Pranced: A Sierra Files Christmas Novella

Rate this book
Sierra Nakamura Davis thinks that spending Christmas with her husband’s relatives will be a real Yuletide treat. But when the animal rights activist finds out that his family has a reindeer farm, she begins to feel more like the Grinch.

Even worse, when Sierra arrives, she discovers that those very reindeer are missing. The community is depending on the creatures to spread holiday cheer at the annual light show. Plus, Sierra fears the animals might be suffering a far worst fate than being used for entertainment purposes.

Can Sierra set aside her dogmatic opinions to help get the reindeer home in time for the holidays? Or will secrets tear the family apart and ruin Sierra’s dream of the perfect Christmas?

“Christy has crafted another engaging story with the perfect mystery for the best time of year. Pick up your copy and get ready for Christmas the best way . . . reading one of the best holiday novellas ever!” Deena Peterson, A Peek at My Bookshelf

Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush
When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.

No dead bodies in this Sierra mystery but some missing reindeer. Sierra meets Chads family. She is determined to find the missing deer. With each book I see Sierra growing. She is becoming more concerned about the feelings and well beings of human beings while still keeping her compassion for the welfare of animals alive.

A quick-paced, short novella offers an entertaining break during the busy holiday season. Humor and suspense mix with touchy extended-family dynamics and offer a fun yet thoughtful read. Newlyweds Chad and Sierra get pulled into the search for his relatives missing reindeer. Although much of the story is lighthearted, the ending provides insightful hope. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.

I enjoyed this book very much. Sierra is a character I enjoy. Her views on animal rights are strong. Have you ever had a disagreement with your in laws? Sierra is very much opposed to the reindeer farm, but is quite helpful in finding them when they are missing. Twists and turns in the plot will keep you reading. This book is now in a trilogy that you will enjoy.

I am so happy that I have the opportunity to read such wonderful mysteries. To have mysteries that have a Christian faith is refreshing. Thank you Christy for putting Christ in your books.

PRANCED is a sweet Christmas suspense novella with an interesting twist. I enjoyed getting to know Sierra and her very accomadating new husband—who forgot to tell her a lot of need to know information. Of course that made for a lot of tension. Loved it. The ending was a surprise and totally perfect. I read this in less than an hour. Highly recommended. Don't miss PRANCED. Great read.

I received an e-book of Pranced right before Christmas in exchange for my honest review. Pranced was a fun, short read over the holidays. After reading the first two in the series, I was glad to have a Christmas novella come out when I wasn't expecting it. Poor Sierra is newly married and headed to spend Christmas with her husband, Chad's family. But Chad has left out a lot of IMPORTANT information, both about his wife and about his relatives. I was anxious to learn how each would react when the vegan (Sierra) and the reindeer farmers (Chad's Family) found out about the other's views. When the reindeer go missing, will it turn out to be Sierra's animal loving friends at fault? Some suspense, some humor, some compromising, and some holiday spirit in this little Christmas Novella.

Perfectly perfect holiday novella! This is book 3 in the Sierra Files~a spin off of the Squeaky Clean series featuring Gabby St. Claire.
Sierra and hubby Chad travel to spend Christmas with his grandparents. Chad fails to mention to Sierra, an animal rights activist, that his grandparents have a herd of reindeer that they use for their annual Christmas lights festival display. The reindeer go missing and Sierra is at the top of the list of suspects! Can Sierra solve the mystery of the missing reindeer and save Christmas for the town?

A wonderful story that can be enjoyed in just one reading. Sierra is meeting up with her husband's family for Christmas and along the way they run into many twists and turns. Not wanting anyone to make a bad first impression, her husband Chad hasn't shared some details with his family or Sierra. This doesn't work out so good as they find themselves at odds while trying to solve the mystery of the missing reindeer. I love seeing what Sierra has going on in her life and can't wait to see how the next family meeting turns out. I received this book free to review.

an Enjoyable Christmas read

This third Sierra book is a wonderful read that is hard to put down. Sierra struggles with her convictions for animal rights and the fact that her husband's aunt and uncle own a reindeer farm. However when the reindeer become missing she is eager to search for them and hopes to find them and be accepted by Chads family. This is a fun mystery with plenty of Christmas spirit!

Who hasn't dreaded meeting the in-laws? You want to make a great impression and you want to like them and them to like you. Sierra finds out that Chad's family has a reindeer farm and isn't too thrilled. When reindeer go missing the question of whether Siera might have freed them lingers. She doesn't want to ruin the season for everyone so she investigates and as usual chaos and revelations ensue. I had to read it in one sitting. Another great book by a great writer.

I thought this was a very sweet story. There was some interesting family dynamics in the beginning that has the main character challenged with some of her views on life. There is mystery, a little romance and humor in this one, and it is a good read any time of the year.
