Fantastic bible story book integrating an old and New Testament story for each 'key question' and chapter theme. I really appreciated how they dove-tailed the old and New Testament together. Beautifully illustrated as well. When we finished it, we just began again!

Believe Storybook is an incredible book that teaches core beliefs about God and encourages children to Think, Act, and Be like Jesus. There are 30 chapters in the book with a story from the Old Testament and one from the New Testament, so there are 60 stories from the Bible included! The book discusses Beliefs, Practices, and Virtues of a Christian life and makes it understandable for children in a fun and loving way. Believe Storybook asks the child a question and then through the story, has the child seek that answer.
Believe Storybook is the children's edition of the Believe books by: Randy Frazee, who is the senior minister at a large church in Texas. I also found a Believe Coloring Book in my local Christian store that goes along with the stories in this book, which makes it even more enjoyable for a child of any age. The Believe Storybook is a large, hardback book with over 250 pages of illustrations that are beautifully breathtaking by Illustrator, Steve Adams.
In today's world, our children are being taught about the Bible but some are not making that heart connection in how to apply it to their lives. This book not only is about telling of the Bible stories, but it explains why these stories are so important. It is about teaching children about their faith and having it stick. For adults who do not have the knowledge of the Bible, it is a great resource for both adult and child to read together and learn. For the adult that does have this knowledge, it is seeing it in a different way and renewing and refreshing the faith we have in God.
I am going to let you all in a little secret. I have not released what curriculum we are using yet for this upcoming homeschool year, but this is the book I will be teaching the boys for our Bible studies! It is a truly incredible book and I am so excited. It is perfect because it has 30 lessons in it, so one lesson a week. I would highly recommend this book to anyone. It is not just a book to be enjoyed by a child, but a book that will become a family favorite and have the kids saying, "Read it again! Read it again!"

When Jesus Christ is accepted as Lord and Savior that's only the first step of a life-long journey toward spiritual maturity and a personal "best friend" style relationship with Christ. Yet for some, the journey begins and ends with acceptance and a personal relationship is never nurtured or allowed to develop. So do you believe and can you talk easily about what you believe in and why?
Christianity.com reported "Bible illiteracy is a scandal" based on 2014 surveys that revealed most people couldn't name every one of the disciples or list all Ten Commandments and some even thought “Sodom and Gomorrah were a married couple." In the March 2016 issue of U.S. News, Alan Neuhauser reported, "Prayer, Belief in God Sinks to All-Time Low in U.S...according to decade's long surveys" taken from 1972 to 2014.
However, Randy Frazee senior pastor of San Antonio, Texas Oak Hills Church still believes the Bible is "the greatest story ever told." To encourage Bible reading he condensed The Story Bible into a story format of scriptural truths. That book led to The Story Church Campaign in 2014 and the release of Believe Storybook: Think, Act, Be Like Jesus, Believe Kid's Edition and Believe Student Edition in 2015. What follows are two positive and one negative review of the three books.

I love beautiful storybook Bibles, and over time I’ve developed quite a collection. So, when I saw the Believe Storybook: Think, Act, Be Like Jesus, I knew that I wanted to take a look at it and see about adding it to our collection.
The Believe Storybook is geared toward children 4-8, and contains 60 Bible stories. These Bible stories are arranged around key questions of the Christian faith in how one might think, act and be like Jesus. There are thirty chapters and each chapter has a key question, an old testament story, a jump to Jesus, a new testament story and a Jesus answer for parents and children to explore.
An example of this occurs in the chapter on love. This is in the section on being like Jesus. The key question is “What does it mean to sacrificially, unconditionally love others?” The old testament story is the story of David and Jonathan’s friendship. Then, there’s a “jump to Jesus” which is a couple of paragraphs discussing the old testament story relating it to Jesus. Next, comes the new testament story of how the good shepherd loves his sheep. Finally, there’s a page summing up the concept and how they can apply it in their lives along with a key idea sum up and a key verse that relates to the concept. In this example, the key idea is “I will try hard to love God and love others.” and the key verse is “Since God loved us this much, we should also love one another.” from I John 4:11.
The large hardcover collection of stories is beautiful, and my children love the stories and illustrations. I like the idea of thematically collecting stories and pairing them together. However, I found some of the story pairings to be awkward and some of the commentary pieces to be a little heavy-handed in moralistic works. Still, this volume is a beautiful collection of stories, and even though it is perfect for my preschoolers, even my 8 and 10 year old enjoyed flipping through the volume and discovering the stories and ideas contained within.

About: This book teaches life lessons through God's Rules and teaches how to be more like Jesus. This storybook covers many of the most important stories from The Bible. Each chapter starts with a simple topic and there are prompts written to encourage children to answer the key questions to comprehend what the chapter is about. These are simple questions that children any age can answer. Then each passage delivers a simple version of Biblical stories that can be easily understood. The illustrations are beautiful and relevant to the stories in each chapter. At the end of each chapter is a section highlighted called "The Jump To Jesus", and in it it summarizes the chapter read and how Jesus would have acted in each situation and how the story relates to him and his teachings.
Impressions: First of all, I am proud to say that I had an amazing opportunity to grow up with grandparents who took me to church every Sunday. I was blessed to learn about God at an early age. I am trying to find helpful ways to encourage that same love and interest with my own children. As a mother, I look towards books such as this one, and I found this one very helpful. It was engaging and the questions make it interactive and that is very important when you have small children.
I loved this book. So did my daughters. We will continue to use this book to aid in Bible Study for our homeschooling as well as for leisure reading.
This hardcover book is pretty big, heavy, and sturdy. I mean, next to my hand, it's huge. It's a coffee table book that you will want to leave out on display, because it's too nice, and beautiful to shove on a shelf! The illustrations are beautiful and on point. The stories contain Bible verses for referencing and I really liked that. I will recommend this book to all my friends.
Watching my children fall in love with reading has been such a joy for me this year! Reed actually just got the reading award in first grade and I couldn't be more thrilled! The little boy I used to have to force to do his reading is now described by his teacher as always having a book in his hand!

He eagerly checks out any book I give him and the Believe Storybook was no exception! He gobbled it up like he does all books!
My family does devotions together every night and this is centered around a children's devotional book or Bible. We just finished our last storybook Bible that was basically just all the major stories that we read to our children in a very simple, young format.
Reed is now seven and does most of the reading to fulfill his requirements from school. Paige is five and just finishing Kindergarten. She usually answers the questions found at the end of the chapter. It took almost a year to get through our last book and they both grew and changed so much this last year that they definitely outgrew the book and were ready for something more mature.
I really like that the Believe books from Randy Frazer have versions available from the tiniest of tots through young adult. This Storybook version is for ages 4+ and it's just perfect for my older kids.
They were really excited to dive in to a new book and we all liked the bug, larger than life size. It makes it easy for young hands to hold and grasp and especially when it's spread between the laps of two children.
When I read the foreword first I was really excited! The format of this book explores the themes of the Bible like love and forgiveness. While it doesn't go from Genesis to Revelation like most, it does include some of those favorite Bible stories that kids know and love. The focus instead is more on the purpose and meaning of the stories instead of just the facts.
I feel like this is the perfect transitional storybook to take my kids faith to the next level and I'm so exited about what we will all learn from Believe!

My Review:
Teaching our children to read and study the Bible is a huge asset to their Christian walk. It has to be done in order to grow spiritually. I as a Christian mom started my children out very young and we usually begin with simple Bible stories. Pastor Randy Frazee has developed a new strategy that he thinks will further their learning even more. He has taken stories that give a different approach to learn about God's majesty as our Creator and about our Savior as well. So there are select stories that build on the theme of thinking, acting and being like Jesus.
Each story that is entirely based on Scripture has a key idea and a key verse. My favorite part is the Jesus answer at the end of each story. It is a pondering of sorts on the lesson itself. It helps the child to think through what they just learned and it becomes a driving force in hitting home for them. There is beautiful illustrations in the book that give you that old history feel. And to top it all off, the Believe series has a kids edition as well as a student edition. These are great books to use in your homeschool, Sunday school, or even in your home for devotional purposes. They have really helped my children and I know they will help yours. Look for my reviews on the other books in the series.
Geared for ages 4-8 years of age.
**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from my participation on the Z Blog Squad.
If you follow my blog you probably already know that I like to dabble in art. So when a book comes along that is beautifully illustrated it just captures my attention. Believe Storybook did exactly that. I love the content of the book and I'm thrilled that it goes along with the rest of the Believe curriculum allowing little ones to study along with the rest of their family. But I have to say that the art work is what stands out to me. I'm going to have to keep my eyes open for more of Steve Adams' work.
This book is set up like the others in that it has three sections that speak about how to think, act and be like Jesus. Laurie Lazzaro Knowlton has helped Randy Frazee adapt the language so that younger children will easily grasp the concepts. This duo did a fabulous job in the overall presentation. The thirty chapters cover the same topics that the Believe Kids' Edition and the Believe Student Edition do but it is designed to be read to 4-8 year olds.
I would recommend this whole series of books to families with multiple age levels of kids. What a nice way to study the same concepts and topics at appropriate levels. The thought of dinner conversations about the Scriptures studied by the whole family just warms my heart. How precious would it be for your six-year-old to be able to talk about Samson and self-control with your sixteen-year-old? Those families that choose to use these resources are definitely going to be blessed!

I am so impressed with Believe Storybook that Zonderkidz has published. This beautifully illustrated book brings the Old and New Testament together to explain to kids (and adults) just what and why Christians believe. Divided into 3 sections (Think, Act and Be Like Jesus) with a total of 30 chapters, this book explores the key beliefs of the Christian faith through questions, Bible stories and commentary. Each chapter begins with a a Key Question, such as Who is God? The narrative then includes an Old and New Testament story illustrating the idea. A Jump to Jesus transition between stories shows kids how the Bible fits together. The chapter ends with The Jesus Answer — a reiteration of the Key Question with Jesus as its focus. A Key Verse allows for Scripture memorization, an important part of knowing just what and why you believe.
I wish I had had Believe Storybook when my kids were younger — it is an informative and entertaining way to teach your kids about God. And in this world where Christian beliefs are under attack, parents need all the help they can get!
Highly Recommended.
Audience: ages 4 and up.
