This is a simple, charming story about a boy who doesn't know how to talk to girls who gets help in courtship from an online community. It's got its clichés (like, for example, the nerdy otaku who gets tongue-tied when a girl is around) but Train_Man's helplessness is charming, and Hermess is sweet, and somehow it all works out.

Increíble, una comedia romántica japonesa en la que no me dan ganas de sopapear al protagonista en cada capítulo. Bueno, en algunos sí. Pero por lo menos se toma la molestia de madurar e ir animándose a ser un poco menos patético en cada capítulo, aunque sea 90% mérito de sus amigos virtuales que lo animan. Supuestamente este manga está basado en hechos reales, y me parece que es verdad, así que en cierto sentido es medio triste que los japoneses sean tan parecidos a la hora de actuar (o de no hacerlo) como lo suelen ser sus personajes. O al revés: el manga está lleno de personajes patéticos (sobre todo cuando hablamos de relaciones intersexuales) justamente porque es muy bueno mostrando cómo son los jóvenes japoneses verdaderamente. Lugares comunes al margen, me resultó muy entretenido y tierno y seguramente me lance a por los otros dos en algún momento.

This is the (supposedly true) story of an otaku in Japan who meets a girl and goes out with a girl.
An otaku is a guy (or girl) who doesn't socialize much. He spends his time on the Internet, playing video games, reading comics, watching movies - that sort of stuff.
By a miracle, he meets a girl and actually asks her out! His internet chat room buddies keep giving him advice and encouragement. He's awkward but she's a little awkward, too.
So far, so good. I'm assuming, since this is more than one volume, there has to be some conflict between the two in this series. Meanwhile, it's nice to root for the underdog who seems to be doing well in volume 1.
This was apparently big in Japan for awhile - there's a movie out there and they made it into a TV series.

Plot: Sebagian besar sejalan dengan novel.
Gambar: Gayanya agak "jadul", tapi oke kok^^.
Penokohan: Sesuai novel.

Ini lebih bagus dari dugaanku! Maksudku-- lebih bagus dari bayanganku mengenai versi adaptasi komiknya. Tiga volume buku ini memaparkan secara (cukup) menyeluruh dari novel Train Man itu sendiri.
Train Man bercerita mengenai seorang (meski sebenarnya tidak begitu otaku, tapi sebut saja sebagai) otaku yang jatuh hati pada seorang gadis cantik. Awal perkenalan mereka hanya berupa kebetulan dari aksi heroik. Sepintas, hubungan itu seakan tidak bisa berlanjut lagi, tapi... yang namanya takdir itu ada, bukan? Sekarang yang diperlukan hanyalah... dorongan keberanian dan semangat! Fight! ╰(▔∀▔)╯
Pertama, sangat menyenangkan melihat perubahan model rambut dari tokoh utama yang membuat saya makin nyaman melihatnya (uhuy). Kedua, para chatters lebih digambarkan dengan baik dan... sial, mangaka-san menghubungkan mereka dengan sangat brilian! Ketiga! Uh--oh-- eng, kurasa saya sedikit kecewa karena ada beberapa bagian yang berbeda dengan novelnya. Saya tahu saya harusnya tidak kecewa. Toh tiap adaptasi memiliki perbedaan dan keunggulan tersendiri ^^.
Saya membiarkan waktu sedikit berlalu sampai saya bisa memberi penilaian yang lebih matang. Jadi yah... ^^ Tiga atau empat bintang? Sebenarnya tiga setengah bintang. Meski begitu-- berhubung penggambaran para chatters sangat mengasyikkan, jadi... harusnya empat bintang. Tapi lagi-lagi, mengingat penggambarannya agak lebay daripada yang ada di imajinasiku, tiga bintang saja untuk sekarang. I'll still stick with the novel! XD

Karena udah puas banget sama versi 'novel'-nya yang berisi kumpulan obrolan dunia maya itu, aku tadinya ga mau baca komik adaptasinya (^ ^;)>
Tapi pendapat dari seorang teman membuatku putar kemudi, ubah haluan~ //ngeengg^^
Dan...gak mengecewakan! Malah penggambaran para penghuni chatting thread itu bener-bener kocak menghibur \^o^/ Aku suka gambarnya~
Untuk romance-nya sendiri, lebih terasa manis di versi 'novel' karena kita ga bisa tau reaksi Hermes yang sesungguhnya. Jadi kepanikan Train Man lebih bikin panik pembaca XD
Kelebihan versi komik ini, 'ketenaran' Train Man di dunia maya lebih terasa ketika ada adegan
Di versi 'novel' juga ada disebut sih, tapi di komik lebih terasa maknyeshh pengaruhnya si Train Man itu (^..^)

This is the first of 3 volumes that tell the real-life story of it's creator. (Evidently this is also a hit movie and television series in Japan.) The story starts on a train, with a geek, a pretty girl, and a drunk guy who start to harass the pretty girl and some other women. Geek boy stands up to the drunk and well, a very sweet and romantic tale develops. Geek boy talks about this incident on the net with a group of strangers who become very involved with how his new relationship develops, giving advice and support. Can't wait to read the next 2 to find out how it ends.

I decided to read this because my manga-crazed friend highly recommended it, and I have to say it's one of the best manga novels I've read. A nerdy blogger saves a charming girl from a drunk on a train, and the internet community gives him advice while following their relationship like an addictive TV show. It's funny and enjoyable especially if you want a break from normal shojo manga.

Densha-san is a nerdy, awkward young guy who saves some women from an attack of a drunk old man in a train. Because of that, the pretty lady (whom our hero likes... a lot) takes notice of him, and a sweet relationship starts. But none of it would happen it it weren't for the little help of an online community!
The netizens are there to support Densha-san and advice him whenever he needs it, and encourage him whenever he needs it, and basically, be happy for him. Every time they advised him, or were getting anxious because of Densha-san I was

Cute and Adorable Story. How a Otaku/Nerd finds love in his life. Liked the way he is so unsure and awkward. The art is very good and suits the theme of the manga. Read the whole stuff with a smile on the face, it's that kind of a book.

I actually really liked this. The art was pretty and fairly unique. The story was very heartwarming and realistic. It was based on a true story after all. I'm looking forward to the next volume!

I decided to read it since I got frustrated of the TV series (I watched I thought it was the movie.) It was. . .well way different, from the TV series, but hey the story was just so good.

This book is one of the funniest Japanese literature that ever crossed my path. It was fresh, relatable, and hilarious (well, it's based on a true story). The subject that really makes everything feels so alive is the netizen. The comments brightened the story. I love how the first love story was written from an male Otaku's point of view. Luv it.

La vida real muchas veces es fuente de inspiración para numerosas historias, y va cobrando vida de la mano del cine, la literatura, los comics y demás medios artísticos. Muy probablemente las reversiones presenten algunas diferencias para profundizar ciertos aspectos, modificar otros, todo al servicio del entretenimiento. También se nos ocurre que suelen tomarse, con este objetivo, hechos despampanantes, superlativos, originales, locos, o extraños. Pero no siempre es así. Muchas veces pequeños hechos, en apariencia instrascendentes o poco seductores, terminan por convertirse en verdaderos fenómenos de masas, tomando varios formatos, y depertando una pasión de multitudes. Tal es el caso de Densha Otoko.
El origen de esta historia es curioso. Sí, se trata de un hecho real, pero salido de un foro japonès. Cómo? Bueno, un pequeño post, un cortito comentario en el sistema de foros japonès llamado 2channel, donde la gente puede dejar opiniones y charlar con otros de forma anónima, se transformó en un fenómeno. Allí, los usuarios pueden escribir sobre lo que quieran con total libertad, por lo que terminan abriéndose muchos temas de debate, muy variados, con miles y miles de comentarios permanentes. En una de esas charlas, uno de los usuarios (un verdadero otaku ponja) contó una experiencia personal que había tenido en un tren: dijo que allí había ayudado a unas señoras y a una bella muchacha de un borracho que las increpaba violentamente. En un arranque espontáneo de valentía, las ayudó y cuidó del agresor. Posteriormente, recibiría un regalo de la chica, en agradecimiento por su valiente intervención.
A partir de ahí, lo que había arrancado como un par de líneas en un gigantesco foro, se convirtió en una auténtica leyenda de internet, que explotaría en cuanto medio pudiera. Día tras días, el otaku salvador, conocido posteriormente en el foro como “El Hombre del Tren” o “El del Tren”, iría contando a otros usuarios –animado y aconsejado por ellos – sus peripecias para vencer su timidez e invitar a salir a la chica del tren, nombrada en el foro como “hermes”, en referncia a la marca del regalo que le había enviado al del tren.
En poco tiempo, la aventura cotidiana de “El del Tren” se transformó en una bola de nieve que atrajo a cada vez más personas. Ante tal repercusión, lo primero que se hizo fue recopilar la historia en un libro, que arrasó en ventas. Tras el libro vino la película, luego el dorama, todo con el título “Densha Otoko”. Como no podía ser de otra manera, también tendría no una sino varias versiones en formato manga. Una de las más exitosas, fidedignas, y sentidas es la que les recomendamos hoy y que pueden conseguir en nuestro local a precio promocional, titulada en castellano como “Otaku in Love” y editada por Glenat. Este manga, de tres tomos, está escrito y dibujado por Hidenori Hara. Fue serializado en la Young Sunday de Shogakukan y publicado originalmente entre Abril y Septiembre de 2005.

Suatu ketika si train man ketemu dengan wanita cantik , kemudian si wanita diganggu sama orang temperamen lalu si train man ini belain si wanita.... Trus mereka tukeran handphone, dan dengan bantuin temen2 maya si train man ini, dia berusaha mendekati si wanita yang dikenal dengan nama Hermes, karena sebagai ucapan terima kasih si wanita ngasi si train man ini gelas hermes... Barulah dimulai usaha train man mengejar hermes dengan bantuan teman "maya"nya.....

Komik pertama yang gue baca setelah beberapa tahun, dapat pinjaman dari dani, dan ternyata lucuuuuuuuuuuuu.. Mungkin karena gue merasa sebagian diri gue ada di train man ini, pemalu, single dan kuper hahahahaa *dusta* dan malu klo ketemu cewek baru... :)
bagus sih, keknya ini masuk dalam Top 3 komik fave gue... Btw komik ini dipinjemin oleh kakak dani dan gue berminat untuk mengoleksinya.. cuma ad 7 buku klo ga salah :)

Based on a true story, Train Man is about the relationship between a nerdy 22-year-old and a young woman he stands up for on the train. Though shy, an internet forum helps him open up to her and take her on a date. The first volume of this series shows strong character development as Train_Man struggles with how to talk with her, how to dress, and how exactly dates work. It's a cute, feel-good story that doesn't shy away from the awkwardness of dating and highlights how easy it is to overthink the mixed messages going out entails.
A lot of people criticize this manga for leaving parts out that the novelization and movie include; I've never seen the movie or read the novel, but this volume stands alone and can be read and understood with no background information on the real-life couple's romance. The artwork is unique and overall enjoyable.

This manga is merely good, but the story behind the manga is one of the best I've heard this year. Not only did Japanese nerds on the internet help a hopeless loner get the girl by becoming a better person; American nerds on the internet found the saga so inspiring that they translated thousands of messages to share it with the English-speaking world. It's a grand cultural feat that could only have happened in our century, and the human connection at the center elevates it over most of the memes I encounter.
If you want to dig into this, I'd recommend both the manga and the original internet thread. I haven't seen the live-action drama, and I can't imagine the story stretching far enough to make a TV series watchable over the course of eleven episodes.

Se que no deberia darle una nota perfecta a una obra que basicamente pone a la raza humana como lo mejor que pudo existir en este planeta (en especial por todos los matices que ello implica) sin embargo no puedo mirar atras y no pensar que esta es una obra perfecta. En solo 3 volumenes nos muestra una romance mucho mejor armado y desarrollado que en obras mas largas. Es una obra que nos muestra lo mejor del ser humano a traves de un foro de internet quienes unen fuerzas para que esta historia de amor sea posible ayudando al protagonista un otaku a salir con la chica
Poco a poco vemos como esta historia deja de ser personal para convertirse en leyenda una historia universal que seguro te enternecera y te devolvera la fe en la raza humana

I was first introduced to Train Man through the Japanese film of the same name. It was an incredibly cute story, and I loved it! This was also incredibly cute. It's nice to see a story that involves romance without sex, where our protagonist is just a good guy, similar to any other shy nerd, who is just trying to figure his stuff out and try to win the girl of his dreams. It's a feel-good story, and I can't wait to see what comes next in the manga :)

Weeding the graphic novel collection and had to sit and read this one. Love the story with a passion, and have read many of the other adaptations, but not this one. Artwork reminded me a bit of Monkey Punch (lupin the III auhtor). Maybe the artist was a student of his at one point...
Anyway, great fun, quick read, and quite enjoyable.
