Learn to Talk: My First Words

The National Health Service Speech, Languages and Communication Services department, have compiled a list of the most common words that young children learn to say first. Your child will need to hear these words lots and lots of times before they will attempt to say them. Learn to Talk - My First Words provides colourful images portraying all these first words, so you can help your child on those important first steps. Encourage your child by telling them what things are around the house, modelling the words. Ask them to find you things to help develop their understanding of the word, e.g. ‘get me your hat’, ‘where are your socks?’.

Good. Mostly well chosen pictures. Words that children need to be introduced to and spoken to numerous times as they learn to talk about the world around them.
