In October 2023, I was “the one” David was looking for and he ended up handing me a copy of his book in a parking lot. This book was an incredible dose of encouragement to me as I have slowly read through it. The timing was only because of God - my brother has gone astray and to have this book in my hands to encourage me that God seeks me, He sees me and He is also not done seeking my brother. Not only am I encouraged towards my brother but this book has helped me see the importance of keeping my eyes open to seek the ONE on Jesus’ heart each day.

While the author has many poignant stories admitting wonderful insights from God with regard to whom he should approach and how—and encouraging us to not be timid—I was disappointed that he had no stories about “looking “ for the least or last in our society. McIver never seemed to go outside of his comfort zone. For those hoping to be emboldened to talk to unhoused people, beggars, the foreigners (Lev. 19.34), and any others of a different ethnic or socioeconomic class, this book fails to be role model on how to love “them” as we love ourselves and those in our “tribes.”
