I’ve been humming and harring about what to rate this book, it’s been a difficult one to decide.
The three D’s: Dacian, Denton & Drayce are vigilantes. Trained from a very young age they are raised to take care of the bad guys that the justice system fails to capture. Think Dexter but hotter. I loved this aspect of the book. I’m a sucker for a vigilante and I loved the idea of the organisation and the fun fair. I would love to know more about this in depth.
Please check all trigger warnings before reading this book it’s not for the faint hearted. It contains lots of violence and gore which I enjoyed. The guys are very unhinged and morally grey to say the least. I loved their different personalities.
Unfortunately the part I didn’t like related to the FMC ‘cookie’. Without giving spoilers I liked her back story and how she ended up with the guys. I enjoyed the flashback chapters and piecing it all together leading to the finale. However, I felt the finale was almost anti-climatic and I would’ve liked more details about what was going on and who was doing it. I love a reverse harem so I was excited to see how the relationship between the D’s & Cookie was going to work but it irritated me how they constantly treated her like a little innocent girl when she had definitely proven herself to be willing and capable. I do enjoy spice but I wasn’t a fan of the spiciest chapter in this book. If you like gore & spice then this will be for you.
Overall I think I would rate this as a 4 based on the thriller side because I did really enjoy that concept but I didn’t particularly enjoy the romance due to personal preference. I definitely recommend if you like violence, gore and spice.
I love the 3 D’s. They are morraly grey dark and unhinged and ruthless. This arc kept me hooked from the first page. It is a very short novella, only 155 pages that I finished very quickly. This book gives you everything that you need it is fast paced, unhinged, dark and spicy with 3 hot men.
Firstly thankyou to beth at wings and words community and the author for allowing me to be part of the arc team for this book.
Loved the storyline and the overall message to the book. There were a couple of sentences/descriptions in the book that made me cringe (and it wasnt the torture scenes)
The torture scenes were very well detailed gory and deliciously dark, I personally would of liked more of them and also more background into kelsies mums story, but maybe that will be for another book? 🙏 (hint hint Helen lol)
Overall it was a great, quick read, but be sure to check your triggers.
Well well well! The queen of smut has outdone herself!
The 3 D’s are D-lelicious!
Meet Denton - Death handler, Drayce - Devastation (torture) & Dacian - Destruction! Together they make the infamous 3 D’s. Trained all their lives to hunt people that deserve to be unalived!
One day the happen to come across a young girl running away from someone in a field, so they take her under their wings and vow to protect her.
So you don’t just have 1 “touch her and die” MMC - you have 3! Did I say they were delicious? 🤤
The action starts from chapter 1 and doesn’t let up all the way through the book. Even the dedication before the first chapter had me hooked!
This devilish book is multi POV (4) the 3 D’s and Kelsie the FMC. The story flits between present day and the back stories of the characters - it tells you at the beginning of every chapter what timeline you are reading about so it doesn’t get complicated or confusing.
There are lines throughout the book that will have you flapping your feet and giggling at. For example the author manages to get “no wonder we would all choose the bear” phrase that was recently all over social media.
There was also one phrase in particular that really summed up the whole energy of the book and it was beautifully written. “We will always stand in front of you when you need us to be your shield. By your side when you want us to hold your hand, and behind you when you discover how powerful your truly fucking are”.
The smut scenes in this book are fanny drippingly good! Especially when the 3’s get to finally have her, and you get it from all 4 perspectives!!
But this book isn’t just smut - it also has a solid plot with twists and turns and lots of raw emotional trauma. **CHECK YOUR TRIGGER WARNINGS**
Hunting You is a wild ride from the very first page — fast-paced, twisted, and impossible to look away from. At only 155 pages, it packs a punch: murder, mystery, spice, and a storyline that keeps you guessing right up until the end.
The infamous Three D’s — Denton, Dacian, and Drayne — are everything you want in dark romance antiheroes: lethal, tattooed, and dangerously magnetic. They run a family fairground business that doubles as a safe haven for the vulnerable, and their fierce protectiveness over Kelsie (Cookie) adds an emotional layer that balances the brutality. Kelsie’s growth throughout the book — from broken and guarded to strong and self-assured — is beautifully written, and her connection with the three men is sizzling with both tenderness and intensity.
The pacing never lets up; it’s one of those stories where you tell yourself “just one more chapter” and suddenly it’s 2 a.m. The darker themes are handled with grit and care, and while some parts are definitely uncomfortable, they fit the story’s tone perfectly. The multiple timelines and epilogues add depth, rounding out the characters’ backstories and making you fall for them even more.
If you love your romance dark, intense, and dripping with heat, this novella delivers in spades. I only wish it had been a little longer — I wasn’t ready to let these characters go. Overall, a thrilling and addictive read that proves Helen Johnston knows exactly how to keep readers hooked from start to finish.
I don’t want to give anything away, so if I’m vague then that’s why 😉🤐
“Hunting You" is a spine-chilling dark erotic thriller that grips you from the very first page. Helen Johnston weaves a tale filled with tension, mystery, and a mesmerizing exploration of fear and desire. The book, which introduces us to three malevolent figures… Denton, Dacian, and Drayce…. these three set the stage for an intense read.
The opening lines cast a chilling air over the story, inviting you into a world where shadows come alive, and danger is lurking just out of sight. The allure of the characters gives out a blend of fascination and dread, as they embody the very essence of terror. Their names alone are associated with death and destruction! You can almost feel the characters’ intentions creeping beneath your skin, creating a tension that runs throughout the book.
This book does not shy away from unsettling encounters and disturbing themes, making it a challenging read for some.
The pacing of "Hunting You" is relentless. Each chapter pulls you deeper into the abyss, creating a sense of urgency that is hard to shake off. The interplay between the characters is both electrifying and terrifying. Their actions are unpredictable, making for a thrilling ride that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
If you are ready to confront the darker side of romance and enjoy a gripping thriller that doesn’t pull any punches, this book may be for you.
Just be prepared it’s not for the faint of heart. 😉
I enjoyed this book. The relationship between Kelsie and the three D’s was both heartwarming and hot. I need some Dacian in real life 🥵
The plot was interesting, I liked the travelling fair aspect and would have liked to have seen more of that. I didn’t really understand how or why a travelling fair ended up being a front for hitmen, but the way the two dads were described really portrayed how controlling they were.
The spice was okay, but I would have preferred less murder and more spice I think, especially for an erotic horror novella.
I typically rate Helen’s writing super high because her books are fire, but this fell a little flat for me but I don’t think it’s just 3 stars, I think more like 3.75⭐️. The pacing of the book was very good, and I loved the different time jumps. Such a fun way of writing. I do think though that the writing itself felt rushed. It could have benefitted from a bit more time spent.
Don’t let this put you off though. It was an enjoyable read and loads of people have loved on this book so it’s probably just a me thing and I accept that. I will always support Helen and her books and I will be reading more from her.

I absolutely devoured Hunting You by Helen Johnston. I picked it up thinking I’d read a few chapters before bed, and next thing I knew it was 2 am and I was still going. It’s that kind of book.
The story pulls you in instantly — tense, atmospheric, and full of that nagging, creeping feeling of “something’s not quite right.” Helen has such a natural way of writing that makes everything feel real, from the dialogue to the emotions simmering under the surface. I could feel the characters’ fear, confusion, and desperation. It’s so immersive.
And the twists… wow. Just when I thought I had a handle on what was happening, she flipped it completely on me — in the best way possible. It’s clever without ever feeling forced, and the pacing is spot-on all the way through.
This is easily one of the best thrillers I’ve read in a long time. Helen Johnston’s writing is sharp, confident, and full of heart. I’ll be recommending this one to everyone I know who loves a good page-turner. Can’t wait to see what she writes next!
Where are the 3 D’s in my life?! Yes please… to all 3, move aside Cookie. This was a great palette cleanser that kept me hooked from start to finish. I really liked how this was written, the popping back and forth of the timelines was not confusing and were in great little chunks, really helping to build Cookie’s (Kelsie) backstory. I like Cookie as she knows what she wanted and she went after it in the end. Loved the pace of this book, the smut and all the D:s, Denton, Dacian and Drayce. Everyone needs a little Death, Destruction and Devastation in their lives! Thank you Helen Johnston and Wings & Words for my chance to read this in advance.
I received this arc copy to read and review. I would like to thank the author for sending it and sharing their work with us. I found the story to fulfil part of my fanfiction dreams of being wanted by so many men, tall, strong and with a dangerous nature yet softness towards our fmc. I did feel some chapters were longer than needed and some chapters were too short (but thats just because I was enjoying them). Overall it’s a smutty read with its own unique climax compared to other dark romances I’ve read. So if you’re looking for something a bit dark and not too long then this isn’t a bad option to read in between books.
wow, Hunting you is a very intense morally grey, why choose because they like to share. that is very dark romance. I absolutely loved you got the prospective of everyone in the book. and how deliciously short it was. but please read triggers before starting this book.
Wow, I’m speechless! This is a short novella, but it seriously packs a bunch! It had me hooked from the first page and I read it in one sitting. It is unhinged, twisted and absolutely lovely at the same time. We really love our three D’s 🫶🏻 I love the why choose trope and this one really hit the spot! Thank you so much to Wings & Words and Helen Johnston for this arc!!
I give it 4.85 ⭐️ It is a truly captivating read. From the very first page, you’re thrown straight into the action, and the pace never lets up. The book is exciting, intense, and really well written. It is one of those stories where you think, just one more chapter and suddenly it’s the middle of the night.
I especially fell for the three D’s, the main characters. They’re intriguing, well-built, tattooed, dangerous, and absolutely amazing.
This review is completely voluntary.
Thank you so much Helen and Wings & Words community for letting me be a part of the team.❤️🌺
oh my god i absolutely loved this book it had me hooked from the get go I love the way the 3 is are so possessive and how fiery the fmc is i will definitely be recommending this and for sure will be reading some more Helen Johnston books in the future hats of to you Helen amazing work

loved reading this, it had me laughing my head off at some points and screaming at the kindle at other points. i found it to be a fast paced book which was definately what i needed 😊 if only the 3 d's were real think we'd all pay for abit of them. my fave quote from the book is "if you keep eyeballing at her i will remove them" talk about being feral for someone damn....so if your looking for a whychoose EROTIC fast paced book then RUN dont walk and read this brilliant book.
Meet the 3 D's morraly grey dark and unhinged and ruthless (just how i like my men!) But only for 1 woman their Cookie . This is a short novella (155 pages) what keeps you hooked from page one ,multiple POV 's which i really loved , the story is absolutely addictive and spicy and more!! . The epiloge gives this brilliant book the great ending it deserves. This novella has all you need it is fast passed , unhinged, dark, spicy ,3 hot men but most off all a amazing story line!!!
this book was so good. there was action and a lot of spice and the storyline was so awesome I couldn't put the book down. I can't remember when I read I book so fast.
I was lucky enough to read this as an ARC and OMG it’s amazing!!! There’s no part of it that you are bored it’s full of adventure and action. You do want to bang the the three D’s heads together at points though! See how they helped Kelcie grow was lovely and you can see straight away how much they cared for her. It’s a definite must read!
Well, that just about blew my socks off! Helen Johnston's Hunting You comes at you with the speed of stealth jet!
Firstly, this book is dark, like really dark. You will definitely need to check your trigger warnings before reading.
This was an arc read from Helen Johnston herself and Wings and Words.
Our MMC's, Denton, Draycott, and Dacian, or the Three D' as they are known (and not just because of their names, let me tell you 😉 🥵). These guys are gorgeous, stacked, extremely protective, and so morally grey they are close to pitch black!
Kelsie, or Cookie as she is referred to as by our Three D's, is a damaged but single-minded FMC, who is still holding on to her V card in the hopes the Three D's will help rid her of it.
I really enjoyed Hunting You. It was very different to my usual reads, and I didn't mind that. I do enjoy dark romance, but this was a few steps above that, to the level of dark erotica. Probably more splatterpunk. My only gripe is that I wish it was longer. I wanted to find out more about the three MMC's and would have like Cookie's backstory to have more of an impact.
I will absolutely be moving on to Helen's other books.
Wow what an absolutely amazing book, I loved reading this so much it had me smiling through especially the way it ended, I loved the three D’s and I couldn’t choose between them as they come as a package and you don’t have a choice in that which made the relationship between them and Kelsie special and beautifully written the passion and love that they feel made me swoon and smile. I admire Kelsie as she is a really strong woman and takes on everything with strength and grace, and the way her three D’s always have her back was so beautiful and I loved reading what they would do for her. Helen I think you are a truly talented writer and will never stop recommending and talking about this book.
Straight up, I'm always honest in my reviews. this was the first time I've read anything remotely like this, thought let's dip my toe in, give it a go. You know what, I didn't dislike a minute of reading this book!
It be short but it's jam packed full of every characters ruminations, the wants, the angst, the strops from FMC... if you're in to character depth or built plot this has it but not like obviously a 500 page book would.
id say DEFFO check out the triggers on this one and admittedly I was side eyeing myself like "okay, this isn't where your line is, carry on" 😆🙌 So thank you to Helen and to Wings & Words for introducing me to something new! for that I'll be forever grateful 🙌
more like 4.5 stars only reason its not a 5 star is I WANTED MORE.
damn this book is good. the 3 Ds can come and make me theirs all they like. I love that they are bad boys but under all that they are loyal to each other and love HER. there is plot behind the desire which makes this book amazing
check your triggers. I haven't had anything trigger me but check him.
Thank you to Helen Johnston and the Wings & Words community for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC for this book.
I did enjoy the book, especially the relationships between Kelsie and the 3 MMCs. I would have preferred a higher ratio of smut/spice to violence and murder but that’s a personal preference and probably more of a mood I have been in for dark romance lately.
I really enjoyed the anti-hero aspect, where the MMCs are clearly unhinged murderers with a bloodlust - but they are taking out bad people. How much the enjoy taking them out may not be to everyone’s taste but I enjoyed it!
I didn’t understand some of the ending of the book (no spoilers here!) but the themes of found family and exploring nature vs nurture made it feel deeper in parts. Some elements are common across other books in the genre, so it made it easier to follow.
Overall I rated this 3-stars!

Oh Helen you got me hooked on this book not only was there naughty desires from the three Ds but also from cookie who has been through a lot as a child being found by the three Ds they instinctively protect her and they don’t let no other guys touch her why because she is their cookie who they spoil rotten there is nothing the three Ds won’t do for cookie ..I loved the details of the torture they inflict and his desires and God damn holy fire was this book spicy🔥🔥🔥 I also loved nanna and her caravan and how she puts the boys in place but I would advise read the triggers because it might not be your cup of tea me however I loved it ..the naughty cookie needs a spanking and after reading this book so do I 👀👀🤓
OMG!! I loved this from start to finish. the way the boys just love their "cookie" is just amazing. the dedication they all have with each other just out of this world.
check triggers some include: kidnap murder torture mutilation stalking and more
the three Ds find a beaten 16 yr old and take her in. they dont do gentle they were brought up differently but with kelsie its different. this story takes us through the past and present and tells us what happened to the guys and Cookie. I love the relationship ship they formed and how possessive they were. its murderous and bloody and the spice is def spicing.
I went into this completely blind (sold on the cover to be honest!) and I was NOT disappointed AT ALL!! One of my favourite things was the style of writing- each chapter was a different characters view and they were all relatively short so it felt like you were reading all views at the same time - i really enjoyed this style a lot! the plot is full of intrigued, lust, morally black men who are totally in love and an FMC you fall in love with- sweet, innocent, full of desire with a darkness to her that when unleashed matches those of her morally black men. her background is well thought out and how its all discovered ties the story together beautifully. im looking forward to more by this author and have already recommended it!!
This book had me hooked from the very first page! I love that there are multiple main characters and also two (yes two!) timelines! There are FOUR! Points of view in the book and they all line up perfectly! Please be aware of the trigger warnings in this book! But be prepared for some intense moments and my goodness some spice!!
I would like to say thank you to the author Helen for allowing me the privilege of arc reading this book. I would also like to thank the Beth and the rest of the Wings and words Arc community for having me in the community. So I can read more books from different authors with their help and support it has made the process of arc reading so much easier and more enjoyable.
My thoughts on this book. This book was well written and I enjoyed the way the mmc had a job of ending terrible people making them suffer and the 3 mmc’s were amazing with their protective nature of the fmc and I loved how kind the fmc was to pretty much everyone except the ones who didn’t deserve it and then we saw her more fierce and unexpected side. The reason for my lower star rating of this book is not because I didn’t enjoy it because I did. I also definitely believe that you should absolutely read this book. My reason for not completely loving it was because of the fact I think the age of the fmc when the mmc first started seeing her in a romantic way was a little too taboo and uncomfy but I think that has more to do with my preferences than anything else. But other than that and maybe the fmc not sticking up enough for herself against the Mmc’s as often as she should. This book was well thought out and written and definitely worth reading it was a short nice paced read that captured my interest so much so that I read the whole book in one night.
