After moving to a new town, Heather Reiner struggles to keep her psychic abilities a secret and establish a sense of normalcy…at least for her overprotective mother’s sake.
But when Heather starts having terrifying visions of a missing boy, she can’t simply ignore them. This time she feels an inexplicable pull to solve the crime, and slowly begins to believe that her supernatural gifts could actually help others.
After meeting Barry, the cute boy next door, Heather uncovers a few interesting facts that might help unravel the mystery. She wants his help, but getting Barry involved also means exposing her “gifts” and potentially putting both their lives in danger.
Because if she’s not careful, these terrifying visions might be driving Heather straight into the killer’s lair.

Having a true passion for romance and HEAs, she took the leap from the young adult genre to romance and never looked back.
Unexpected Love, book two of the Unforeseen Destiny Series, is a #1 Amazon Kindle bestseller in the Medical Romance. Her series, the Bad Boys Redemption, has spent many weeks on Amazon's sports fiction bestseller list.
Kimberly worked as a Registered Nurse for fifteen years before hanging up her stethoscope. When she isn't running her own business, you can find her tucked away writing.
Do you know how most of the books we have nowadays that have powers as a topic is how people discover that they are the different snowflake?
Well, not this time. Heather always had visions and when she was young she actually thought it was something normal. To touch others and see what they did, or the horrible things that happened with them. Until she found out it wasn't.
“Clairvoyant” was the term my therapist used. “Freak” was the term kids at school gave me.
She then started her life of not touching others and not having friends.
That’s how I analyzed my life, waiting for the death of my mundane existence to be able to rebirth into a better beginning.
Until a friend accidentally touch her and she sees how a kidnapped girl was murderer. A girl who was from her school.
After helping the police with information (with a lot of people not believing her, of course), her mother decides that it's time for a change. So they move to a completely different town and start a new life. Even though Heather wasn't happy with it, she pretended she was for her mother.
One thing I’d learned this past year was to tell people what they wanted to hear. That was the easiest way.
Until she sees a vision about a little boy and something really bad happened with him. As she gets into this new mystery she meet some really nice people aaand, as a bonus, a pretty boy
I really wasn’t cold, but I wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity of sharing a blanket with him.
Anyway, it was a really quick and refreshing read. Readnour was able to simply add issues like depression, self judgement and light bullying without being too much and sometimes it's hard to notice, but it was subtle treated. I really enjoyed to read about something that it's easy to see as a con. I will be sincere, if I somebody came to me telling me she saw something about my life, I just would get mad and won't believe it. But imagine you are the one seeing it... Well, it was interesting.
However, in my opinion it was still lacking. The writing style was too simple and it needs some editing. At first I wouldn't even know what was real and what was a view. I got really confused and had to go back to know if I was in the right page. The romance was also kinda soulless. I must say that I finished the book and I can't say that I know or like Barry. I feel like we barely know him. As I noticed, the story around him continues in the next book but the whole mystery + romance feeling could have been much better if we could get to really know and fall in love with him. The secondary characters were also one dimensional and I wish we could have seen more aspects of them.
I must say, I really enjoyed the mystery. Sometimes it wasn't creepy and I could tell the bad guy from the first time I saw him. I wanted to be wrong until the end, which made me doubt a lot of characters. Still, it was kinda predictable, but readable and enjoyable. I recommend it for those days with a bad weather that you are just up to a quick mystery read.
Still unable to sleep, I continued to wonder if this mystery would ever be solved.

“I have visions.”
This was an okay paranormal story, and things seemed to work out fairly well.
It must have been really hard for Heather to cope with her visions, and the bullying that came with them. Having no one believe you when you know something important must have been awful too.
The storyline in this was about Heather discovering where a missing boy was buried, and trying to get the police to believe her, which wasn’t easy. We also got a bit of romance, but not a lot.
The ending to this was fairly happy, although we were left with a bit of a cliff-hanger.
Heather has always been able to see visions of people's experiences when she touches them or items associated with them. They can be living or dead, but any strong emotions and memories come through. This was fine until as a child, she had a vision of a friend experiencing abuse. That was when she found out no one else had these experiences - and that she started to avoid touching other people.
Life went on until she helped find a classmate's murderer and got labeled as a freak in her home town. Now Heather's mom has moved her to another small town to start fresh. Unfortunately, this town has it's own mystery that she is soon caught up in. Along the way, Heather learns to come out of her shell and learns to trust her new friends as they work to solve a 10 year old mystery disappearance of a young boy.
I am a sucker for special ability stories. The author did a good job sucking me into the story. The suspense kept me reading quickly. There were a couple moments I worried there was insta-love, but they dial it back and get to know each other first - and on another positive note,
It also looks like the series will have Heather working on different types of mysteries each time. The preview of the next book shows she sees a vision that the mayor is dirty. I'm looking forward to more from Kimberly Readnour.

Heather Reiner is clairvoyant. After everyone in her old home town starts treating her as if there is something wrong with her she and her mother move to a new town in hopes of starting fresh. As soon as Heather enters her new home though she starts getting feelings that something has happened. After finding an old toy truck Heather has her first vision of a young boy named Johnny.
Visions is a rather quick, easy read with likable characters. Heather was obviously overly untrusting after being treated horribly in the past but finds herself opening up to new friends when they show her they believe in her which was nice. She has a gift that can be used for so much good it's nice that she can start seeing that way instead of thinking it was a curse.
The thing that brought my rating down with this story is that while I still enjoyed it the book was just too easy to hand out the answers to the mystery part. The best way to describe would be handing an artist a paint by numbers and expecting them to be overjoyed. I was just disappointed I wasn't give more suspects and more suspense involved for the reader to figure out who the killer was and what had happened.
Overall, nice plot, nice characters but lacking in the mystery/thriller aspect.

Thanks to the author for giving me a copy of this book to review!
Visions is about a girl who is different than others: she is clairvoyant.
What this means is that if an object, or person, has a deep emotion seated in it, Heather (the clairvoyant chick) will see a vision of what caused the emotion.
At least, I think that's what it means... The exact details of her power weren't really explained.
Anyway, this had a good concept. A girl moves to a new place and encounters a vision of a 10 year cold case. During this, she meets friends and a potential lover, and she fears that she might lose them if they find out her secret. But being drawn to solve the mystery, how can she keep her powers from them? It had mystery, paranormal, romance, and drama. Everything I liked in a book.
But why a 2 rating star, then?
Well, in my opinion, the concept wasn't well delivered.
Not that I'm saying the writing was horrible, because it wasn't. I mean, sure, there were a few grammatical errors and such, but nothing too bad to bother me. Plus, the speaking parts (when the characters talked) seemed pretty fluid and normal, which was great (a lot of writers make them sound too bland, or without feeling).
What I mean is that two of the main parts in this book fell flat to me. What are these parts?
Well, one was the romance. I couldn't really get into it. Well, actually, by the end, I almost hated the romance. In a way, it reminded me a lot of Twilight's romance: super hot and sexy guy meets really awkward acting chick and for no seeming reason at all, they are instantly attracted to each other and fall in love and yadda, yadda, yadda.
Funny thing, though, is that I actually liked Twilight. Because even though the attraction was instant, it was like that for a reason (or some semblance of a reason). This romance was barely even explained, it was just told to you by little snippets of "it was easy to talk to him" or "his sexy smirk that made me melt." It was just so hard for me to like Heather's love interest when his only defining characteristic was "sexy."
The other part of this book that fell flat was the mystery. Which was a big bummer, seeing as it was the main thing that drew me to read this.
I really like detective stories, and any book with fun and unexpected twists in it really makes me happy. But this book was so predictable for me. I'm not even joking when I say that I had predicted every "twist" in this story. And the big who-dun-it question was so easy that I almost cried (not really, but you know what I mean).
I don't really like reading a book when I can figure out the ending in the first few chapters. It's even worse if the majority of this book is focused on that "mystery."
So, yeah, you could say that I most likely won't be reaching for the sequel.
Heather is a reclusive seventeen year old with the gift of second sight, which allows her to see events that happened to people just by touching an object belonging to them. She doesn't consider it a gift, however, she views it as a curse. Labeled by her peers as a 'freak' and ridiculed for her ability, her mom moves them to a new town, hoping to start fresh. Only the house they move into has a dark history, and for Heather, the visions start again. I have to say, this is not usually my choice of genre, but I am so glad I was given this book to review. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. It was very well written. You can feel the pain and turmoil Heather suffers as the visions grow darker and intensify. The plot was well thought out, extremely well written, and full of suspense and mystery. It did indeed, remind me of the Nancy Drew books I loved as a kid, with a twist, of course. The story is heart wrenching at times, but not too overly dramatic. Ms. Readnour did a wonderful job with this story and I cannot wait to see where Heather takes us next.

Visions: Is a Young Adult Paranormal Mystery. Heather, who's far from a typical teenager, finds herself under the microscope of her home - town. Heather hears the names thrown at her like "Freak" amongst other labels. She lives her life in solitude, keeping herself separated from everyone her age. Heather finds her Gift difficult to deal with and wishes to be ordinary; But then again what is normal? Heather is clairvoyant...
Heather and her mother end up moving house, in the hope of a fresh start, A new beginning; Little do they know this town holds an array of secrets and horrors. Heather unearths a mystery and begins working towards solving this unattractive secret with her new friends.
There is no knowing what ugly secrets will be discovered, in this action packed story.
I feel this is a very enjoyable read, you will find it packed with; action, and unsolved mysteries. I feel the story is steady, too fast paced, it was hard to place the book down for any length of time. The mystery aspect has great structure; I enjoyed heathers unraveling the horrors bit by bit, and solving Johnny's story. The character's are well developed, and we're easy to connect with; they along with the story flowed wonderfully.
Overall, I found this a very well written story, you have; Action, mystery; murder, romance; sadness, and hope. What more could you desire from a book

Actual Rating: 3.5
This was a great read. It was interesting and I liked how the story was well-written. The storyline was about Heather coping with her visions, while dealing with bullying and her mother. The story was cool, fast-paced and kept me engaged.
The characters were great. Heather and Barry are great and very likeable. Their romance is sweet, and not the main point of the book. Can't wait to read Deceptions next. Thank you Kimberly Readnour for the opportunity to read this book. Overall, an enjoyable read.
I absolutely loved this book. From the beginning I was sucked in and didn't want to do anything until I found out what happened. At the beginning I felt like it was super fast and about the last chapter where Heather was kind of mentally recovering from the whole ordeal was a tad slow but the last few pages picked up when the author started kind of talking about the next book or better leading up to the next book. Anyway I felt like the writing was good. VERY good. The author really kept me glued. I love psychic books and I especially love a psychic book with a who done it! Great book looking forward to the next!

I love mysteries, you probably know that. What I love even more are mysteries with a supernatural touch to them, which is what Visions was. It was just amazing! I really loved this book! Plus it was an Amazon freebie when I got it!
I really liked the characters in this book, I especially loved our main character Heather! I felt so bad because all she wanted to do was help whenever she had these visions, but it just seems to make things worse.
She’s really tried to work with her ability, but it’s not easy, especially not when the people around her just don’t understand. And then if she tries to ignore the visions, as much as she tries, she just can’t. Especially not when someone’s life is at risk. It’s the type of person she is. And that’s why I loved her! I also really liked Barry, her cute, new neighbor. He was very sweet and kind and so understanding! However, the one thing that bugged me about him was that from his point of view, his relationship with Heather felt very instalove-y. Ugh! I’m glad Heather was more thoughtful about this, actually taking the time to think about whether she loved him and whether she was ready to tell him if this was so. She is just a smart girl—I love her!
I loved this book overall! It was very sweet and thrilling with an awesome supernatural ability! That crazy thing with the little boy who’s in trouble... yikes! The end almost made me cry, honestly. I highly recommend it if you like mysteries with a paranormal twist and a sweet romance!
2.5-3.0 I really liked how this book started out. It grabbed me from the get-go. I was definitely intrigued and wanted to know more about Heather and her abilities.
The writing flowed very nicely and it took me with it.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I don't read a lot of YA books, but being a believer Clairvoyance etc and an individual who enjoys reading and watching stories/shows that are based around psychic investigation, I decided I wanted to give Visions a try.
I'm glad I did. Heather is a likeable teenager with a very wonderful gift that has unfortunately made her the "outcast" in society. She takes the approach most teenagers, or well people, might take when she has a gift that closed-minded people can't wrap their head around, and closes herself off. An approach that has served her well up until her mother decided to move them to another state.
Luckily - and in the long run - the move of area proves to be a good choice - even if it seems to be a difficult and sad choice for a while - and Heather soon discovers that there are some open-minded people in the world.
Barry, her first real friend, is a sweet, lovely, funny seventeen year old lad who just gets her from the beginning and encourages her to be herself, even if he can't always relate to her. Barry proves to be a good and supportive influence that comes in to her life and is able to not only pull her out of her shell, but give her the strength she needs when she feels like she is flagging.
Nicole is a sweet secondary character who backs-up the theory that there are some believers in the world, and proves to be extra support for Heather in a way that Barry can't be.
The visions - Heather's visions - are subtle and skilfully placed throughout the story, never breaking flow or pace; you always know where you are at when she sees something. The link that brings and eventually bonds all the characters together - though gruesome and sad - made the serious and heavy plot deeper, sweet, and more heartfelt. You really feel for everyone and when the book reaches its climax and justice is served you can't help but feel satisfied for all involved.
Visions is a great read. The pace is great, it doesn't drag or get confusing; everything flows and you just want to keep reading. The last couple of chapters hint to possible matters and discoveries, which will hopefully take place in book two of the series, Deceptions. Not to mention the teaser of a vision Heather has in the final chapter which indicates that the next book is sure to be as interesting as the first. I for one can't wait to read it.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars **I received a copy of this book from the author on a read to review basis in exchange for an honest review.** My main problem with this book was the fact that some of the apostrophes were missing and that one aspect was quite predictable. That said, I still found the book interesting, well-written, and fast-paced. The writing in this book was very detailed, explaining the situation Heather, the main character was in--the fact that she can see visions. It also had detailed descriptions of people and places, making the setting vivid and setting up the action of events for future scenes. Since the book was told from Heather's point of view, I felt that the writing style allowed the action to build, letting me see into Heather's thoughts and feelings. The pacing in this book was just right, although I wish the book had been a little longer so that we could have seen a little more development. However, I thought that the pacing of the action was just right, allowing me to digest events as they happened and not overwhelming me. On the other hand, I think that some events could have been expanded to show the growing friendships in the story and to explain events from the prologue. Even though some things and relationships could have been expanded upon, I really liked how the author developed a plotline apart from the mystery. Showing the relationships between Heather and the friends she makes allowed the story to remain light, despite the mystery and feelings of being an outcast Heather had. Overall, I thought Visions was well-written and paced just right. I really enjoyed the mystery aspect of the novel as well as the relationships that began to develop and would recommend this to people looking for a quick mystery. I am going to be continuing with the trilogy to see how Heather and her friends grow as characters as well as find out what happens next.
This book was a nice unexpected surprise. I was drawn in to it by its concept and the plot. Heather, the main character, is a little bit different from everyone around those because she has a gift. Her special abilities have made her hide away from those around her and it works for a while. However, the plan doesn't work when her mother makes them move to a new state. Over time the new move proves to be a good re-start for Heather because she meets her friends Nicole and Barry. Through them she starts to get a support system that wasn't there before. It also helps that Nicole believes in Heather's abilities and their bond is built strong because of that. The visions were the most interesting section for me of the book since I love the experiential and clairvoyance factors. The unknown and things that exist but we can't prove are fascinating and the way that the author described the scenes really made the book for me. :) The pace was well done and it didn't feel too rushed or like it was dragging down. With every chapter that I read the story kept getting more and more interesting and I needed to know what was going to happen. Overall the author did a great job and I definitely cannot wait to read more! :)
This book was great! I would love the read the next book too. I enjoyed the story for a clairvoyant teenager. I think the author was a great storyteller for me with this book. I have not read anything from this author before would I would gladly again. * I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review*
This was an amazing book that kept me interested and wanting more from the first page. I just went to the book store to buy the rest of the series but unfortunately no book store in Canada has it! :( So I'll have to hunt for it online
I highly recommend this book to anyone who's into mystery and suspense!
Mm.. I had some high hopes for this book, and sadly, they weren't met. Even when I lowered my expectations.
In short, what needed to be long was really short and what needed to be short was way too long.
For starters, I don't like the main character. Not that there is anything wrong with her, and I would usually love someone with her ability, but honestly I just wanted to slap her. . . sometimes without a reason. I didn't like any other of the "main" characters either. I honestly only cared about two characters that are barely there, even though they're a big part of the story.
I also didn't love the fact that everything happened sooo fast. Honestly, one week in her new home (and about 12% into the book) and she already was "breaking up" with her nonboyfriend that she met about five days earlier. Yep. And also, the mystery aspect of it could've been amazing. But it wasn't. Again, everything was rushed and the mystery was halfway resolved (and completely resolved for us with a brain) before even 40% of the book. It was a bit sad.
Alsoooo, everything is resolved by the mark of 70%. After that? It's just about Heather's relationship and how she has changed and so little time and blah blah blah. But since I don't care about Heather or her boyfriend or her friends or her mother, I was annoyed out of my mind.
It really bothered me that this was pitched to me as a clairvoyant/mystery/fantasy/paranormal. It felt more like a romance book than anything else. We spent about only 30-40% of the book dealing with the mystery, the clairvoyant aspect of it was mentioned throughout the entire thing, but the rest was just romance.
And I was excited about the clairvoyant thing. And there was so little of it.
I loved this book. The story flowed smoothly and was a very fast read. I will continue on with this series as I like the main characters and can't wait to see what happens next.
What a great start to the series! I loved this, and devoured the whole thing way to quickly! Heather is our main character, and she's been burned before so keeps her "secret". That is until she moves and meets Barry ;) Unbeknownst to Heather, the house she's currently living in has somebody attached to it, that didn't end very well. Brilliant read and very well written. Bring on the next!
This is a really good book. I started reading and was up until four in the morning trying to finish it because I wanted to know what happened next. I found it on Amazon and there are two other books in the series that I bought. Deceptions and Vanished.
The fact that this reminded me of "Sunshine Girl" for half of the story concerned me. But then the main character started using her abilities to help an active case. And that's where I became hooked.
The ending left two mysteries open leading me to believe that I'll need to read the next one.
Visions (The Mystical Encounter #1) by Kimberly Readnour *I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review * This is the first book that I have read from Kimberly Readnour and I have to say that I was very impressed! I felt so bad for Heather at the start of this book at how rejected she was for having such a useful gift. Once she got involved in a very heart wrenching situation, she showed her strength. The book as a whole was awesome and all the characters were well rounded. I can't wait to find out what happens in the next one!!

Visions is book one of a young adult mystery thriller trilogy.
Kimberly Readnour from Amazon: I have always enjoyed reading books, but within the last five years discovered my passion for writing. Ever since childhood, I imagined writing a novel, but never took the time to pick up a pen. Oops, showing my age... I mean laptop. When my daughter reached her teenage years, I found my reason to start composing those stories.I worked for fifteen years as a Registered Nurse before hanging-up my stethoscope. Now, I run my own business while continuing to write during any downtime.I'm blessed with a wonderful husband and two children. The dynamics in our household changed when my oldest left for college, but I can't say it was bad. Different, but definitely not bad. Each stage of life has been amazing, as to which I'm truly grateful.
'Visions' by Kimberly Readnour captivated my attention. Even though the beginning took me a little bit to get into, once the preliminary introductions of characters and the idea of main character Heather's visions were explained, I sped through the story with deliberate ease.
Heather's visions come to her at any time, dependent especially on touch, whether it comes from a person or an object. Even though this quality of clairvoyance should be something to be admired and respected, Heather is instead shunned by her peers and made to feel as though this characteristic gives her a freak-like quality that defines her. Being a teenager in the midst of attending high school doesn't make her life any easier. Judgment and stares follow her no matter where she goes.
That is until she moves to a new town. She's certain she doesn't want to open herself up to anyone in any way ever again after what happened to her last, but she finds herself drawn to Barry, the grandson of her next-door neighbor. When he drops by to help she and her mom unpack when they first move in, sparks fly and a relationship is the only natural outcome. Despite her guarded nature, she allows Barry in, only to be upset by the fact that when it is revealed to him about her visions, he tells his friend Nicole without getting Heather's permission first. This is all cleared up in time, as Barry and Nicole's old friend Johnny went missing ten years ago, and Barry only told Nicole about Heather's ability since she had been close with Johnny and her uncle was the lead detective on the case that has since gone cold.
Working with Barry, Nicole, and Detective Tanner, Heather finds herself embroiled in the mystery of what happened to Johnny and the worry over a new seven-year-old boy who, they fear, will go missing as well. Passions run high, professionally and personally, in this intriguing story that combines newfound friendship and acceptance of oneself with a mystery that will certainly keep you on the edge of your seat, reading until your curiosity is fully satisfied. The story does end on a cliffhanger, but it will only make you that much more eager to read the next installment in Readnour's series.
Beth Rodgers, Author of 'Freshman Fourteen,' a Young Adult Novel
It's been a while since the last time I've read a mystery book. It's not a part of my favorites genres to read, but once in a while I get the urge to read something different and I'm glad that I gave this book a chance.
Heather is a girl that often wished she could be just a normal girl like the rest, but her visions takes that away from her and when she moves to a new and smaller town, she's afraid that it's just a matter of time before everything that happenes in her old city, happens again in their new home.
I guess I understand a lot about Heather's way of avoiding people. I don't have visions but I often am wary of sharing my inner thoughts with someone, so Heather reluctance in trying to make friends is more than understandable to me. Of course that Barry makes it very easy for Heather to open herself up.
I like how the romance is cute and doesn't take the main seat in the book plot. I like that Barry isn't just understanding of Heather but also eager and helpfull to make Heather use her gift and not fearing it.
I particulary like how the mystery unveils itself, it makes me anxious to read as fast and as much as I can and at the same time makes me want to slow down to enjoy it better.
Some people may think the romance seems to develop too fast, but I think the pace is good enough for me and seems to fit the book just fine. I like how the romance develops and the friendships helps with the mystery of the book.
I’ll be honest, I have never read a book having to do with clairvoyance before. I’ve read plenty of stories about people with “abilities” but I don’t think clairvoyance really fits into that category. Some people believe there are these types of people out there- I am not one of them.
So, it’s a good thing I was reading fiction, right? I really really enjoyed this book. The story centers around a teenage girl named Heather who sees things. If she touches someone or something that belonged to them, she sometimes sees visions of things that have happened to them. That makes her the perfect Nancy Drew. Heather and her mom move to a new town to run from a town full of people that treated Heather like a freak because of her visions. You can guess the effect those people had on Heather. She must struggle to overcome her aloofness, trust issues, and other problems to solve a disappearance of a little boy that happened 10 years ago.
Spirits and what not mostly turn me off of books but I oddly liked the way Ms. Readnour handled it. Those were actually some of my favorite parts. As for characters, Heather was quite endearing when she wasn’t having an inner monologue about how she can’t open up to people. She did tend to repeat herself but I was able to get past that because the story was very good and I loved all of the secondary characters. Ms. Readnour has this way of making us see what some of the other characters feel without over describing even though the entire book is from Heather’s POV.
Overall, I really did like this book. I give it a smidge over 4 beautiful stars and can’t wait to dig in to book 2!
This book was so good read as often as I had time it was one that will keep your interest but was unhappy how it ended left you hanging I guess you have to order the next book if you want to know how it ends I don't like when it ends this way
