I have loved reading this book series, The Scandalous Stringhams! I love all of the strong themes about family and friendship, and standing up for what is right. This family is truly a delight, especially in the midst of very strict societal rules, and they cling to what is important and right over what society dictates.
This latest book is about the youngest daughter/sister, Lady Rebecca. And she is truly delightful! She is kind, generous, loving and so much more. She is trying to find her place amidst her very capable and strong family members. Sometimes she is treated by her older sister as though she is fragile and doesn't know much and this frustrates her to no avail. But she holds her tongue and tries to do her best. I really loved watching her find her voice and strength to address this with her sister in a loving manner.
Lord Norwich, or Phineas, has the reputation of a rake. Although what society things and what actually is, are two different people. I loved watching his story of redemption and him finding his place in a family and finding love.
Rebecca is a spitfire and she is exactly what Phineas needs. Someone to believe in him and to listen to him. Someone to push him to be even better than he is. I absolutely loved watching their friendship grow into more. I loved the 50 questions he asked and seeing how these questions built a sweet friendship.
There are definitely some ups and downs but with the nudging and help of some wonderful servants, Phineas doesn't let these things hold him back from showing his true self to Rebecca. And Rebecca knows her heart and mind enough to help others see that she has grown and matured and is being very careful.
Loved it all!!! I also loved that the other Stringham family members showed up a lot in this book. It made me happy to see these other characters that I've come to love, and to see how they are faring.
Content: This is a Harlequin novel, but there is nothing more than innuendos and some kisses. Some innuendos are a little more pointed than others. Some talk of death due to the death of a character. Some talk of rakes.

I've devoured every book in The Scandalous Stringhams miniseries. Each book spotlights one sister from the family. The Stringham family is my favorite! They feel so real, and I connect deeply with them—above all, Becca, the youngest in this latest story.
Let me share my feelings from this read... Pure joy! I adore the leads, Lady Rebecca Stringham and Lord Norwich, who is known mainly in the book by his first name, Phineas. Sparks fly right from their first encounter. Their playful jabs? Utterly charming. When we find out that Phineas has never known real love in his life, it makes their relationship even more special. As the family's youngest, Becca often got babied too much. I adore how she gains strength and self-love through Phineas.
I also really enjoyed the Fifty Courtship Questions from Phineas, tucked at the book's end. It felt like the perfect bonus. The very strong epilogue wrapped things up beautifully, too. Samantha Hastings excels at sweet romances with lively characters you root for and never forget. Grab the whole series—I promise you'll adore the Stringhams, just like me.

Rake’s Love Story
This story, set against the vibrant backdrop of London with its outings in Hyde Park, elegant ballrooms, and lavish dinner parties. The author’s writing style and the overall narrative were quite enjoyable. However, I found the more risqué elements to be less to my taste. The main character, a rake, has a history that is referenced throughout the story. While the book is classified as a closed-door romance featuring descriptive kissing, innuendos, and mild cursing, those elements may not resonate with all readers.

I absolutely loved this book! Following the Stringham family through their romances has been lovely, and it was a delight to finally read Becca’s story! As the youngest, she’s popped up quite a bit throughout the series, and I love that she’s still the same Becca we got to meet in book one. She’s certainly more mature, but still in possession of a good heart and a willingness to find the good in all, as well as her love for the natural world.
I loved getting to see the humanity in Lord Norwich. I’d forgotten how much he had appeared in the previous books, and went back to find his scenes to have the full picture. It was so interesting to see how he’d changed over time, and also how much Becca truly saw and brought out the best in him.
I loved how nuanced and real the relationships felt in this novel. Becca’s relationships with her siblings had so many facets. We saw both the positives and the challenges in their relationships, particularly with Mantheria. Becca’s love for and frustration with her eldest sister both felt very real! I also loved that Becca could see the best in Alexander, Duke of Gastonbury, even with all the hurt he’d caused her family.

I just loved this one! I have very much enjoyed following the Stringham family along on all their adventures. Becoming His Bluestocking Countess is about the youngest Stringham, Becca, and she’s an absolute delight! She’s been there since the beginning of the series, and I’ve loved her journey. I’m really hoping the series continues and that the oldest Stringham, Mantheria, may have her own story perhaps? I’m just not ready to say goodbye to the Stringhams yet.

I really loved seeing Becca’s relationships with her different family members explored. We were able to see the challenges she faced with her older sister, Mantheria. We also saw how deeply she cared for the Duke of Glastonbury and his partner even though they had caused her family pain. I loved that the rest of her siblings made appearances, as well as her parents. Becca has become an aunt to so many beautiful babies!
It was really cool to see Phineas’ journey throughout this story as well. We finally begin to understand him and his past.
Highly recommend to fans of this series, and to regency romance fans!

Becoming His Bluestocking Countess is a heartfelt redemption story with biting wit & delicious romance. For those familiar with Samantha Hastings Scandalous Stringham family, this is Lady Rebecca’s story.
Lady Rebecca Stringham’s preparing for her first London season. Despite her brilliant intelligence, she struggles with reading (most likely dyslexia) & a plump figure. Her sharp wit, delightful sense of humor, & beauty more than make up for her supposed shortcomings but she still wilts under her older sister’s nitpicking, & loving family not ready for the youngest to grow up. When she rescues a handsome earl who’s been thrown from his horse, she intrigues him & they begin an enjoyable friendship.
Lord Norwich thinks he’s died & gone to heaven when he awakens to find his head in the lap of a gorgeous, curvaceous, young woman. When her wit dazzles him even more, he’s more than willing to get to know her despite his rakish past. She’s the only one who seems to touch his cold heart. Phineas determines to truly get to know her & every walk, dance, or moment together he asks her a series of 50 questions. As their friendship grows, he wants to formally court her, but will her family ever approve, or accept the secrets he holds close to his heart?
This story really touched me. Phineas is a delightful dandy who’s the epitome of fashion. I loved the descriptions of all his outlandish outfits. Underneath his cool, sneering facade is a man who endured a crushing childhood & never felt real love until Rebecca.
Becca’s a ray of sunshine. Though she has her own difficulties, she’s witty, charming, & clever. She never failed to surprise me with her repartee. She loves animals & enjoys creating caricatures of her family & friends as animals. I loved her portrayal of Phineas as a protective lion.
This story has a lot of heart especially as these two broken people find love & redemption. Together they help each other soar.
Recommend to Regency romance fans. Though part of a series, it’s easily read as a standalone, but now I’m looking forward to reading the previous books in the series. It’s closed door, but contains innuendo, & descriptive, steamy kisses. I received an advanced copy from the author with no expectation of a positive review. Watching two endearing broken feeling characters come to find dear connection, acceptance, unconditional love, and belonging had my heart. Seeing the endless encouragement, kindness, and support that each gives others was heartwarming. I loved seeing how each in their own unique way not only bring out the best in each other, but also toward those around them. Watching them be able to be more confident in unmasking the goodness within, to be more confident in their strengths of standing up for themselves for what is right, of forgiving of others, and of holding out for their own happiness was inspiring. This story wonderfully shows that, “your worth is great and your possibilities are endless.”❤️

I've loved getting to know all the members of this unapologetically unconventional family, who care more about each other than what Society thinks.

This is the first book I read of this series and now I want to go back and read the other 4 books! The close family dynamic in this story is so enjoyable! Becca’s father allows his children to chase after their own dreams, regardless of societal dictates. Becca’s relationship with all her siblings and their spouses is so sweet! And oh my goodness! This is a TRUE redemption story that I could not get enough of!

Becca is a sweet, smart, and witty FMC! Her learning difficulties did not hold her back. Though she has a difficult time reading and is slower, it did not prevent her from learning all about various animals and their Latin roots. She is the ‘runt’ of her family being shorter and curvier than her sisters and brothers. As the story progresses, I love how she learns to embrace all of herself! She doesn’t write well and draws pictures instead to get her feelings out and I absolutely adored the pictures she drew for Phineas (Fin)!!

This is the first book I read of this series and now I want to go back and read the other 4 books! The close family dynamic in this story is so enjoyable! Becca’s father allows his children to chase after their own dreams, regardless of societal dictates. Becca’s relationship with all her siblings and their spouses is so sweet! And oh my goodness! This is a TRUE redemption story that I could not get enough of!

I’m sad to see this series come to an end. The Stringham’s are an intriguing and entertaining family. This story is about the youngest Rebecca. She has always been picked on and bullied for her difficulties in learning to read and write, but also for her weight. When she’s out walking in the park one morning, she sees a stunning specimen of a man get thrown off his horse. She couldn’t possibly leave him laying there alone so she goes to make sure he’s OK. This is the beginning of a delightful, witty and entertaining book. We have already met the other siblings in the Stringham family and Becca‘s story doesn’t disappoint.
Phineas was raised in a home where his father ignored him and belittled him and his mother was only concerned with his appearance. She was not a nurturing or compassionate mother. As he grew older, he became a reckless rake and gambler. Can this overprotected, baby of the family and a rake with a very poor reputation and a secret, come together?
The banter keeps the story, light and fun, the family dynamics are strong, the overcoming and facing their own struggles is world building, and the romance is sizzling while still being a close door romance. While it is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. Many of the characters do overlap. I would suggest reading them in order, but it is not necessary. I am giving it 4.5 stars because it was a little repetitious as far as details in the closeness of their bodies when they were kissing and her voluptuous curves. That is my personal opinion.

I was worried I wouldn't like the book because I hadn't read any of the previous ones in the series.
I loved it!
Becca- the main character is the youngest of her siblings. She is strong willed, and has watched her siblings enough to know what she wants in life. She struggles to read and write, but she is intelligent and very quick witted. She also isn't afraid to be bold in her flirting. Love her!
Phineas- The Rake of Rakes. haha! He is a dandy, and a rake, but it all started to mask his pain. He has deep childhood trauma because he never was good enough for his father. But he hides it well to everyone around him... except Becca.
Their secret friendship/relationship is fun and just scandalous enough to keep you on your toes, but also completely clean while being incredibly romantic.
I hope you love this book as much as I did!

This was a delightfully sweet and charming read.
A journey of self-worth, of courage, of hope, of friendship, and of love.
Neither Becca nor Phineas have very high self-esteem. Becca has been put down all her life due to her struggles to read and due to her body.
Phineas grew up with two loveless parents who always made him feel like a worthless failure, which he began to believe was true.
Two broken people, longing for connection and acceptance. I enjoyed watching Phineas and Becca support and encourage one another. She brought out the best in him, helping to uncover what was hidden under his persona of a flashy dandy without a care in the world. He helped her self-confidence, to stand up against those making snide remarks. Truly a sweet connection.
“Becca was like the sunlight after weeks of rain. She carried an inner glow that could not be diminished, even by a miserable sot like himself.”
Content: Mentions of a woman’s body and curves, talk of bedding, kissing with tongue. Infidelity among other characters. Still closed door.

I enjoyed this book. I have enjoyed the other books in this series and loved that Rebecca got to have her story. I loved that she found someone who saw her and loved her for all her perceived imperfections. I also loved how she saw Phineas for who he really was and didn’t listen to the rumors about town. I loved how they loved each other for who they are and could be authentic with each other. I really loved their romance and thought this story was well done.

An absolutely wonderful historical romance. Loved the fifty courtship questions. It was just perfect.
