“If Peter Rabbit met Coraline in a completely original tale.” “Watership Down, if it were written by T. Kingfisher.”
When Mr. Rabbit doesn’t return home for supper, Mrs. Rabbit leaves the safety of their garden and ventures into the dark woodland beyond in search of him. What she finds is not just a trail of unsettling clues, but the terrible cost she’ll have to pay to be with her beloved again.
A haunting reimagining of classic fables, Mrs. Rabbit blends cozy nostalgia with creeping dread. The ending will leave you breathless.
The first standalone in the Midnight Fables gothic fairytale childhood tales, rewilded as cozy cottagecore horror.
Dear God Almighty, this was disturbing. Beautifully written, perpetually suspenseful, and exhausting tension in all the best ways. A difficult read towards the end, with an ending that was both disturbing and heartbreaking, but phenomenal read that I'll recommend to anyone. I can't wait to see more from this author, especially in the Midnight Fables series.
The creepy sneaks up on you! I went into this a bit clueless and was completely invested in the characters and story and writing style! Even tho it was more disturbing than I expected (only bc I didn’t read anything about it other than just the cover) I really did enjoy it and appreciate the dark gothic fable! Plus the cover art captured my heart immediately.
The author scammed me out of money for a book that never released. Refuses to answer email. Deleted all of her socials. My most recent email was sent back to me as undeliverable. Her site is still up and taking purchases. I also discovered that she uses AI for her work. I’m not interested in finishing this book.
Enjoying the cozy creepy gothic feeling of this book. It rains almost daily here in Florida and I reach for this book and my cup of tea and just read. So thank you for the respite from the days woes and keep writing!!! Love Mrs.Rabbit.
I really loved the plot. but the description on each page for each scene were way to long. it felt like when you needed a certain amount of words in your school paper to pass.
I was really excited for this read, I’m a huge fan of watership down so when I read the description and saw it mentioned I was eager to read. Simply put the story fell flat…majorly. The twist at the end was good but the beginning of the book introduces characters that could have been left out as it makes it out like a murder mystery then it just shifts to a completely different setting. It’s very “breathy” in a sense there is a lot of unnecessary things wrote down. It’s hard to explain but after reading you will understand. Horror? Well there is some but as a person who is a huge scardy cat this book didn’t even make me feel a twinge of anxiety.
