J.M. Gokey is a self published fantasy and horror author. Her debut novel is The Chosen. When not writing, she is an avid reader, and always caffeinated. She lives in Ansonia, CT with her husband and son.
I saw this new release posted the other night & thought feminine rage & only 18 pages, that’s perfect for me right now 😌👌🏻
Jennifer desperately wants a baby, but after multiple miscarriages her marriage is now rocky to say the least. Nick would rather go out & drink than be with his wife. After having multiple tests done she finds that she’s not actually the problem, it’s his DNA that’s broken not hers. Soooo she’s going to fix that for herself & get “rid” of the problem 😌
This is a brilliant short read! I’m sure I’ve read this before maybe in the our wombs your torched remains anthology? Either way I loved it! A great little feminine rage read!
This is currently available on KU so makesure to check it out!
A woman who has had multiple miscarriages is getting down on herself and the situation that is her wanting a baby so bad, When one day she goes out and finally gets pregnant and is going well, she realizes that it’s her husbands fault all along and she plans revenge.
This was such a fun story about female rage and revenge. Her husband had absolutely everything coming to him.
My problem with ( most ) revenge horror is that the revenge doesn’t feel earned, or the bad guy is so over the top mustache twirling villain that it isn’t believable. This one feels real. The world is alive. The couple is dissatisfied and dysfunctional. And when the violence comes, it feels like the story has given you enough to feel the pain. Great short story
By JM Gokey, short story Broken has a lot of potential. It is a very quick read with about 18 pages. The only negative thing was the narrator. The author used Winter Waverly and in my opinion it was the worse. However, I felt I could’ve keep on reading a few more chapters. Ended too quickly. A lot of revenge, infertility, infidelity and all that good stuff.
Ooof! This was beautifully written and depicts the absolute heartbreak that comes with infertility. If that is a trigger for you, be aware! This main character is brought to desperation and pure insanity by it.
There’s nothing better than a short and punchy feminine revenge, where everyone deserves what they get, both good and bad!
I listened to the audiobook and although not a fan of the narrator, the story was so good that it didn’t matter in the end. This is very short, but oh so satisfying! The author manages to build up the rage and thirst for revenge so well, that the ending feels twice as rewarding!
This is for all those women that have been weighed with guilt and blame for no reason, and although not directly relatable to me, I felt the main character’s rage so strongly!
If you’re ready for some revenge horror that hits the right spots, go ahead and get it.
Thanks to the author for the audiobook and this is my honest opinion.
