“Life isn’t about making it to tomorrow…it’s about making today count.”

Hadley Grades life is perfect.

She exists in a perfect world – with a poster board family. She has the big house, with the expensive cars, and lavish furnishings. Her family is healthy and happy.

She has it all.

Until she doesn’t.

After the death of her older brother, Hadley is forced to stand and watch her strong family crumble in the wake of sorrow. But as though facing the death of her brother, and best friend wasn’t enough, Hadley’s father has informed her that he can’t sit back and allow Hadley to meet the same fate her brother met. Unwilling to allow her to remain in the city, he sends Hadley to a Ranch in the deep Alberta Rocky Mountains where he’s certain no temptation will cross her path…and her life will remain intact.

Unable to fight the unstable man Hadley had always known as her rock, she agrees to allow her father to send her away for six months, to experience a different way of life than the Toronto city has to offer.

Hadley arrives at The Donnelley Wild Land Tours Ranch with a bad attitude and a broken heart. The Ranch is the last place she wants to be…until she meets Collin Donnelley in a most humiliating way. Somehow, the man gets under her skin with lady killer grins and cocky innuendos, and in him, she learns to view the world in a different way. He pushes her to experience and to live her life outside the box-like confines of how she thought she should live.

Before long, Hadley is losing her heart to Collin Donnelley, and the biggest player in the Rocky Mountains is losing his heart to a broken girl from the city.

Born and raised in Alberta, Canada, Alannah Carbonneau is only a short drive away from the Rocky Mountains that have a staring place in so many of her novels. With seventeen novels and counting currently available on Amazon, Alannah is not only a full-time author, but a full-time mom of two beautiful boys, and wife to an amazing man who always has her back. She lives in a rambling ranch house that needs way too many renos and has one too many cats, but she is happy and in love.

With a solid circle of friends and family, and a very manly, supportive husband who does his best to make sure his family is taken care of, Alannah’s novels feature manly men (sometimes they can be a LOT manly) and friend/family relationships weaved into the stories, because life is about a whole mess of people, and although this is fiction, the best fiction is sprinkled with sweet (and sometimes not so sweet) bits of reality.

Because she loves romance, Alannah writes Contemporary and New Adult Romance. Soon to be released is the Creekwood Valley Series that has ties to the reader beloved Donnelley Brother Series, where light suspense and romance weave to create titillating stories that not only steal your heart but keep you on the edge of your seat. She is the author of the highly rated Teach Me Series, an emotional read about love, life and lessons learned. Our Dark Design is a standalone erotic romance peppered with enough suspense to keep you turning the pages, and The Choice is an entirely unconventional standalone romance about three.

She is currently working on a Cross World Fantasy Romance Series for Adults she can’t wait to share with you, because this will feature hot men who are a little bit dominant and a lot protective who are head over heels in love with stubborn, magnificent women.

When Alannah isn’t writing or spending time with her three men, she can be found in her garden, or with a paint brush in hand. But no matter where she is or what she’s doing, you can bet that she’s thinking of a love story she can share with you.

“I once doubted I’d ever find a woman I’d want to spend the rest of my life loving. Everyone here knows I’m not the kind of man who inspires fairytales. But Hadley, you’re the woman, the only woman, who makes me want to be the man dreams are made of.” -Collin Donnelley in Taking Chances by Alannah Carbonneau

Having read Counting Stars and A Safe Surrender, Books One and Two in the Donnelley Brothers Series, I awaited Taking Chances anxiously. For those of you unfamiliar with the series, Book One tells the story of Logan Donnelley, the eldest of the Donnelley Brothers. Book Two is about Kyle Donnelley, the second eldest and now Book Three is Collin's story. We met glimpses of Collin in Counting Stars and A Safe Surrender, and truth is, given how Book One and Book Two end, I was a bit concerned how Collin's story was going to pan out.

Well, Alannah Carbonneau has hit the ball out of the park YET again! I'm pleased to say that while Logan and Kyle will forever hold a special place in my heart, mischievous Collin has weaseled his way in too. That cheeky-yet-OMG-I can't-stand-how-adorable-this-man-is isn't entirely the same Collin we were acquainted with in the prior books leading up to this one. I swooned - yes- swooned.

While books one and two focused a lot on the love story between the brothers and their female interests, I found that Taking Chances was more focused on Hadley and her road to healing. I loved her strength and resolve to not cave in to the desires of a man, not until she was absolutely ready. This book felt mature, not as in content, but as in wisdom. I loved the more serious tone behind Hadley's thoughts and actions.

“Yeah, well as you so clearly informed your Mother, Reese, and myself, you’re not the relationship kind of guy - and I’m no easy girl.” Screw sorrow, I was pissed now. “You might like the way I feel, but I’ll never be the kind of girl who loves and leaves.” -Hadley Grades in Taking Chances by Alannah Carbonneau

The author's descriptive and lyrical prose abilities just really make me weep due to its beauty and precision. Just when I thought Ms. Carbonneau had blown my mind away, no, no, she does it again and again. She has created this world in the Alberta Rockies and I swear if I ever go to Alberta and don't find the Donnelley Ranch, I'm seriously going to be disappointed. She has done this series so well, I swear it's real and these Donnelley's are real people! If you haven't read this series, you're seriously missing out.

There are some twists and turns in the story and I have limited myself from providing actual details from the book in fear of providing spoilers and given that I was gifted an Advanced Reader's Copy, I don't want to spoil it for readers.

Taking Chances is the story of Hadley Grades, a twenty year old woman from Toronto who was sent to the Donnelley Ranch to heal after a tragic event that changed her life. There she meets Collin Donnelley, the man-whore lothario Donnelley brother who doesn't believe in relationships and settling down.

What happens next? I leave it up to you to figure it out, dear reader.

If you haven't read the Donnelley Brothers Series, you are seriously missing out. Taking Chances was not the exception. I loved this book and now I'm eagerly awaiting the release of Book Four which is Luke's story, the youngest of the brothers. Horses, stables, mmm, I can't wait!

"You’re it for me - I know that now.”

Five Amazing Stars! Well done, Ms. Carbonneau. Brava.

Book 3, Brother 3, Collin Donnelley is about to meet his match, in the form of Hadley. A girl who has Loved and lost, but not as you think. It is a different kind of love, a love that not every girl can explain. The loss she goes through is unbearable, I don't want to give too much away, but the story behind this is NOT what you think. This book is about a different kind of love, a love through DNA.

She is young, she needs time, she needs space... Mother's know best. 6 months on the Donnelley Ranch is something she does not want to do, but a rocky road towards the river she trips infront of a young man, Collin. Collin sees deep, he see's pain, he see's saddness, day by day he fills in each crack on Hadley's heart, before she know's it Hadley is in love....

With amazing chemistry between 2 characters and great one liners from past characters, this novel, this writer Alannah Carbonneau is coming into her own. She has tightened her laces on those trainers and is hurtling towards the finish line of this amazing Series, The Donnelley Brother's Series.

Alannah Carbonneau is giving her readers 5* reads, and she should be applauded fr this. Thank You Alannah, bring on Book 4!!!!!

Wow!!!!!

Another amazing book written by Alannah Carbonneau, this woman is pure genius, she's a freaking writing extraordinaire , her writing captivates you.

Not many authors have the ability to stop you in your tracks, I literally hadn't realized I'd held my breath, but I had on numerous occasions.

Alannah writes with pure passion and emotion and I think that's portrayed in each and every character.

I was so honoured to be given the opportunity to Arc Read Taking Chances. The Donnelley series is by far one of my Top series of this year.

When I set out to read each Donnelley brothers book I always think to myself, 'I wondered how Alannah is going to make this one different from the last'
But each time she does and im in awe of her for that.

Now lets get to the book.....

Hadley has the hardest thing to do in this book, she has to say goodbye. Goodbye to a loved one, her brother/best friend.  How do you cope after losing the person that means the world to you? The person that pushes you to do different things, be braver, be more spontaneous. They make you want to be a better person.

Hadley had plans for her life mapped out and she was well onto her way to fulfilling her dreams, until one night sees them falling into abyss.

She never expected to lose someone she loved, especially so young.

I've been where Hadley is and the worst feeling in the world, is knowing there's not a thing you can an do to change it. You would give anything to wake up and for someone to tell you "it was all a bad dream." Unfortunately that's not the case and she has to face that her nightmares are real.

Hadley has to leave her dreams behind her, and set of on a new life path...not set by herself, but the choice of a loved one, someone who used to be a rock for her family now was a shadow of his former self and this was her fathers way of regaining control I guess.

Hadley sets off for her 6 month stay at a Ranch in the deep Alberta Rocky Mountains.
All she has with her is a bad attitude her nightmares and measly possessions. I guess she feels betrayed by her loved ones, I mean if they really loved her they wouldn't send her away, to deal with this all alone?!

I can understand her mom and dad though, no one can brase you for the loss of a child. All they want now is to keep their only living Daughter alive and well, but in wrapping Hadley in cotton wool and shipping her off to somewhere they think there are no distractions or harm they are inevitably stopping hadley from living the life she desires.

Once on the Ranch her whole outlook on life changes she meets Collin and exchanges smartmouthed comments and flirty banter. Little does she know he will change her whole life.

Collin is the jack the lad on the Ranch, screwing pretty much anything and no will to settle down, despite his mom's best efforts.

You see Collin flirt with Hadley and her shoot him down, after her over hearing a conversation about her, she would never give him the satisfaction of being right in what he was saying.

In true Donnelly form, you see Collin set out as one thing and do a full 180.

The journey this book will take you on will have you gripping your heart.
You will sit there hooked as the story developes.

I honestly don't want to say anymore on the story for fear of spoiling it for people.

I read half the book in a matter of hours and messaged alannah, to tell her I was going to read a few more chapters then head to bed.
Well I couldn’t do that, there was NO  stopping for me. I had to know there and then how their story ends.

I absolutely can't wait to read the next book in this series, to see what  Donnelly fate has in store for Luke.

If you love heartbreakingly beautiful stories, this is definitely the book for you.
A book of Loss, confusion, heartbreak,  Friendships,  family, love, jealousy and self growth.

Wow, this is Collin's book. After meeting Collin in Counting Stars, I couldn't wait for his story. It was worth the wait because Collin's story is amazing.

Collin is one of the Donnelley brothers. He lives and works on the ranch. He is a big player. I loved the things that comes out of his mouth. Alannah had a tough job in writing a character that readers would find prefect for Collin. Hadley is the character. Hadley is at a rough point in her live. She has just lost her best friend and brother. The beginning of the story is heart wrenching and I was a little teary eyed as we go through Hadley's journey of losing her brother. Hadley is a very likeable character. I loved her right from the beginning. I was absolutely sold that Hadley was perfect for Collin from the way the met. I won't tell you what happens the first time they met but their meeting by far in my favorite of the Donnelley brother so far.

Collin and Hadley's story is great. This one is a definite must read. I can't wait to read Luke's story.

I was very pleased when this talented author asked to read an ARC of her third book in the Donnelley Brother's series.

Having read the previous two books on the series I must admit I am seriously hooked on the stories and Alannah Carbonneau's fabulous writing style.

Each book is a standalone story but they interlink and the story continues in each book.

This story is about the third brother Collin, he is a flirt, a man who loves women but definitely does not love commitment. Hadley is trying to come to terms with a huge change in her life. They meet in the Donnelley Ranch, where Collin leads the water activities on the family ranch. Both of their lives are about to change.

These stories are beautifully written, Alannah's writing is spellbinding and totally draws you into the story.

I highly recommend this story, as I would Counting Stars and A Safe Surrender. I am waiting for Book 4, A Tender Touch which will be out in January 2015.

Hadley has just lost her brother. Her parents send her away so she can bring some light back into her life. Once she gets to the Donnelly Ranch, she is excited to see what's in store for her.

Collin isn't one to settle down. He's a huge flirt but has a big heart. When he first sees Hadley, there's something about her that he likes.

I love the way Collin is attentive to her. I love how he doesn't back down. I love the way Hadley finally let's herself just be in the Moment and live.

I love all of the brothers so far. They each have something significant about them that you can't help but love. The author has done an amazing job. I cannot wait to read the next book!

Alannah's books need to come with a warning label not to start if you don't have time to finish. :) I picked this up at 830 and the next thing I knew it was midnight. I couldn't put it down. I love the Donnelley brothers. Collin is so sweet with Hadley even when hes being a jackass.

I cant wait for Luke's story. Only then the series will be over.

A nicely written book with some lovely touches of humour included. The characters were well written and believable, although this didn't tug at my emotions as much as other authors manage to do. I enjoyed and read this to the end but again it wasn't a page turner type book - just a very enjoyable HEA romance.

The book was a little disjointed at times - skipping a few weeks in just a line or two - and there wasn't enough interaction with secondary other characters from the book. It is written in the first person, solely from Hadley's point of view.

If a straight forward romance is what you like then this is a worthwhile purchase.

Wow!!!!

Another amazing hit!!

I'm truly honoured to be provided with an ARC of this I feel extremely privileged.

The Donnelley Brothers Series is one of my most favourite series I've read.
Alannah Carbonneau never fails to produce the most beautiful and heartfelt story that leaves you breathless and inspired that true love does indeed exist.

Four Brothers , Four Stories and 5* reads

I loved the first two books of this series and eagerly awaited the next book, it was definitely worth the wait and I recommend this 100%

I love how the author takes two personalities from totally different backgrounds and can weave them together perfectly as if they were two halves, only becoming complete after finding each other.

Collin Donnelley is the third brother of four raucous boys that live and work at their family ranch in the Alberta Rockies - the descriptions and scenery the author paints in your mind of the beauty hidden in the Canadian mountains is awe inspiring and will make you want to visit to see it with your own eyes.

Collin is a bit of a man about town and has no desires to settle down or part take in monogamy that is until Hadley Glades enters his world and tips it on it's axis.

Hadley is dealing with a traumatic loss in her life and when she least expects it she finds Collin who is everything wrong for her at this point in her life but at the same time everything right for her too. Hadley is too young to have found 'the one' -isn't she? Or maybe she should grab on to love before it's gone, after all life can be gone in the blink of an eye.

The entire series is so thought provoking and will have any skeptic changing their feeling on the notion of if soul mates truly exist.

Beautiful, stunning and captivating.

Bravo Ms Carbonneau yet again another 5 star triumph!!

Colin Donnelley is the playful brother, the one most determined to never settle. Hadley Grades is suffering the loss of her brother. Her parents and her are all grieving, yet don’t know how to communicate and help each other. When they see that she’s losing herself in grief, they decide to send her away to Donnelly ranch for six months. Hadley can’t believe they want to get rid of her, yet finds no strength to fight and agrees to go.

Hadley has a smart mouth and attitude to go with it. Her first encounter with Colin is one full of embarrassment, but they soon build a friendship that allows her to open up and slowly begin to live again. They’re spending much time together and she finds that some of what he tells her is something that Michael, her brother, would say.

They soon find themselves depending so much in each other and constantly craving and looking to be together. Hadley realizes that he has become very important to her, but his playboy reputation gets in the way. Everyone knows what they mean to each other but will they admit it? Will they give into those feelings and allow themselves to be so much more?

I really enjoyed reading Colin and Hadley’s story. Seeing how different yet similar they were and how soon their friendship grew into something beautiful was very entertaining. Alannah has once again given us a story where love can help heal a broken heart and turn a life full of sorrow into one where the sun shines bright. I found myself reading this book in one day; I just couldn’t put it down. Make sure you pick up this series if you still haven’t done it.

I have enjoyed the previous books in this series and this story did not disappoint. The beginning was sad and you feel for Hadley and her family for their loss. Watching them struggle with the grief was heartbreaking. Following Hadley to the ranch and settle in, you worry if this the right choice by her parents. Things definitely change course after she literally falls at Collin's feet!! Oh and Collin.....what a handful of hot male he is. I was happy to see Hadley hold her own and realize she needed to mourn and heal form her loss and keep Collin at a safe distance, even if her body had other ideas. I enjoyed the pacing of their growing friendship and how they became a part of each others daily routine before they ever crossed that romantic line. I loved their banter and them calling each other out on each others BS. Of course no Donnelley book would be complete with out Collin's meddlesome mother and brothers and their significant others. I laughed along with them and loved sitting back and watching Collin go after his girl when he realized she is it for him. All in all just a great romantic and fun read and looking forward to reading Luke's story next :)

Fairly well written, but needs editing for grammar. This is a stand-alone book about one couple, with no cliffhanger. 3.5 stars, rounded up.

This is the third book I've read in the series, and while I enjoyed it, these characters are much less mature and less likeable than the prior two books. The female lead has led a privileged life. Although not exactly spoiled, she's really had a very protected life. She's also been a goody-two-shoes most of her life, since her brother was the resident risk-taking bad boy. The male lead is an unrepentant man-whore, who despite her repeatedly telling him no, continues to flirt shamelessly with her.

Of course, it's a Donnelley Brothers story, so once his mother and soon-to-be sisters in law are involved, there's only one outcome possible.

Recommended for fans of the New Adult genre, the Canadian Rockies, and HEAs.

So far Collin and Hadley are my favorite couple because you can really see the spark between them but also the development of their story and how they themselves evolve. Full of sass and humour, pain and happiness, this story is another beautiful testimony of the land and the love healing the soul.
