Building on the Rock #3

How God Used a Snowdrift

Rate this book
A hostile army is rapidly approaching the little Baltic village. Karl and his mother are in fear of their lives. Karl barricades the door to the cottage but his mother reads the Bible. In the end God uses a snowdrift to protect them from the enemy. So how does He do that? Find out by reading the rest of the story and there are lots of other stories in this book too. Read about the snowdrift, a little slave girl and a fierce Lion. You will also read many other dramatic rescue stories as well as about how to honour God. Scriptural references are taken from the King James Version of the Bible and the questions are based on this. Suitable for 7-12 year olds.

The stories seem to get better to me. There was good application and the questions at the end of the chapter are Biblical and probing for the kids.

Good short stories of the hand of God in people's lives. The downside is some are too abrupt and leave the reader wondering what happened. Also, it seems the focal point is solely on the lessons instead of subtly showing them through the stories themselves. Might work for devotional readings with young children.

I did not like this collection of stories as a whole as well as the previous two books in the series.

I'm actually reading book 4 to the kids at nighttime right now. It's fantastic! I'm sure books 1-3 are around here somewhere. :)
Just before I started reading one night, two of the children were arguing over a toy. After I read the first story the eldest child involved said, "I know God wanted me to hear this tonight. I don't even care about the toy anymore."
