Such a great focus, to pray for your husband and I already have plans to keep praying these verses with other wives in 2022.
Apart from praying for your husband, this book was also about praying for my own heart to change, especially where I could be stubborn and difficult. I really need to be more of a prayer warrior over my family.
Prayer is act of investing in another life; our prayers are an act of love. It is in prayer that love grows, where you fight for your spouse and not against your spouse.
In some ways reading this book is more for me and my good than my spouse. Let me explain. Each 15 verses that were prayers to be prayed for your spouse, I begin to see my weakness in my marriage. It’s funny how we can think it’s always the other person when it is really us. I have no doubt these 15 verses will do well for my husband, but they will do well for me. We do have a responsibility to pray and to pray some more and when it is the word of God, we can be confident that it is his will for our families.
Elizabeth George starts each chapter with a verse and some meat behind that verse. To the nitty gritty so we when we pray, we are responding to the truth in prayer. It becomes very heartfelt. Each of the following chapters - Praying for Spiritual Growth, our marriage, your husband as a father, wisdom, job, money, decisions, health, time, purity, speech, courage, spiritual walk, leadership, and being a team player in marriage, job, and church.
Each prayer is short and personalized but the depth of each prayer is deep. Prayer many times changes us before it changes our circumstances and the people we are praying for.
A Special Thank You to Harvest House Publishers and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
I enjoyed Ms. George's book 15 Verses to Pray for your Husband. Really it was just as much, if not more, a book for me as it was for my husband. It really made me realize just how little I am taking my husband before the Lord in prayer and that I need to step it up. I know most of our husbands are faced with lots of stressors during their days, but with mine being a Pastor I know that there are more. Well, maybe not more but different ones, so holding him up in prayer is needed. Yet I still slack in it.
This book has helped me to get back on track praying for my husband. It is a very helpful book and is a great guide in praying for our husbands.
Thank you Net Galley for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
The Bible has within its pages a path that we are to follow as husbands and wives and fathers and mothers. Elizabeth George teaches us what we can do as wives for our husbands as they walk each of these roles. Her knowledge of the Bible and her own experiences combine to give us this wonderful and insightful direction.
15 Verses to Pray for Your Husband sets before us a task to prayerfully place our husbands before God each day. Elizabeth George speaks of the various areas that our husbands could use our prayers such as spiritual growth, wisdom, acting with courage; his job and his role as a father. These areas are just as tough for our husbands as they are for us as wives. God placed them as the head of our family, a role with much stress and obligations. We can support them by raising them up in prayer and by doing so we keep our focus on them which allows us to have meaningful and blessed relationships. The author shows us how to use the scriptures in our prayers according to God’s design.
Although, the reasoning with this book is to provide prayer for “husbands”, I truly feel that it could also be used for fathers. There are many single mothers who may not have the husband role in their lives, but they have the father of their children to consider. Praying for parental wisdom, spiritual growth, and his role of father would be just as important in this situation. 15 Verses to Pray for Your Husband is a great book to learn how to focus on our husbands and to help them with their roles, but it is also a great resource for prayerfully consider fathers as well.
Elizabeth George addresses a topic that all married women can relate to in "15 Verses to Pray for Your Husband." I think we can all admit areas where our words haven't been as graceful or where we haven't specifically been prayerful about our husband in his job, time management, health, finances or other area where he might be lacking wisdom to lead your family. I know that if I'm honest, I'm doing this on a daily basis and I loved the variety of topics she addressed that the men in our life face as husbands, dads and leaders in our home. It's important for us to pray for them and how we pray for them is important to. I love how she aligned scripture for different topics that' our guys face. I found this book to be very practical full of Godly wisdom that a young newly wife could benefit from or someone that has been married for years. I recommend this book. Step up your prayer life for the husband in your life! He needs your prayers!!

15 Verses to Pray for Your Husband is more than just 15 Verses to Pray for Your Husband. This book gives us guidelines on how to pray as God wants us to. It gives ideas on ways to remember who we pray for and why we include them. Plus, 15 Verses to Pray for Your Husband reminds us of our responsibilities as wives and advice how to better be the wives God has commanded us to be. What I liked: Broken down into 25 chapters, 15 Verses to Pray for Your Husband lovingly guides us on how to grow in our prayer life and our marriage with tips, verses, and reminders. What I didn’t like: There were a lot of words! I thought I’d be able to read this as a devotional, but found that I needed several hours or evenings to dig in and prayerfully work through each section.
In 15 Verses to Pray for Your Husband, Elizabeth George not only includes specific scriptures to pray for your husband, but also shares why those scriptures are important to pray for your husband. Fatherhood, work, financial matters, and purity are just a sampling of the prayer topics covered in this book. These topics, along with the remaining eleven, are all crucial prayer matters and the book does a great job in guiding wives through every aspect of praying diligently and specifically in all of these areas. A very lofty and inspiring book that made me feel like I wasn't praying enough for my husband ... and I wasn't. I need to pray a lot more often for my helpmate and "person" in life, and this book was a great reminder.
