I'm going to get to Greg Land's art but first the good
I really enjoyed this period of X-Men, I think Gillen has always shown a great grasp with the team. I enjoyed seeing Scott becoming more revolutionary and all the arcs were wins in my opinion. Absolutely loved seeing the start of Sinister's more theatrical personality, he's been one of my favorite x-villains for years and it's great seeing where his personality shift began. SWORD was a fun miniseries but AVX Consequences was a phenomenal mini, and it works perfectly as an ending for this Omnibus. Aside from my upcoming target, all the art was pretty good too.
Now for Greg Land. I have been fortunate that in all my many comic book readings his art hasn't shown up often for me. This is because his art is awful and due to his limited ability to illustrate, it often would throw me out of the story. This is because he is well know for being a blatant tracer (this isn't just using other art as reference, this is just objectively copying), so the characters are always following something he traced and not what they should actually be doing in the story. And if you weren't aware, he traces lots of porn. This also creates the issue where all the women have the same face, and they all are drawn incredibly lewd. Just look up his art if you're curious. It's very frustrating to have Magik and Emma Frost look identical just because they're both blonde and he can't draw women's facial features. Rant over.
In summation, very fun X-Comics, just please don't let Greg Land ruin it.

At the time it came out, the Gillen run of X-Men was part of the amazing run of X-Men that reinvigorated it thanks to Brubaker, Carey, Gillen, and Bendis.
Now, its defects show a bit more clearly, the prime among them being the fact it's bookended by two big crossovers: Fear Itself and AvX, the first of which was mediocre, and the second of which character-assasinated a bunch of favorites in a color-by-numbers plotted storyline.
Gillen does his best with all of that. His Fear Itself story of the empowered Juggernaut is extremely memorable. Then, the bulk of his AvX crossover is an excellent 4-part Mr. Sinister storyline. In fact, Gillen's expansion of Mr. Sinister is the best part of his run, and if the run seems a little less spectacular than it was a decade ago, that's in large part because this amazing expansion of Mr. Sinister is now a much better known and understood part of the canon (in large part due to Gillen's return to the character in Krakoa). Still, all of the Mr. Sinister stories here are great.
And Gillen also writes AvX Consequences, which is perhaps the best part of the crossover (and the part that seems the most in-character). A lot of it is now more clearly a transparent setup for Bendis, but the character studies of Cyclops, Magik, and others are great.

Kieron Gillen writes an amazing Cyclops. This is a Cyclops that has been dragged through hell and has come out stronger and willing to do what it takes. It puts him on the trajectory that he will be forced to go down due to marvel editorial with Schism and AVX, but Kieron Gillen writes him so well that you actually believe it. He could have written Danaerys’ downfall in GoT believably. He writes an issue about a disconnected phalanx and another issue about a rogue Sinister and makes you actually sympathize with these rogue villains in just a dozen pages. Really impressive stuff. I would like to read the story he could have told without all of the mandatory events, but even with these things forcing his hand to one direction he delivers a very well written and satisfying saga.
