This is my absolute favourite of the series! It combines elements that are so meaningful to me from previous books with new, incredibly riveting ones into, what was for me, a definite 5 star read.

I love the Halfling House stories for the exceptional found family rep Ms Vassallo has built on the unwavering foundation of the FMC's devotion to her halfling fosters. She has made Ellie even more of an admirable person by making her the goddess of compassion, mercy and pity, and shows in each book that while those qualities are often disparaged these days, they are really strengths and not weaknesses. I saw the truth of that more than ever in this book. Plus, we got to see Ellie making new friends, all the while being the worrier she is. The author writes her cogitations so empathetically that I am walking in her shoes, not rolling my eyes at her insecurities because they make sense.

Alliance With Halfling House melds all of that with intrigue and political manoeuvring from the Greek pantheon gods who are playing bigger roles as the series progresses. It was a lot of fun watching them - from my perspective, at least! Courtesy of the author's skillful writing I could slip easily into Ellie's mind and feel her anxiety or relief at the interactions. I really liked how Medusa was portrayed and would love to see more of her.

Shade is still holding a prominent place on the page and will always be a fascinating character for me since so little is known about him. I like how we get to follow his maturation but are still witness to vulnerabilities.
This is the penultimate book in the series and while I was hooked immediately and happily surrendered hours to the sheer reading pleasure it brought, I am sad to be getting closer to saying goodbye to the Briarmoor community.

Ellie has asked the magicals from Briarmoor to come together for a meeting so she can ask them to join an alliance with her allies from the Greek Pantheon. The only problem is she doesn't know anyone in town, aside from the Faoladh, who will trust them enough to join this alliance. Now Ellie must get past her fear of getting close to people and her difficulty making a normal cup of coffee so she can get to know the town and I ride them to her Greek pantheon family as well.
Ellie is such a worrier and she definitely can think up more problems than could ever actually happen. She will over analyze and try to micromanage to keep things running smoothly. But in this book, she is finally starting to figure out that everything isn’t always going to be as bad as she thinks. She has a wonderful support system with Mason, Clara and even Shade.
This book was so wonderfully low stakes. There was so much character building in this book and I loved it. The way that Ellie was able to meet more of the magicals of Briarmoor and make connections was heartwarming. Even adding in some of the Greek gods and goddesses was heartwarming as well. There is definitely a new side of Medusa you will have never seen before. I loved this book and can’t wait for the next one.

This novel has Ellie living what I consider to be an introvert's worst nightmare - having to be social. She has to get to know and be known by the residents of Briarmoor in order to protect her babies, so she goes forth and: gets a part-time job as a barista (despite her lack of ability to make drinkable coffee), speak at a townhall meeting, volunteers to help set up and run a community festival (for mundanes and magikals), and 'control' the various members of her extended family who are popping into town. It is good that: 1. Ellie is stronger than she thinks; 2. she has more friends than she thinks; 3. she has Mason. My money is on Ellie for the win!

What fun it is to be back in Briarmoor with El, Mason and all the halflings, magickals and now also gods and goddesses.
While El turned Briarmoor into a sanctuary, she has to work to get the majority of the people there to agree to that. And that can only happen when she opens up to the community and learns how to make coffee ofcourse.
While the fight is not with Zeus, El has a hard time with lots of conversations, learning to open up, seeing new people, and doubting her own abilities and worth.
This all is written in such a way that you keep on reading and rooting for El.
I would like to live there in Briarmoor!
I am curious about the next installment, what everyone will do, learn, participate in and love.

A real heart warmer of a book

The Halfling House crew really stake a claim on your heart, with their family of apparent misfits, all in the care of Ellie/Eleos.

The Alliance with Nyx and some of the other gods and goddesses has still not been decided upon and Ellie needs to show the people of Briarmoor that she and the children are part of their community, to help them trust her and agree to the alliance.

It’s fair to say that things liven up, as immortals arrive to help Ellie get the townsfolk onside. There are some lovely lighthearted moments, as well some that tug on your heartstrings. This is a throughly enjoyable read and I can’t wait to see what happens next, with the inevitable clash with Zeus still to come.

This series is absolutely phenomenal. I love the real and found family. I love all the characters. I love all the shenanigans the littles get into. I love the way gods and goddesses from across the pantheons are brought to life and live among each other in the tiny town. I can't say enough good things. If you enjoy found family in your urban fantasy then you'll love it too! Thank you to the author for the early copy. This is my honest and voluntary review.

I find this series so very heartwarming, and this latest shows why. Ellie is trying to win over the down so they will choose to join the alliance to keep Zeus in check, and she has to find a way to do that. One way is to work at the coffee shop. Yes, the coffee shop. LOL! I found this book to be fun and interesting especially when Ellie’s family comes to town and meets the townspeople. We learned more about Ellie, her family, and the history of her halflings. While I wish this had a little more suspense, I still loved this heart-warming addition to the series. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Absolutely wonderful series

This is a well written, engaging series, but more than that, it is a story of treasuring the differences among us and love for all. It's about the strength of a mother's love for children of her heart, not her body. Read this, it will leave you with a wonderful feeling
