Life should be good for James Hardy. His business is thriving, his brothers are settled, and he's desperately in love with his girlfriend, Mandy. Unfortunately, growing pains are straining his relationship, and when a misunderstanding overlaps with a catastrophic explosion at a charity event, Mandy’s life is left hanging in the balance. The doctor says she’ll recover, and James is ready to do what is necessary to make sure their lives stay intertwined. Her recovery is difficult, and long, and it’s only compounded by a mixture of medication and misunderstandings, both of which spin things dangerously out of control. James is determined to get their relationship back on track, but the mystery of who targeted her for elimination – and the dreams that subsequently plague him – have the eldest Hardy brother in a tailspin. James promises to keep Mandy safe, but the enemy targeting them is obsessed – and relentless. Between his sister’s meddling, Mandy’s doubts, and James’ overwhelming worries, things are coming to a head. James is ready to offer a happily ever after, but he needs to solve a mystery and keep his beloved safe if he’s going to get that chance. Will this couple get a chance to realize their dreams, or will an unseen force stop them before they get a chance to embrace their future?
This was probably my favorite of the series so far. I thought the action was great, the issues seemed realistic, the relationship drama was relevant and realistic. I still love James and Mandy. I must admit Mandy is starting to annoy me just a little, but James is a dream.
James' sister Ally is really annoying! I am not looking forward to her book!
Mandy and James are living together above his security company he owns with his brothers and unfortunately James has forgotten he promised to escort Mandy to one of the work functions at the courthouse for the Judge, for whom she works.
Mandy attends without him and realizing he has made a mistake, James hurriedly dresses and attends as well. As they leave, the couple decides to go back in James’s truck and leave Mandy’s car - and as she turns to get into the truck, her car explodes. When James shakes himself out of the daze from the blast, he is horrified to realize he can’t find his beloved Mandy and begins crawling around the truck to find her in the ground covered in glass and in debris.
Thankfully someone from inside the courthouse reception heard the car explosion and called 911, so an ambulance arrived - and once the attendants were able to get James to release Mandy (he was holding her in his arms) and loading James in the ambulance as well for his injuries they were taken to the hospital as well.
As the fast pace of the novel continues, it is quite clear that Mandy is being stalked by a murderer but the hidden motive is unclear until the very end and when the villain is unmasked, it is astonishing! And so well done, never suspected. Very well done indeed!
Charming characters, entertaining interactions with family and friends and an absolutely worthwhile read
When Mandy gets gussied up to the nines to attend an event she's been looking forward to for 6 weeks to find James forgot and planned a night in with his brothers, Grady and Finn, things don't start well..
Grady and Finn point out the error of his ways and James gets ready and heads off to join her. Talking Mandy round and enjoying the evening they get set to leave early.
As they debate about who's car to take a bomb goes off under Mandy's car blowing James over and seriously injuring Mandy.
As the couple struggle with their recovery there's one other question in everyone's minds.. who would want to kill Mandy?
They have to work it out before another attempt is made and succeeds..
I prefer Ms Hart's paranormal novels. These don't come across quite as deeply thought out or planned.. the plots seem a little too simplistic.
This book continues my belief that Ms Hart is an excellent storyteller! This book has less fluff than the Maddie Graves or Harper books (which are both fun series) & the story of military vets starting a security company appeals to me, as do the fun & sexy brothers I love getting to know more about them & their significant others. Ally is a bit hard to take but I love Jake joining these great characters & even meeting the Hardy's parents. I've already begun reading the next in the series!
This one definitely kept me on my toes. I had suspicions about the culprit, but the way the story was brought together just worked out the details perfectly. Definitely will keep reading this series.
I like this whole series so much that I’ve read it multiple times. The relationship between James and Mandy, as well as all the family dynamics are sweet, feisty, and funny. And who doesn’t love a happily ever after?
Ongoing scene where she becomes increasingly insecure because of her injuries believes he doesn't love her want her find her attractive goes back to her flat briefly but he's super sweet and attentive and was just trying to not hurt her

A great 4th installment! I just love James and Mandy, and they just shined in this book. There was action from the very beginning--a bomb! Watching James and Mandy deal with the repercussions of that ordeal and the long healing process really added another level to their relationship. Of course, I just loved the ending!
A new character, Jake, is introduced, and he and Ally are certainly eyeing one another--I can't wait to see where that goes! I believe the next book will focus on them, and I'm glad that Jake was introduced first so we have a little background on them.
Grady and Sophie also played more of a role in this book, and I just loved when Sophie met the Hardy parents! Emma and Finn were barely present, must like Grady and Sophie in book 3, and it again just felt a bit odd to me. I understand that you can't give everyone equal "screen time" without the story getting too long or confusing. However, it just feels odd to me when one couple is barely mentioned for no reason.
I love these books. The characters are so much fun and the stories have the right amount of mystery and action as well as romance. I liked that the problem of homeless vets was touched on. We need to remember.
just when all is going well, someone nearly kills Mandy with a car bomb and her lover, James goes ballistic trying to keep Mandy alive. Reread a second time and the story holds up. intense emotions.
Awesome story! Can't wait for the next. Great add to the series! Keeps getting better and better! Love these two together and it was a non stop twist after another!
