This book has some good advice on doing what you can and letting God do the rest, but what made me drop my review from 4 stars to 3 was the discussion questions in the chapter on suffering. One read, "Knowing that God only allows suffering if it's for my good, how do I think he feels when I complain? Do I think it makes him sad?" and another read, "Imagine the Holy Family's sufferings on the flight into Egypt. Imagine Jesus's sufferings on the Cross. How do my sufferings compare to theirs?" I found these questions preposterous, especially considering this book had been recommended to me by a ministry for scrupulous persons. As a scrupulous person, I can say these questions sent me into a spiral, and I CANNOT imagine a universe in which they are appropriate. A) God is not a petulant child who cannot handle our emotions-- If he was, why were there so many Psalms calling out in agony? B) Jesus would not respond to ANYONE'S suffering with, "You think that's bad? I was crucified!" So as much as some of this book was nice, I find the chapter on suffering to be really lackluster and kind of offensive.
Easy read and informative! Emphasize how important anxiety control methods are for spiritual growth. Would recommend this to anyone struggling with anxiety.
This is certainly a book I will keep referring to time and time again. Gary Zimak supplies a step by step method to attain peace in our lives through Jesus. I have never bookmarked so many pages! Definitely worth the read.
