1346. When Hugh Brombury’s lack of prowess on the battlefield puts him in poor standing with the stern Sir Leland Lockwood, his future as a squire seems uncertain. Then he receives a message from his former mentor, the renowned Sir Guilliam the Great. But it raises more questions than it answers.

Why has Guilliam renounced his knighthood, and his faith in God? What led him to live among a group of pagans on the outskirts of a remote village? And why have the villagers condemned him to death for a crime he swears he did not commit – the killing of a local tavern maid?

To clear his name before his execution, Guilliam requires Hugh’s immediate aid. Leaving the life of a squire behind, Hugh must brave a dangerous road to reach his friend in time. But the answers he’s looking for lie deep within the woods, where he soon uncovers more than he bargained for…

Loved the first book in this series and loved this one as well! I really enjoy this author’s storytelling where I can just disappear into this world he has created. The characters feel really authentic and I grow really fond of them very quickly. Hoping a third book will come soon!! I need more from this author please

Another charming book from Joseph Chadwick. I found the Briarmen to be such a magical book, so I was hoping that Brombury would also be as enchanting, and I was not disappointed. Set before the tale of The Briarmen, Brombury tells the tale of the squire Brombury and his quest to save the knight Sir Guilliam from execution for a crime he did not commit. It also tells of how the town Brombury in The Briarmen is named as it is.

Chadwick’s writing brings to mind the wonder of Narnia, with the mystical creatures, the magical forest, the captivating characters. I am so enjoying the books in this series, and I am so looking forward to reading the next book when it comes out.
