On the banks of the Trinity River, Sadie Pepperman is looking for a chance to escape the demands of her in-laws. With her husband’s dead, they want her to marry her brother-in-law so they can take control of her farm. Suddenly, the peace of the day is shattered when her best friend steps too far into the river. Rushing to save her, Sadie meets a handsome stranger that ignites her dormant lust. She sees her friend rescued by a steamship and backs away from Logan Jansen, only to turn her ankle. The agonizing pain leaves Sadie with the inability to walk. Needing help, she offers Logan a place to stay if he’ll help with the chores on her farm. With his agreement, Sadie adds another problem to her list. Now, not only does she have to worry about how to bring her crops in from the field and run her farm alone but she also has to fight her attraction to Logan. Can Sadie end her in-laws’ interference in her life, run her farm alone, and give love another chance?
Anita Philmar likes to create stories that push the limit. A writer by day, and a dreamer by night, she wants her readers to see the world in a new way. With the influence of her children’s sci-fi programs, she likes to play with diverse cultures and places where anything can happen. She enjoys bringing hot romantic moments to life in a great read.
Dear reader,
First, thank you for your love and devotion over the years. You may have noticed. I haven’t released a new book in some time. This wasn’t because I didn’t have stories to write. No, it was more because the characters in my books wanted fuller stories.
Having a love affair with each of my characters, I couldn’t silence their chatter. They wanted their stories told in a deeper, more satisfying way. To silence them, I’ve worked to learn more about my craft to bring their stories alive.
Now the painful part, I want to make sure no one reads my stories in my old voice, so I am removing all my books from every retail site. The good news is I plan to re-release a new rewritten story each month for the next few years.
In Too Deep, by Anita Philmar, is a erotica novella that I read when I needed something to take me away. Take me away it did, to a story full of need, passion and plenty of steam. Widowed much too soon, Sadie Pepperman is left to run the farm her husband bought them. She is looking for the chance to escape her in-laws as they want her to marry her brother-in-law so they can control the farm. A horrific event leads to an untimely meeting of a handsome stranger, Logan Jansen. He ignites her dormant lust only to have her twist her ankle when she becomes flustered. With no one to help her Sadie offers Logan a place to stay if he will help with the chores on her farm. Can they fight their attraction or will they satisfy their unquenchable thirst?
This is a very enjoyable steamy read that I devoured in one sitting. ‘In Too Deep’ contains a strong female lead character in Sadie, and a very swoon worthy leading man, Logan. The chemistry between these two is addictive. It’s only a short read at 71 pages that’s well written, gets straight to the point and moves at a great pace that leaves the reader wanting more. Fantastic sexy story for anyone who is after something quick to take you away from reality for just a little while. Five stars!
I found In Too Deep to be an excellent erotic novella. Anita Philmar did a good job in this limiting format to engage the reader with her crisp dialogue and concise character and setting descriptions. The emphasis was on story and steam, and I must say she delivered both. I will be seeking out more examples of her writing and exploring her full catalog. Well Done. *I received my copy from NetGalley.com in exchange for an honest review.
This is not a book. It's not even a novela. It's a thin excuse to write a series of sex scenes about one dimensional characters. If you want a good historical erotica, the Kate Pearce is the way to go.
