One of the best books I've read in my doctoral program! If you are working on--or even considering working on--or planning to work on something related to--a doctorate in education, I cannot recommend this one highly enough.

Butin covers all the components in a friendly style with tons of practical (and often funny) examples, but does so in depth and with enough clear detail to be eminently useful. Even as someone who has written a proposal and is now venturing into the final stretch of dissertation work, I never found anything in here boring or extraneous. Very well done!

This book gives a guideline on preparing for research, writing the dissertation, preparing for the defense, and what to do after you complete. The ideas are broad but give a clear idea of what to expect during the dissertation writing process.
