Tony Evans’s ‘Generation AI’ is a captivating exploration of AI’s workplace impact, enriched by witty epigraphs. The Dolly Parton quote sparked a smile, recalling David Brent’s humour from 'The Office', while the Groucho Marx quote evoked memories of my late father, whom the author will remember well. Evans’s focus on fostering collaboration between Baby Boomers and Gen Zers for AI adoption and integration deepened my appreciation for both groups. His discussion of transactional versus transformational leadership styles highlights tailored approaches for generational dynamics, while a personal story involving dolphins and swimming clockwise underscores the power of group norms. As a Gen Xer, I embraced working from home 15 years ago, boosting my productivity, so I understand why Gen Zers champion it, although Evans notes Boomers’ concerns about its impact on communication and resilience. The book echoed my reflection that COVID may have impacted Gen Zers’ emotional intelligence, making Boomers’ role in Evans’s “guiding coalition” essential for directing change-management practices to ensure successful AI implementation. 'Generation AI' is an accessible, thought-provoking must-read.
