Was an ok read up until the last part where there is a flashback to their ‘meet cute’ where they are 17 and 27 years old? And fall instantly in love… hard no for me.
For a true story, this reads like a lot of similar (fictional) yuri fluff books, offering an endless supply of frictionless syrupy sweetness and not much else. Its basis in real life does give it a little extra kick, but not much.
Koharu is ten years older than Minato, but the two of them came together over a protracted period and then realized they were in love. This backstory is honestly the best part of the story and I wish it wasn’t consigned to the later chapters.
It skirts a thin line for me with that age gap, as Minato was 17 at the start, but I appreciate that the dating and meeting up appears to have happened a little after. This may mean nothing to some readers, but I was happier for it.
Otherwise, the two mostly gush over one another at home, go to work their jobs, then come together to do it all over again. When they’re together they just dote on, and cling adorably to, one another.
I was honestly way more interested in their workplaces - Minato is a welder and Koharu drives forklifts, which are outside the usual roles we might expect them to have. The parts about their drawing were good too, but could stand to be emphasized more.
Otherwise this is just fluff. Sure, it has a little more impact because it’s fluff about two people who actually exist, but reading it all at once has the tendency to make the chapters blend together as they both keep saying how amazing the other one is.
And just because it is their real story doesn’t mean we shouldn’t expect a little more than what we get. I’m absolutely happy for the two of them, they genuinely seem to be crazy in love, but this feels like when a friend starts dating somebody new and can’t talk to you about anything else.
3 stars - not bad, but there’s nothing here minus the cute. It’s decent and they’re easy to root for, but it could use a little more variety.
No climax, no point, no meaning. Literally the most uninteresting story I've read all year. Art was average, that's the biggest compliment I can give to this book.
this is right up my alley - extremely sweet, cute, and fluffy, with little tension and mostly just a slice-of-life romance. the 'meet cute' is what knocked off at least a star......it's questionable at best, since minato is only 17. there are a couple of things that made the situation a bit better - koharu is pretty clearly surprised that minato is so young (they meet online) and she explicitly states that she thought of her as a little sister, and when they do finally start officially dating koharu waits until minato makes the first move. but the timeline is more than a little fuzzy, and I can see why people would be turned off. for me, the wholesomeness here outweighs the negatives - I'm acknowledging the problematic initial beginnings while also appreciating the relationship they're cultivating in adulthood.

Very cutesy and domestic romance. Despite the age gap “scaremongering” reviews, the relationship between Minato and Koharu is very organic and developed naturally. It is stated from page 1 they are in that type of relationship and in my honest opinion is not creepy at all. Also good to know fiction based on real life where a lesbian couple doesn’t have a tragic end or very dramatic setting. Their slice of life story gives all the fluff and wholesome vibes all lesbians deserves in real life. I thrive to see other lesbians being happy. Can’t wait for more.
It was cute buuuut there was no plot honestly. Just short little snippets of their life together which were not very entertaining. Some cute moments but very forgettable.
