lexi gets annoyed.

Although this book is part of the series, it can be read as a stand-alone with a HAE – but then you’ll miss out on getting to know all the individual personalities of the whole group. This one, by far, is my favorite. Master Patrick’s, and Lexi’s (whom he affectionately calls Pixie) coupling is more along the lines of what a Master/slave dynamic entails. So if you have a problem with a 24/7, M/s relationship, you may not enjoy this book. I highly recommend reading this series from book 1. You’ll be glad you did. And for all of those one and two star reviews I read for Sassy Submissive – more fool you – you should have kept reading to discover the diversity of all the Doms (and Domme) of Stronghold. As I’ve stated before, every Dom/Domme is different, and their interaction and developing relationship with their submissive/slave is always unique. Just like every vanilla relationship is different, so are ones involving BDSM. As I have already noted in the previous books in the series, there are also editing issues with this one, but I have found I can overlook them now.

Loved this read! Lexie grew up with Patrick, having a crush on her brother’s best friend for years. She knows he is looking for a full-time submissive and believes she is just the woman who can give him that. He finally agrees to allow her into his club Stronghold and train her, but will he break her heart? Beautiful story with plenty of drama and emotion. I loved the characters and the story had me hooked from beginning to end. Great read!

The author has me rooting for both sides in a complicated relationship.

Alexis has always had a thing about her brother's best friend. She's done a lot to get him to accept the fact that she grew up. Read to see some of the interesting things she does to reach her goal.

I love Lexie, I tolerate Patrick, I don’t like the dynamic but I loved the smut. Right up my alley but a little too much at times.

Yes! Oh my word, finally a BDSM book that addresses some real life kink issues

Not normally how I'd start a review but this has a couple of the most honest, and therefore best, kink scenes ever. The first is a malfunction with a too small butt plug and no panties, the other was reading the contract and subsequent negotiations.

No panties is a big thing with the Doms in most books, and the first thing that ALWAYS pops into my head is - that's all well and good, but what about when she's on her period? I get irritated how things like periods and other bodily functions seem to not happen to the heroine in so many erotic and BDSM books (you know, the ones where they're tied up for hours on end).

I've got a feeling that Golden Angel is on the same wavelength as me. Not only did the heroine draw the line at butt plugs when away from her Dom and no panties at all times, but it was also mentioned how this didn't count when she was on her period or ill. It's touches like that which turn an o.k. read into a really good read.

Lexie and Patrick's story is just as hot as you would imagine, if you've read either of the two previous Stronghold books, and just as angst ridden. They are both strong characters, yet Lexie was able to submit really well to Patrick, with his control freak tenancies. The book is written third person and clearly swaps mid-scene, in a way that allows you to know who's POV you are reading. It also meant that during a play/BDSM scene I felt connected to both characters, could understand their decisions and feel their emotions.

I loved how even when she was submitting Lexie still came across as a very strong woman. She was choosing to obey and got incredible pleasure from knowing she was pleasing Patrick. There were times when I felt a situation was unfair/unbalanced until we got Lexie's pov, where the author's incredible talent managed to totally change my opinion.

The only thing that irritated me was that Lexie took the blame for not allowing Patrick to explain the 'Jake situation'. It was never acknowledged that there had been ample time for Patrick to have discussed both his reasons for holding back and his intentions regarding Jake's reaction. However in a book that took a good 6 hours to read one blip isn't bad at all.

Oh and those teaser epilogues - that little peak of the next couple. Jarad and Leigh anybody? Yes please!

Mastering Lexie
Stronghold Doms Series, Book 3
By: Golden Angel
Narrated by: Roberto Scarlato

First off, I love this series, I have had the pleasure of enjoying several of the “Stronghold
Doms” books and the entire “Venus Rising” series, which I loved too. This is Lexie and Patrick’s story and I loved every word of it. I’ve met Lexie before, in the beginning she worked the front desk at Stronghold, the Kink Club, eager to get her foot in the door and become a member. She is outgoing with a bubbly personality, you can not help but love her. Patrick, a no nonsense alpha Dom is one of the owners and runs the place, Lexie has crushed on him forever, but he is his brothers best friend and thinks of her as his little sister. Does he feel more? Patrick keeps his feelings for Lexie to himself, he did not want to risk his friendship with her brother or the camaraderie with his friends at the club. But lines get crossed when he takes her on as a submissive in training. Can he hold on to his control or will he fall and take a chance on Lexie. I loved how their story plays out, they are so good together and for each other. It is great to see Stronghold crew, subs and Doms again, they are one great group of people. They look out for each other and pitch in when help is needed. It is great how each couple in this book as their unique kink and relationship, Patrick is a bossy master and Lexie loves to be bosses around. Golden Angel, thank you for another great story.

I listened to the audible edition, Roberto Scarlato is terrific narrator and voice performer. He brings these characters to life, gives each their own voice and personality. He does a great job projecting the emotions of the characters and the drama of the story into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen🎧

1⭐️I wasn’t looking forward to this book bc honestly Patrick came off as an overly controlling prick- and I was right. I didn’t gel with this story AT ALL to the point where it was almost a DNF for me. There was no build up from the 2 previous books for me, just angst and the whole story between these two just came off as awkward, pathetic, immature, and no chemistry.
Patrick came off as a controlling prick bc he “managed” Lexi by telling her she wasn’t allowed in his club when there was no logical reason for it. He’s always big on “acting like an adult” but yet he throws his own tantrums too. 🤦‍♀️
I didn’t like how Lexi was the one always putting herself out there (it started to get pathetic too bc she should have walked away with her dignity) but Patrick always left her to flounder after his constant rejection. Just a jerk.
Even though this was a free book (the first three as a set) I won’t be reading any of the others, which is too bad bc I really liked the Dom guys group that was formed here, as well as the subbies girl group.

**Warning: kink**

Good overall

This book is the third in the Stronghold series, but could be read as a standalone. The story of Patrick and Lexie, it delves deeper into the BDSM world than the previous books in the series. It was good overall, but there were a few issues with it. First, after the big blowup at the club, I don't think it was Lexie's responsibility to make amends. He was the Dom and should have maintained better control of himself, he was the one who pushed her away repeatedly while she put herself out there over and over. The Dom's position that she should have showed more respect after she calmed down was hooey, she's the one who was most vulnerable. Then, when she once again puts herself out there to attempt to reconcile, he makes one brief apology and then he's suddenly ready to forget all of his angst and enter into a relationship with her, all because he finally broke down and talked to her brother. And last but not least, this is another book that needs a proofreader. I was glad they finally got their HEA, but would have liked Lexie's character to have been moire taken care of emotionally.

3.5 stars. the book did start to drag towards the end and i noticed i was skimming because i was bored. lexie and patrick were cute together but it always felt like she was chasing after him. i hated that he never did that for her. it always felt like she was slightly more invested then him. also it was always her putting in more effort in their relationship, whether that be making concessions for him or putting aside her own wants for him. i wish it had been more equal

my main issue was that fight between them. i understood her pov and it was really sad that no one supported her. she had to apologize even though she was hurt. idk seemed like an ego thing to me that he wouldn’t apologize to her because he was the dom. the idea that he needs someone’s permission to date her made me feel so angry. her brother doesn’t own her and get to make decisions for me. ugh it made me mad

Really Enjoying This Series

The Stronghold Dom's series has been leading up to this book, which tells Lexie and Patrick's story.

Lexie's older brother (by 8 years) Jake has been Patrick's best friend since they were young boys, and their parents have been closer and more parental to Patrick than his own. Lexie has been the 'little sister' to all the Stronghold Dom's since they've known her and none of them can break that image in order to allow her to pursue her interest in the BDSM lifestyle or her forever crush on Patrick. Even though Patrick is now viewing Lexie in a very different light, he is having serious difficulty in dealing with his changing responses to her. He also feels that he needs to advise Jake, who is in the military on overseas assignment in a wartorn country, that his feelings toward Jake's little sister are changing and he wants to pursue a relationship with her.

This story is quite enjoyable and informational as it addresses many different mindsets and aspects of BDSM relationships as well as the transformation of Lexie from little sister (and brat) to Patrick's love interest.

Addicting story and series!

This is a third story in the Stronghold series. It’s a standalone. Of course, you don’t have to read the other books but you will want to because the characters and their dynamics will entice you to read more about them! These stories are more than just erotic. The scenes are crafted in a way that draws you in. You feel like you are standing on the sidelines in the club or watching the scenes unfold at a movie. The dynamics between Patrick and Lexie is a rollercoaster of emotions. These two are perfect for each other but one of them is fighting it and the other is learning exactly what it means to be in the lifestyle. Patrick is an Alpha, Alpha Dom. Meaning he is uber controlled. Lexie is definitely a sassy submissive that wiggles under the tight rein that controls Patrick. There’s a lot of story here and it has a lot of feels. Just when you think everything is going to move forward they take a few steps back. Of course, the BDSM scenes are scorching hot! I love that there is an HEA for these two!

I was not disappointed like I was in On His Knees. This book kept my interest the whole time. I loved the struggle between Lexie and Patrick. Normally I don't like this kind of struggle when I am reading, but this book was different. Golden Angel has great character development in each book. The kinks are so different. You get more of an insight into the BDSM world. I think I've said this in all of my reviews that the author must be into the scene because she writes them like each kink scene was from a personal experience. The way she knows the different types of kinks and DOMs. In the each book the main DOM has a different kink and Patrick's kink is wanting a submissive 24/7. When I read about Patrick's kinks in the previous book it didn't sound interesting but once Patrick was the main character I was intrigued.

I can't wait to read the next book.

This book should not be read as a stand alone. To fully enjoy the struggle between the characters you need to read the whole series first.

Lexi knew she needed the night with the girls, to help her work through Patrick rejecting her and help her find a solution. The girls wonder about her going to the club now she quit, but Lexi knows it won’t work, all the doms are intimidated by the men. But Angel knows someone that won’t be bothered by them and has membership.
With Lexi no longer working at Stronghold he thought it would be easier, but she got help and showed up with Michael to scene at the club, he had to follow his own rules and his only option was to oversee them as a new couple.
Watching Lexi, every reaction she had could have been for him. With the scene ending he didn’t know if Lexi knew it was him holding her, but he was taking over the aftercare. Patrick knew Lexi enjoyed the scene and wouldn’t stop there, he’s only solution would be to train Lexi, he could see if she would handle the 24/7 type of relationship he wanted and could explain things to Jake when he got back, and ask about dating her, if she handle what he wanted. After waiting so long will Lexi finally get what she wants.

Whooo boy, where to start with Patrick and Lexie....this is very much a push and pull story - Lexie pushes her boundaries, Patrick pulls her back. He is wonderfully protective of her, attracted to her, and won't touch her without her brother (his best friend) giving his permission. This makes for one heck of a wild ride that is not only a fabulous read but one that sucks you straight into the heart of things. I didn't want to put it down once I started (I read all eight books in the series in six days, that's how addictive they are!)
There is some seriously hot sex in Mastering Lexie, and this pair is one of my faves. The chemistry between Lex and Patrick is electric, and the battle between them is both amusing and tugs your heart. The sex however will knock any form of underwear clean off your person.
Highly recommended (as is the rest of the series)

Have you started reading "The Stronghold Doms" yet? If not, you have no idea what your missing. Golden Angel has given us a down to earth, personable circle of friends with a BDSM club setting and we get to know them a little more personally. The dynamics between Lexie and Patrick took me through a plethora of feelings and emotions. Not just the sexual chemistry, because that in itself was HOTTER than blue blazes, but their personality quirks when together made me laugh, got me frustrated, sometimes indignant, some times warm and fuzzy. The storyline just felt like you actually knew these characters and were a part of the internal drama they were going through. If you haven't read any of these books yet, by all means, grab the first one for yourself. You'll be hooked like the rest of us as soon as you do.

This book is super sexy and intense. This story for Lexie and Patrick has been a long time coming! I really struggled with whose side I was on in this story. I do believe that Patrick was being a bit too fuddy duddy with the who situation at the same time Lexie was being a big brat at times.

I really loved when Andrew came and gave her a bit of tough love! I love how alpha Patrick is. One of my favorite scenes is actually the negotiation scene. Not super sexy but it definitely shows two people that want to try a relationship out for size! I also loved the conversation between Jake and Patrick! Golden Angle brings us a a pull our hair out and scream at the characters to figure it out story! Loved loved loved!

I’m not much on writing reviews, but I absolutely adored this book. The relationship between Lexie and Patrick that started when they were children just grew and grew. Although Patrick is 8 years older than Lexie, Lexie knows he is the man for her. Patrick knows he loves Lexie but denies his feelings for fear his best friend, Lexie’s brother Jake, won’t approve. Lexie does everything she can to prove her submission and love for Patrick and slowly wears him down. This is a hot, steamy, beautiful story that touched the heart and soul of me. This book (as well as the whole Stronghold series) is a must read.

The fourth book in the Stronghold series. You can read it as a stand alone, but you will get more enjoyment if you read at least the first book.

I loved Lexie from the start so i was looking forward to reading her story. I love how spunky and full of life she and how she goes after what she wants. It was wonderful to see her journey into submission and her joy. She also grows up in the book.

It was quite funny to see how patricks struggles with his feeling and how lexie is testing his patience, but it was heartwarming to see how you took care of her.

A wonderful read.

I love this series! Book can be read as stand-alone, but there are many secondary characters from the previous books. Told in dual POV with a HEA for this couple. Lexie did some growing up in this book and realized her actions affect more than just herself. Patrick stopped allowing Lexie to push their relationship timeline. I highly recommend reading the Venus Rising series first and then the Stronghold series. All of the secondary characters are a friend group that are in each of the books, I love reading about them as much as the main couple in each book.

Love this series

Golden Angel has done it again. Lexie and Patrick are a couple that sizzles. There was such smart dialogue and the journey of getting together kept me riveted through the entire book. Roberto Scarlato did an amazing job with the narration. i’d love this book the first tome I read it but hearing the words just gave it additional dimensions. It was also fun to see the Stronghold gang from the previous book. This book reads well as a stand alone but I urge you to read the whole series. You won’t be disappointed. I received this audiobook through a newsletter giveaway.

A Great Story for Stronghold...

I have really enjoyed reading Lexie’s story in this series as has teased and taunted Patrick who she has had a complete crush on since the first book.
I had to admire Patrick who has known Lexie most of his life as his best friends little sister but his feelings over time has obviously changed but wishes to hold out to ask his best friend about dating Lexie..
I loved all the characters and friendships in this series and def want to read more in this series..

Patrick e Lexie

Unbelievably hot and funny!
Starting with The Venus School (Venus Rising Boxset) and continuing with all the Stronghold books you’ll get to meet all the Stronghold friends and their separate love stories. They are all delightful, romantic, terribly funny and hot, hot, hot! A thorough insight to the different aspects of the BDSM lifestyle, based on trust and caring for each other. I just had to read them all, one after the other, couldn’t put them down and had a super wonderful time doing it. I can’t tell you which one I prefer, so I put this review out on all of them.
Highly recommended!

What can i say?

I'm at a loss... This kind of kink is not my thing and yet i find myself odly driven to read all the books. It may be because Golden Angel does such a great job at building the caracthers that we end up loving them like they are part of our family and she always takes great care to show all the flaws and qualities of the human heart. Or because some of the descriptions are of the chart steamy even to someone like me.

When I saw the cover of this story I just had to have it in my hot little hands to read it. I didnt stop to see if it was part of a series. While I was introduced to Lexi and Patrick I was able to get to know some of the other characters that had coupled up and now I want to know their story as well. I gotta say that either the author does her homework and research really well or she is in the lifestyle. I love when I can read a book and feel like the author knows what they are talking about.
