For fans of Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn and Sarah J. Maas' Throne of Glass, Starhunt is a thrilling tale of enemies to lovers and conflicting morals that is sure to delight both epic and romantic fantasy readers alike.

Do you revel in the darkness? Or are you for starlight, for everyone?
He works for the King, hunting down the fallen stars to be returned to the night sky. She's a star-powered thief, willing to bend the laws of the Kingdom to return starmagic to her people. Both of them have proven that they can, and will, use their blades against anyone who gets in their way. But when the Stars and Moon deem that their paths should cross, will Kieran and Talla’s clash of causes be for the better, or will it be for blood?

A thousand years after the stars fell from the sky over Larendi, King Armund has surprisingly discovered a way to send them and their magic back.

Kieran, a renowned and rightfully cocky member of the King’s Guard, has been the King’s personal starhunter for almost a decade. With his charm, status, and expert negotiating skills, Kieran has recovered more stars than he can count. But as the number of uncollected stars is dwindling, Kieran’s need to call upon his extensive and unique training grows..

Because not everyone is a believer in the King’s vision. Beyond the castle walls, rebels are working to keep stars in the hands of the people. Talla, a skillful and star-powered thief, holds the rebellious views of the diminishing few that feel comfort in the darkness. She believes that keeping the stars on the ground is the key to saving her people.

But after Talla is betrayed, she unexpectedly finds herself without starmagic and needing to rely on the last person she would ever choose to trust–Kieran. Despite his better judgement, he finds himself bringing the starthief with him across Larendi on his final starhunt. As their journey leads them to uncover hints to the night sky’s lost secrets, they both discover that the Stars and Moon may have led them to something they each didn't realize they needed–each other.

How surreal it is to review your own book on Goodreads. Of course, my review miiiight be a little biased...but you'll never know for sure until you read it yourself. 😉

The one word that comes to mind over and over again when I think about Starhunt is THRILLING! The story is a real page turner, between the exciting action scenes and the tension between characters my heart was racing most of the time... even after reading like three times now. Starhunt really is nonstop fun.

Another thing Starhunt does really well is build the world around you as the story moves along. There are very few long, descriptive passages that slow down a lot of fantasy stories (for better or for worse), instead you are always taking one of the main character's points of view, immersed in the world and in the action. A great aspect of that world-building is the magic system. I am a lover of soft magic systems... but while Starhunt has more of a hard magic system, there is enough mystery built in that it feels magical enough for me.

Speaking of the characters: I love them. Both main characters are sympathetic, uniquely skilled, and yet very flawed. Starhunt is one of the rare stories that is "morally grey" in a completely uncringe way. It's not that there "are no good guys or bad guys", instead, our heroes are very human and doing their best with incomplete understandings of the world. Meanwhile the bad guys (who are very scary and bad) have some pretty subtle, complex motivations. The moral mysteries are what I'm most excited to see resolved in the sequel.

Overall, Starhunt is a great read. It combines page turning fun with enough character personality and in-world complexity to be thought provoking. I can't wait to talk about it with more people when it is finally published next week!!

I would love to thank Alysa for giving me the opportunity to be on her street team for this novel. It is truly wonderful to be able to help someone promote their hard work. The fact that this was ger first novel shows how much promise she has for future stories.

The plot and the characters were truly exciting. I truly loved that our two characters who had different standings in society were able to work out their differences and he able to work together. Overall this story was a very exciting adventure. I'm looking forward to the fact that come September other readers will have the opportunity to experience this wonderful story.

I was lucky enough to get my hands on an early copy!! I have read it TWICE already and can tell you in all honesty that if you are a Sarah J Maas girlie, love enemies to lovers, romantasy, strong female main characters, you are going to LOVE this book. It gives Throne of Glass, Mistborn, When The Moon Hatched, One Dark Window vibes. I would 10/10 recommend pre-ordering as soon as you can, you will not regret it. Excited to continue following this new author and see what else she comes up with in the future!

This was such a great book. I loved how the stars held magic and the little bit of lore behind them. Talla is such a badass. I was rooting for her from the beginning. To me, she was relatable because of how she didn't want to follow what everyone else was told to do and actually held strong to her beliefs. The banter was *chefs kiss*. Talla is so sassy and I loved every bit of it. The last few chapters flew by. I did not want to put the book down and kept turning the pages needing to know what was going to happen next. The twists, I did not expect. AND THAT ENDING!! Hopefully book 2 will be released soon.

I really want to learn more about what happened to her mom or what lead to those events. I'm also looking forward to hopefully learning more about the lore of the stars. It would also be cool to have maybe a prequel that talked about how the king got into his position since it is talked about how different his is from the last.

I can't say too much else without spoiling it, but there was one character that I HATED so much. The author did a phenomenal job with that character and building up the hatred even more.

SO GOOD! This book was SO GOOD! I am so impressed with this being the debut book for the author!

This is a dual POV with rebels vs. Royals vibes. I can’t even say I’m rooting for 1 side more than the other because the characters that represent either side are just so relatable you’re rooting for both of them. PLUS there’s a horse sidekick that is just as much of the story as the humans!

This book really has me questioning how I feel about the night sky, I may never be able to look out at the stars the same.

LOVE LOVE LOVEEE this book and everyone needs to read it! And thank you to the author for giving me an ARC so I could leave my honest review on the book! 🫶🏼

WOW WOW WOW! The way this book INSTANTLY captivated me is something that I haven’t found in a book in a long time. The story kept me on my toes and the author’s writing style is exquisite. This book had me laughing, smiling, and feeling sad all at once. Take a chance on this book. You will not be disappointed, I promise. I already can’t wait for the next one to come out!

Five starts is not enough to give this book, if Goodreads let me do more I would. This book captivated me right from the very first page. The story was so unique and I loved the magic system and world building. The writing was so descriptive and sophisticated and I truly could understand what was going on at all times. If you love a strong FMC, Talla doesn’t disappoint. She’s a leader, fierce, strong, and determined to be independent. I can’t wait to see where her story goes. As for the MMC, I love how mysterious he is, but he’s also kind of a softie and cares a lot for others. There’s big plot twists, lots of action, lots of magic, and an epic quest. There’s truly something for everyone in this book. I will continue to follow this author and can’t wait to support her future books. Thank you again to Alysa for choosing me for this ARC copy!

I read a lot of fantasy but never really "Romantasy", so I didn't know what to expect when starting this but I was pleasantly surprised! A fun story with interesting characters and a neat magic system. Will definitely return for book 2.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was lucky enough to be on the ARC team for Starhunt by Alysa Misfeldt—and wow, this book completely swept me away!

I love supporting indie authors, especially when they’re local, and this story reminded me exactly why. From the very first page, I was hooked. The dual POV made it so easy to connect with both main characters, and seeing what each of them was fighting for made it nearly impossible to choose a side.

The banter, tension, and slow burn were everything I could want. Add in a unique magic system, the perfect dose of enemies-to-lovers, and some unforgettable side characters—and you’ve got a new favorite read.

And I can’t forget Boli 🐴—her moments were truly some of the best in the entire story.

✨ Starhunt releases on September 27th, and trust me, you’ll want this one on your TBR! ✨

"Do you revel in the darkness?"

WOW. I am completely head over heels for this book, it's fictional world, and beloved characters! And I'm in awe this was Alysa's debut novel 😍 RUN to this read, book gram!

⭐️Talla, our FMC, is a green eyed beauty and a total badass. She's in a band of thieves who chase down fallen stars in hopes of giving them back to the people of her hometown, Brakken. (Think- Robin Hood who stole from the rich and gave to the poor.) But theres so much more to Talla I loved. Her wittiness, her skills both with wielding her magic and against an opponent, and her stabbiness! xD As Talla's journey with her band comes to a sudden crisis, she crosses paths with a certain broody someone who is seeking exactly what Talla hunts- Stars.

🗡 Kieran, our MMC, a golden eyed, tall drink of water. He is the captain of the Kings Guard who has been specially trained to hunt down fallen stars and return them to the King of Larendi who has hopes of collecting them all. Kieran dutifully plays the role he has trained for his entire life..that is until a wildfire enters the mix and turns his world upside down. I especially loved the relationship between Kieran and his horse, Boli 🥹

Tropes you'll love:

⭐️Enemies to lovers
🗡Immersive World Building
⭐️Starmagic
🗡One Horse/One Bed
⭐️Morally Grey FMC
🗡He falls first
⭐️Slow Burn Romance

Thank you so much to @authoralysamisfeldt for the earc of Starhunt! I love supporting our local authors. 😍 Starhunt releases on September 27th!

Do you revel in the darkness? Or are you for starlight, for everyone?

Starhunt takes place in a world where the stars are used like magical vessels, giving power to the user, after they all fell from the sky 1,000 years ago. King Armund has figured out a way to put them back into the sky, and this has become his life's mission.

Kings Guard Kieran has been tasked with retrieving the last few stars still on the ground, with his horse and his star-seeking wristband, he sets off to find the final few.

Talla is a thief with a rather impressive star for herself. She is journeying the countryside with her 2 companions, until she is betrayed and she finds herself being taken care of Kieran. These two must team up, for their own reasons, to be reunited with the stolen stars.

Full of a unique magic system, tension, enemies to lover goodness, one horse (who ends up liking her more!), betrayal, and one sexy bed scene.

This book was SO GOOD! If Alysa herself wouldn't have told me this was her debut novel, I would never have thought so!

Seriously this book surprised me so much. I think it's hard to feel unique or fresh within this oversaturated Romantasy world, but Alysa has done an amazing job in setting herself and Starhunt apart from the rest, and in all the best ways!

I thought it was very interesting getting the POV from our two main characters, Talla and Kieran, and who are on opposing sides when it comes to what to do with the stars, and who both fell that they are unequivocally right in their beliefs. And both characters are so likable, that I truly don't know who is right and who is wrong!

I also felt that the star magic was so unique, and is not something I had read before. I am very curious to see how the events and revelations of the final chapters of the book play out in book 2. Bravo, Alysa!!!

✨ ARC Review – Star Hunt ✨
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Star Hunt is an excellent story with a magic system that feels fresh and truly unique.

We follow Talla and her band of misfits on a daring mission to obtain—or steal—stars that hold immense power, returning them to their rightful place. On the other side, Kieran, a Star Hunter working for the king, seeks the same stars but for a very different purpose: to return them to the sky at the king’s command.

This sets up two powerful belief systems—those who worship a star-filled sky and those who believe the stars belong on earth to heal the land and its people.

The characters are easy to root for, and I enjoyed learning more about each of them as the story unfolded. With a blend of adventure, moral questions, and starlit magic, Star Hunt is a captivating read that leaves you pondering where true power belongs.

I cannot wait to read book 2!

A magical adventure unlike any I have ever read. Starhunt follows Talla, a thief, and Kieran, the King's Star hunter, both on the same quest of collecting stars but for very different reasons. This is a true enemies to lovers story. Talla is fierce, powerful, and loyal to her people. Kieran is strong, merciful, and just trying to do his best for his King and homeland. The world building was fantastic, the magic system unique, and a strong plot with romance mixed in! Both sides of the star hunt were so compelling I truly couldn't tell you who is right about where the Stars belong. I can't wait to see where this story goes. Thank you Alysa Misfeldt for the ARC!

I’ve never read a romantasy and generally steer away from fantasy, but this felt very grounded and the star magic was approachable while still adding intrigue. The pacing was great and I never felt bored in reading. I’m excited to learn and understand the characters more in a future book 2!

Such a fun debut novel! This book had everything I look for in a romantasy book AND left me with so many questions for the inevitable (hopeful) follow up volumes. There was a great mix of both plot and character development, and a unique take on a fantasy world. I look forward to diving more into the world and magic system as the series unfolds!

I don’t usually write reviews, but this book absolutely deserved one. The pacing was fantastic and the magic was so unique (I’ll never look at the sky the same again). This book started off with a found family that I instantly vibed with and turned into a page-turner that somehow feels nostalgic. It was like stepping into an adventure you didn’t know you were longing for. If you’re in the mood for a thrilling journey with depth and an enemies to lovers romance, this one’s for you!

A thoroughly enjoyable read. Starhunt is a very unique, original fantasy story that sucks you in from the start. The author paints a picture in such a way that you can really feel the environment but she does it without unnecessary adjectives or over-the-top descriptions. Her writing flows very naturally. I thought the use of back-and-forth first person narratives of the main characters was a very compelling way to develop those characters as well as to advance and expand the plot. I found myself continually and genuinely surprised that I was reading this authors first book. What a gift she has! I'm looking forward to reading the next chapter in the tale. Revel in the darkness!

Starhunt is a beautiful blend of adventure and emotion. The stakes feel enormous, the magic system is fascinating, and the characters grow in meaningful ways. Alysa Misfeldt has created a world that feels both mythic and fresh. If you love fantasy with strong leads, moral gray areas, and star-crossed romance, this book is a must-read.
