Legacy #4

Hell's Gator

Rate this book
-Hellen or 'Hell' as she's known to her family-

Hellen tossed a shovel full of dirt onto the gator’s body. Her breath caught as the animal twitched. Jumping down into the hole where the gator she presumed was dead lay on its back, she pressed her head against the animal’s chest, listening for a heartbeat. Detecting no sound at all, Hellen stood back and looked down at the gator critically. She didn’t want to bury it if it wasn’t dead, but wasn’t sure if he was or not. Suddenly an idea struck. Hellen stood, then dropped her body onto the gator while slamming the back of her elbow into its chest. Then she pressed her head against the animal’s chest and listened. One single beat of its heart answered her effort to get its heart beating. Hellen stood up excitedly, adrenalin pumping through her at the idea that she might manage to save it. Aiming for the gator’s chest again, she dropped her body onto the injured creature's upper body once more. She pressed her ear to its chest hoping for another heartbeat. But what she heard instead was a deep, threatening growl. “It’s alive!” she exclaimed, jumping quickly out of the would-be grave. Circling around to see its face, she managed to get a good look at its one remaining eye. What she saw sent a chill through her. One very clear, very blue, human eye gazed at her from beneath the gator’s reptilian lid. “You’re a shifter! I’m going to get you out of there, and find somewhere to shelter you. Just hold on!” Hellen teetered precariously on the edge of the would-be grave and grabbed ahold of the gator’s tail. He growled again when she began pulling with all her might to get him out of the hole she’d dumped him in. “And don’t bite me! I’m trying to help you!”

~ Lucien ~

Lucien lay on a pallet in a makeshift shelter the irritating female had built around him. He breathed heavily, his huge body sweating as he fought off the infection from the gunshot wounds. Yes, wounds — three of them. One in the back of his skull, and two in the chest, along with gashes across his body from the propeller of a boat. He’d been lying here for weeks, just barely clinging to life as the female did all she could to keep him breathing. In his opinion it was the least she could do, since she’d tried to bury him alive. Movement from her side of the shelter caught his attention, and he watched her warily as she approached him.
“Hey, are you awake? I have to go. I’m needed at home, and I’ve been putting it off. I can’t wait anymore.”
He hissed at her.
“You’re stable enough to be alone for a few days. I’m leaving my water bottles and what little food I have left. I’ll move it all closer so you can get to it easily. If you can manage to venture out, please don’t. I don’t know if the people that did this to you are still around. I’ll be back in a couple of days.”
He opened his mouth and hissed at her more fiercely than he had before.
“If you keep that up, I won’t come back.”
He closed his mouth, but still glared at her.
Minutes later he lay there listening to her four-wheeler driving away, deserting him during one of the only times in his life he’d ever needed anybody. “How dare she?” he thought. He spent the next three hours dragging himself a few inches at a time toward the slivers of sunshine that fell through the small shelter’s opening. She’d given him no choice but to try to track her — even in his weakened condition. She needed to learn that mates don’t leave one another to die alone.

I write Paranormal, SciFi and Fantasy Romance. Why, you may ask? Romance, because who doesn’t love a good romance, and the lack of reality in the story lines - because, well, normal is highly overrated. I’m 55, I have two kids, one 32 and one 12 (yes, God does have a sense of humor), one grandchild, one husband, and a menagerie of animals. Literally, too damn many things that eat wandering around our property. I love to cook, and I am a voracious reader, though since I started writing I don’t get as much time to read as I once did. I am a homebody and prefer my writing/reading time to a crowd. I have had stories and fictional characters wandering around in my head for as long as I can remember. I started letting them out into the real world and surprisingly, people have loved them. I am a Self-Published Author, and I like it that way because I can decide what and when to write. I am by no means a formal, polished, properly structured individual and neither are my stories. But people seem to love the easy emotion and passion that naturally flow from them. A bit of a warning though, there are some “triggers” in them that certain people should avoid. I’m a firm believer that you cannot have light without the dark. You cannot fully embrace the joy and elation that my people eventually find if you do not bear witness to their darkest hours as well. So please be sure to read the warnings supplied with each of the synopses about my books before you buy them. I've got three series published at this time, Avaleigh's Boys - PNR, Whispers From the Bayou - Fantasy PNR, Haven - a SciFi, and three more in process. I’m a bit sarcastic, scathing actually, and a smartass to boot, so if I offend you, it is most likely not intentional. But be prepared because it probably won’t be the last time. I’m always glad to hear from readers; those who have followed me from the beginning, and those who have just found my people. So feel free to look me up and say hello, or just follow along; either way, I’m glad to have you.

An entertaining read and mate for Hellen

I am a huge fan of Sandra Neeley’s paranormal romance books. Each book adds more characters and more depth to the storyline and grows the family. This legacy book was cool to catch up with the families. The author does give a chart of the families to help if you have not read the several series that make up these families. The main female character is Hellen and she is a twin and her brother is Havoc. Her parents are Maverick (wolf) and Valerie (lion). Hellen is a park ranger and takes her job seriously. Hellen enjoys working with humans. Whilst she was working she found an alligator that seemed dead floating in the swamp; but lo and behold Lucien (alligator) was just very lucky that all those bullets did not kill him. Once Hellen realizes that Lucien is still alive she tries to nurse him back to health. Due to an emergency with one of her cousins, she has to leave and head home. That event was covered in the previous book. The alligator was very upset and did not understand why Hellen had to leave him. So he followed her home. . . . This is where Hellen and Lucien’s journey begins. There is a happy ending plus the epilogue is about Daisy. Looking forward to her book, poor thing. Read On!

I’m not even sure where to start, Sandra R Neeley’s “Hell’s Gator” grabbed me by the heart and didn’t let go! The mix of paranormal thrills, shifter drama, and raw emotion had me hooked from page one. Hellen’s fierce determination and Lucien’s tough but vulnerable nature made me feel like I was right there with them, battling gators and bad guys.

This isn’t just a story; it’s a full-on experience that kept me turning pages late into the night. If you love action, heart, and a little bite (literally), Sandra’s Legacy Series is a must-read. Seriously, more people NEED to know about this gem. I can’t wait to dive into the rest of the series and see what wild adventures are next!

Warning: Once you start, you might not stop, and you’ll want to talk about it nonstop, too. Highly recommend!

just wow !

I really loved Hell’s story her mate sounds finger, licking good but the only thing that I kinda am upset about is about Bailey and Remi. I really wanted those two together. Well will we have a book to were One of the characters chooses their own mate. That would be awesome Because I feel like Christy deserve someone that will be into her and not in love with someone else and I feel like Remi deserves to be with the one that he wants to be with. I love Bailey and it’s so not fair especially when she’s someone else’s mate, but he’s able to resist can’t wait for the next one. Daisy’s gonna be amazing.

Another wonderful book

In this captivating romance novel, a headstrong and determined female protagonist encounters her perfect counterpart - an equally resolute male character who happens to be a gator shifter. Their dynamic interaction creates a compelling narrative that promises to keep readers thoroughly engaged from start to finish. The chemistry between these two strong-willed characters generates an electrifying tension that makes the story impossible to put down. Readers are already eagerly anticipating the next installment featuring Daisy's story, which hints at further exciting developments in this intriguing series.

A tempestuous romance - I love it!
Wow! Hellen and Lucien are so independent I begin to wonder if this will ever work out. Lucien is so very appealing, I don’t see how she can resist. I love his single-minded focus on Hellen! She doesn’t make it easy, so this is quite an adventure. I adore the way the multigenerational clan actively watches over each other, giving a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on, or protection from dangers as needed. The story is well-written, and I’m emotionally invested in all that’s happening. That’s fine storytelling!

I adore this family!

She did it again. So good! I love this family. They take such great care of each other. I like that each book is about more than the main characters. It brings in everyone around them. I admit that there are a lot of characters and I have to look them up on occasion but it adds so much to the world they live in. This would make the best TV show!

Total Immersion

I’ve read every book from this author I’ve ever found. I started with Whispers from the Bayou, and have followed the families ever since. Because that’s what they are, branches of families that are so real, so encompassing they feel real and personal.
I don’t know if I can say it here, but this woman is a hell of a writer.

Loving this series

At first I wasn't sure about a gator shifter, didn't give me the same vibe as cuddly like bears, wolves, or the dragons, but, you know it works. Hellen and Lucien, both strong characters, find love. Lots of humour included and you can't not include my favourite, Maverick. Great story.

A good installment, but the change from “I don’t know if we should be together” to “I’m all in” was kinda quick. Mostly still reading the series in the hopes that one of my favorite side characters will finally get a book. Uncle Boon anyone?

This was another good one. I love these characters. I also love that we get some of the Whispers characters with Tempest and hopefully her family soon. I hope that Daisy, Bailey and Remi get their HEA’s.

It's about time!

I have been waiting sooo long for the next book in the new Legacy series. I've been a huge fan of this very talented author since AVALEIGH'S BOYS and RILEY'S PRIDE. Her books are perfectly diverse, funny, inciteful, loveable, etc, etc, etc. I love and sometimes hate the storylines. They make me smile, laugh, angry and cry. A FAN FOR LIFE!!!
