I've spent twenty years building walls around my heart—until one stubborn therapist decided to tear them down.
I run Station 19 like a military operation. Divorced for years, teenage daughter who barely tolerates me, and now mandatory therapy with some soft-spoken shrink who thinks he can fix me. At forty-two, I thought I had myself figured out.
Dr. Kieran Thorne doesn't intimidate easily. Not even when I use my captain voice and tower over his desk. But when his knowing green eyes meet mine, something shifts inside me—something I've never felt for any man before.
Our sessions become a dangerous dance. He leans closer to make a point. I catch myself staring at his mouth. Professional questions awaken desires I didn't know existed, and suddenly I'm questioning everything I thought I knew about myself.
When he challenges me, heat floods my veins. When I finally break down my walls, he's right there to catch me. And somewhere between late-night calls and stolen moments in his office, I realize he's not trying to fix me—he's helping me discover who I really am.
When department politics threaten us, I face a hide behind my rank and old assumptions, or fight for the man whose gentle hands showed me a new side of desire.
Some walls hide more than hearts. Some discoveries are worth the fall.
Age gap romance / Single dad hero / Grumpy/sunshine / Therapist/patient (ethical) / Enemies to lovers / Power exchange / Guaranteed HEA
Taylor Knox writes emotionally rich MM romance about the men who risk everything—on the job and in love. Set in the world of firefighters, EMTs, and those who love them, her stories blend high-stakes action with slow-burning chemistry, deep vulnerability, and the kind of found family that heals old wounds.
She’s fascinated by the contrast between strength and softness, tradition and transformation—and her characters always face more than just fire. Whether it’s a rookie trying to prove himself or a battle-hardened captain learning to open his heart again, Taylor’s romances deliver intensity, tenderness, and hard-earned happy endings.
When she’s not writing about men falling in love against the odds, she’s drinking too much coffee, falling for fictional crushes, and pretending her search history is all for “research.”
So. Dorian is 42 years old (looking at the cover, I thought he'd be close to 60). Description of him in a book: “His hair was dark, with silver at the temples” - not full silver and nothing about the beard…
Chapters 2, 4 and 6 need to be reread by the author or the editor. How can Kieran write the same thoughts in his patients notes? Why does he talk to Patricia about the same staff two times but in different offices? P.S. I read the book on Kindle Unlimited; maybe somewhere else there is a better version 🤷🏼♀️
Chapter 9. How did ribeye steaks become chicken?
And what is with time jumps and no breaks between paragraphs? Here they were in bed, and the next thing we know they are buying avocados :/
This book felt like it was written in one go without checking once what was written before it was published. So many things were repeated word for word multiple times or facts just changed within a couple of sentences. Furthermore Dorian may dislike the idea of going to therapy but this was anything but no enemies to lovers story. Sadly won’t continue this series after this book.
