This "book" is a bunch of poorly-written articles from a magazine called "Videomaker" that were just reprinted on fancy paper and bound and sold. They didn't even bother to edit out lines like, "see the back page of this magazine for details." There were a few decent articles, but most of them were painful to read and in some cases the graphics only confused me more (e.g. the chapter on lenses). I learned more from just googling some topics and reading whatever web sites came up.
I decided I would rather watch videos to learn about videomaking. If you feel the same, and this book isn't required reading for a video course you're in, then you may want to skip the book and just browse their web site: http://www.videomaker.com/video. They have some decent videos on many of the topics in the "book."
