The Beginnings Duet #2

Inevitable Endings (The Beginnings Duet #2).

Rate this book
The Bratva wept for a ghost while the real monster crawled back to the only thing he couldn’t kill—her.

Deep in the belly of a bunker, beaten but unbroken, the Bratva’s deadliest leader claws his way back from the grave, driven by one thing: her name on the lips of the man who betrayed him.

Isabella has tried to move on. The man who made her feel alive is gone, and the clinic where she hides is the only place she can pretend to forget. But grief has claws. And when whispers of the devil start bleeding through her dreams and clinic walls, she knows that love doesn’t die. It waits. And so do monsters.
Now she stands at the center of a war between bloodlines, haunted by a past that was stolen from her and a future soaked in Bratva blood. The underworld is cracking. The Bratva wants a new king. The world wants a body to bury. But the lie of his death will be the last mercy they’ll ever get.

He’ll string their corpses up like butchered pigs.
And the slaughterhouse isn’t just where they die;
it’s where he makes her his final vow.

* I received this book as een e-arc, but this is my honest opinion.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice rate: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Tropes: maffia boss, found family, high stakes
TW: yes!!!

Review:
Since book one was so addictive, I had to read the second book! And oh my- it did not disappoint! These characters are so strong and the way they interacted - and formed a found family bond - was so beautiful to read. But make no mistake, this book takes on heavy subjects and is filled with tension and angst. I loved how the author built the storyline and had me on the edge of my seat. But GIRL, making me wait soooo long in the beginning… I couldn’t read this fast enough, since each chapter made me even more curious about how this would end. Which brings us to the ending… that was so INSANLY DONE! Perfect in every way!

I would recommend it!

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (3.75 stars)

The first 10% of Inevitable Endings was a bit of a struggle for me. Not so much because it repeated the first book, but because it repeated the same points in slightly different words. There’s a lot of inner monologue early on, which made the pacing feel slow. Around the 25% mark, though, things loosen up, more dialogue, more interaction and more energy.

Isabella, especially at the start, keeps so much of her feelings locked inside that I wanted to crawl into my Kindle and shake her awake. Thankfully, she eventually opens up, especially with Ada, and I really enjoyed seeing those conversations unfold.

I’ll be honest: the first 25% was hard to get through. But somewhere after the halfway point, I was completely invested. By the 50% mark, I couldn’t put it down.

It wasn’t quite what I expected at first, but the ending felt like a truly satisfying conclusion to the story. There are some traumatic events here, and I appreciated that they were eventually addressed openly, deepening the connection between the main characters. The growing bond between them was one of my favorite aspects of the book.

I’m glad I stuck with it. It turned out to be a strong and emotionally rewarding ending to the series.

*I read this book as an ARC*

Ouff, loved this one. Amazing character growth, one of my fave epilogues ever, pure emotion. My only complaint? The spicy scenes. I liked them in the first book, they made sense for me, but I felt like they were a bit too much in the second.

Thank you so much to the author, myla, to send me an ARC of this book, which is the second in the series. (I’m sorry for reviewing this so late) I really enjoyed the first book, but I had a harder time getting through this one. For me personally, it felt like not enough was happening, and the writing was a bit too detailed at times, leaving little room for my own imagination. That’s more about my reading taste than the quality of the book itself, though.

What I do want to say is how impressive it is that the author, being dutch, wrote this entirely in english!! The romance was definitely THERE, i loved their romance storyline, a match made in heaven if you ask me. Oh and the ending was the amazing i wouldn’t change a thing.

Overall, the main storyline just wasn’t completely the right fit for me, but I can see many readers enjoying it! So for me it’s a 3 star read. ✨ overall well done myla for this being your debut duology!! Proud of you

I was lucky enough to be an arc reader after loving the first book so much 😍

First of all, the character development… omg! Isabella was such a vibe and Diable or Aslanov (absolutely love the meaning behind the name Diable) was just as hot as he was in the first book. I did love the way he changed for the better, it melted my heart god damn.
I fear I eat it up every time when two broken characters join to make a whole and this book involves just that 😇😇 But not to mention, how much of an independent queen and bad ass Isabella was in this book.

Myla’s writing is so descriptive and well paced. She is sooo talented and I have loved every second of it!!! Her writing in both books has drawn me in from the start.
Can’t wait for more of her books <3 (in particular Ada’s book plssss)

The beginning of the book was slow for me. It's a dark romance, but very psychological. That made it a bit harder to read, but it was beautifully written, almost poetically. After 25% of the book, there was a lot of action and discovery, and I really got into it! The psychological struggles and the characters' healing together were beautiful! And the ending was truly amazing and exciting! Compared to book 1, Myla has made a huge leap in her writing style and story structure. I really enjoyed the book and want to thank Myla for the ARC review!

Wow. Just wow. This book was incredible. The perfect wrap up for this duet. I was sooo impatient for this book after reading book 1 and I must say, the wait was worth it. I felt all the emotions while reading this. I felt so much heartbreak and pain throughout this book but it just made the ending that much sweeter. Myla, you truly know how to write a book. As sad as I am that this is the end to this duet, I know this story will stick with me for a long long time. I love you forever Isabella and Aslanov 🥺

I loved book one! And with the ending it had I couldn't wait to dive into this book! While I needed to get back into the story a bit when I started reading, after a few chapters I was fully invested and couldn't put the book down!

When you think the characters couldn't get any better, Myla thought hold my wine and see what I can do. There was a lot of development in book one, but in this one it got even better! The way Myla wrote about the feelings and the choices Isabella and Aslanov made throughout the book kept me on edge and just kept me reading. I flew through the book and I was a little sad when the ending came to soon.

It is still hard to believe that this series is the debut serie of Myla Carbo. She knows how to develop a great storyline, how to mix between action and spicy and she knows well how to put some characterdevelopment between the pages.

I can't wait to see what else Myla has in store for us!

Myla Carbo thank you so much for this ARC to read and review.

I was an ARC reader for this book, and WOW — Inevitable Endings completely blew me away!

From the very first page, I was hooked. The plot twists? Jaw-dropping. Just when I thought I had things figured out, the story would take another sharp, clever turn that kept me turning pages late into the night. This is one of those mafia romances that doesn’t just rely on the drama — it earns it with smart writing and layered storytelling.

The side characters absolutely brought this world to life. Every single one had depth and personality, but I have to give a special shoutout to Sawyer, hilarious and sweet in the best possible way. I also adored Ada! I need a book for Ada and Dominik PLEASE.

And the ending? Chef’s kiss. Perfectly satisfying and emotionally rich without being predictable. It tied everything together in such a powerful way, and I found myself re-reading the last chapter over and over LOL

The writing style is incredibly immersive and sharp, especially for a younger author.

If you love twisty mafia plots with unforgettable side characters and writing that packs a punch — Inevitable Endings is an absolute must-read. I’ll be thinking about this one for a long timeee

I’m absolutely thrilled to be one of the first readers to experience this book! Huge thanks to Myla for allowing me to be an ARC reader!🩷

Wow. Just wow. This story completely blew me away. It dives deep into the psychological layers, blending a dark mafia romance with the intensity of a thriller. It’s raw, emotional, and so darkly captivating. It took me on a rollercoaster of feelings I wasn’t prepared for.

The narrative flows like a movie, keeping you constantly on the edge of your seat. And the twists? I did not see that coming!! I need some recovery after this book. Pure emotional damage (in the best possible way)!

An unforgettable, gripping read that I’ll be thinking about for a long time✨

‘bloodlines don't define who you are. choices do.’

review💭
i can’t quite explain how but aslanov and isabella felt like different characters from book 1, but in the best way possible. the growth and development of isabella’s character was so amazing. she was always a strong and independent person but in this book her determination and strength really made her come across much more bolder and braver. seeing aslanov is such a different way as we did in book 1 it was refreshing just to see another side of him and how hard he would fight to protect isabella was everything. the title of this book is right and these two are an inevitable. the story was a lot different as well, it was more about moving on and making a future, it was written so well and myla did such a great job at making the reader feel so involved with the book. i could truly feel their pain, see the settings and imagine how it looks. this was a really good conclusion to the duet and i was left feeling so satisfied and happy with it. i loved the rawness of it all and the complexity of the psychological aspect of it all.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Inevitable Endings by Myla Carbo and…HELLO???? EXCUSE THE ACTUAL FUCK OUT OF ME. Somebody come collect my soul because it has LEFT THE CHAT. I think just found a new favourite dark mafia romance book.

The first book was good but THIS??? THIS??? A MASTERPIECE. The way I inhaled it like oxygen. The short chapters?? Bingeable as FUCK. I blinked and suddenly I hadn’t moved in hours. I am feral.

The high stakes. The tension. The plot twists. I didn’t see a single one coming. My jaw? On the floor. My chest? Tight. My brain? Scrambled eggs. Myla Carbo really said “I’ll ruin you” and succeeded.

I was genuinely fascinated by the way the hierarchy and inner workings of the mafia were written. Everything was so layered, so detailed, so real. You can tell the amount of research Myla poured into this because every Bratva detail felt authentic, sharp and impossible to look away from. And the way she builds anticipation? It’s criminal, actually.

The man. The myth. The DEVIL. Aslanov…the man that you are. He is absolutely terrifying. He is unstoppable. He is blood and shadows personified. He was shaped into a cruel, unflinching machine by blood and brutality yet somehow against every odd stacked against him he became a better man, one who finally allowed himself to want, to love and to hope.

This ruthless Bratva king is out here slaughtering men like he’s swatting flies AND THEN THIS SAME MAN BUILDS HER A LIBRARY because she mentioned it once. Put me in witness protection because I cannot survive another man like Aslanov🙄🤚🏼

Watching Isabella- a broken girl slowly find herself, claw her way back from the ashes, and learn to stand again destroyed me in the most beautiful way.

I feel genuinely privileged to have witnessed their love story unfold.

“Now I want slow mornings. I want mismatched mugs and cold sheets and your hand on my back when I can’t sleep. I want ugly fights and honest apologies and growing pains that mean we’re still trying.” 𓍯𓂃𓏧♡

“Her presence is fire, mine is famine” ⊹₊ ৡ ⋆。°✩

“You were my only constant. My only voice in the silence. You didn’t talk to me, not really. But you looked at me. Like you hated me. Like I mattered enough to hate.” ˚₊‧꒰ა❤︎໒꒱ ‧₊

"You think I'm dangerous? You're right. I am. But not to you. For you." ༯

I AM NOT WELL🫠🫠🫠

The found family in this was AMAZING. Everything I ever wanted and more. In the middle of all the blood and war and betrayal, they found each other. They chose each other. The way Ada and Sawyer stood with Isabella, the way they became her anchors in all but blood??? I actually cried. These three built something sacred in the ruins and it made me fall even harder for this story.

The brother dynamic between Aslanov and Dominik absolutely owns me. The loyalty, the quiet understanding, the way they balance each other out. Dominik feels like the tether — he grounds Aslanov when the darkness wants to consume him whole. And yet he’s not soft himself. He has that same Bratva steel in his spine. Watching their bond unfold in the middle of chaos was EVERYTHING.

“But they’re not gone. Not really. There are people who leave marks on your skin, and then there are people who leave fingerprints on your soul. The kind you carry into every version of yourself that comes after. That’s what they are to me now. Not just chapters. Not just scars. Homes. In their own strange, wounded ways.”

I had to CLOSE THE BOOK and STARE INTO THE VOID. This isn’t normal!!!💔💔

This wasn’t just a mafia romance. This was about blood and bonds, scars and survival, families broken and rebuilt from ashes. These characters went to hell and BACK and still managed to make a home in the fire.

The way everything wrapped up so seamlessly! Every thread pulled tight, every bond solidified was so satisfying it felt like the perfect reward after all the chaos.

The EASIEST 5 STARS of my life. Myla Carbo owns me. This book owns me. I will be rereading this until my final breath. IM OBSESSED

And there we have it - the second half of Isabella & Aslanov’s story and what a rollercoaster of emotions it was😭.

I think my favourite aspect of this book has to be the development of Isabella and Aslanov from when we met them in book 1. Isabella was a strong and determined FMC that was always clear but we see her use her strength a lot more in this book. While Isabella had her own journey so did Aslanov and he battled through quite a bit to get back to her- she was his reasoning to keep on fighting even when life was darker than ever. Myla did a great job of highlighting his pain and struggles and it brought tears to my eyes at many times- more so when our characters are reunited and Isabella stops at nothing to put him back together again.

Our author also reveals another side of Aslanov- yes from book one it was clear that Aslanov had an obsession with her but we also see the side where he wants her as his woman through and through, and his equal in all aspects.

The title of this book is Inevitable Endings and honestly it is the perfect title - these two broken souls were the missing pieces of each others puzzles and it was clear that they were each others endgame.

The element of found family is also strong here which is an aspect I love to see in books. Overall the book wrapped up beautifully- I hope this isn’t the last time we see of this couple, maybe we might see them in a future book. It is bittersweet to be saying goodbye, but this couple fought immensely for their ending and that was ever so beautiful.

Thank you so much to the author who provided this e-arc for my honest thoughts 💭

First of all yes i did finish the books, but oh my did these books finished me 😩

In this duet we’re following the love story of Isabella and Aslanov. It’s not sweet, it’s not easy and it definitely is not lighthearted but it is real. Real grief, real chaos, real pain, real growth, real friendships, real desires and real love

Both fmc and mmc endured things in there lives that have marked them forever but together they help each other heal and don’t try to change one another as they are.

I’m in awe how Aslanov has grown since the start of book one till the end of book two. He learned so much and the man he became for Isabella had me a bit sobbing at the end out of happiness. How Isabella became this strong, independent women and kept going through everything.

My heart was so so so full at the end. 🫶🏼

Myla, i’m proud of you for what you have accomplished with these two books. You’re debut, and a debut to be damn proud of! ❤️💙

Keep in mind these are dark mafia psychological romances and to check the trigger warnings.

I was so excited to be gifted an ARC because this was one of my most anticipated reads of the year.. especially after the ending of book 1! Myla slayed it again. This book was dark, suspenseful and spicy! The yearning from the MMC in the book was everything and as broken as the FMC is in this book she also finds her strength. I’m obsessed with Mylas writing style and her ability to make you feel like you’re in the book. Sad this duet is over but so glad I got to experience this world!

I feel so extremely blessed to have had the chance to read this book as an ARC reader!!! even before opening this book I knew it would be five stars, and once again Myla has delivered!!

I WAS BLOWN AWAY 💣💣💣

What can I say? Literally from the first page till the very last this book delivered! The Plot twists has my jaw dropped, like literally open for a lot of the book. Every time I thought I knew where things might go Myla delivered the best twists possible and I was impressed. So much so that I finish the book within two days only took me that long because I had work!

Another thing I'd like to point out, what made this book so special for me, was the character growth, which was amazing, I have to say. Isabella was always a strong, independent woman, but in inevitable endings, I really enjoyed that her determination and bravery shined through. I feel like she's a more bolder, fiercer FMC. Aslanov's arc felt also so special to me. It was so fun seeing a softer, more vulnerable side to him, which is something I feel like is quite rare to find in Mafia books, which I really enjoyed. I really love the way he fights for her with determination, and he really just loves her so much. I really enjoyed that I could feel their connection while reading the pages. It's like you could feel the bond. Which is sometimes a feeling that I don't get while reading romance books, but this book definitely delivered with that.

I really, really, really enjoyed the found family aspect of this book. I really love that in a book. And one more thing, that basement scene... that's all I'm gonna say. You guys are gonna have to read to find out more about that.

That ending, the ending of this book I find tied everything together perfectly for me. And I'm sad that this duet has come to an end. I love the psychological edge of the series. And honestly, this is one of my top books, especially among my top duets. This is the perfect conclusion to their story, and I know I'm gonna have to be rereading this many times.

Huge thanks to Myla for entrusting me with an ARC. You’ve created definitely a very special series and I can't wait to see more from you because I know they will be just as great. I also can't wait for the rest of the world to experience the magic I have ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I love a series that starts good and ends good.

I won’t lie, book one was my favorite. But this is a close second for sure. I hated to see Aslanov and Isabella suffer for so long in this book, but it was needed for development and in so excited for their future.

Genuinly what was this. I had high hopes from the first book but this book was just like smut and trauma. I feel like the first book should’ve been a little longer and explored there relationship more and like finalized it then end it. Also the names I tried getting past them but the names he was called like monster and devil just kept coming and I genuinely wanted to close the book every time.

This was so good!

After I finished book one I was more than ready for this one!! And it definitely did not disappoint!

This book is filled with action and romance and it’s everything you need in a mafia book!
The author has a beautiful way of writing too that immediately pulls you in and never lets you go again!

Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love. But then they got torn apart and had to find their way to each other.

Well, after binging this series back to back, here we are again at the end of a really amazing duet. If you have not read DB yet, I highly recommend finishing it before coming back here.

After the fallout of Dangerous Beginnings, Isabella and Aslanov are left picking up the pieces of their broken world. Torn apart by circumstances, attacked by forces out to get them, a lot of this book focuses on their time apart and how they deal with their own conflicts and fight to get each other back. I just wanna say, the time they spent apart was heartbreaking. It felt like a lifetime and you could really feel their agony coming off the page. Y’all, these two are soulmates, they literally dream of one another!

“And if all that’s left of me is flame, then I want to be the fire that warms you, not the one that scars.”

What I loved so much about this book was Isabella’s transformation. She’s such an enigma to me because she’s always been shy, timid, broken but she really stepped it up and despite the horrible losses that she had to endure in the past few months, that didn’t stop her from searching for the love of her life and being his support as he recovered. My heart broke for all that she had to go through but I was so proud of her and how she handled it all.

And let’s not forget the other half of our beloved couple. Aslanov’s been through hell and back but you could tell his thoughts were always centred around Isabella, his solnyshko. I really liked him in this book because he comes to terms with his humanity and how he’s not the invincible and unfeeling king that he thought he was. He laughs, he cries, he loves and it made him very likeable compared to the first time we met him.

“I’m the Devil, solnyshko,” he breathes. “But for you, I kneel. For you, I would strip the skin off the world. Burn every city. Drown every name. If it meant you lived in peace at the end of it. If it meant your smile stayed unruined.”

Love isn’t easy but this love, it’s worth fighting for and every moment of this book just reminded me that these two are meant to be. Inevitable Endings had me on the edge but the last chapter was just so endearing, so satisfying that it was all worth the angst. Huge shout out to the art in here too, so beautiful, so well done, it really brought the scenes to life, I really wish more books had art in scenes! I liked this duet quite a bit and while this was my first time reading Myla’s writing, I really hope to seeing her grow and bring more worlds to life as she did with this one.

This is the kind of raw, painful, and ultimately beautiful gamut of human emotion that I hope to find in books that linger for me. And this one of Aslanov and Isabella's story is quite the epic tale. Book two focuses largely on Aslanov bring held captive, and her refuting to believe he's dead. These two are thrust into different kinds of pain to experience and overcome. Even though apart, they each draw on the other's memory and their love to hold them through the fate that threatens to break them.

Aslanov is bound in a hellish dungeon of his own; tortured, beaten, but through it all, his spirit never truly snuffs out. His mind and body are severely shattered though. So it's up to Bella to act as his angel to lead him out of the shackled darkness of his mind. The sensitivity to his fragile mental state, his vulnerability, will break your heart with its honesty.

Amidst that, we also have enemies revealed, Aslanov's position as Pakhan holding on by a thread, and a deeply engrossing narrative encased in layers of tension and tumultuous drama. This was so addictive and propelling. Focus remains on character and plot always. It may have some hard scenes but it served the story completely. I felt there with them, felt the cavernous cold, the aching loneliness, the burning flame of their love for one another.

This was a whirlwind, with intense emotions that leave you gutwrenched, then later action packed retribution. This man lives through purgatory and, in time, comes riding out with all the forces of Hell to rain upon his enemies. Justice be done, the warrior king on his throne, his queen by his side, and love persevering! Read this amazing duet now and have your flabbers gasted.

Now I need Dominik's story because this silent man's intensity and magnetism is off the charts too!

💭 This is the second and final book in the duology. In this one, we follow the continuation of Isabella and Aslanov’s story, and I can say I was really excited to see what would happen next!

I really liked how Aslanov, even while suffering, never gave up and never stopped thinking about Isabella—she was his strength to keep fighting.
He was the one fighting, and I was the one collecting favorite people to hate! And oh, how certain people got on my nerves!! 😂
But when Aslanov turns into *El Diablo*... it's game on!! And I can honestly say I loved every second of it. 🤭😈

I loved seeing them together again and how they love, support, and accept each other. It was truly beautiful! 🥹
I adored the ending and now I'm super curious about Dominik!! 🤭

P.S.:One of the reasons I loved this book so much was how Isabella’s feelings made me feel understood (the way Myla wrote it was just beautiful).

Mas quando o Aslanov vira El Diablo...it's game on!! E posso dizer que adorei cada momento. 🤭😈

"You dream of the devil because you were never afraid of Hell, you were afraid no one would find you in it."

"I'm the only place your chaos makes sense."

"I don't care how many pieces there are. I'll hold them all. Even the ones that cut me."
